[APP] Zeam Launcher 2.8.8 Update - Epic 4G Themes

Hey all,
In case you don't check out other forums. Cloakt updated Zeam a couple days ago to 2.8.8. I really loved it for the speed but thought it was kinda unfinished previously. I'm gonna give it another shot now.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=664149

I don't know if it's just me, but my Zeam does NOT like my Epic. It's supposed to be a minimalistic launcher but it used a huge amount of memory. With a fresh restart Zeam the phone would be at ~235mb of ram, and up to 278mb after light usage (and exiting apps with the stock task manager). It would lag on me all the time and didn't seem smooth.
I switched to ADW EX and restarted, it was at 186mb at start up and stayed around there after light usage. Launcher Pro used about 10mb more. What the heck?

Weird. Do you have lots of homescreen shortcuts? Still 200Mb + is insane. Im using Zeam and it stays like at 8Mb while LP use to float around 13Mb.

It got another update today to 2.9.
I am without a doubt exceptionally happy with this launcher... For me this is the best thing out there.
It might be your phone, cause I'm at 10.7 for me, so 200+ is weird...

Just updated to 2.9.1 about 40 mins ago. Not sure what changes were made, but Ive had zero problems with it since I started using it a few months ago. I add it to every ROM Ive used, but currently I'm on one of the ACS Frozen EB13 ROMs and it works flawlessly, no memory issues either.

Beautiful Widgets

Anyone else having lots of force closes with this recently? Suspect it's the recent app revisions and not anything on the phone, but you never know.

I have had none until today..

I have been having problems for a few days now and have been wondering if there was something I did to cause this. Hopefully it gets adressed, may have to change widgets because of this.
Every day. It seems to be the only app that fcs on my phone
ditto for me as well.
had to uninstall it until i hear of an update that addresses the issue...
running stock kernel (did the same with birdman's test20, and JT's OC and stock clock voodoo kernel's as well.)
no task manager, and using the blue breeze clean rom
I've been having FC issues with Beautiful Widgets for a couple weeks now. I, too, uninstalled it and will go back and try it every time there is an update.
Kind of unfortunate, liked the weather.
Weather Channel and Weatherbug don't cut it, at all.
Dunno what changed but I haven't had another fc. Running birdmans kernel and bunny's magic rom

I have had the exact opposite experience with BW. With Voodoo and Birdman's kernel, BW would FC at least 3 times a day. It would also play havoc with noLED when a notification would come to the phone. BW would FC and i couldn't get to the notification for about 30 seconds. While in my car dock it would do it 5 or more times during a 5-6 hour road trip. I will caveat that by saying that along with BW, several other apps would FC when using my car dock and having the Voodoo and/or Birdman's kernel installed.
I went back to the stock kernel and all seems well for the past 3 days.
I've had FC issues for a couple weeks with BW. Thought about uninstalling it several times but really love having it on my home screen. I'm presently running Dirk's LV 1000 Vodoo kernel and have only had a couple FCs over the last few days.
I have FC notifications at least once or twice a day, but i hit the force close button and it doesn't actually stop the widget or anything, I just continue on with my day.
I have not had any problems. I occasionally get a FC here or there. but it is not a common occurrence.
i ended up switching to weather & toggle widget. no where as good as beautiful widgets but it has an awesome htc skin, h7c
Are you guys running adw? Mine was doing the same switched to Zeam problems went away.

I'd try changing It. Just to see if it fixes the problem.

I also just recently ran the Fix Permissions Utility in ROM Manager and that seemed to have fixed a lot.
No force closes ever here. Launcherpro plus via JP6.

Home Screen Redraws

Hi all,
I understand this issue has come up elsewhere before but I wanted to see if anyone here had any good strategies for dealing with it.
On my rooted GT-P1000 running Overcome3-Jupiter and Overcome Kernel, when I return to the home screen after a while in other apps, it has to redraw all the shortcuts and widgets, a time- and CPU-intensive process. I have noticed this on the stock launcher, on LauncherPro and on my current launcher, Zeam Launcher. I have tried using the V6 Supercharger script and I have tried using the edit to local.prop and neither solves the problem (I swear V6 made it worse). I still have extremely regular redraws when returning to my home screen, which is becoming irritating.
Does anyone have any other ideas/strategies as to what might be either the cause or a solution for this annoyance?
Thanks everyone!

