Hi, i have tried all android builds, those using ext2 partition, and those which don't need it, on different roms, different radios, with and without swap partition, but android always hangs after a while.
Both partitions are set to primary. I used task29 before each flash. SD Card was always formatted. Don't know what else can i do to make it work.
I noticed that it has something to do with gsm, because when i try to turn it off, then nothing happens, and after a while android freezes.
anyone found a solution to this problem ?
if you don't have solution for my problem , then please tell me what you are doing to make it work, step by step, maybe i'm doing something wrong ... i would be really happy to have android on my phone
i have the same problem
i dont even know it related to gsm, if did not post about this.
i already ask about this on neopeek forum, but still did not solve the problem.
maybe you could visit neopeek forum, explain the problem (from your prespective), then we can help the dev to solve this problem
i turned off gsm and android was working fine, but when i turned it back on , then phone hanged after a while ... so , it is related with gsm

I think you may have something here.
I get some hangs, and the screen fails to wake some times with SIM card in.
If i remove SIM everything seems fine i can not make it to hang.
RADIO: 1.16
I've experienced this too. In fact I struggled to even install with most kernels as it would hang at the initial setup wizard. Once the sim card was removed it installed fine, and runs much better. My radio is version 1.17.25.09.
the people in neopeek forum suggest me to change radio
right now i'm using version 1.16.25
bobblesop use 1.17.25
XangoAbada, which version you're using right now?
right now i'm using 1.17.25 radio, but i tried all radios available on xda forum, and all kernels from sp3dev and sandeans, result always is the same, adroid hangs
I have the same problem.
For me works:
- cyanogen 6.1 thread from neopeek
- kernel from xdandroid.2 from this thread
- radio 1.14.25.55
- Energy ROM (updated yesterday)
Try this too and say if your problem gone.
I don't know what's the reason of hanging android. Kernels: sp3dev, seandean doesn't work for me
PS. SIM with pin
gsobczyk , your combination really works ;P how is battery on that kernel ? and what should we do now, when we know what works and what not ? don't know if any developer will have time to resolve our problem :/
Battery - not so good. I use android from time to time and test some kernels (first installed android - 4 days ago ). I'm not android's kernel developer so I have only hope that someone find the reason of this behavior.
I'm wondering if presence of PIN code has difference. Unfortunately I can't disable it.
i have disabled asking for pin, so i don't have problem with this ... and i think it's not related with the hanging problem ... i think it's something with the gsm driver ... maybe on neopeek forum they will find the answer
there is a solution for our hanging problem

How i solved my hangs: (happened to me with all versions i tried)
Go to settings -> wireless & network settings -> mobile networks -> uncheck "Data enabled", reboot.
if it hangs before you can get there, remove the sim card and try again.
radio 1.10xxxx
rom winmo 6.1

now enjoy your android and use any kernel you like
i am also with the hanging problem after i click in open wifi it's hang there ...with kernel sp3dev 1.17 also
I have the issue where the hardware buttons freeze....I have to restart the damn thing...but from using it for 6 hours to now 3 DAYS..it isnt a bad progress at all...
Installed cyanogen 6.1 on a G1 I just acquired at no cost but now can't setup my "google account" errors out about not being able to find reliable data network.
Initially I had wiped the phone with the stock ROM and was able to do the initial sign-up of the google account and tested the android market without much of a problem.
After alot of reading, root and learning about Android via a crash course. I was able to sucessfully install cyanogen 6.1 but now I can't setup the phone.
I thought that my trial and error method of getting things working may have caused the problem so I did a complete wipe and started from scratch (minus the error) once more to make sure everything was good. But still no go on setting the google account.
Yes, I do have a dataplan as I was using an HTC TouchPro2 before this.
Any ideas?
SPL: HDBOOT - 1.33.0013d
Radio: 2.22.28.25
ROM: update-cm-6.1.0-DS-2708port_S, gapps-mdpi-tiny20101020-signed.
At the Google Sign-in screen, hit menu, APN, enter your APN.
There should be a skip option on CM anyway.
APN looks correct. I'm able to skip the sign-up but I can't access anything that requires net access. No android market; no browser...nothing.
Did you flash gapps after flashing the rom? Not all roms come pre-installed with gapps.

