I am a Bell i9000m user -- I'm using Froyo right now (JL2 modem) which uses the 850 hz band
I desperately want to go to a Gingerbread ROM.
I understand before flashing roms via CWM I need to change the bootloaders to the new Gingerbread 2.3 models
Can anyone point me to directions as to do this (I think it would have to be done via ODIN I'm assuming?)
Also, do I use JV1 or JVK ? what's the difference ?
Cheers
Use the darkys guide it helps alot... explains everything.... and. If you follow that you wont brick your phone

Darky's 10.3 or what not ?
V10 RC5.3 -- this is the one i'm looking to get . The question is do I have to load the bootloaders first ?
any chance you can point me in the right direction ?
just follow this link exactly...
http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/guide-installing-rc5-now-much-easier.2382/
the Ficeto_JVB will take care of your bootloaders
If you cant figure out how to do this with this guide then I recommend you wait until Bell has a 2.3 update through KIES
if you don' want to use Darky's use this and then install a ROM of your choice such as StockRom, Simply Honey or cook one over at Doc's kitchen. Of course, the thread I linked you to was also prepped by a chef who has his own ROM, so lots of options, but very straight forward.

well yes i acctually own a n1 and am obssessed with roms. right now im still trying to get myself familiarized with the sgs. which is kinda confusing coz of all the numbers.
iam on darky's 9.2. its alright but looking for a stock one right now so that i can customized it myself to my liking.
heres specifically what i wanna do right now:
- flash a stock 2.2.1 rom deodexed
- apply kernel (voodoo or speedmonk)
- lagfix (not sure if it depends what kernel
- all from cwm no odin. (bad experience) lol
and from there on thats where ill start from. right now thats all i wanna do.
thank you for your reply sir.
Okay on a pc here is the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=935826
I have done lots of customisation with this rom and use it on a daily basis hope it helps you.
Ok so im keen on flashing this Darky's ROM because of its proposed battery life and speed compared to stock firmwares. I was wondering if people could give me links or advice as to what else I would need to flash at the same time so that I have optimum coverage for my provider (Optus- Australia). I'm on a stock Optus 2.1 eclair ROM.
Thanks!
Please, do some research instead of just asking questions. We're trying to prevent spamming of the same questions over and over. Look in the developers page, there's plenty of information there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=665
I had done some research and had not found any solution specific to my carrier (Optus) apart from installing a Optus Modem. Could you tell me how I would install a Optus Modem?
because of its proposed battery life and speed compared to stock firmwares.
??????????????????????????????????????????
You would need to ask the developer of that rom what you need or read post in the OZ post .
Thats as well as reading Darky FAQs etc.
Better still i can point you to Opus modem in rom kitchin .
Build your own rom .

you dont need to flash an optus modem, however,it is highly recommended that you upgrade to 2.2 through kies or otherwise. other than that, you will need to be rooted with clock work mod. after that , just drag and drop the rom zip in to your phone, download the configuration app from the market and flash from there.
Whenever I flash a new darky version I normally flash his odin ressirection edition then use cwm to flash latest version hope that helps

Welcome to Darky's ROM!
Hello,
Recently I updated to doc's mod v11.1, but I want to revert my phone back to stock (just to learn). I want it to be exactly the same as when I received it. I bought my phone on december 2010 so I guess I'll need the Froyo 2.2.1 firmware. Some information:
It needs the European firmware including dutch language.
I need to revert CWM recovery again to stock recovery 2e/3e.
Anyone got some information on this and can give me the required information, because I am having trouble finding it. Like where to find the firmware (I read about samfirmware, but I can't find the appropiate firmware ;/) Thanks in advance!
Tbh information without the files is welcome too. All information is welcome since it can broaden my search. Thanks again

I've got stock kernel in my backups pile... can upload and then you can use it with GS kernel flasher. Can do it preferably by Dropbox.
As for un-rooting (if you want to lol) check out OneClickRoot or something like that by Shortfuse
Hi
Hey bro i read ur thread,, here i have a link to a video from youtube it says step by step how to do it,, ive done it also a few times. you have to make an account to the link that the video points.

from the account of > androidgalaxys
hope i helped you
Alright thanks a lot! I'll take a look at the video when I come home.
At ravelair does the stock rom contains Dutch settings etc... or not?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
If you just install the stock rom with a wipe u can then choose dutch by language at the beginning. Im also from Dutch so ive done it also
Galaxy S
Alright thanks but can you tell me what version I need from samfirmware?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
It depends on which one you want , if you want to go to Froyo then u can choose just the modem u were at, otherwise u can just do the latest European Gingerbread

I have no clue which modem I was on... This is more of a test if my phone ever breaks down I can flash it back to custom and send it in for warranty so... wouldn't really matter ^^ If I flash Froyo or Gingerbread right now I guess... the method is the same just a different file. Anyways what modem do you suggest?
aha okee,, well I use now the latest Gingerbread, it's very fast and stable... and it's officially released in the Netherlands, so you can flash that one
Alright thanks can you provide me with a link since I don't want to flash the wrong image :x. Thanks for all your help!
Dutch: Bedankt man

Noprobs bro, if you've an account on samfirmware, just log in and choose samsung galaxy s i9000, there you can choose the European version from the beginning till rom 2.3.3 latest
Dutch Geen Dank ahah
Alright thanks. But the guide says I need 3 files... a CSC, PHONE and PDA. I can only find 1 file.. do I need to flash that one without the repartition checked?
hmm, you can flash back to 2.2.1 or JVB that has three files with 512 pit file and repartition, and then after that 2.3.3 jvh without re partition..

