Hi guys, I hope u can help me with this.
You see, every time I tried to open Music app on my SGT, I encounter force closes. I tried restart the SGT but same problems appear.
It is said that "The application Music (process com.android.music) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
Does anyone can extract the original APK for me? Much appreciated.
ps: I'm on original ROM.
Did you freeze, disable, or remove drm apps? That blows up my media playback.

I think yes, but I did that by accident and didn't know how it happened.
Btw, I managed to install the 'honeycomb' version of MUSIC so consider my post to be SOLVED.

Hi all
Last week got the N700XXLA4 update.
Now I am unable to use Allshare to play back videos (or music) on my Note. The vids are on my Netgear NAS. Allshare sees the NAS, allows me to browse the folders, shows the vids, but when I try to play one, the screen turns black, and after about 10 - 20 seconds, I receive an error message. "sorry Allshare needs to close, please try again later" or somesuch.
Restarted the phone, did not help.
Anyone else having this problem? Ideas how to solve it?
thx
Clearing the app cache may help..
Sorry to say that clearing the cache did not help.
Am I correct in assuming I am the only one who has this problem? Can you guys use Allshare to playback videos (stored on a NAS) on your Note?
I bet an arm and a foot that you've changed the DPI?

Please send them in a fresh box through UPS. I hope you have been working out and they are strong and reliable.
Did not change anything. My device is not rooted - I don't even think it is possible to change the dpi if not rooted.
Anyway, I found a work around. I just use ES file explorer, browse to the NAS shared folders, and open the vid files like that. Then they stream.
Still, bugs me that Allshare won't do it.
Hi guys, I've been encountering very annoying issue with the Media Scanner in my phone:
My newly added media doesn't appear in the Music app nor my Gallery app. This issue happened especially to all my mp4 videos in my external SD; they didnt appear in the Videos app nor the Gallery app. Now my newly added music doesnt even appear in there as well.
The android.process.media force closes all the time too.
I've tried clearing the Media Storage file in the settings, installed most of the apps that force the media scanner service, but to no avail. I've even cleared all my android data in my internal and external SDs.
Any solutions? Thanks!
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA Developers App.
try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.addz.mediascanner
if rooted try

I'll try, but I'm skeptical that it will work, I think the problem lies beyond the media scanner service.
:/ Didn't work. I'll try to search around. I suspect one of my media files is crashing the service, as when media scanner is running, the media.process.android will force close a few minutes after.
worth installing the ICS rom over it again

Indeed! Installed the leaked Jellybean ROM, and everything was ok! The default gallery Media Scanner is troublesome..

i think it pauses because when i open the screenn i see the notification of the application being paused
also the ram problems occur when people browse and listen to music but i listen to music while my phone screen is off
Do you have to restart the song from the beginning or has it seleted another one? If so then it might me closed due to RAM problems.

Well sometimes you cant help it. It is a known issue with this device.
You can always wipe data of the walkman application and test again.

there must be something to fix it
You could try a factory reset of that ROM and test the walkman app without any other applications to see if it is app related or not.

tried and still the same
Reflash the ROM is the only thing I can suggest at the moment.

I also experienced such glitches with music interruptions, i'm using walkman and V4A when using my phone as mp3 player. I found SOME SORT of solution and that its -- UNINSTALL ANY SD CARD TWEAKS such as SD read ahead speed or set it to device default. I suspect that maybe the tweak isn't needed coz i'm using Class-10 SDcard and applying such tweaks might be "SUPERFLOUS" and thus causing issues with music playback.
But then if still you get no better results...last option would be to USE ANOTHER ROM and uninstall the later. Just my opinion:fingers-crossed:

2 Solutions
1) If You are Rooted Then Delete Music.apk and Music.odex from /system/app folder
2) If Not Rooted Than Open Settings go to Manage apps .... at the bottom there is written default app settings click on it and then select music player and change the default
Hope it helps

thank you dear
i'm not rooted and tried to make any other music app as a default and problem not solved
I'm rooted and used Rom Toolbox (or any root app manager) to freeze the "Music" app, the only pro of doing this is that you will get the coverart of any music player you're listening to (SoundCloud, Poweramp, etc.) but the controls won't work anyway (it was discussed here).
Solution without rooting
Hi, I found a solution without the need to root your device in another forum. Since it's in German, I'll quickly translate the instructions:
In ES File Explorer go to /device/system/app
In that folder, look for the file "HwMediaCenter.apk" and touch to install it
If you get a warning not to install apps from unknown sources accept to install this app and proceed
The installation will start now and finish with an error message, which is to be expected
Restart your phone
The annoying default music player should have disappeared. The reason being that due to the unsuccessful installation attempt it got removed/deactivated.

I have my new Z3 compact and can use the walkman app to throw music to a DLNA device, sound comes out, all good so far, but i can stop or pause the track. only way to stop it playing is to disconnect from the DLNA device.
I have downloaded an alternative app and that works fine, pause, stop etc.
any idea's please?

Perhaps a reboot might do the trick for you.
You can also try wiping the app's data/cache(settings -> apps- > walkman -> clear data/clear cache.
Lastly, if you are rooted there might be a module/app that is causing this behavior.

I had tried a re-boot, no change
I have now tried clearing data/cache, also deleting updates back to factory default, still no change
i have found now that if i hit the home button and then re-enter the app i can start a different tune but i still cannot pause or stop the current song from either the app or the mini GUI from the notifications screen.
it does appear to buffer as i start the song playing.
i'm not rooted
any more help please ?
Cheers Paul.

Have you tried a different device? I'm starting to think this may be device related.
