[Q] Is using Clockwork ok when moving to 2708+ stuff? - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

In the 2708+ thread by ezterry it basicly says to flash AmonRa, radio, SPL, ROM, kernel. Now I wonder if AmonRa is actually needed here or if I can go with ClockWork instead?

To answer my own question: go for Clockwork

okay this is what ive done...i use the flash rec apk and then backup and applied the ra recovery img. now i can go to the recovery mode...can i apply any rom not knowing the spl?...also one last question.... if i need to unroot do i do this by appliying the dreamin.img by pressing the end and camera then apply and this should unroot it right????
oh yeh i came from a cupcake build...on my g1
To get back to stock you flash the DREAIMG.nbh in bootloader. You need the 1.33.2005 SPL to flash a hero rom and a few others, but they will state that in the OP. You can flash any other rom though.

there is a single flash version of 4.1.999 look for it in the dev section.

ooops Lost Root

I was running cy's 4.2.4, but I was having an issue with rotate.
I realized that the base Rom i was using was a sapphire rom (or at least that is what i was led to believe) I decided to go to cy's wiki and download the correct base image... signed-dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.zip
I flashed this image and then when I tried to go back to recovery *poof* no recovery. (I was using the RA recovery) I downloaded telnet and tried it, no telnet.
I was going to reflash the RC29, but I was running the "Danger" SPL.
sooooooooo. Will I brick if I go back and install RC29?
Well. for anyone in the future, I can tell you that reflashing back to RC29 will NOT brick you when coming from Danger SPL.
If you have Danger SPL you could just flash back AMON Recovery from Fastboot, no need to root again.
the recovery gets replaced on reboot due the HTC image. You have to edit some scripts which a lot of people find harder than rerooting

Clockworkmod and Aman Ra question??

Whats up XDA just a quick question: I have the aman ra 1.7.0.1 recovery image on my N1. I was interested in trying out rom manager also which uses clockwork mod, but my question is:
Can I have both on my N1 since they're both recovery programs? Or will there be a problem trying to keep both?
You can use only one.
Flash another and use another

cant flash danger spl

okay so i had to flash and downgrade back to RC29 from Froyo roms, i rooted, then upgraded my Radio, and also flashed Hard SPL. but when i try to flash Danger SPL it wont change, i check my boot loader and it still keeps saying hard spl is still installed.
note: im using amon ra 1.7.0 recovery
Solved: used Amon RA 1.5.2

Before Danger You must need to Flash your RADIO first and then reboot and try flashing Danger.

It is obviously smarter than you.
DO NOT FLASH DEATHSPL!!!! There is NO BENEFIT to it.
Use 1.33.2003. Be safe -- don't brick yourself.
If you want deathspl's partition mapping, use this instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717874

Then update your radio:
1.Boot in recovery
2.Full data wipe
3.Flash 2.22.23.02 radio, press "home" and "back" after, your phone will reboot
in recovery (can take 2 mins)!
4.Full data wipe
5.Flash 1.33.2005 hboot, press "home" and "back" after, your phone will reboot
in recovery (can take 30 sec)!
6.Full data wipe
7.Flash any Rom (like FroYo for Trout)
Here is a video for it! Do it like he did it but with my links!

If you dont want to do it with fastboot, you can flash it via recovery:
[Guide] Flashing 2.22.27.08 radio and 1.33.0013d hboot via recovery
But ONLY do it with the 2.22.23.02 radio and 1.33.2005 hboot!!!
The guide is 100% procent working if you do it exactly like i said and flash the Rom that you like!

There is already a very good installation guide from ezTerry. You should follow that, because it's proven to work with lowest risks. All other guides and tutorials *may* work, but risk of bricking your phone is much higher.
Only my 2 cents.
ok thanks you that was much more clear than ezterry's instructions
it worked, and now i am using my new rom without any issues
thanks.
