Any news on porting this Rom to the T-Mobile G2X? I liked the UI on the O2X and was wondering when or how it would be possible to port to the G2X
What port ??? what rom
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
judging from the thread title, he means a port of the O2x stock ROM to the G2x
don't think this will happen in the near future (or ever) as most ppl really want the "pure android" experience of the G2x and not the LG bloatware.
there's some porting of the G2x ROM to the O2x going on right now AFAIK but it's not easy as there's some slight H/W differences (mostly radio related). if this procedure gets figured out the other way around shouldn't be too hard then
the devices are still too new, give the devs some time ^^
You wouldn't want the O2x rom on your phone anyway - it's rubbish.
Apparently there isn't much difference between them other than cosmetics anyway.
Yes I did mean if the O2X could be ported onto the G2X, hopefully it will happen, thanks for the insight.
The only difference is the partition layout, so a ROM cooked for the OP2X will just have to be ported to the G2X with a couple of lines of code, or vice-versa.

Hi guys,
Right now I have a Desire HD running Cyanogenmod and it is sweet but Optimus 2x is better hardware.
All I would like to know is Cyanogenmod stable enough on this phone to be a daily user yet?
Any show stopping bugs or things I should be aware of before I make a purchase?
I don't want to run the standard Lg rom, and the fact Cyanogen has one is 90% of the reason I want one. So should I buy now or wait a bit until there is a stable release?
Thanks for your opinions.

Why buy a new phone when u got a desire HD. Stick to the desire and wait untill the nexus 3 will be released.
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
I like it and would switch your DHD with an O2X, but its your call, not everyone likes this device.
Basically yes, CM7 is being used by a lot of people daily including me since build 0, and by arcee long before us all.

I would say yes, since what's what I bought my O2X to do

Definitely the best way, and dhd it's still a capable terminal and allows you to use all android potential right now

O2x easy go for it..............
waste of money to switch unless you are that desperate to play HD games
I tried many devices and if u r a gamer. Ur option is only atrix and o2x. I went with o2x because the ips display and at that time atrix was locked.
U can get one noelw and enjoy it. Then by year end go with iPhone 5 or nexus 3. If ur not a gamer then get the gs2.

I'm seriously considering the LG Optimus 2X as well. The prices of this phone recently came down in India. The only thing thats holding me back is the fact that it still sports Froyo as opposed to Gingerbread in similar speced devices. But I'm quite happy that Cyanogenmod has my back with a nightly for this phone
Should I make the switch from Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 (SLCD version) to the LG? The other phone that I'm considering is the Nexus S. How stable is the Cyanogenmod nightly?

I would say go for it. The nightlies are very stable, and the O2X is actually going to be included in the 7.1.0 RC. Using the O2X on CM7 #56 for a while now, and performance, battery life and almost everything is working like a whiz. I have not actually encountered any major problems, such as the famous phone freeze. The phone is very snappy as well, and I don't see any reason why you should not make the change. =D

Gracias for your reply! Just another question- which custom ROM is preferable? Cyanogenmod or Modaco? Also, when is CM 7.1.0 RC gonna come out?

I tried FR17 Fear edition before the CM nightlies, and I would say that CM, being CM, was much snappier than FR17, but it is entirely up to individual preference though. For the RC, cyanogen has personally posted on twitter that he was hoping for it to come out by this weekend, but no promises though.
One more (I know I'm asking too many...I apologize ) How does the O2X rate against the HTC Incredible S? Will the CM ROM+LG O2X perform better than the HTC ones? I do realize that HTC phones are single core...but have more RAM than the O2X.
o2x has a tegra 2 mate. In day to day usage there will be little to no difference but the o2x will destroy games.
Personally I've decided to wait until Christmas as further research has led me to believe that there isn't a great deal of benefit from being on dual cores at this stage. There is little to none apps which utilize them properly.

