[Q] Annoying problem on Vibrant/Bell - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I am a complete newbie on cellphones in general and bought a Galaxy S Vibrant with Bell. All original, no rooting, no nothing.
Other than the standard apps I installed
Skype
Juicedefender
3GWatchdog
Opera Mini
And downloaded a Hotmail adress book (about 160 recordings, exported .csv format from Windows Live Mail) via Kies.
What happens is that the back and the menu buttons (low left and right corners of the phone) light up simultaneously every 5 seconds or so. When they do, the app I am in closes/goes back one step. The process repeats every 5 seconds or so, even when I got to the main desktop. When the buttons light up, the phone vibrates a bit
To compound the problem, this happened only at times. Now it happens almost countinuously.
Any ideas what/who is causing it and how can I get rid of this issue?
Much appreciated,
Mike

I am trying this:
dial this code into your phone: *#*#2663#*#*
Select the bottom option for upgrading your touch firmware.
Will keep you posted if it does NOT work...

Sudden Device Failure ? =(

I've search woth Google, GWENI and Wiki and could not find a similar case. Please let me know if this has already been dealt with.
So, everything was working fine earlier this morning (alarm, calls, wifi, bluetooth A2DP), I have not installed nor tweaked anything in weeks - I finally had the phone setup the way I wanted to...
This morning I was adding an event in my Calendar, and I got an "Application Error" msg - which would not allow me to add the event. I quit calendar, tried again and the same thing happned. I had just succcessfuly added a Contact a second earlier so I decided to Soft Reset (Using the button on the bottom and stylus) and when it started booting up I noticed the AT&T 3G Splash Animation Screen (which I had disabled back in February - this is were I went "Oh no ") followed by the Windows Mobile Splash screen with "Tap the screen to set up your Windows Mobile based device". So I'm guessing the phone had a Factory Reset for some reason.
Unfortunetly, my struggle doesn't end with me losing my information. The phone is stuck at that Windows Mobile Splash Screen. I removed my SIM Card (which is not ATT), and battery for a few minutes but I have only been able to pass the Spash Screen about three times and the phone gets stuck on the Screen Calibration/Alignment set up. Other than the Reset Button, none of the buttons respond at this point, including the power button.
Any suggestions?
Any help will be GREATLY appreciated =)

I understand the buttons are not responding. However, a similar situation happened to me last week. I just had to do a hard reset (the buttons only responded when i did a hard reset).
hold down both soft keys while inserting your stylus. Hopefully this works.
also try flashing a different rom and see if that solves the problem

Xperia doing random things

Hello XDA...
I've had my Xperia for about 5 months now...
First it started by being less responsive on certain letters on the qwerty keyboard and after that it started making double or even triple of the letter i pressed...
I have watched the tutorial on this site but i don't dare to open my phone
Although that is not my biggest problem right now... This problem is very persistent and QUITE annoying!
Let my try to explain it:
All hardware buttons are somehow assigned to different, RANDOM 'tasks'.
Pressing the right action button under the screen makes my phone go into 'settings', quickly overlapped by 'contacts' and then it marks the last inc/outg caller and calls that person.
My button to stop the call is assigned to Album.. so i can't do anything but to take out the battery....
When it starts freaking out and opening all sorts of programs and repeatedly overlaps everything by 'settings' i cant do anything...
I tap the cross in the corner to close everything and it just opens everything again...
I can use the touchscreen to type, text and call normally - but not the hardwarebuttons. Even the qwerty keyboard is acting wierd..
When i press the 'E' button, it is assigned to 'contacts' and 'settings' and 'new contact' somehow......
I have tried alot of different ROM's and the problem persists through all of them...
Has anyone EVER had this problem before?
Is there ANY solution at all?
I can upload a clip on youtube if anyone needs it visually explained.
Sorry for my english, it's not my native language.
No answers, hm? Seems like this is a unique problem.
For the record it is now fixed.
My phone wouldn't flash any SPL or whatever... I couldn't even force it into 'rainbow mode' by pressing volume-down and power..
I took out the memory card, and suddenly it was willing to go into rainbow mode...
Somehow i came to the conclusion that if removing 1 card fixed 1 of my problems, the second (SIM-card) would fix my other problem...
I took out the SIM-card and powered up the phone...
It was fully functional, with no hiccups or random apps popping up..
Tried putting my SIM-card back in, and now it's working again
So, no problems after that.
So far, my wierd fix is to:
Remove Mem and Sim card.
Start the phone.. - hopefully without any wierd stuff happening now.
Power off the phone.
Put back the Mem and Sim card.
- Wierd as it sounds, it has fixed my very annoying and wierd problem.
I am now a somewhat happy X1 owner again.
Right untill it started calling my girlfriend randomly and do everything it did before... ARGH, wtf?!?!

