[Q] G1 updated SPL and Radio, RC7 still wont boot - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, can't get passed the G1 screen, I've rooted my NookColor and thought, hey I could do this to my phone.... guess not
TIRED OF SEARCHING, just simply trying to install Ginger Yoshi RC7 or RC6.1
After I answer no to the few questions, (partitioned, y/N,stock launcher and 60 something) It completes the install of the ROM so then I power off (remove the bat) and boom, stuck at the G1 screen when I power on.
Steps I took to get here:
1) Put all zip files into root of SD
2) Download install ClockModRecovery
3) Boot into recovery using ClockMod from market
4) superwipe, remove bat, power on, recovery mode
5) flash Radio remove bat, power on, recovery mode
6) flash hboot remove bat, power on, recovery mode
7) Flashed ROM, remove bat, power on... Now stuck at G1 Screen
I gathered my information from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932118
Here's what I see (Camera + power)

Your SPL radio combo is not compatible to your ROM. try SPL 13d and radio 2708 combo. This will also give you 14MB extra.

Really? I stole my info from the Yoshi guys signature. dang, okay, where can I [FOUND it] SPL 13d and radio 2708 combo?
THANKS MAN!!

LOL! That's the first stealing it from someone sig. Thanks for making me laugh. (no pun intended)
There are different combo on SPL/radio out that will work with a certain ROM. And sometime depends on what being loaded (flash).
Try this link below by ezTerry. Follow his instruction and it should be OK!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831139
You can also try different ROM. Like the one I use. Make sure if you flash SuperAosp to also flash the 15MB-boot file. Then that will be OK.
EDIT:
Oh BTW, I checked the guy sig. New SPL does not meant the same as what you have.
Phone: Black G1
ROM:ginger Yoshi RC7

When you flashed the SPL did you physically press alt-s and home + back to reboot? (and not use the trackball)
Just trying to make sure it actually flashed. Could you also check by boot in to SPL (Home and camera ) and tell us what version it is?

No problem man
Okay, you're still on hardSPL XD
Basically when you flash the radio or SPL on Cyan's recovery, you must physically press the buttons to flash. Using the trackball will mean that when you reboot it will revert to how it was. You do have the correct radio, but not SPL.
So, grab the SPL and name it update.zip (as when cant flash any zip because that requires the trackball), alt-w to wipe, alt-s to flash, home+back to reboot. Don't touch the trackball at all.
when you boot up there will be no ROM, SPL flash formats your nand. So, after SPL flah leave your phone for a couple of minutes to be safe, then boot in to recovery and go to console. Type "ums_enable" to mount your sd in your computer so you can copy a ROM over. The "ums_disbale" when you're done and then "reboot recovery". Now wipee and flash, you can use the track ball for that too

Sounds like you might have a bricked device if you didnt install the 26I radio before when you first rooted.
Crud, crud crud crud! This is my gf's mom's dream... Was running a custom rom, cant remember which one it is... Now i am absolutely in the dog house. Any ideas on what i can do? Its not totally, bricked, is it?? Is there any such thing as a goldcard for the dream? Need help asap.
Nothing you can do, should have read the instructions.
Yes there is a goldcard for the dream, but it won't help you if the phone won't boot.
Is this a semi-brick or a full, unrecoverable brick? It does get to the htc dream splash screen, then stays there

Full brick, there really isnt a partial brick. Brick is completely unusable (no recovery, bootloader, or os), a semi-brick as you call it would be just no rom or no rom and recovery- but full access to bootloader

Once its off Press and Hold The End Call Button and the camera button at the same time and once its done loading up tell me what you see.

Code:

haykuro spl will let you flash hero/ eclair roms
long story short haykuro spl will leave you with more internal memory, and bleh blah bleh
make sure you flash the latest radio before flashing the the spl. or you will brick your phone.

