So, i received this droid from a friend recently to attempt to fix it, but the middle left of the screen when I touch it, it looks like it is vibrating the screen, then it switches to the next home screen to the right. Likewise the "bottom" of the screen when I'm using the physical keyboard doesn't respond at all. And at the same time the back button lights, but no response and no haptic feedback, but id does light with the others. Odd.
Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated seeing as though I love this phone! Btw I am running rooted droid, MIUI 1.3.25, however these problems have been on it since before rooting.
Thanks again!

Hello,
I am new to Nexus one coming from Iphone 3G. the phone is quite good but i experience a little problem.
When the phone is plugged in and is charging, the touch screen becomes very inaccurate. Typing on keyboard is impossible...etc, the only solution is to use the trackball. Everything is gone after unplugging it from the power cord.
Do you have any advice for solving this ?
Best Regards,
I've heard that if you press the power button to put the phone asleep and then press it again to wake the phone would reset the touchscreen

Is the phone getting hot while you are charging it?
I found that when it gets really hot that it can mess up the touchscreen a little.
Common problem, no fix for it. Just black out the screen, and the problem resets itself and goes away. Takes 1 second. It's a hardware issue.
i have same problem too....
sorry... wrong post
Thank you for your answer, i understand that plugged or hot can mess the touch screen. It's not "fixable", i will live with it.
I sent mine back 3 times and it is finally fixed. I have a perfect touch screen. Have not had san issue in over 2 weeks. Send back and leave note with your phone. As I said I would not except no for an answer.

Is anyone else having this issue as well I can get rid of it I've tried everything to what happens is sometimes when my phone is asleep tonight wake it up it's completely unresponsive, the screen turns on but I can't do anything other than hit the power button on and off and volume other than that I am stuck on the same screen. Also when I wake up in the morning after charging my phone overnight it is always frozen like this but even worse when it has been more than a few hours. Could this be related to using an alternative home? I have used both launcher pro and adw with the same results. I have never had this with any of my other android phones. Any ideas?

Take it to Verizon and get a switchout.
Before I do that I would like to make sure that it isn't software based otherwise I will just run into the same issue.

I haven't experienced that issue, but something similar. About once every 2 days my phone won't wake at all. The notification light seems to be working, but pressing the power/lock button doesn't wake the phone, screen stays black and I have to pull the battery. If I call the phone while it's in this state, nothing happens on the Bionic's side, but the phone I calling from hears 4 rings before going to voicemail. I've uninstalled Widget Locker and Home Switcher to see if either of them are the culprit.
awesome, thanks
I would do a factory rest and see if it was a software problem first.

Do you have in pocket detection on under settings? Try turning that off. I was having major issues like that when I was using that setting.

Hi guys,,
my motorola milestone's softkeys have stopped working..
back, home, menu and search button,,
i tried to factor reset the phone,, bboth soft and hard but still no luck..
let me tell what happened..
i was watching some movies when it happened..
i was able to send a message before it occrred..
then i placed it on top of my laptop..
after some 15 mins.. i heard some weird noise from it..
it seemed to be possessed.. vibrations is audible.. then i checked the phone... the touched screen is not working at first.. so i turned the mobile off..
then i turned it back on.. the touch screen works fine... responsive as it always..but when i press the soft keys it stopped working
any idea how this happned??
is there any way to fix this???
ideas would be greatly appreciated
Button savior / virtual button bar.
Your digitizer is dieing/dying.
Or maybe another problem. When I replaced mine, the first I got it was like yours, my buttons didn't work so I got around with button savior. The second one i got work flawless.
Good luck.

thanks for the reps dude... really appreciate it..
i think its the digitizer... but i think its kinda weird that the screen works flawlesly.. its just that the softkeys recognize the touch its just the area whose reacting is on the top of the soft keys.. but the entire screen is really responsive..
it's the digitizer
on my milestone it started with the back button not responding and yesterday it died completely. at least the ghost touches are almost gone but now the whole display is not responding. good thing we have a hardware keyboard
Same problem, touching the button area and the digitizer recognized as touching the upper area.
Thanks.
I was suspecting the connector as the digitizer was new, or it supposed to be, but now I know.

Seem to be having real issues at the moment with a lack of response from these buttons. Don't remember the phone being like it when I first got it in fact it seemed very responsive. I find now I am having to press the back button several times or even kind of having to slide my finger over the button to get it to resister. I can recall a previous phone of mine having a very similar issue, think it was the Sony erricson satio but really did spoil the operation of the phone.
Anyone else experience this?

Operation of the dock shortcuts is fine as is the sensitivity of the home screen, even with the screen protector on, it's just the back and home button.

There has been a few threads on this, seems like a common issue. However theyre apparently looking at a software update to improve sensitivity- https://twitter.com/htc_uk/status/319748247075819520
I can confirm it... Is that a software problem?

I'm having the same issue, which is starting to annoy me. Not sure whether these things get worse or not, but as my wife's hasn't got the same issue, I'm not sure it's software??!! Should we be asking for the phone to be changed???
Is there supposed to be vibration when pressing the soft keys? I'm not getting any vibration and it would go some way towards helping me with the responsiveness of the buttons.

This is a software issue in the kernel.. HTC or the XDA developers should have no issues fixing it

Agreed. It's more the lack of feedback that makes them difficult to use. I have the feeling that they are sensitive enough. The problem is that there is no feedback. You just don't know where the tap is registered.

Vibrations can be enabled through settings.
I have to use my thumb to use them, they don't register my finger at all, just so annoying, I would rather a home button like the GS2.

I have it set in "Settings" -> "Sound" -> "Vibrate on touch" but I still dont get any vibrate on soft key press.
Vibrations for the capacitive buttons are turned off if you have the power saver on, regardless if you've turned vibrations on via settings.
For some reason I'm getting a much better response from the Back and Home keys when I use nova launcher as opposed to the stock sense launcher.

Ah thank you, it's working for me now.
Just got my replacement note 4,not sure if old one did this, but when after having screen asleep when hitting power or home button to wake screen up the touch keys will sometime lightly blink once before coming completely on with screen, doesn't do it every time,it's a bit random, wondering if anyone else see's this flicker?
To test if you turn off touch key duration completely in display settings, and then turn screen off and back on u can see the touch keys still ever so slightly light up,at least on mine, just trying to figure out if normal or not.
