I'm currently running COS-DS rom (latest as posted) and the Biffmod 2.2.1 kernel (latest as posted). The phone is using the radio version 2.22.27.08.
Today I noticed, that I haven't received 3 messages, I should have received. This never happended before on other radio's, roms and kernels. Could this be a radio issue, or just bad luck?
It's an issue with at least Gingerbread roms that when memory is not sufficient a message can get lost. Try GhostlySMS from hrk (you can find it in the market). He wrote a small program that is able to prevent you from lost messages.

Thank you for the answer!
I tested it today without ghostly sms and received every message I wrote from my second phone. Without the app none of the test messages arrived on my G1.
well, when I am using Ghostly SMS, then I don't need to enable "keep messaging app in memory"?
keep in memory
I didn't notice, that there is an option for "keeping sms app in memory". Where did you find that option? I discovered a "keep MMS-App in memory", but I think, that the sms-app is meant.
I think, it is save to use both, ghostly sms app and above option.
I am using COS-DS Gingerbread and in Performance settings is Lock messaging app in memory (Avoid lost messages on low memory situations).
But I don't want to keep app in memory, I need every megabyte and I'm not using sms very often, well I am searching for solution with lowest memory usage

Maybe you should apply the "14MB RAM hack" (located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831139) and using a "2708-kernel".
You will receive ~112MB of RAM and you could also use compcache and/or swap to get a sufficient performance on your G1.

I've been running the "2708" SPL/Radio/kernel combo and I still lose messages, that's why I wrote that app.
@AnDiSa: thanks for the "advertisement"

FYI, I've got that hack and kernel, it was the first thing I've done, when that ram hack was available and also, I was using swap, now I'm trying compcache
I have just been using the lock messenger app in memory and it fixed the problem.
The new COS (17th April) seems to be a lot faster and apparently has some low memory "tweaks". I have tested this load without the lock, and so far it works...but I still don't trust it. Anyone else had any luck with the new loads?

I flashed the COS release (17th of April) yesterday and I don't think, that I lose sms since then, because the stock sms app announced every message to me (of course I enabled the "keep SMS app in memory" option). To be sure, that I don't miss any messages I continue to use the ghostly sms app.

Hey guys I am not sure if this has been discussed yet but I find that my default browser is eating up internal memory space. Twice today I receive a warning notifications stating insufficient memory and further check i found browser clocking at 28mb and also the secondary email application at 15 mb
Is this normal or is this another bug
By the way running unrooted nexus
It's known that the browser has a leak, first I've read about the email app though.
i have beem having this issue too. i'd rather have the other bug with some extra memory free

Well its kinda annoying coz now I want even run flash based sites as the browser Juz consumes to much n I have to keep clearing data.
A real snag this one. Hope the official release is soon tho.
I couldnt install app updates because of insufficient memory right after 72 install. Im pretty dumbfounded. I guess this is the cause ?

so how do you get the memory back? cachemate?
With 2.1 my free memory was generally around 15-30 MB.
With 2.2 it's usually about 200+ MB
Problem solved
I had an sms message and it got rejected saying theres low space. There was an icon saying I had low memory but I deleted an app, I checked phone memory and have 20mb free space. The icon went away but the message never came through so I dont know who it came from. What gives?
This seems obvious.doesn't it mean you didn't have memory when the message comes in

I have 20mb free on internal
Oh alright i don't know then. I would suggest trying handcent. It manages messages better when having lots. Are you on cyanogen?

It's not enough. Opening extra browser window - and voila, not anymore.
Also, the message itself might be breaking the limit.
Free your memory. Use Apps2SD and Dalvik2somewhere.
Jack, you got me biting...
Dalvik2somewhere?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I'm referring to the ability of Apps2EXT to move Dalvik to either CACHE or EXT partitions. Semi-joking
In cyan there is an option to keep messaging in memory to insure messages are not lost