Yes, I installed gapps-mdpi-tiny20101020-signed
dump a logcat using adb during boot process perhaps?
or try checking the SIM with another phone. similar thing happened to me once-upon-a-time, and apparently it was the SIM and not the phone *doh*
I had the same problem but when i reboot the phone the problem is solved for some time ( 1 a 2 hours) so i have to reboot my phone a lot.
im having the same problem with cm6. i have tried going to biffmod and get the same problem and data is turmed on.
Yep, tried another mod same issue; also went as far as to unroot it and problem still exists.
Does anyone know if the Radio firmware could be the potential culprit?
SIM card works fine on my HTC TouchPro2...running android
Try a diff radio perhaps, not sure if thats the issue.
It has got to be the APN... Do you get a G/E/3G icon?
Just wanted to updated that I have now been able to successfully get CM 6.1.0 working on the G1. Seems that it all came together once I received my G2 and my data plan was changed.
Yay!!
Hello Guys,
Does anyone know about the Signal Strength Problem?
The Extreme Edition for Darky's Rom, Have some Wifi Error Problem and Lower Signal problem. While I am using 9.0.2 Version Signal for me is quite Strong. Yet, the change of the 9.1 and 9.2 version, i faced some Error Problem for Wifi and force to reboot all the time to get connect to Wifi. The Wifi Connection in setting will state Error but i try to reconnect to Wifi, it seem to keep connect and disconnecting.
I already have the Darky's Configurator and tick the alternative wifi driver but nothing changes. Darky's can you please help on this?? Is this because of the phone compatibility version do not cope with the Darky's Rom Version? Urgently need help..
Thank you
*Yet, i would like to thank darky for the continuing trying to improve the ROM.
Thank again.
Regards,
Jonathan

When I'm using 9.1 previously with the Configurator App. Then I re-flash everything again when go into 9.2.
i had the same issue and did a research around XDA forums and Darky's ROM forums. I found a fix for this bug.
I have attached both fixes but i've used the v8.0 fix and it seems to be working great.
- put the ZIP file on your root directory of your internal SD
- reboot into recovery
- apply any zip from SD
- choose zip from SD
- apply and reboot
* steps above may not be the exact wording but u get the picture

ive tried both them zips n i still cant connect to our wifi, any ideas?
I had the same problem but its easy to solve:
Go to wireless settings on your phone
Find APN Settings, if theres nothing do a new apn with your internets name. ( I mean like, who you pay for, its hard to tell in english...) Like here in finland is dna, saunalahti etc.
Leave the default settings and done!
G1 wifi has stopped working and has 'error' listed underneath wifi option in wireless setting...
Also, the sd card doesn't mount... what's worse is this problem is intermittent..
I'm currently using FroyobyLaszlo 5 and the problems are both still here.. I was using cm6.1 for awhile and eventually tried a couple other roms, but the wifi error and sdcard problem carry over thru each flash. I forget which rom i flashed to where the wifi function broke.. I've flashed back to the cm6.1 2708port nandroid backup I saved (which was the last working rom where I had working wifi) and still the wifi error! I've tried a few different kernels as well and still nothing..
Can somebody help me get these fixed?? ..thanks
hboot - 1.33.0013d

UPDATE 1: I began to re-flash the original tmobile nbh image in order to restore the phone and start all over again, but now I'm stuck with that image flashed and can't access fastboot on the phone anymore.. The phone probably needs to be re-rooted now, but I can't access wifi (which means I can't sign in to google in order to get to the phone's desktop and then perform the root procedure).. Now I can't flash anything!! HELP plz???
hboot - 0.95.0000
radio - 1.2.12.29
UPDATE 2 - Ok, I got everything (hboot 1.33.0013d , radio 2.22.28.25, laszlo 5.1 rom) flashed back to the G1 again, but the wifi error persists and so does the intermittent sd card issue.. I think the sd card problem may be hardware related..sometimes It'll work for a minute after I remove the card and re-insert it, then it'll stop working again..
*edit* Can someone or has someone already made a patch to disable the function of that little trigger inside the micro sd card reader on the g1?? That little switch that pushes in when u close the sd card cover.. Apparently, this might cause my sd card to not function, so I figured that somebody may have made a patch to disable this and make the sd card work outright without that little button inside needed..
First, try a SuperWipe. Sometimes junk gets left around even after a wipe through recovery that causes very weird problems.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834812
I haven't heard of a patch to do that. It might not even be possible if it is implemented in hardware. You could try opening the phone and modify it to always keep that trigger closed, as a last resort.

ok i'm gonna try to flash superwipe2 but atm the sd card isn't readable even in recovery, so I'm gonna have to play around and hope I get lucky and the sd mounts in order for me to flash superwipe... if/when it happens, i'll post an update..
finally managed to superwipe AND re-flash laslo 5.1..
the g1 still has the wi-fi 'error' and of course the sd only works intermittently.. I lost count how many re-boots and how many times i re-inserted the microSD card until i finally got it to work long enough to flash it this time
so what files are involved in the wifi anyway?? Can I manually replace a driver perhaps?... or something?!?
The wifi kernel module is located at "/system/lib/modules/wlan.ko". This really sounds like a hardware problem if it is occurring in recovery too. Have you tried ROMs other than laslo? Try a stable CyanogenMod or BiffMod ROM.