I already downloaded a 2.2.1 version and it contains 1 file.. not three... so that's kinda weird... It's 2.2.1 JPY and then I'll flash to doc's rom (which is JPY based) again....
I downloaded this one:
I9000XXJPY ## from this link:http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-i9000.htm
Do I need that one or another one? Thanks!
I just found this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=790686 is this also a legit way to do it ? Thx (by only doing the first section ofcourse)
You can download this one >>http://hotfile.com/dl/114645023/5ea002a/PDA_I9000XWJVB_-_PHONE_I9000XXJVK_-_CSC_I9000XEEJV3.rar.html
it has three files, flash it with 512 pit file plus repartition.
Alright thanks a lot! This just leaves one question will this also turn my ClockWorkMod in to recovery 2e? Or do I still need to do it manually?
Just flash katest K13c speedmod kernel over the JVH modem the latest gingerbread then you have it also rooted and it works fine

Hello,
Since we are in australia and using P1000T, that is the firmware. Your firmware is JJ3.
Now, from here you can:
Stay stock (leave it at that)
Get custom Rom (overcome, etc)
If you want custom rom, look in the galaxy tab android development and follow the instructions to the letter to avoid bricking your tab.
It is normally advisable to flash your rom to roto's rom first before you get a custom rom. Roto's rom: roto jmi or roto jme, just search the development section.
I flashed 2 P1000t's straight to gingerbread with no problems... The bootloader doesn't need to be patched. Follow the instructions in the overcome thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=596770&d=1305467639 or these instructions & Links on this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13781955
Just remember, You don't need to flash the modem.bin part, just untick phone in ODIN. This allows you to keep the original Telstra radio...
Cheers, and happy flashing...
Ok bloke so two questions if you can please help. What is the best way to backup the existing stock to restore back to in case i screw it. Also when you say you went straight to gingerbread, which gingerbread rom did you use that was successful.
Did you use/have you heard of the Euro Italian one that is floating around the traps?
OK, here's stock Telstra firmware and radio - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=971870
Read about this on Sarsippius thread... Big thankyou, Sarsippius, for this...
You MUST have AT LEAST 50% battery or you may end up with a brick. The tab doesn't charge during the flashing process so if you have low battery it will be sucked dryt pretty quick. Flashing seems to use a bit of power...
Next, I flashed this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1073854 , thankyou Chainfire...
You need to follow the steps EXACTLY (if you want pictures go to the overcome thread and get his flashing manual, though there a re a few files named different and he doesn't need to flash the dbdata.tar file after the 1st flash...I also flashed the CF-Root V3.2 afterwards using ODIN....
Flashed 3 times using ODIN. Now have stock gingerbread and CWM on tab...
You can use the modem.bin file from the stock rom to keep the Telstra modem...
Takes about 10 - 15 minutes , go slow, read each step and DON'T skip ahead or you will come a cropper...
Remember, you can ALWAYS flash back to stock through ODIN as long as it recognises your tab....
I then flashed the Overcome rom V2.0.0 RC1 using CWM...
Happy Flashing....
ok..
i just manage to root GT-P1000T with chainfire thingy..(can't remember the name)
i fire up root explorer..and also installed bootloader patch - as per suggestion i found in xda (it says that mine are safe)
does it realy means that i realy could flash my dev with any firmware??

You have the same Tab as I do, yes you can flash any gsm or european rom... DON'T flash the cdma roms as they are different from my understanding, could be wrong...
Look at my post above if you want to flash to gingerbread... I know that works...
Cheers...

you can try this stock pre-rooted ROM 2.3.4 Gingerbread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161033
follow the instruction carefully, nobody is responsible but yourself if anything happen to your G-Tab while flashing a new rom.
Once you have stock pre-rooted ROM 2.3.4, you can shop around for other ROMs at the Development forum.
You can actually just go the android development. The overcome rom is quite easy to use. All the guide are there for u. Try it out.

As long as you are being careful about it. As far as I remeber Sprint G-Tab is CDMA, therefore you should check if overcome has CDMA kernel or not.
Again be very careful chosing a ROM and Kernel for your tab. Ultimately you are responsible if you brick your device.
EDIT: After looking at the overcome posts again, it looks like overcome ROM and Kernel is for GSM ONLY. DO NOT flash your SPRINT G-tab with it. You will brick your device.
My tab s already rooted..no custom ROM..I have v2.2, build:2.6.32.9, base and:EA24....I keep getting the msg to update...after reading this, will Overcome update me to Gingerbread?
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium
DON'T use Overcome for Sprint tab.
It is not meant for it.
I know if you get rod of root then upgrade to gb via kies its the easiest.. . as long as your carrier allowed it. if its the 1010 then you should be fine.. .
but there is few thread s there that will help will post link when get to PC
regards

Going frm FROYO to GINGERBREAD sometimes problematics. That is why I recommended you to get a rooted stock 2.3.4. Updating from a stock Gingerbread to a custom ROM Gingerbread would be much simpler process than going fromFROYO to custom Gingerbread. I see so many people stuck on samsung screen trying to upgrade from FROYO to GINGERBREAD.
