Hey all,
With the new B&N update out today, should I even turn on my NC???
I am runninc cm7 nightly 41 on emmc and I am afraid that I am in for a nasty surprise if I turn my NC on!
What sould I do? Return to stock?
Any help would be Very much Appreciated!
Nothing to worry about while running CM7.
You are at 0.00% risk. The update can ONLY identify you if you are on stock firmware. B&N cannot get your nook if you are on anything else. Do not worry, and use it.
On that note - you SHOULD update to the 7.0.2 CM that was released today, since it inculeds a ton of fixes..

Thank You So Much for clearing this up for me, I can Breath again!!!
I was planning on doing the update to 7.0.2-I just needed to know if I still could after the B&N update!
What is the best OC kernel to use with the 7.0.2?
Again, THANKS!!!!

Something tells me that you are going to boot up your primary, download and install the update, then not be able to boot to CM7 again. At that point, you might have to wipe your emmc back to stock just so you can repartition it and reinstall the multi-boot header, and then reinstall CM7.

Baby Jesus is smoking crack.
CM7 is not going to look for a B&N update, it is completely separate. Just update to 7.0.2 just like you'd update any other CM7 regardless of B&N.
That said, you don't have to update, but's probably a good idea.

I just installed update 1.1, then tried to use autonooter, I didn't actually get anywhere using autonooter(The nook wouldn't even turn on?), so I took the SD card out, now I'm stuck at the screen where it shows the nook N, and "contains reader mobile technology by Adobe Systems Inc." at the bottom..
Any help?:/
8 times reboot? CWR for restoring the stock rom? CWR for flashing froyo? There are many options. I did all of them before for fun.

Here's a couple options for ya'.
Nook Color Restore to stock
Flash back to clean stock ROM
On the plus side, it's almost impossible to brick a nook color, so one of these should work for ya'. Best of luck to you, mate.

Okay, I got it to boot up again with the 8times reset, and did the power+n.
But for some reason, now it won't let me re-register it? I get an error, and it tells me to reboot.
Anyway, can anyone tell me how to update to 1.01? The B&N site only has a download for update 1.1... I think that's where I went wrong.
Thanks a lot, guys

Go ahead and boot it up, then go in to Settings -> Device Info -> Erase & Deregister Device. Let it do it's thing, and after the reboot, you should be at 1.0.0. Go and head and register your device now. =)
After you're all re-registered, head over to here, download the update, then just skip down to "Installing the update" since you'll already be on stock.
Enjoy! =)
~Q
Thank you very much, trying it right now!
I love how helpful the community is. I really want to use autonooter to get android on my nook. I just hate that there wasn't really clear instructions written for people who are noobs at this.
I have another question, if I'm just going to use it as a tablet, do I need to register it with B&N before I use autonooter? I don't plan on using it to actually buy any B&N books, and I'm having trouble regestering it.
Glad to help, bud. =)
If you plan on doing some really advanced stuff like moving Nookie Froyo to take the place of the stock ROM on the eMMC, you really don't need to register. However, if you plan on just using ROMs off the sdcard and keeping the stock ROM on the nook itself (like I do), you probably still want to go ahead and re-register just in case. But, if you just can't get the little fekker to register, don't worry about it. It won't hurt anything.
I suggest you to try out froyo on SD card first see if you like it. When you have time, do read about the cwr in the development forum. It is very easy to flash different rom to NC by using cwr.

Ok so I have totally messed my brand new device, this is second day I have had it. I got it yesterday and first thing I did was install DeeperBlues HC v4 on my eMMC. It was easy. I had to use Autonooter first. I was on 1.0.1. Well after playing with it all night. I started to not like the functioning of apps on the platform. They were great but was in my opinion, no greater than when it was just rooted. So I decided to bring it back to stock. I accidently placed wrong sd card in it, the one with Autonooter on it. Now when it boots up it says Loading.... then I get the word ANDROID in lower left had side of screen in landscape. I am a noob when it comes to this. Now I flash and mess with my phones rom and themes and kernels all the time kind of a junkie, but this is no walk in the park.
Please can someone help me.