thnx , I'll read up on this..
and also, I've used cm6.1, 2708port cm 6.1, and sparksmod rom 2.. i had biffmod installed for like a minute or so before i switched to something else due to the wfi error.. maybe i could try it again, I can't remember if there was something else wrong with biffmod or not, but I do know the wifi issue carries over thru different roms.. pretty much on all these roms I've experienced lag, fc's, broken apps, battery drain, and now the wifi problem and sdcard problem..

so can I download and replace the wifi kernel module with any one I can find? or does it need to be a specific one? I still need to fix wifi... thnx
No, the wifi kernel module has to be built specifically for kernel. You can try flashing a different kernel (with a wifi module) though. Here are some to try:
2.6.35.11 by Pershoot: http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/?p=1563
2.6.34.8 by ezterry: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11565574&postcount=670

for 2.6.35.11 pershoot, I get the 'failed' error when flashing thru recovery.. i used the nfs_32b_radio2708.zip
for 2.6.34.8, I've flashed and rebooted and still the same wifi error =(
Is the "wifi module" already included in each kernel zip?? Or do I need that too??
thnx

Read through the whole post again. That isn't the kernel.

It is included with the kernel.
a user on another forum posted "Could you guys check if your wlan kernel module is loaded? Open up the terminal emulator, then su to root and run 'lsmod'?
For me, I get 3 modules now: wlan, ramzswap and ipv6.
When it was broken for me, I didn't have wlan."
well I don't have wlan listed either, even though i have the wlan.ko file in /system/lib/modules...
EDIT: finally got 2.6.35.11 flashed and installed, but still same wifi error =(
I have just developed this problem as well...on one of 7 phones. I have taken it back to 29 on 2 ocassions, bringing it back to ezterrys gingerbread. at 29 I get wifi error.... at cm6.1 I get wifi error....and at GB also get wifi error. Looking in logs, I see (in RED) 00:00 00:00:00.000 E/WiFi Service (132) on next line (also in RED) Failed to Load Wi-Fi driver.
Reading thru these forums..I see a few folks having this same error....but no one seems to have a fix.
Can anyone shed some light on this topic...
Thanks a million.
Hi everyone I have an HTC VIVID with S-ON i put miui 2.9.14 and my sound volume is extremely low especially the in call volume also my gps doesn't work like the Google maps navigation or maps cant connect the gps either does anyone have a solution to the sound or gps issue?
Try to reflash the Rom and try different kernels sometimes helps also.
I've tried everything every time I install a new kernel it either knocks out my wifi or gets stuck on the white htc screen anyone with any ideas?

Which kernels have you tried? And have you performed a full wipe/re-install of the rom for each different kernel you have tried?
Where did you find this version of MIUI? I'd like to try it out...

When having unfixable problems sometimes the only thing that will work is returning to stock. Relock and start all over from the very beginning.

I just installed MIUI 2.9.29 on my Bell Raider (which has a current base of the Rogers ICS RUU). I am S-OFF so I'm sure the kernel flashed fine as part of the rom install, but I went into Settings/About Phone to confirm. It says it is running the faux kernel it comes with (3.0.33-MSM8660-Faux123-v007+)
- Call volume is just fine for me and when it is in Speaker mode it goes pretty loud! However - It doesn't seem to do LTE (dealbreaker for me). I checked the APN. It had everything correct. I only get HSDPA. I even went into the special phone menu and the choices were only GSM or WCDMA (no LTE items listed).
- GPS also seemed to work fine for me. I installed Google Maps from the market, launched it, the GPS icon started flashing in the notification bar, and it detected my exact location pretty quickly.
- The gallery and music player showed duplicates of each photo/song for me. Strange!
I still wonder if it's a kernel issue you're having. When you do a fresh flash of MIUI, and boot into it, go into Settings/About Phone, scroll down, and check what it says for Kernel Version. Also, if you go to flash a different kernel manually via fastboot (immediately after a fresh install of the rom), go into that same menu and see if the kernel you flahed is listed.
If the kernels don't seem to be flashing, I wonder if your phone has to experience an 'insecure' kernel flash first (this can be done by flashing Kozmik's 'stockish' kernel via fastboot). I'm not sure if this even applies to S-ON phones though...
I do agree with drwario though - starting fresh from scratch (re-locking bootloader and running your specific stock ICS RUU) is a good idea.
you are s-on? sounds like what happens when you dont flash kernel correctly. try to flash the kernel using fastboot and see if it fixes it
Relock your bootloader then reflash it to stock with no interruptions then just go back unlock the bootloader and reflash your Rom make sure that if u are s-on to flash the kernel.via fastboot
