Alright I've never started a thread,so bare with me. Is it possible to blow the auxiliaryport on the top of the phone? I ask, because no matter what I plug into it. Be it headphones, auxiliary cables for car stereo, Bose speakers for home..... they all sound like the speakers are blown, amenities know they cant be. What happened is I am on the miui Rom, and was talking to my wife thought the car speakers. When we hung up I didn't realise that the car speaker volume was all the way up, so when it made the call ended beep sound, it was loud as hell! After that it sounded like I blew my car speakers. But when I put in a cd, the speakers sounded fine. Also fine with the radio.already long story short, no matter what kind of speakers I use, they sound blown as long as its pluged into my aux port on the phone. Has this ever happened to anyone else , and how do I fix it short of trying to get replacement phone? Will reflashing miui Rom work? Flashing a different kernel Did not. I am sooo confused lol

So I have looked everywhere and havent really found the answer im looking for. First of all my headphones, also others i have tried including an aux cable dont seem to fit into the nook color headphone jack all the way. This is causing problems hearing sound in both ears, or getting any sound at all. I have to fidget to get it just right. Does anyone have any solution or similar problems? A specific pair that work?

It isn't broken. Just stick the headphone jack in and when it gets stuck just push on it until it goes in
My nook is like that and doing what I stated above will not break your nook or headphones

Mine works fine with three sets of headphones and an Aux cable.

really?
i found mine to be a bit hard to plug in and unplug but im kind of use to it now, i just thought all nooks were like that
It requires a bit more force to insert and remove than other devices I have, but that also makes them harder to disconnect by accident. /shrug
They do work fine if you insert them all the way rather than stopping at the first click, as the tip slides past the ring contact, which may be what the OP is doing.
Wow... im a crackhead lol. Anyways thanks guys, sorry for wasting your time.

lol no problem it was a valid question and i was wondering the same thing when i first got my nook color, i just accidentally ran into the solution like 1 hour later lol
Yes, the headphone jack is extremely tight on the NC. I feel like I am going to break something every time I am plugging in the headphones. I am sure that they inserted completely. However, out of 5 "plug in and out" cycles, only 1 will yield the full spectrum of the frequencies for me. Specifically, there is no bass, all mids and highs. I have to plug and unplug few times to get sound with bass+the rest. I am not complaining that the bass is weak, there is simply no bass at all until you get a right "fit". I tried 5 different headphones (ranging from cheap iPod headphones to UE TripleFi 10) and different sources (e.g., Pandora, music player, etc), and the result was always the same.
Anybody else with this problem (i.e., complete lack of bass until you find the right "fit")?
3.5mm TRS audio jacks have three contacts, one each for the Right and Left stereo channels and one for ground. A channel is either present or absent. Any bass issues you are experiencing are not due to the jack; it simply is not wired that way.

I am certainly experiencing this issue as well. I've found a way to reproduce it. If you push the plug in fast enough all the way, you can get the plug to produce full sound, but if you push it half way in and wait for NC to change the sound from speakers to headphones you'll be missing some spectrum, after you're hearing broken sound coming out of your headphones, even if you completely push in the rest of the jack, the final results will be missing some spectrum. So the only way to get complete sound is to push the plug in before the NC switches to the headphone output.
Wonder what a pair of the little powered external speakers would sound like?
Hey guys, over the past couple days, it seems my phone has lost some audio abilities, what's weird is that some audio STILL works, here we go:
- Notifications (Text and email) *WORK*
- Music Player/Youtube Videos/Phone Calls(inside the call, and ringing) *DO NOT WORK*
- Phone Calls in SPEAKER mode *WORK*
Here's what I've tried:
- Flashing to stock via Odin (Did a flash, didn't master clear.)
- Reflashing Serendipity 6.3 (What I was using before, should I maybe try a different ROM? It's an i897 ROM.)
- "Pressing" on the speaker, as I heard some have connection problems, but this is almost a year after owning the phone.
- Different audio apps (Stock music app, and PowerAMP)
Any ideas?
Bump. REALLY need help.. Trying a format/reflash now...
so the ear speaker isnt working but the Loud speaker does?
the "press on it" trick is for the loud speaker on the back..
sounds like a hardware problem. there is a REALLY EASY FIX. call samsung and get it replaced. flash to stock before you send it in.
I bought it from ebay, new in box. The chances of Samsung accepting my phone for a refurb is nonexistent, isn't it?
Being without a phone isn't an easy fix for me. =P
Bump. Solution found.
It was actually my headphone jack failing. I pushed in my headphones, played some music and noticed the button on the samsung headphones wasn't working, I took the jack out, blew into it, and now the headphones no longer work, but audio is coming through the speakers again.
Fixed my problem, although it wasn't the fix I wanted, since I use my phone for all my music, constantly.
I had the same problem. Turned out to be lint from my pocket in the headphone jack. If you have lint, get a needle, take pliers and bend a small hook in the sharp end. Pull out the lint that got jammed in with your headphones. I posted this fix a while ago in the SamsungCaptivateForum.com. I thought I was the only one who had the problem.
You know, that makes a lot of sense. I took a can of air spray this afternoon and let the headphone jack have it, and now it seems fixed. I think it might have been dirt from work. (Damn you, construction!)
Nice!
Thanks for the tips, I was having the same speaker issue and this certainly helped me out. My music player would cut in and out randomly if had it playing on the loud speaker.
How bout a pair of bluetooth stereo headphones instead of relying on headphone jack? I have motorola motorokr s305. I got em off ebay for $30 and they work pretty good.

