I bricked my tab. First I tried to install Modaco's kernel with Odin 1.7 and then it got stuck on galaxy tab screen. I could enter download mode, I tried to install rotohamers ROM and Odin said pass but I was still stuck on the same screen. So I entered download mode again and Odin got stuck for 30 minutes, I closed Odin and turned off the tab now I can't enter download mode or turn on the tab or do anything. When I plug it in to charge the screen lights up that's pretty much all that happens. Is there any hope? And if not can I get the tab replaced? Thanks in advance. Now I get a white screen when I plug it in.

Same here, any help would be very gentle ...
You should go to nearest samsung service station.that's what I did.

I guess, if cannot enter download mode there ist no chance to solve the problem without help of a samsung service station.
Or you must reassemble your device and flash it with a riff box.
google for "riff-box-jtag"
I guess I will need my receipt.. And I don't have it.. Do you think it's worth a try?
First try to charge the tab. Than put it into download mode by pressing power and volume down. Check odin if it found device. If yes you are saved. I am telling this because it has been mentioned few times here that tabs simply discharged during flashing and it can be unnoticed. Secondly during failed attempts tab screen can show anything but in fact it can be in download mode once power + vol down is pressed so just check if this is your case.

I tried it but the Tab just show a blank screen and Windows won't even find it..
Youve screwed your bootloader up.
Your only option is to JTAG it or send it away fro repair.
What is a JTAG ? From what i've seen (Google ) it's seems to be something that I buy?
Thank you all for your answers!
At this point mate, send it to samsung service centre for repair...
J-tag is NOT for the faint of heart or noobs...Not for most people come to that...
That's what I tought and I gave them a call, but they say they can't do anything without a receipt.
I'll give them a second call.
ok if you cant get samsung to accept your tab try letting ur tab discharged all the way to empty. Once its completely dead, let it be for a day, then plug it in and try to boot to download mode. I havent used this technique on the tab, but it has worked for other phones ive had by removing the battery for a bit and put it back. Let me know if it works. Thanks
PS
Dont know if you are in the states, but if you purchased from any of the carriers, they should be able to help you out within the first year or so. unbranded, you should be able to track down the reciept from place of purchase

Well - here is what I would do -
1. remove the battery and put it back in.
2. make sure that you have it plugged in - with it plugged in do you have any lights flashing?
3. My understanding from your post is that you have NO EVIDENCE of power on your phone whatsoever - meaning no lights - if so and what i have suggested to you does not work - then you will have to take it back to whom ever you purchased it from and hope the warranty works.
You did not indicate:
1. where you are located
2. who your carrier is
3. what you had on the phone before you flashed
4. what you tried to flash to
You also did not indicate if the phone was SPL'd before you flashed?
(Not that ANY of those things matter if you have no power on the phone as no recovery can occur if you really need a "resurrection"

No lights what so ever. It had SPL'd on it I flash a new rom and when it finish that was it. The carrier is Cingular in New Jersey. Also I bought it from a person, not from a store. I took the battery out over night and nothing, still no lights. I guess is dead. Thanks

That sound you hear is the fat lady singing I am afraid my friend.
I DOUBT it - but you COULD try a new battery or play around with touching the battery several times to the circuitry (I have seen this in some of the other threads that talk about battery issues and charging issues - hey what have you got to lose?)
Bill
Maybe use it to keep a door open or build a fancy mailbox that kids won't kit with a baseball bat.
Yeah the no lights is bad.
Be honest here. What did you try to flash? What ROM?

the person who can help has already responded: gsleon3. Explain your problem to him in detail and he can help you recover.
See people, take note: this is why its VERY important to read wiki/faq/stickies before doing anything to your precious and expensive devices.
I just got back from holiday, and whilst on holiday i was using the ear phones & music player on the phone. I made the mistake of sitting down, catching the ear phones plug & bending it whilst it was plugged in. This has damaged the USB port. It still charges, but the ear phone/connectivity pins have been broken within the phone.
Too make matters worse, i reset the phone soon after (soft reset) only to be greeted with the screen below. I have tried a hard reset, loading the bootloader (camera, power & reset buttons) and every other combination of buttons iv found on the internet. So far nothing has helped/changed it. The screen doesnt rotate with the keyboard, and the off button doesnt work. (turns phone on, but not off).
I am tempted to send the phone off to HTC, as it is under warrenty but i dont know whether the fact it has a custom ROM on will effect it at all. iv had minor problems with the screen i would ask them to look at aswel.
Would a broken USB be fixable under warrenty? Then would a custom ROM (even if it doesnt boot) cause a fuss? Then finally, is there anyway to flash a new ROM to the phone without using the USB card?
many thanks guys, any advice is appreciated

