Thanks for work you've put into this, CM, etc. You shouldn't have to do this just to get some peace.

Stay on topic.
Hi eugene
I'm interested in doing some modification. Just like to know what tools are you using to compile and test these code? How is your set up?
ubuntu Linux 64-bit
Tools used are what Samsung suggested per kernel setup.
Kernel Source for Vibrant?
Hi Eugene,
Can you help me to understand what this kernel build is? Did you take the I9000 source and modify it to work on the Vibrant?
Does it fix the battery drain problem?
Put another way, could this source be compiled and be expected to run on the Vibrant? (Sorry about the noobiness; I am a EE but not a programmer.)
Thanks,
Bruce

I believe this would be simply the source code for the compiled 2.2 kernel we use that he has gotten to work. It was requested by a bunch of people but I read on the cm6.1 irc logs that they requested his source to help speed up the process. I'm sure it can be compiled, but without any modifications you will simply get what is already available in compiled form.

you should ask in the aokp thread, maybe pm its developer. thats how the slim ics rom got support
Ok cool I'll try to contact roman since the thread for aokp hasn't been updated since build 22
This would be nice. This is my fav rom. Build 30 is so fast indeed hence i get back to cm9 bec of the home button to recent apps not working.

Maybe you can ask r_data which files are needed
You can extract them in Air kernel
There's no need for this anymore morfic and simms released a new batch of kernels that basically works in every rom giving it the extra ram
It is my pleasure to introduce
TONYP's PARANOIDANDROID
specifically modded for SU660.

CreditsIn addition to tonyp's original credits (see below), I'd like to thank the following:
tonyp for generating the original awesome work and support for this mod
wkpark and the open2x team for developing the kernel and the SU660 patches
harsh for sharing his kernel sources
Please understand this is tonyp's ROM, not mine. I just made the necessary mods to make it work for the SU660 as a single-CWM flashable zip.
Therefore for SU660 users, what this means is:
No need to modify updater-script to remove the p990 assert. It's already included in the zip.
No need to flash SU660 kernel. This mod already contains one (v3.0.8) (v3.0.44; compiled by me from wkpark and harsh sources)
Working home button thanks to the SU660 kernel
Proper screen rotation thanks to the SU660 kernel
If you appreciate this mod, please hit THANKS.
And, although entirely optional, I'd be very grateful for any donations.

[ROM][CM9] ParanoidAndroid [Userthread]----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------What is it?
PAD (Per App Density) - choose a custom density for each of your apps!
PAL (Per App Layout) - chose PhoneUI or TabletUI for each of your apps!
To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks.
This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode.
This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually.
Remember, android is modular, everything is an app: Lockscreen, navigationbar, dialogs, popups, keyboards, widgets, and your regular apps of course.
Apps have the capability to switch into various designs or layouts according to the device they run on.
This can result in a complete new experience as many apps will transform to the better.
Now for every element that you like chose a mode (PhoneUI, Phablet/Nexus-7UI, TabletUI) and/or a size.
You are 100% independent of the system DPI which runs nicely in whatever value it has been assigned to.
You do not need to boot your phone into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot.
You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode.
Your market, phone, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself.
This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of your phone.

I'll let tonyp and other developers to provide the full answer to this. From my perspective, p990 and su660 are similar enough that when tonyp or other developers make a rom for p990, in effect they have just made one for su660. I think as long as you have a working su660 kernel that is compatible with the ROM (as included in this deployment), then you do have a SU660 ROM. (Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here)
Also, let me just remind you that rom development and kernel development are different, and that the developers who develop one do not necessarily develop the others. For example, owain94, tonyp, xxmrhyde, and others have developed roms, while wkpark, harsh, benee and others have developed kernels (of course, that doesn't mean they can't or won't develop each others' categories; I'm just listing what I've historically observed here at xda; hei1125 would be an exception having both a rom dev thread and a kernel dev thread here at xda).

It's based on a guide I wrote before:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1850967
I edited the updater-script to allow non-p990 installation, and replaced the harsh kernel that was in tonyp's original deployment with wkpark's su660 kernel. Note that I did ask for tonyp's permission first to distribute this modded version here.
I also don't know how to contact wkpark. You're probably right that he gets just way too much PMs.
thanks for your explanation
Im using cm7 kang 135 ( this rom belongs to p990) and it smooths, I just thought that if any developers create a rom for us, this rom will work smoother
I haven't try this rom yet, but some cm9 rom that I had tried, when I connect the phone to pc, the phone turns off automatically. Have you ever faced this problem?

I haven't tried any of the cm7 roms. I went straight into cm9 and used various cm9 roms for about 5 months now. They all have their advantages, but I think I'm not biased in saying that tonyp's is the latest, most updated, smoothest, and snappiest cm9 rom for the su660 at the moment.
I highly recommend you backing up what you have now and give this a try. You can always switch back if it doesn't suit your needs.
And to specifically answer your question, no, I have not ever had problems of the phone switching off when connecting to the PC. though I should say that I usually push files wirelessly using sshdroid.

More questions
How can you know which kernel is compatible with which rom, I think that one kernel works with some roms and doesn't with the other roms.
These kernel that you listed, they belong to p990, I used to think that we need a special kernel that create for su660 ( not p990 kernel) to use p990 rom.
I hate my english and my knowledge, I hope that you could understand and please correct me if Im wrong

Usually the developers tell us which device they developed the kernel for, and usually it's the device that they have themselves.
And yes, I did list p990 kernel because we can still use them with a few minor limitations. That's the point of the guide I posted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1850967
As for compatibility of roms and kernels, the only way I know is through trial and error. There are a few guidelines, such as not to use p999 roms or kernels in our su660, and to use ics kernels for ics roms and gb kernels for gb roms, but besides that you just gotta try it out yourself. I myself make frequent nandroid backups and test different kernels to find out what's compatible with my phone and what's not.
As for su660 specific custom kernel development, I also have limited knowledge and only know of wkpark's kernels.
Hope that helps.

It all depends on how adventurous you are and also how much you read and research ahead of time. It is true incorrect flashing can soft-brick your phone -- hence the importance of backup.
But I know the setup I provide here does work. So how about we talk again after you first make backup and try out this rom/kernel setup?