I think you rooted your Nook which could be a fine thing. If that's not what you want, getting it back to stock is very easy.
Here's a link: http://nookdevs.com/Flash_back_to_clean_stock_ROM
The tricky part is to get the timing right so that you get the 8 failed boots (that took me a while). If it looks like it's about to boot up up, hold down the power button till it goes off (at least I think that's what I did). If you have adb installed (or install it) you can get around that.

Is this going to help me. My original firmware was 1.0.1.
Just grab the CWR 1.1 Recovery image from the development forum. Burn that onto an SD Card and reboot. Wipe data boot system cache and flash. done.
Find rootpack in dev section, write that to sd card, add the flashable restore to stock zip from samuelhalffs restore to stock thread in the dev section to your sdcard, boot to sdcard with the rootpack on it, flash the restore to stock zip after formatting system and data. Wala, fixed! All info can be found in my dummies guide to my nook won't boot a few threads down.
Thank you Thank you Thank you. This worked. I now have my Nook back. Thanks.

OUCH!!! The sleep thing and huge battery drain prevented me from shifting from old-but-sturdy 2.1 stock, which I charged last time...let me think...31 March.
If I had CM7 I would have charged it already 5 times.
Cm7 power problems / sleep death
This may be a dumb question but if Nookie Froyo doesn't have either of the power or sleep problems that CM7 does, would it be possible to track down and fix these bugs by comparing their source codes?

I believe they've found the problem and have fixed it in the kernel, but since it was so close to the release date, they've decided to release CM7 first with the existing kernel first, and then bug test the new one with the fix.
So we can look forward to having it fixed in the next few nightlies, hopefully.

Flash has been working flawlessly since mid-March in CM7. The only major issues to be worked on still with CM7 are improved Bluetooth range, eliminating the Sleep of Death (although it uses only ~1%/hour for me now while in sleep), and as with every device continued performance tweaks. There are plenty of smaller things to be fixed as well including screen shot support (which was fixed by Fattire and just needs verified/added to source), integrated button remapping (in works by Mad-Murdock), and anything else people can think to work on.

Just got it installed..
So far so good. I took the plunge last night to get it installed. Well, first try after formatting system, data, and cache went ok. Then rebooted and it got stuck on "Android" text at the bottom. Simply restarted holding the "power + n", then it successfully booted into CWR. Flashed and viola. Looks good. Love the included Cyanogen wallpapers. =)
So far, no issues, but then again, I haven't played with it much. My Bluetooth option is listed and when I try to turn it on, it tries for a bit, then does nothing. Any ideas?
Oh yeah... I used the OC kernel and it seems to be fine. =P

BLuetooth is a known issue. You need to either hard reboot, which is holding the physical power till it shuts off, or choose "Fix permissions" in Rom Manager then reboot, or a combination of both.

Also a seperate question. The link i have for the CWR image for my sd card is bad. Not for a bootable sd. I want to nstall cm7 from scratch on the EMMC but i first need to image a CWR sd card then put cm7 stable on it. Do you have that image link?
Thanks!!!
hey guys i have somewhat of a dumb question. I have my nok running hneycomb using that dual booth method. If i wanred to flash cm7 on it, should i completely undo the dual boot? Or go ahead and boot into recovery and try installing it?
You have to first undo the dual boot, because the dual boot created a second partition (hd) on your nook color. If you don't undo the dual boot, you'll just lose that space as cm7 will overwrite the file that allows you to boot into honeycomb.
none of the widgets I downloaded are showing up on the widget list with this rom
ran into an issue flashing fix located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23286933&postcount=61 that made my cm 7 go into a loop of rebooting. Help - is there a fix that I can apply?
The fix you're referring to dates back to March, things have come on a long way since then . Why don't you make a backup of your current rom and try the latest nightly you will probably be pleasantly surprised.
I'm surprised anyone is still using CM7. I second the suggestion of using the latest CM9 Nightly.

I'm not sure if there are certain steps you have to follow from going from CM7 to CM9 since when I got my TP, I went straight to CM9. But I think you can just download the latest ICS google apps file (gapps) and the latest nightly and then in clockwork recovery, do a data wipe/factory reset, wipe cahce and wipe dalvik cache. Then flash the nightly then the gapps. You should be fine.