[Q] Galaxy note functional but screen stuck in 'sleep' ?!

Hi Guys,
I have a frustrating situation whereby my Galaxy Note powers on but the screen appears to be in permanent sleep mode - I get nothing but black on the screen.
You can here the Samsung chime as the phone powers up, I can adjust the volume button and hear audible tones. I can also call the mobile from another phone so the underlying phone/OS is working fine.
I can also connect the device via Kies USB and copy images/music with no issues.
I have tried removing the battery and replacing, I have also tried giving the device a full charge however I still get nothing on the screen.
Does anyone know if it's possible to perform some kind of hardware reset to get the screen to power back on? If not I guess i'll need to return the unit
p.s. Stock Galaxy Note
Thanks v much
Jeremy
Same problem for me , i have test many ROM and kernel but i still get the black screen. it's generally when i haven't use my phone during a couple hours.
Same issue here. The screen remains black and not responsive to front button or power button. I still am able to hear notifications (e.g. calendar reminders, plug in power, etc.).
Long press of power button to reboot is the only solution I have found in order to clear.
First occurrence yesterday after owning note for 1 month.
Second occurrence today.
Stock device. No root. KL7.
No newly installed apps prior to first occurrence. I will cross-check to see if any apps updated yesterday.
I have also disabled Green Power.
guys i have been owning note since past 45 days
and suddenly i faced the same problem today
when phone is in sleep and i receive a notification and press the home button
to wake the phone
i see only a black screen with a minute pink dot at top right
and the phone wont respond
however pressing the power button it brings the menu to switch and etc
so i can select power off and then again switch on the phone
guys this is frustrating
please help
Hi all.
My note was replaced yesterday.screen now turns on fine however I'm greeted with a lively green hue and banding! Ha

[Q] My HTC Diamond is dialing byitself!!! HELP PLEASE!!!

Dear PDA experts, please help me!!
since a couple of days I am having a VERY annoying problem with my HTC Diamond. This occurs when I am using the original hands-free. It looks like the cable is losing contact or making an incorrect contact...
So, when using the hands-free, the phone starts dialing the last dialed number by itself. When I am listening to music, the music stops and I am hearing how the phone is dialing. This usually happens, when I make the move to put my phone in my pocket. Also, when I speak with someone, the phone automatically puts him on hold, which is even more annoying for the other party! The problem persists even when I switch off the phone module, it still tries dialing!
I had tried many times to get rid of the voice dialer (sddialer.exe), but I cannot delete or rename the file even when I connect the Diamond to a PC. Finally I have disabled it from the registry and it still starts dialing when I make the move to stick it into my pocket!
And I dont have the impression, that the cable is somehow defective, as when I am listening to music, it does not break up. And it always does, when there is a problem with the cable, unfortunately I have a lot of experience with defective hand-frees. Please please help me!! It is not worthy to buy a new handsfree for such an old phone... Is there a way to disable all the buttons of the hands-free, it is the last possible solution I can think of...?
Use the lock screens
My Diamond did that too.
There are several lock screen capabilities that you can enable under settings. More important if you added a custom Rom they usually have a few different options.
With the custom Rom I was running, I could make a call and after pushing the power button, it would lock the phone when on the line with someone. This would happen if you hit any button after the power button was pressed (which usually turns off the screen).
Hope that helps.

Galaxy note broken screen but need data on phone

Right well the story goes, i got hit by a car 2 days ago and my galaxy note screen is smashed, the screen is completely black and unresponsive to touch i think ( as the menu and the back button light up when i press the home button. I cant seem to unlock the phone. Also when connecting to Kies it just stay on "connecting" but never actually connects, there's pictures and music and important work docs on there, especially all my contacts.
So is there any way i can get onto the phone and access all the data and get it ?

My suggestion would be to reboot to recovery and try to mount storage from there using hardware keys to navigate. This is risky though seeing as how you can't see what is on the screen but if you know the exact version of CWM it shouldn't be too hard to do, especially if you can get someone else to guide you through using their device as a reference point.