I have been using Handcent for the longest and had to upgrade my SD card so I could move more apps to free up internal memory. I did get SMS rejection message due to low mem. After freeing up memory, the messages were not retrieved…but I could receive. Running MIUI
This is one of my biggest annoyances with Android. You could have 19mb free space, but the phone will reject an SMS message that MIGHT be 2kb in size. Then, there is absolutely no way to get that message back. It effectively destroys the message, leaving you with NO idea who it was from or what it said.
It would be great if there was a way to change the limit where the low space warning went off (like take it down from 20mb to 5mb or something).
I run around 25mb free space usually, but it never fails that I'll be browsing a large website, lose that free space, get the warning, then get a SMS rejection message. Infuriating.
Im using handcent
Enomther's TheOfficial - v2.12.4 rom
dont have much apps insatlled so didnt bother with apps2sd
ive noticed when i flashed assonance rom or axura rom..i dont get anymore notifications for my wordfeud or foursquare..and i have them all checked on..i just noticed today too i dont even get a sound notification for fb just the top bar i do..please help! only notifications i get is txt/sms..does that have to do with it? cause i got the bln thing..and ive already flashed everything all that the right way and followed instructions yada yada yada..what seems to be the problem? please help..thanks
Either a bad flash - or those features are broken due to the ROM you are running. I do know that a few builds out there that regular Voicemail notifications don't work due to ATT not recognizing the phone as an AT&T device.
I don't seem to have that issue - I have received notifications for gmail, txts, missed calls, and Facebook. But I don't have FourSquare installed but I'd imagine that would work too.
I'm currently running Assonance 5.0 with whatever SetIron kernel Mikey decided to use with this build.
I would try re-installing the application and if your restoring - DO NOT re-install the data part from TiBu. and see if that works.

Yea I'm using the same rom ver 5.0..and some how I get notification now for wordfeud..just not for square checkins..when you say not data part..what you mean by that? Like system data or app and its data..or are they diff? Cause when I restore apps only will it keep my info and stuff too like login or do I have to input all that..what do I put to restore app and data app only or data..i think I'm almost gonna fix this..little more help please..thanks again

When you do a restore within Titanium Backup you get an option to run the batch as "App and Data" or "Apps Only"
I always recommend if your having issues when restoring your applications to NOT restore the data part and using the "Apps Only" option. This will install just the application but none of your settings - so you would have to setup the application again from scratch but it won't migrate the issue to your new install.
I can't receive messages(sms) when ANGRYBIRDS or some other apps is running. I only can solve this problem by close other apps.
what's the problem? run out of memory? sms>FC????
my ROM:UK 2.2
I used use 2.1. Never had this problem.

Try using alternate apps as handcent and see if the problem exists..

It seems that only a few people have the same problem.
Now,I'm going to clean my phone.......

I have the same problem. How you resolved that?
Use CM7, it have an option to keep the SMS application in the memory no matter what, never missed a SMS (not that I receive much SMS's anyway ) using it.
The problem with CM7 and other Gingerbread ROMs is that due to the Droid/Milestone's limited RAM, memory management is fairly aggressive to the point where important apps are being killed due to low memory situations. This is why you're seeing so many threads about Gingerbread ROM users being unable to receive text messages.
The best thing to do is to run the SuperCharger v6 script as outlined in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12058585
You may also want to look into this thread over at DF for suggested minfree values:
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/cy...im-getting-great-gingerbread-performance.html
In system\build.prop edit this line
sys.keep_app_1=com.jb.gosms
You won't lose messages anymore
No need to set messaging app persistent in cm settings

The same situation is in froyo. I have stock 2.2 and I can't receive messages when i'm playing angry birds or browsing web and using flash.
Using AMM could help to an extent. However, if/when you root (you said you were stock Froyo but I'm not sure if you rooted), the SuperCharger script is a far better solution.
Give each a try.
Yes I'm rooted and i'm SuperCharger script user. Any minfree values and also AMM don't help me. Sometimes is better, sometimes not but at all there is still a problem with receiving messages when my phone has low free ram space.
Overall jb performance seems good to me with lq4 and siri rc4. The only problem is the huge amount of lag in phone keypad, logs, messaging.
They are the main apps in a mobile phone according to me....!!! In an emergency they take 5-6 sec to load properly. I have tried every kernel and its the issue with each kernel.
I tried supercharging, locking an app in memory by writing some lines in build.prop but no help.
I get very upset that even micromax or any other phone have no lag in phone keypad or messages.
Any way to permanently lock these ***** apps to memory.?

It is not connected to kernels, speed of phone... It is sh***y dialer app I think.
I am testing this app, to see how it will act. So far so good.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.modoohut.dialer&hl=sr
Any more suggestions. And a good 3 party app for messages.
And one more question if i freeze the orignal phone app and message app can i use 3 party app?

dialerone is really really fast (but had to customize colors a bit )
currently using go sms lite, it's ok but not perfect so i'm listening proposals about this one
i'm using supercharger script to bulletproof gosms (set oom -17) but i think it's doing nothing... maybe something else has to be bulletproof also, maybe some content provider, i don't know... or i'm doing it wrong...