I havent heard anything about the touch screen not working well. It works fine for me. And yes, you will lose your apps since you need to do a factory reset. But use Titanium backup to backup your apps. Then when you get on cm9, restore them. Just dont backup and restore system data. Apps and app data ONLY.
Ok after combing through this site there is alot I mean alot of updates after installing cm9. Is there a latest and greatest install walk through out any where? Also how or where do you get the nightly updates or is there an app that grabs them?
Thanks everyone, since I can't boot I might as well go to cm9.

stayed up and took a crack at it. followed instructions to a T except did the ACMEUninstaller first. Then rebooted and then did the ACMEInstaller. But I still get the loop, it goes into cyanogen Loading... then shutsdown and reboots to the menu. Am I supposed to delete anything after the ACMEUninstaller before I run the ACMEInstaller?
Was there a Base CM 9 that I am supposed to have installed before I install any of the nightly builds....?
Also if I run the Nightly do I have to perform any tasks first or just go and run zip file from SD?
Thanks
UPDATE - copied update- nightly from notes above and ran install from zip from SD and got it going. Nice, really like the new look. I still need to know how to safely backup apps and data for future nightly updates (step by step please) because I have a few days of work ahead of me to get this back to my configuration.
PS - Has anyone tried True Image or Ghost to create a backup image of the SD and if so does it work when it's restored?
Thanks again!!!!!

No base, you can start directly from the latest nightly which is 0909
"Step by step please", if you need to make that statement you honestly need to do quite a bit more reading, and I say that in all kindness to keep you from having trouble with your device
There are a MULTITUDE of apps, both free and paid to back up all your apps and info
As far as backing up the contents of the internal SD, I tried everything out there and then came back to tried and true command line, look up a command line operation called robocopy... what you do is boot into recovery and mount the USB storage. Then there are several commands you can issue to copy files from your inner SD to your computer but the one I use is /mir, which replicates the contents EXACTLY, even hidden files, but like I said look up the wiki page on robocopy for more details
Have fun with the CM9 and get ready for CM10 hopefully not too far in the future, and do plenty of relaxed reading
One bug I am having. The nightly I was told was the update-cm-9-20120815-NIGHTLY-tenderloin.zip works fine but when I run the newest update-cm-9-20120909-NIGHTLY-tenderloin.zip it stops and states bad file. Then it wont boot into CM9. So i run the update-cm-9-20120815-NIGHTLY-tenderloin.zip once again from install from zip and it boots. I can extract the update-cm-9-20120909-NIGHTLY-tenderloin.zip and see all the files while its on the TP SD card. So is there a step I am missing when installing from zip to the latest and greatest Nightly?
Thanks

Hi all
I am desperately trying to find a way to flash a 4.1.2 ROM to my Nook HD+ as there is a certain stremaing video engine (Acesteam) that does not work with 4.2 and higher.
I've tried to flash CM10 which I believe is based on 4.1.2 without success - I get into a boot loop and then Nook just flashes stock recovery.
My Nook has had latest B&N stock and also CM10.1 ROMs flashes previously - I can flash latest stable 10.1 and B&N stock without problem, so wondering if there is any reason why it would be impossible to roll back to Android 4.1.2?
Thank you so much for your time, I really do appreciate the sterling efforts of the experts on here.
Cheers
Mike

Having looked at these, it is the latest version that I tried to install (cm-10-20130511-UNOFFICIAL-ovation-sdcard.zip)- I got it from this thread (just to prove I do search before posting!!)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2032364
I have an issue with this method as I am a Windows user without adb, so can't access the CM10SDCARD partition created by the boot image to copy the relevant zip files to.
I've tried using a later CWM and also writing the image from the "sdcard-cwm-early4.img.gz" file in the thread to an SD card and copying the bootfiles to a larger partition (then including the relevant CM10 zip) but both methods result in a boot loop then stock recovery.
Perhaps somebody knows what might be going wrong? Would dearly love to be able to do this.
Cheers all
Mike