iv read up on flashing a new rom via my sd card, but i am really struggling to find a the .nbh file (which i then rename). I dont spose anyone can link me to a standard .nbh file could they? Hopefully this will enable me to get it next to standard prior to sending it off to HTC.
thanks guys
if its an .exe rom update, use winrar to extract it and there you'll find the .nbh
I had the same problem, broken usb on at&t tilt, flashed a shipped rom and got a new device via a warranty exchange. I couldn't get the SPL back to original but the guys at the device support center didn't notice.
thank you for the reply mate, was just what i needed!
Unfortunatly it didnt work, and even having put the file on my SDcard and resetting the phone it still boots to the tri colour screen. Got my hopes up, as the phone did load the file and run through it...only for me to reset it and it go back to the tri colour screen.
Will the HTC device centre likely accept it all the same?
cheers guys
Tried it again, this time resetting it, loading up from the SDcard then taking the card out before resetting. Now im getting:
'' Upgrade ROM code error Please try again ''
RUUNBH has also appeared in the top right hand corner, with the same tri coloured screen.
As this is not covered by warrenty (spoke to HTC today) im a bit worried about what i can do. Does anyone have any ideas i could try?
thanks
I think I've Bricked to completion now!
I have been using Overcome ROM and had issues with battery performance and other items. So I decided just to go to stock GB. Well I did and I thought to myself, why not get really good battery use and go back to Froyo. So I downloaded from samfirmware.com the JM2 ROM. Well, I did just that, using Odin 1.7 and it showed "PASS" in green. Normal pit file and reset partition checked.
Will not turn on at all and won't even go into "Download".
Besides the obvious "BRICK OF THE YEAR AWARD" replies, does anyone have any help they can lend?
I'm not the one with the answers, but I casually saw these two posts hours ago:
How to unbrick tabs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133590
This unlocks bootloaders so your SamFirmware.com rom won't brick you:

Thanks for the help, with the link you provided. I called the guy that I got my simple mobile phones from(and my tablet sim from, too) and he said he could fix it. So I left work immediately. Well after about 10 minutes, he said, "Here you go, the LCD screen is fried"
So I'm really bummed, but I'm also hopeful cause I can get a new LCD installed from ubreakifix.com. They are the same people that I got the new 3.5mm jack and repaired the Tablet, just about 30 days ago. So even though I'm bummed, cause I just got it fixed, I'm very hopeful that I can get it fixed, I just have to come up with some money for the part.
Can you try plugging it in the Computer and wait for while and see if anything shows up?
When i soft bricked my tab after a failed odin attempt it wouldn't turn on or nothing. I left it plugged into the computer, started to youtube a bit and after sometime pasted a phone and pc screen popped up.
Try it because if the lcd screen fried i would think the LED buttons would atleast light up if it was on.

Looks like you're not very lucky with your tab.
Then again you're lucky you have this kind of service (ubreakifix) in the States, coz we're stuck with the overly expensive regular services from companies like Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Motorola and so on, and they not only fix nothing but also charge you for that. I wish there were alternative services like this here too.
Hey thanks you all! I'll attempt plugging the unit into the laptop tonight and pray something happens.
I've actually connected the unit to Odin and Odin recognizes the unit, by show the COM:0, but I'll try the laptop at home. This all failed at the office PC.
Yah try that first because if loading a new rom doesn't do anything then yah something else is wrong.
So atleast then you know its hardware not software. If odin recognized the phone then there is hope. There are times the tabs go into what's we call a coma state and it usually clears up by loading a new rom. So atleast odin sees it.
It took like 20min for my tab to turn on with that phone to pc screen. If nothing comes on but odin sees it...load the overcome gbsafe_v5 rom and if you get green light then wait for it to reboot

Yesterday while I was surfing the web, didnt do anything abnormal, my HTC Vivid shut down. after trying to turn it on I was only able to get the screen on with nothing on it, after severel times i tried to pull the battery out I didn't achieve anything.
I tried to get into hboot without any success, I also tried doing it "blind" and tried to restore to defult setting.
After some reading I tought it might be a soft brick, I wasn't able to do anything thorugh adb, becuase it doesn't recognize my phone.
Any help please?
Is your battery not charging or not holding a charge?
sent from my HTC Vivid
Yeah, make sure the battery is actually still working first. Plug it in with a wall charger, pull the battery, put it back in, and if you don't get the Orange light, you might have bigger problems (perm-brick, busted USB port, etc).
Battery works fine
Hi guys thank you for the responses.
The battery works great, as usual.
BTW, I forgot to mention that the device was unrooted and with stock tomorrow.
Nothing I think could cause a perm -brick.
Any suggestions?

When did you un root it?
Root
I meant that it was never rooted.
Sorry, my mistake..
What happens when you take the battery out, then put it back in and press the volume down button and power button at the same time?

Hello, I have just got my replacement phone from Verizon's insurance company. so i been holding off a couple of days to retrieve my lost photos since my screen in severely damaged. If i try connecting it to my pc it doesnt show any files, yet the new phone does since im able to enable the MTP connection. I tried using a keyboard plugged in via the OTG Adapter, granted it works but the screen wont turn on, only when the phone turns on I can see the top half of the screen; then a few seconds will go by and its black. Doing anything will keep it locked even if i try typing it anyway. Please help me figure a way out to get my photos back so i can send the claimed Note 9 in the mail this evening. Thanks!

Do you have a USB-C - HDMI Cable or Adapter ?? That's the only way i can think of you getting access to your Note 9!

this is a great idea. Get access to the phones GUI, offload the pics to google drive or whatever else you have access to, profit. cant forget to profit...
