WiFi doesn't reacquire from sleep. (stock/rooted) - LG Optimus 2x

Dunno if this is a common issue as I couldn't find any other mention of it.
Basically, if my O2X has been asleep for a while while I'm at home and I take it out of sleep, it doesn't automatically reconnect to my home network, even though it's set to "never sleep". I have to either disable and re-enable WiFi or leave network notifications on so I can establish the connection from the available networks list.
Has anyone else got this issue or know of a resolution for it?
At least while on MoDaCo Fr12 it seemed to reconnect more quickly but I'm getting 48 hours out of the battery back on stock so would rather start there.
Cheers

Same here. I'm rooted, got CWM but still at stock. It is either being rooted or the freezing of a certain app.

Mine is rooted and from the moment i push the lock button it already is connecting after 2 seconds. Problem could me an app.
What apps did you install that require a wifi connection ?

None really. Auto-sync is usually off and everything else is "on-demand".
Might try a full wipe and just re-install a few apps at a time with titanium.
Hmmmmm.

Hi,
Same prob here. Sometimes it reacts, sometimes it dont. And if it's stuck I have to reboot.

i have same settings, maybe a hardware fault ?
But try to wipe first and see what happens

try app, blade wifi fix from market you must be rooted

happens to my x10 as well sometimes. blade wifi fix does help a bit, although you can always activate/deactivate wifi manually but yes it is annoying.
try changing wifi sleep policy to never, it won't disconnect but you'll notice some battery drain.

This is a known issue with some access points. The G2X forum also has a thread about this.

wifi issues with ics

Hey, my wifi always goes out and needs to be restarted while using ICS. at first it would happen like three times a day. now its a couple itmes an hour. it is very very very annoying. does anyone know a fix for this???
I don't have this problem, but do you have a wifi-sleep timer set up? Maybe an app is doing something?
No i dont. This issue was posted before in the threads but never had a solution. I always wipe EVERYTHING so i dont know why this happens with me.
Sent from my XT862 using Tapatalk
It's not just you. I get MANY wifi drops as well. I don't use it often, but when I do, I get a drop every 15 minutes or so. It happens very randomly: as in not when I'm loading a page, just randomly I'll see the logo go white then disappear.
My solution? A frustrated sigh and a switch of wifi on and off.

when using fullscreen apps and just even regular browsing its a b*tch. I tried the wifi fixer app but it didnt help. Im clueless
This has been an issue for me since the first ics rom. None since have fixed it or addressed it to my knowledge.

I did no have this problem on the AOKP 4/12 build, but do have it now on the 4/30 build. No idea why.
The audio issue is also ALOT worse for me. most of my phone calls do the silence thing where there is no audio. Today it caused me to run into alot of trouble. i hope these issues get fixed soon. I think it was the bluetooth updates in the changelog that caused the problems to occur more. As they are supposed to be bluetooth related. Unforunately i might have to go back to gingerbread
I am able to use 1x data & WIFI on ICS Rom only. Neither WiFi or Data works with Stock ROM.
Before It used to work in Stock ROM, but now it does not. So I am sticking to CM9
I have this issue too but I use juice defender. I only really use it for 2 functions
1. Enable WiFi when I'm home (constantly on) and disable when I'm away
2. Turn off data at night from 1am to 6am
when i flashed ICS the effectiveness is shady. A lot of times when i turn on the screen wifi is disabled but will reenable after a few seconds during the day. also at night sometimes it won't disable until later than 1am and will randomly enable and disable at like 4 am or something. sucks because i'll randomly get a bunch of notifications for emails twitter etc. and it will wake me up.

[Mini 2 GT-S6500] Reboots caused by wifi

No-one appears to have had this issue on this phone yet, and not for this exact reason, which makes me think it's only a small error somewhere. (I hope)
Ever since I got it about a month ago, even before I rooted it or did anything to it, it would randomly reboot with no particular pattern. I've since discovered it's specifically caused by the wifi being left on, and the phone left locked for more than about 15 minutes, regardless of whether any apps are open at all. All in all it only happens when wifi is on, and it's not charging or being used. When being used it never happens, and when it's plugged into USB or the wall charger it never happens, and never when just network data is on, no wifi. And I can leave it with both wifi and data off and it will happily standby for it's whole battery life with no issues.
What is the wifi doing when I leave it locked? does anyone know specifically why it causes this?
Anyone? I use wifi way way more than my data, i want to be able to put it down for 10 minutes!

Try updating the firmware. This might help...
Sent via XDA Premium
There may be a corrupted apk somewhere that would be active only when Wi-Fi is on (note that there are some services that are still running in the background even if you think they are none , they are not that easy to find and will most likely restart if you kill them , but it's ok because they need to run) . Reflashing the stock firmware with Odin should do the trick.
Also I presume you haven't overclocked it . If you did , lower down the max frequency a little .
FInally , are there any heating issuses when this happens ?
i've had the same issue with the mini 1. it was gone after i have flashed the stock firmware on it.
my mini 2 has no reboot problems (yet).
Try setting wifi sleep policy to "never" of you have at option in settings>wifi>advanced.
Alternatively, it could be called keep wifi on during sleep, turn it to "always"

nexus 7 not killing wifi during sleep after updating to 4.2.1

I have selected to never keep WiFi on during sleep yet now the tablet continues to run the WiFi as you can see in the pictures. This has forced me to use airplane mode when I am on the go because otherwise the tablet just keeps WiFi on and burns the battery extremely quick. This has been a problem since I updated to 4.2.1. I am not rooted completely stock. A solution would be great because this sucks right now. I have tried clearing the cache in recovery but that didn't solve the problem.
I'm running the latest Paranoidandroid ROM and thought that was the problem. I can't yet post to that developer forum so I was just waiting for the next beta.
I guess it's a problem with 4.2.1 then.