**Not responsible if this messes up your phone in anyway.**
**Just follow instructions and you wont have a heart attack**
This is to flash the SPL:
http://code.google.com/p/sapphire-port-dream/ = Latest SPL
Dont worry about the OTA radio thing. Just get the SPL.
1.Put the SPL into the root of your sdcard and rename it update.zip (if you dont have latest recovery image)
1.Reboot into recovery (Turn off Phone. then press and hold both Home and End Call buttons.)
2.Go to where it says Flash zip from sdcard and click on it.
3.choose the update.zip which is the SPL and flash it.
4.let it install and DO NOT TOUCH IT OR DO ANYTHING TO YOUR PHONE AT ALL WHILE ITS BEING FLASHED. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH.
5.When its done reboot your phone.
6.If you go to the G1 boot screen and it stays like that dont worry just take the battery out of your phone and put it back in. then reboot to recovery mode again.
7.The reason it stays in the G1 boot screen is because you need to flash a new ROM otherwise your phone wont work like normal.
Instructions for Flashing a rom:
**After Danger SPL has been Flashed**
1.Reboot your phone into recovery.
2.Wipe everything. Just in case. *make a backup first*
3.Find ROM you want.
4.Rename to update.zip (If you have Amon_RA's v1.5.2 Recovery Image then you dont need to rename.
5.Put the ROM on the root of your sdcard. (To mount the phone through the recovery just plug in the phone then click on where it says "USB-MS Toggle")
6.Unmount the Phone from the computer (Press Home to disable USB-MS Toggle to safely remove phone) and un plug it.
7.Go to where it says Flash Zip from sdcard and click on it.
8.You should see the rom which is a zip file.
9.Click on it and when it asks you if thats the rom that you wish to flash just press the home button.
10.Let it install and once its done it will say
"Install from sdcard complete: Please Reboot"
11.Click on the reboot system now option or hold down home and the end call buttons at the same time.
12. And voila you have the new ROM installed.
Remember if you are going to be switching from ROM to ROM then make sure to:
Do a Factory Reset Wipe
Do a EXT Wipe
Do a Dalvik-Cache Wipe.
I hope this helps dude.
OMG! I love you man. Thank you. I was afraid I bricked my phone because it it was stuck on g1 screen but i did what u said and loaded the rom and it worked. thank you!

Did you flash the radio and the SPL without rebooting first?
In the WiKi you can find more information.

Did you check, that the new radio was really intalled? I suppose something went wrong and you were still on the 1.x radio. Then you flashed the DangerSPL, which is incompatible with that radio version ... Sorry, but there is only the possibility to find someone who knows to JTAG your phone.
i can jtag my phone, the shematix of jtag dongle is very simple and i can find parts for it in my country. Only one thing: i do not know where i can find bootloader for dream!

Did you try fastboot? If booting system and recovery fails *properly* (means you are lucky) then you will be able to use fastboot from the g1 screen (will say fastboot usb on top of the screen when you plug it into your computer).
Good luck with that one.

Yes phone rebooted. but after that i flashed him with standart rc29. can standart rom downgrade the radio?
rc 29 was the DREAM.NBH??(been awhile)
if it was, then yes. it contained a radio img that flashed over yours and if your phone is in your hand when reading this, you have a brick in your hand sir.

[Q] Problem with my HTC Dream/G1 ( Rogers )

Hi guys!
I've bought a HTC Dream ( Rogers ) on eBay and I receive it this morning. The phone was already root and it was using a Cyanogen mod for Froyo 2.2.
Then, I wanted to put the phone back in the stock ROM ( unrooted ) to do the process by myself to learn how it works. So I went on google and I found a tutorial ( sorry, can't give the link since I am a new user ) that told me to download the original SPL and .nbh ( got the T-Mo G1 .nbh ) and to go on recovery mode to flash the update.zip to apply the SPL update.
Here is the problem, I think I did the wrong thing and now my phone is stuck in a reboot loop and every time, it ends on the Recovery menu and I don't know what to do...
Please, anyone, help me fix my phone...
1. Turn off the phone (or pull out the battery).
2. Hold down the BACK and POWER button for about 2 seconds.
3. What does it say on the screen?

Thanks for your time and help.
Do you have any more idea?
Well, to get your phone to start back up and usable again is to download this and put it on the root of your SD card. Enter Recovery Mode by holding down the HOME and POWER button. Go down to "flash zip" or something among those words. Select the file and flash it.
That is DangerSPL, which is compatible with your currently installed radio (2.22.19.26I), so there is no need to worry about a brick. However, you'll want to verify that you have that radio installed by entering bootloader mode (BACK and POWER button).
Afterwards when your phone starts back up to Cyanogenmod, you'll probably want to follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4330749#post4321428
I can't access to the recovery menu. Every time I boot the device, I am stuck at the red-green-blue-white screen with the informations about my device ( the informations I gave you yesterday ).
Are you sure? When you try to hold HOME and POWER, it doesn't boot into recovery mode? This is a hard one, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe the DREAIMG.nbh you were trying to flash was corrupted, or maybe your Camera/Back button is stuck, and every time you power on the phone, it thinks you want to power into Bootloader? Check to see.
On my SD card, I juste have haykuro_new_spl-signed plus the things that Android put automatically on the SD Card
I just found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544654
A guide on how to root a Rogers G1. Scroll down to the part where Haykuro edited his post to include a "how to unroot". It'll probably help.
Unfortunately, I can't access to the fastboot mode, here's a video to show you where I'm stuck:
http://img547.imageshack.us/i/file7761.mp4
Do you have Danger/Hard SPL? The stock SPL that comes with the phone doesn't support fastboot (at least on my G1).
Edit:
When rebooting and holding down camera button, If it shows:
HBOOT-0.95.0000 -- You have the stock SPL.
HBOOT-0.95.3000 -- You have the engineering SPL.
HSPL10.95.3000 -- You have HardSPL.
HBOOT-1.33.2005 -- You have Danger SPL
I have the stock SPL ( 0.95.0000 )
What should I do then?
Anyone have an idea? You probably know that it suck having a phone that you can't use :/