Hmm... It really depends on what you want with the phone. If its for gaming, then the O2X wins the Incredible S hands down due to Tegra. However, for daily normal tasks, both might be equally fast(not sure about this, haven't tried an Incredible S yet), as Android still does not fully support multi-threaded tasks, making the O2X's dual cores not being fully utilized. However, I think that in the near future, once dual-core support comes out in probably Ice Cream Sandwich, the difference between these two phones will be greater. About RAM, although the HTCs have more RAM, the O2X already has enough RAM as it is for about anything. So I don't really see why the bigger RAM will really matter.
Cool, thanks cha0sh3r0 & dr.m0x I'm not a gamer but a business user of Androids. So gaming performance is not a criteria for me. The reasons for going in for O2X are quite a few.
1. Its around 2000 Rs (45 USD) cheaper than the Incredible S.
2. It has Cyanogenmod support...Incredible S has a locked bootloader (which may change)
3. O2X has dual-core which future proofs me when Ice Cream Sandwich comes out...either as an official LG or Cyanogenmod release.
I'm done with Samsungs and their cheap plastic builds which I really hate. HTC phones seem to have some weird "death grip" issues. LG O2X seems like a good bet for me

No prob dude
I have more faith in the community to provide help and support as opposed to a company, thats why I'm glad that Cyanogen is around
Besides, being an exclusive Linux user (yes, even at work)...hacking and modding comes easy to me
Most of the comments here are spot on. But remember CM7 doesnt support BlueTooth and A2SD. That is a basic function and the only reason many of us use Madacos. Including me

why do you need a2sd there is plent of room for apps especially if your not a gamer, I only worried about that on my desire that had 100mb
Hello developers. i'm from USA and i have the Tmobile G2X. we dont have a lot of devs working on the g2x. And now we users dont have a choice but to flash CM7 and other stock gb roms.
some developers that were working on the g2x had said that it would not be hard to port the Optimus 2x, or other roms from the 2x to our G2x
because even thought its the same hardware, the build and framework are different and thats how they thought it would be easy
we just want to have an LG OVERLAY like the 2x have.
please we appreciate your work 100%
or can you find a way to flash rom from G2X>2X AND 2X<G2X
It's not the same hardware, G2X uses a different radio chip due to it's 4G, that also means different GPS implementation and no doubt other stuff too.
Hello frendz..

But now my frend asking for it at same price i got.

I dont think so.. the neo looks better and has a much better software support i guess. the neo will get the new android ice cream sandwich really soon. LG instead has a worse update policy (the users had to wait a really long time until they got gingerbread).
Go for optimus 2x.

Well, it depends...
If you want an out of the box working smartphone... stick with the Sony.
If you like experimenting with your phone and install custom ROMs... go for the LG.
It has pretty good hardware for its price. And works like a charm with CM or MIUI.
The stock ROMs are s**t.
Definitely go for it

Wouldn't trade my phone for the Sony ever.

its dosent matter what it was. matters only what it is! with few clicks you ahve CM7.2 with works for me faster than 2.3.6 on a nexus s witch is pure android.
defenetly would upgrade to optimus. but it depends if you can get new for new of new xperia for used optimus?

Very happy O2X user here too. CyanogenMod FTW!
To counter what everyone says: NONONONONO.
I honestly don't think there's a worse device to go for right now than the O2X. Sure the Dev work is good, but why go for a phone with zilch official support? The Neo's going to get ICS, I believe. The O2X might take 8 years to get it. Stay were you are.
Someone offered me a neo for my o2x once. I didnt even take the time to respond.
Off course you should go for the o2x, because it is an awesome phone!
Granted, the stock software sucks monkey balls, but custom rom support is way better than the neo. Once you put cyanogenmod on it, you can tweak it so its just how you like it. Thats why i love this phone. SE sucks imo for locking their bootloaders.

I have to agree. Cyanogenmod is very very good on this one Actually I can buy what phone I would like. Nexus og S2 or whatever but I'm gonna stick with 2X for a while. Why? Because its so goddamn fun phone to have with all the dev's work here!
What CM are you guys using and like so much? I tried the latest nightly #204 and it was full of bugs(camera especially, also touch button led's turning off, etc.)...

