[Q] Cyanogenmod 7 keyboark issue - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I flashed cyanogenmod 7 a few days ago, and I have noticed that the keyboard randomly stops showing popups after a while. The letters don't popup when I type and nothing pops up when I hold a key either. Is there a solution to this besides restarting the phone?
Thanks!

There might be a recently installed app causing this

I am experiencing the EXACT same issue. Installed latest nightly and after a while running, keyboard doesn't display key elements. So if I long press letter Y to get 6, its blank. And sometimes the predictive words show blank, which makes it impossible to use. Same with punctuation, shows blank so impossible to select period or comma etc.

[Q] Annoying problem on Vibrant/Bell

Hello,
I am a complete newbie on cellphones in general and bought a Galaxy S Vibrant with Bell. All original, no rooting, no nothing.
Other than the standard apps I installed
Skype
Juicedefender
3GWatchdog
Opera Mini
And downloaded a Hotmail adress book (about 160 recordings, exported .csv format from Windows Live Mail) via Kies.
What happens is that the back and the menu buttons (low left and right corners of the phone) light up simultaneously every 5 seconds or so. When they do, the app I am in closes/goes back one step. The process repeats every 5 seconds or so, even when I got to the main desktop. When the buttons light up, the phone vibrates a bit
To compound the problem, this happened only at times. Now it happens almost countinuously.
Any ideas what/who is causing it and how can I get rid of this issue?
Much appreciated,
Mike
I am trying this:
dial this code into your phone: *#*#2663#*#*
Select the bottom option for upgrading your touch firmware.
Will keep you posted if it does NOT work...

[Q] How to fix hardware keyboard issue? - typing 'a' key selects all text

Hi, I am having an odd sporadic issue when texting, typing with the hardware keyboard. Occationally when I start to type and reach a word with the letter 'a' in it, pressing the 'a' key on the hardware keyboard selects all the text. I have to either back out of the text message and go back in (most of the time this works), or reboot the phone (rarely have had to do this lately, but initally when the problem started, this was the only way to fix it). Is there a setting somewhere that is causing this? Am I accidently hitting a key or key combination? Its pretty annoying, but thankfully doesnt happen that often. My wife has the exact same phone and setup, and has the problem as well.
Background info:
Droid 4, Stock rooted ICS
Using GoSMS, GoLauncher.
I've tried every "select" combination I can think of on my D4 to try to reproduce what you are seeing, to see if it's a stuck key or something. The closest I can find is Shift-UpArrow. This will select lines. If your text is less than a single line, this has the effect of selecting everything. Have you ever notice if it happens on multi-line texts? if so, does it select the entire thing, or only a single line? or parts of lines?
I know this isn't much help. But maybe this is a step in "a" direction? lol.

Hehe, it definitely is a step. I cannot remember if it selects the whole thing on multi-line texts or not. I will check the next time it acts up. I can definitely say that I am not accidently hitting shift and up arrow, its for sure just pressing the 'a' key as part of a text message. The frustrating thing is that it does it randomly, and if I'm typing and I hit the a and it selects the whole thing and I dont notice, it of course replaces the entire selected text with whatever letter I type after the a.
Thanks for the help. I have seen this exact problem a few other places (google search), and there have been some replies, but none that have identified the problem, or offered a solution. I am hoping that we can get to the bottom of it. Keep the ideas and suggestions coming!
CTRL-A on most OS is a select all. I wonder if there is a "CTRL" key that can be accessed somehow? and if so, is it stuck, or getting stuck somehow?

I had not thought of the control-a possibility. It definitely is getting stuck, if that is the case, cause it doesnt stop after one keypress, I have to back out and go back into the sms again before it stops.

The CTRL key, as far as I'm aware, is the touch sensitive "menu" button. Is it possible that it's being "pressed" constantly?
Cheers,
Steve.

Ah-HA! Ok, when I turn the phone to the side, if I 'accidently' bump the menu button, the menu comes up (the menu for gosms settings when you're in a text message) and, when i hit back to make it go away, and it does, and I start typing... VIOLA! I reproduce the problem. You nailed it sir. Thanks very much. Now that I know what its doing, is there a way to turn it off, or should I just be careful not to hit the menu button when I go into a text message?
Thanks again!
Popss
Edit: I did notice that hitting the menu button again does not make it go away... any suggestions there?
Mine started doing odd things like this as well as "y" launched YouTube "s" Google search ect..... I just FDR and that was the end...

[Q] Touchscreen issues

Hello everybody,
I was doing a lot of research on this issue and was using the search function of course, however I was not able to find a fix to the problem I am experiencing.
I have a Samsung at&t captivate with cyanogenmod 10.0 installed.
The problem:
Lately I experienced strange touchscreen problems, where it seemed that my phone did what it wants to do. Opening google maps zooming in and out, opening other apps and it even called a friend one time. All that did not seem to follow any pattern, it was more like someone randomly touched on my screen.
What I tried:
After doing some research, I booted to recovery and deleted the cache and dalvik cache. After I rebootet the phone everything seemed alright, except for when writing a message, some keys "p" and "?" where not working.
So I rebootet to recovery again and did a factory reset, and installed cyanogenmod 10.0 again. Everything seemed alright at the beginning, but when I clicked my way through the welcome process, I noticed that the "p" key does not work again, all the other keys though, especially the ones in the bottom right corner, work just fine.
And here comes the problem: On the next screen "Google & location", I can not press the ">" button to proceed in the bottom right corner!
Do you think it is a hardware problem? What is against this is, that the same spot where the ">" button appears, works fine on the other screen, when I enter my Email adress.
Every kind of help is very much appreciated!! Thank you all in advance!
Best,
Moritz

I'm thinking you might have to go back to Stock KK4 and start fresh. If that doesn't work, it's most likely a hardware issue (humidity perhaps). If it comes down to that, take apart the phone and put it in a bag of rice for a couple days. Now if that doesn't fix it, you might have to get a new screen
I'd add bad screen protector to the humidity/hardware list. the key is that it keeps recurring in the same place on the screen. if you rotate the keyboard 90 degrees, does the p key work?

Problem with screen (unresponsive?)

Hi,
I have the following problem with Nexus 6 regardless of rom/version/kernel.
Basically the screen's response is fine, but sometimes when I touch point A, it will recognize as point B,
for example,
1. In app drawer, I select an app, that app doesn't open, but another app in the right side (maybe 2-3 places behind) instead.
2. When typing, when I press button "m", button "backspace" is recognized. (right side again)
3. When typing, sometimes multiple touches is recognized even if I just press once.
Switching off the screen and then switching it on again solve the problem every time.
But this is really annoying.
Any ideas/suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
