[Q] Screebl didn't work on CM7? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've flashed twice CM7 on my i9000, screebl always complained "orientation out of range", did anyone get same error?

I've got the same issue, its worked once on #14 + plat neo3 kernel but rebooted and lost the function, now its back to not registering the orientation.
maybe emailing the developer of screebl would be a option.

I think that you need to have auto-rotation turned on in some cm7 builds for screebl to work. It works on my build.

My camera has stopped working. It only turns on when it's on the car dock plugged in.
I have latest Cyanogen Gingerbread, latest radio, and camera just doesn't turn on. It hasn't turned on since Froyo, just very wierd.
Any idea's how to fix or troubleshoot?

have you tried clearing data/cache for the camera app? main phone settings, applications, manage applications, all, camera....
Use the "get back to stock" thread. That's all I can think of.
Have you dropped the phone at all?
So wait, you mentioned it didn't work since Froyo, and now it doesn't work on CM7? Presumably, you did a full wipe. And it still doesn't work? That's weird.
Like wdfowty said - try going back to stock.
Also, wrong subforum.
Yes I've always wiped, and it stopped working since Froyo. It works whenever it is on the car dock plugged in which is very wierd. But when i try to start it, the screen goes blank and it just sits there. Then I get the force close option or wait.
Really frustrating... :-(
Where is the get back to stock thread?
Dropped the phone few times, but it works in the Car Dock no problem.
I had similar issue when I install an incompatible kernel with Cyanogen Mod. Although obviously you're using CyanogenMod's default kernel, but do try a latest kernel for CyanogenMod and see if it can help.
Pershoot's kernel for CM:

IntersectRaven's:

Is there a kernel that is compatible for CM7? I kind of don't want to go back to Froyo...
I'm having the exact same problem; no camera, no torch. Any help would be greatly appreciated

FIXED: [Q] Cyanogenmod bluetooth

Hi All,
Sorry if this has been covered anywhere else but I can't find the same issue.
I have cyanogen 7 stable on my NC now and it works fantastically (even with overclock to 1GHz) There is an option to enable bluetooth but it just says "enabling bluetooth" for a few seconds and then goes back to being disabled.. I know some people have bt working with CM7 on the NC so what can the problem be?
/mrintegrity
Same problem with mine.
I fixed it, holding down power button untill it does a hard shutdown (instead of just a soft reboot) and then the next boot i was able to enable it. This has worked for other people too.

CM7 "stable"? Did I miss something?

He means the Nightly is running stable, not that there is a Stable version.
The hard reboot has worked for me as well. On one update flash, I also had to run the Fix Permissions process in ROM Manager and then do a hard reboot. After that, bluetooth was working as advertised.
Just remember this is STILL a work in progress, BT range ij the majority of cases is restricted to a foot or less and reading the various threads still a bit picky about what it will pair and connect with.

[Q] GPS Loses fix (and precision) when screen off

Hi people!
On my Galaxy S i9000 I have on Juwe 5.3 (JVR) with Semaphore 1.6.0.
I have the following problem: my GPS works (good accuracy and locking speed) only when the screen is on. As soon as the screen goes off, I lose the fix and precision, while using tracking apps like Runkeeper or My Tracks and diagnostic ones like GPS Status.
I've tried to force the CPU on 1000 MHz with Voltage Control but the problem remains so I'm guessing it's not a performance issue.
Any ideas?
Everything else works fine.
Thanks!
The same happens on my phone (albeit w/ CM7), but I don't mind, since that would eat the battery. I can see how that would render certain apps useless, though. I've used a few ROMs in my day, and never noticed GPS staying locked while the screen was off. I'm interested in how you'd achieve this as well.
Hi.
Yes in fact when I was on stock the gps worked as expected but I was on froyo.
Than I updated to a beta GB and then to Juwe.
I'd prefer not to put a froyo rom just to test if possible. I'll wait for someone to come with some idea
Thanks!
Some updates:
- It seems not to be kernel releated (tried with both semaphore and CF-Root, will try also TalonDEV)
- Not rom releated also (from Juwe JVR to Simplicity JVT, passing thru stock JVT).
Any ideas?
Is there someone whose GPS stays locked even if the screen is off?
Thanks.
Interested as well. Anyone?
Hmm, my gps would always lose lock if i turned off screen (froyo too).. thought that was normal behaviour
i thought that depends on the app. navigon has a setting which says to keep gps on or off when minimised.

Probably this is right. Should be app-related.
I used to have a lot of GPS problems, but I solved them connecting GPS for the first time with WiFi on google maps, after that, GPs worked great without wifi being necessary anymore.

I will try that.
It seems that also other phones are affected by this problem/feature, after the update to Gingerbread.
Little update: the navigation app does not let the screen to turn off to not to lose gps fix.

[Q] Screen lock?

I am on temasek's kang #49 with voodoo sound and gmaps sensor kernel (also from him). When I set up a pattern or pin for screen lock it works only once and after unlocking it once the normal lockscreen appears and it never asks for password or pattern. Is it just me? Is there any way I can fix this?
Thanks
Got the same problem, but "solved" it with installing an old software I already bought, alternative locker. Maybe an alternative?
No fix for that? Its a real big bug! :/

Have you reported this to temasek? Maybe he isn't aware of it and can find a solution (or knows someone who will)
I did but I think he forgot, anyways I'll remind him again!
Do you still have to problem with latest KANG? One solution... I know it's a lot of work. But install inte from a brand new start. Format data + cache.
Got some strange behaviour with my phone where the home button died and didn't do anything. Tested a lot of solutions but only managed it to work with a full system clean. Now running Temasek KANG 54 with Vadonkas kernel. Had working lockscreen but like Widget locker more.
Oh no it works now! Phone Locator Pro was causing the problem!

Auto Rotation is not working properly...Plss help me :-(

Hi guys
Auto rotation is not working properly on my galaxy s...some times it doesn't even work...I tested it on both ICS and Gingerbread...Really it is hurting me...plss help me to solve this problem...
Thanks in advanced
plsss guys help me...im waiting for your replyyy
If its any help, my auto rotation was pretty buggered as well. It would work on gingerbread but only if you help the phone more vertical than you really needed to. ICS wouldnt work at all.
Mine also wouldn't work properly in google sky maps and similar apps, if you panned left and right, it would also twist the view a bit, difficult to explain but see if sky maps works as expected. Also compass wouldnt work properlly, only worked with phone flat, soon as you tilt it would start to change direction when should be pointing same way.
I went back to various stock roms, different modems, loads of stuff, reflashing boot loaders, unrooting everything and couldnt fix it.
was a hardware fault, no other reason i could see why it wouldnt work, and just got phone replaced under warranty. all good now.
what ROM you use or you are in stock ROM? go to settings/about telephone and write what you see in there

there is no calibration in settings.....what to do now?
I have a similar problem.
Autorotation of apps works ok on Ginger (2.3.5, 2.3.6), but on any ICS that I have tested doesn't work.
ICS has no horizontal calibration, so do not know what else to do.
Any hint?
i have the same problem on I9000 4.1.2 cyanogen mod,any solution?