Me i'm using Temasek's latest kang (CM 7.2). I would advise you to use a new kang as well instead of nightlys, obviously, as the buildbot is broken.

but if only want official update, go for neo
lg stock rom sucks but the custom rom really2 great!
The eternal suggestion for any android phone is when there are devs working on it and they are doing great, just go for the phone. Any kind of it.

im so happy with it, i had xperia x10, galaxy tab, and if when i bougth lg 2x LG would have been spending $ 150 more of i must, but i cant so i go for 2x and a friend of mine has the ss2 and the lg doents ask much may be on multitasking but im not using ten apps at time im hapi muiu user, cm is good too but i like the tools on miui, limit data and those stuff
do the swap before the neo owner realises he is retarded...
I have an O2x while my sister has a Neo, both phones are good, but my O2X is faster, has better screen, and is better supported in fact of custom roms.
On the other hand, Neo looks better and has better stock rom support (and ICS soon)...
Summing everything i'll go for the O2X anyway
Hardware > Software
Making bad decision's one at a time.
Well I had the same delima between optimus 2x and xperia Neo , go for optimis 2x you won't be disappointed , and install cm7.1 asap because LG skin is crap

I know this is asking a lot, but I thought I'd just request it and throw it out there. I'm not a proffessional developer or anything that's for sure, but I don't think it should be that hard to port ICS to the Thrill/O3D. The only reason it's not out already is because literally nobody has been working on it, and it's a little upsetting to me. And to be honest, I could care less if the 3D capibilities worked on the ROM or not. ICS for LG Nitro has been released on XDA I believe, I've seen a video of it. Wouldn't it be easy just to port that release onto the Thrill instead of starting from scratch and creating ICS for the Thrill? Plus, I love the new UI LG has came up with for it's ICS phones, and I believe that UI is included for the released update for the Nitro. I don't know, I'm just throwing this out there since nobody seems interested in it anymore, maybe I can get some developers out there working on it? It'd be nice, but I'm not holding my breath.
That would be cool I would like to see this

I think they have to wait until the ICS source gets leaked or ICS official update for the LG Optimus 3D comes out.
Would be nice though.

Theres always a way, just not enough developers on this forum.
well i just did a little research last night and found out that the only device (from like 7 phones) that has our chipset cpu/gpu and is running ICS is the samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0
and lg is suposed 2 release ics for o3d on 3Q this year... so lets wait?
Looks like the LG Spectrum is close to getting ICS. At least LG is trying to update something here in the U.S. at a respectable time:
http://phandroid.com/2012/05/28/ice-cream-sandwich-leaked-for-the-lg-spectrum-over-the-air-update-rolling-out-soon/
Maybe the O3D doesn't have enough hardware to run ICS. And I used a ported Prada rom before, it really was built on O3D's v21d, just the framework of Prada. In short a developer can only insert mods and packages on our (built for O3D) roms, you even have to flash LG's compatible baseband to get a custom rom running properly
And I do believe the 3DMax was built to run ICS instead of our O3D, it's probably the only purpose
Guys , do we have any updates on this thread?? I'm dying to upgrade android on my LG Thrill.
P.S. I have spent some time to find something.
Unfortunately couldn't find ANYTHING
Big Thanks in advance
ICS was ported a few weeks ago. It is compatible with your Thrill.

I dont think O2X has the hardware to support 4G(LTE), the new O4X does support.
P999 is the O2X for the US market, with whatever differences in hard- and software, just like SU660 is for the Korean market, also with some differences in hard- and software.
P990 is for the rest of us. If you look into the developers fora, you will see there is a distinction between ROMs for the three models. If you live in the US, get the P999, so you are sure to get the official support.
When it comes to custom ROMs, the O2X is a breeze to use, and you will have to make great effort, to brick it. Once LG releases official ICS update, the pages here will explode with ROMs.
I have had the phone for almost two years now and I am becoming more and more satisfied with it, I will only exchange it for perhaps the O4X, due to the larger screen, my eyesight is not what it used to be!!!!!