If you don't find a solution you may want to try DataEasyPro from the market. It kills both 3g and wifi as soon as the screen is off and then runs a user defined schedule to turn on 3g or wifi every now and the for a few seconds to keep you upto date with your social world. Works great. There is even a widget so you can turn off the schedule when you are downloading or updating from the play store.

I think it is a 4.2.1 problem. Its hard to say how wide spread it is though because I have only seen a handful of posts about this issue though. To me, this issue is unacceptable. I should not have to enable/disable airplane mode to conserve battery. Especially when the previous version of android prior to the 4.2.1 update handled WiFi sleep settings without a problem. Hopefully a fix will be here soon. My tablet used to have superb battery life without me constantly monitoring it. Now I feel like I have to keep double checking that I remember to use airplane mode so that I don't go to use the tablet and find a nearly depleted battery.

I recommend automate it, I have a couple of rules set to turn WiFi of with the screen (with a 5min delay), then turn Wi-Fi back on when the screen turns on. There's plenty of other settings and rules to play with as well.

In had the same issue. I found Google maps to be the culprit.
It defaulted back to location reporting.
Check Google now sync, maps and currents.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
It's not google maps itself, it's the android location service. It's always collecting data even if your phone or tabscreen isn't on. This is pretty anoying since google only let you choose between agreeing to run the service in the background or not using it at all. Stupid! How about collecting data only when the device is in use?
Same here. There is a bug report on Google about it.

I highly recommend using an app called Better Battery Stats. You can find the free version here on XDA. It'll tell you if there is an app causing a wakelock. I used it to troubleshoot my Rezound and I'm getting a solid 4-5 hours of screen on time with the extended battery on that because it helped me lock down the apps that were killing my battery.

Hmmm. Just checked PA beta 7 and it's doing it too. Wifi on always.
A custom kernel would probably fix that.

I was having the wifi on issue as well. Just bought my N7, stock 4.2.1 and not rooted. I followed the tip in point four of this post, which details a simple set up using Tasker, where the unit turns the wifi on and off after the screen turns on or off respectively. The reason for the 10 second delay as is detailed in the link, is to allow for the turning on of your N7 to check the time or other reasons, and then quickly turn it off without the wifi on task being activated.
the screenshot below shows my wifi being stuck on while in sleep mode, even with it set to be never on during sleep in the settings, and the change in behavior once the 2 Tasker profiles we set up.
Cheers
Those of you having issues, have you tried the "only when plugged in" setting? Not sure if it would really matter but that's what I use and mine turns on and off just fine.

Testing that now. Turned off Tasker, and set wifi to the "only when plugged in" setting. It's only been about 30 minutes, but so far it looks like it's behaving the same as before, as in keeping wifi on while in sleep. I'll Let it sleep for a few hours and see what the chart shows.
Cheers
EDIT: So I let my N7 sit for about an hour after switching the above mentioned settings, and you can see in the screenshot below that the wifi is staying on while the unit is not awake. I've set my Tasker profiles to control the wifi once again.
I know it may be fixed by a factory reset, but frankly I'm more than happy with the way Tasker handles the issue.
Cheers
so 6 months later, I am still getting this problem. However it seems only to be with the last update. The tasker method seems to be working well though.

[Q] Weird Wifi behaviour, can't identify why

Hi,
I've been having some really weird Wifi behaviour since 4.2.1.
I'm using stock Rom, rooted, and I have Wifi sleep policy set to "only when charging", so it should go to sleep when idle.
I think something is waking it up, not sure what. And it's struggling to go back to sleep (or at least this is what it looks like).
Attached is the really weird graph of the battery stats, you can see an example of how Wifi is switching on/off like crazy. Also attached BBS logs from idle. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Sounds like maybe a rogue app doing something to wake, maybe a sync issue.Try shutting off auto sync and see if it helps.
Sent from my SGH-I927 using xda app-developers app
So far no luck, but this was my assumption too. Any way to track down the rogue app?
Id maybe start with obvious ones like facebook and apps that have wifi permissions.I cant really say as I dont know what you using. Also if you are using an email client that accesses wifi to sync.
Sent from my SGH-I927 using xda app-developers app
I've found Wifi doesn't turn off for 5-15 minutes and sometimes NEVER since ICS. I personally use Tasker to turn off wifi at screen off, but Green Power or Setting Profiles Lite are two other options to do this, and actually do it.
IMO, if your device is going into deep sleep, it should be fine for battery and otherwise.
As far as the Wi-Fi behaving that way, look at Google maps, latitude and location reporting. They're the problems for me and I'm working on them as well.
Try diagnostic apps which tell you which app is using your Wi-Fi and check it out..

Stock ICS Bugs

Does anyone else think this update was half baked?
I'm having a lot of issues with the new update. Bluetooth keeps skipping like a scratched cd, Wifi won't connect just keeps requesting ip from router then I have to shut off wifi and turn it on manual to connect, I really need to fix these problem any suggestions.
Can I roll back to 2.3 stock some how?
Are there any other good forums for this phone?
I love it. No problems with Wi-Fi. As a matter of fact, to get Wi-Fi to work in gb,I had to reboot the phone everyday. Also no ghost calls. Being able to turn off data and Wi-Fi manually gives me 2 days of battery life.