The cause is when the launcher gets swapped out of memory to free up memory for other processes.
The solution is locking your launcher in memory. LauncherPro has an experimental setting that supposedly does this, but I have seen a lot of people say it doesn't work. However, on LauncherPro's forum, there is a more involved method for root users as I recall that people report does work.
Wow, this must be the first ever redraw thread created where the OP is aware of the V6 SuperCharger...
Congratulations... but if you can't get SC to work, you're SOL.

I will try, but still hoping to make progres with Go launcher, they have very good themes that I want to use...
EDIT- strange but I cant find zeam launcher on market
Thats your choice, but zeam is faster and stabile. Find apk file on internet, but it should be on the market

Hello!
I've been using GO Launcher EX with custom ROMs (Floyo 0.20, 0.25, 0.30 and FroyoBread now) and it never did anything like that on my X8, it's "laggier" than the others, but it's okay.
Did you get it from the real android market? You said that you like their themes... maybe it's, somehow, related to theme you've downloaded and installed?
See you, and good luck with it!
Personally I love GO Launcher, and have never had any problems with it at all. Barely any lag either, but I will investigate Zeam.
There will be a bunch of files (cache, settings, etc.) created on the SD card from GO. You could uninstall it, clear these out, reboot your phone and then reinstall it.
Might solve your problem? Find it does for other apps (as it forces it to gather new data)
P.S. You could have a look on the dev site for help, or even raise a bug: http://golauncher.goforandroid.com/
@Striderzin yes i have download from real android market but not themes in that period of time when i head this problem. I will try once more and0 see what will hapen.
@SirMikey hmm i didnt notice that launcher makes its own folders on sd card thx i will delete them.
I am using unrooted 2.1 zeam launcher works only 2.2 and above -.-
when i installed Go LauncherEX, I stopped receiving SMS on my Stock 2.1 ROM, i don't know if it was GL EX or if it was coincidence.
But i don't like the Go LauncherEX, just try LauncherPRO, use only one homescreen, disable the homescreen caching, use only one dock page, do not use a lot of widgets, and with this, LauncherPRO will only use about 7MB of RAM, and it will be very smooth too.

Scrolling Lag

I've seen this problem come up in other recent HTC devices, just thought I'd point it out for the Vivid as well.
I'm running LauncherPro with just a few icons, a low-resolution wallpaper, and no widgets. It runs silky smooth but the only gripe I have is that when opening the app drawer, 3D or standard, there's an incredible amount of stuttering and lagginess. Scrolling is not smooth, either.
The only other instance of crappy scrolling I have found on the phone so far is in GO SMS Pro; scrolling up and down conversations and also in the settings menus shows an apparent amount of lag. Nothing to cry about, but still there.
Otherwise, no performance issues at all on my device. Oh, and my previous complaint about the data speed being almost nonexistent - it's fixed. Turned out the phone was trying to sync all three of my Google accounts at one time.
Try a different Launcher? LauncherPro Might have an inherent flaw with HTC Devices possibly. Give GoLauncher a shot and see if there is any difference.
Yeah, I'll do that now. I personally dislike Go Launcher but I'll try a few others and see how they perform. I don't think a launcher would affect the lag in GO SMS, though.
EDIT: Lag is still present in Go, Zeam, and ADW launchers.
Interesting. Good to know. It is possible I suppose that they are not correctly optimized for the resolution and Screen size. Although if it is having problems with other HTC Devices my only conclusion is that it is because of some sort of Software issue between HTC and Custom Launchers.
Yeah that's all I could think of, how maybe the high resolution has something to do with it. Hopefully, that's right. Then it would just depend upon app makers to update their apps.
I see no lag what so ever on anything on this phone...
maybe ya got a bad unit?
Are you using GO SMS or any other launchers besides Sense?
This whole rom is slow in comparison to how my inspire rom runs....sad....but thats at&t for [email protected] software. But as soon as we have root,Ill be cooking my own for this, until then it can sit in the box...lol
WC
I have the lag you speak of and its driving me up the wall. Why did I give up my galaxy s2
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk
Calm down, it's not such a big deal. It could because of the greater resolution, much higher than the Samsungs. Not a hundred percent sure, but really. People need to stop being so nit picky and judgmental. It's a phone. In this world, they ALL have their quirks.
No lag what so ever here. Running Launcher Pro Paid Edition. I have 3 homescreens with 4 Columns and 5 Rows, and have 4 Widgets. 3D App Drawer with 5 columns.
Tried ADW EX and Go Launcher and found no lag present as well.
Once a debloated Rom is released everything will be resolved. But for me, haven't had any lag what so ever.
Hm. I wonder if the paid version would make any difference on my device. No lag in the drawer at all? What about in downloaded apps when scrolling?
No problem with anything on launcher. Smooth to me. I've came from an Atrix, Infuse, Inspire, SGS2 and notice no difference. So I've had my share to compare to.
I like the paid version because of the resizable Widgets.
I wonder then, what could be causing it on my phone..
I just tried the latest ics launcher, wow, the first few were kinda sluggish but the latest update is a breeze. There is no lag what so ever and the apps even open instantly with this launcher. I think ics luancher installs itself in a different way, i dont know why but it is smooth as butter.