The problem is you flashed a non rogers nbh when you unrooted.. and now you can't reflash it because it the rom is for tmobile and the phone says it can only flash rogers roms.
And since you have a very old spl you can't even flash the rogers rom..
To fix this you will need a gold card.. (maybe a friend or a spare htc phone can help you make one)
Once you have a gold card you can download that orange nbh I have in the 2708 thread, rename it DREAIMG.nbh and place it on the root of the sdcard.
That will flash an engineering spl (and a old french rom) with the eng spl you can flash a recovery and continue from their, or follow the 2708 instructions.
What if I dont know anybody with an htc or an Android phone? :/
My problem is the same.
Except for the following differences on the bootloader screen info:
DREA110 PVT 32B RUUNBH
&
RADIO-1.22.12.29

Possibly Bricked Rogers Dream

OK so i had a HTC Dream with supergingerbread or something installed with
SPL: 1.33.0013d (hboot)
RADIO: 2.22.27.08 / 28.25
It drained battery while i was doing something at 4 hours, and 12 hours on idle and only on idle.
I decided to install superfroyo 2.6 but it gave me a error ( status 7 ) on my recovery.
I thought it might have been because of the SPL and RADIO so i tried to install DeathSPL and RADIO 3.22.26.17 and the guide i was following told me to install the radio first which i did. after i finished flashing the radio my phone told me to reboot and so i did. an android with a download bar showed up and in the next 5 seconds i could boot at all, stuck at rogers screen and fastboot or recovery wont boot up.
At times tho i get passed the rogers screen but then all i get is a black screen and sometimes there bars going across the screen probably because it thinks i flipped the screen or something ( accelerometer is acting up =/.
any help would be appreciated like maybe a cheap jtag place nearby toronto thats cheap or maybe even a more dangerous/less reliable option since i have nothing to lose =/.
thank you
I know you mentioned that it won't go into fastboot (back+power). Just want to know. What happends when you hold camera+power buttons? Will it come up with the other screen?
no that doesnt work, i tried every button + power, all i found out is that the mysterious black screen comes up sometimes and if i do trackball + power, the screen goes black with a blue LED.
Here is some info I found. See if it works.
if you are willing to lose almost everything on your phone that is installed on your internal memory then...
1. Turn the G1 off. If it’s frozen on, take the battery out and put it back in the unit.
2. Hold the Home and Power keys down at same time for about 25 seconds. You will see a yellow triangle screen with exclamation point in the middle.
Now to wipe the device clean:
3. Press Alt+L.
4. Press Alt+W for a factory reset.
5. Press the Home and Back keys again for about 25 seconds.
The device should then reset again and the hard reset is complete.

@beenandroidized . I noticed that you got the same hboot and radio i was attempting to put on my g1.but now it won't boot up . Recovery and hboot still work and I know the problem is cause when i flashed the hboot it turned s-on on my g1. Do you know how to change it back to s-off ?
Sorry, I could not begin to tell you how to change it. Originally, I went I first rooted my G1 with instruction I found by googling, my G1 was at S-OFF. But after the ROM I had crashed on my and I had to reflash everything, my G1 is on S-ON. My guess it was the "Generic G1 ROM w/ Root" that I flashed at the time that changed it to S-OFF.

Rom doesn't change security. The spl does

Do me a favor and try to to these and see what happens. Turn off each time and do it.
home+power, hold for about 25 sec and release.
camera+power, hold for about 25 sec and release.
back+power, hold for about 25 sec and release.
call+menu+power, hold for about 25 sec and release.
Also try them with SD card out of the slot, and also with SIM card out of the slot.

Just something I found while I was googling on the subject. For some reason some one had mentioned that SD card gets corrupted and it can cause the phone to do that. And that was how they fixed their problem. Never hurt to try.

If you flash a radio or SPL from recovery in that the new combo is unable to boot the current recovery you get stuck in boot mode 3 unable to boot the phone, get into fastboot ect.
This is why fastboot was the recomended way to install 2708+ radio, SPL, and recovery.. it allowed for a safe way to go from any radio/eng SPL to the new stack.
I've never seen the 3.22 radios is an update.zip in the wild, but if you used one to go from a 2.22/ebi0 recovery to a 3.22/ebi1 recovery, but the ebi0 recovery still installed, you are likely now bricked.. only hope is recovery is not reconized and let's you access fastboot commands with the USB wire attatched (even if you are stuck on the splash screen)
My jtag method will repair this.. but I havn't jtagged a phone in a while and its become a boring long painful process. Not including the time for you to get the phone to me and for me to get it back to you. Its proven not worth it on my part.