Anyone else having an issue with the headphone socket, when I plug my headphones in and put the phone in my pocket or bag it only takes the slightest knock or me just walking to jar my headphones lose and then the music pauses. I know I could turn the "pause music when headphones disconnected " off but I find it handy and in this case the music would continue to play until I'd opened my bag to plug my headphones back in.
Any tips for me?
I've yet to try a different set of headphones I must admit. I don't have a second set to hand
Yes, exactly the same issue. With some earphones its really bad, with others its a little less bad. I even have two identical sets of headphones, one of which disconnects with the slightest touch of the plug, the other is not quite so bad, but still a pain. Must be a common problem.
its crap, can't believe this wasn't a known issue when the device was being tested. Its go the point I'm thinking of selling the phone and getting something else
Nothing like that here ... Its nice and firm ... Maybe you should get a replacement ...

Are you sure you put your 3,5mm connector deep enough in the socket?
I don't recognize this problem at all, its more the opposite.
Last week I pulled my cx300 out of my phone the connector was still in it, the rubber protection came loose from my cx300, I put it back and haven't managed to do that again.
i don't have this problem either. im using all sorts of headphones and still ok. put it all in. push harder. lol. all headphones work but not the mic. especially the three button ones
maybe its just the excuse I need to buy some new headphones
Use bose earphones... Socket Isn't loose at all.
Maybe you've already defective socket or earphones.

My headphones needed a bit of force to get them in properly and recognised. I think, maybe they were just not recognised the first couple of time. I'll have another go later, I've only tried once.
If I push to hard, speakers take over. I have to move it for it to play on my earphones. Pretty stuoid . Calling Google today since its my day off.
It has to be just right for it to go through the earphones. Putting it in the jack doesn't cut it because it plays through the speakers. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I WAANT TO WATCH PORN.. LOL

ok is working ,i realize that it need to be pushed all the way in lol.
for some reason was not obvious to me, i guess because on my Gnexus don't need to force it that much.
I noticed same thing. So you had to apply more pressure to force it in? I was afraid of breaking the damn thing. I can't get it to recognize any of my headphones but will play out through my lil surround sound system that has a headphone plug. I noticed that the plugs don't seem to go all the way in. I will try to force it in harder..lol.
I need to get some dedicated headphones. Only ones I have are the ones with a built in mic attached. Those won't go in all the way no matter how hard you push. Its likely to break the headphone jack if you keep trying to force them. Ones with mic. attached have 3 rings on the plug. Straight stereo headphones have only 2 rings, which is what I need.
Hello guys, I recently started having problems with my n6 audio jack.
Basically, when I plug my earpads I could hear unfull sound (like when you not plug the audio to the end and you don't hear bass or words)
And the earpads are pretty new, and worked well before, also work well on other devices.
Weirdly enough when I plug my speakers they work totally fine.
I've tried clearing the inside with alcohol and ear cleaner and it does now recognize earpads but unfull sound( prior it was not even recognizing the earpads).
But still its unusable, I have long driving every day and I need this audio jack ;/
What could be done to fix it?