I've got the same thing, paid version.
I just changed the delay to instant, and forgot about it.

I just downloaded the new ICS Launcher as well. Seems they've updated it really recently because I tried it on Monday and it wasn't nearly this smooth. Drawer fly-in is amazing, but now the scrolling through the apps is laggy. The changelog did say it was completely rebuilt.
Maybe it's a memory thing? LauncherPro was the very first thing I ever installed on the phone out of the box, and I think I recall that before I installed any other apps, it was running flawlessly.. low memory maybe, but I only have like 10 other apps installed. I'm back to LP for now since I don't really mind the drawer lag that much. I just switched to the 3D version and fly-in is working fine, but now it's the scrolling that lags more than the regular drawer does lol. Can't win.
I know it sounds silly but it could be something as simple as an app icon causing the lag. I had installed something from the market and I noticed lag (this was on my Inspire) and after I uninstalled the app it went back to normal. I reinstalled the app and froze it with TiBu and the lag was still gone... unfroze and lag was back.
YMMV

Yeah I believe you, good point. I'm just going to go through deleting some apps and see if any of them are the problem.
UPDATE: Alright, I just did a factory reset on the phone. As soon as it booted up, I added my primary Gmail account. I went to the Market then closed it so it would update. Meanwhile, I synced my Google contacts, Gmail, and calendar. When that was done, I went back to the Market and downloaded GO SMS - the scrolling lag there still persists. Then, I downloaded LauncherPro (unpaid) and went through opening and exiting the app drawer multiple times - seems the lag is gone. Every now and then, opening it will show some stuttering, as will closing. But it's not every single time like it was before the reset. Perhaps it was something to do with memory? It does not lag on scrolling at all, only during fly-in and fly-out.
UPDATE 2: Never mind. Now that I have changed the default number of homescreens from 3 to 5, it lags every time on opening and closing. Just not on scrolling, yet.

Running so slow it seems

Hey guys,
I had the Droid 3 for about half a year now and got it rooted few months ago. I deleted all the bloatware in hopes of getting the phone to run faster however it seems just as slow or maybe even slower than my old Droid 1. When I unlock my phone (widgetlocker) it takes a while to show what is on the screen, if i hit message icon it load message for a long time, when i click on just phone and recent it take a long time. It should be so slow IMO.
Anything I can do to check what is going on?
Any of you experience this?
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
If you say it's slower than your OG Droid, then something must have gone completely wrong... sorry. But put a Droid and Droid 2 beside and say that again...
It might be because of 3rd party Apps... Who needs widget locker? I'm using GoLauncher EX 2.51 because it's the fastest experience (all newer versions are slower). I have removed all bloatware and beyond. The only widgets I use is the GenieWidget, Facebook Widget and the GoLauncher Toggle Widget.
The one thing that seems to slow down my droid are the widgets. If you have just 3 widgets, it should be fast.
Did you ever get the first system update to 5.6.890? That made it faster IMO. I got the Droid 3 the day it came out and had to use launcherpro because the redraw times on the stock launcher were ridiculous. After the update couple of months ago the stock launcher is faster than ever.
Add ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1 and debug.sf.hw=1 to build.prop to solve the lag when unlocking phone etc.
Then if you're not satisfied you could try V7 speedy
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17222220
The stock launcher is a slow piece of ****, you will have a lot of redraw with it. Widget locker will also slow down the unlocking of the phone.
Toss Liberty Rom on it and you'll see a huge difference in speed. I'm currently running Hashcode's CM9 selfkang alpha because I'm daring like that.
It's ridiculously fast, never seen anything like it.
