2011 GMC Acadia Denali Review - Off-topic

Looks like GMC is on its way!
2011 GMC Acadia Denali Review
When it comes to a Denali, Most Americans think of a Yukon rather than an Acadia. So it was interesting when GMC showed off the Acadia Denali at the New York International Auto Show last year.
General Motors has had a great luck with the Lambda platform – selling more than 200,000 of Acadias, Traverses, Enclaves and to a certain extent now gone Saturn outlooks. With automaker still working through the recession, a brand new platform was not the right solution.

Selecting an Android Auto Head Unit

I have been searching online everywhere and cannot find any good sites or tables that compare Android Auto units. I don't even know where to begin when selecting a unit. Can anyone help me? I have no idea where to begin. Thanks in advance!

I've been talking with someone from AVIN & they said the Avant 3 will be released in the near future but with a $799 US price tag....NO thanks
I'm looking for one that already has 2gb ram & 32gb internal storage I've only seen a couple of these but since the new roms have been released is there even a point in getting them..?
I've been banging my head for a few weeks now & need help deciding..
I have a guy on ebay that'll sell me a 7" Pumpkin KD-C0250 with kitkat for $220 US is this a good deal..?
Thanks in advance ! This site is awesome so much better than joying support..LOL
EDIT: The models I like has no dvd has the buttons on the front left side with SD & GPS slots
MUST pair with iPhone 5/6
Cid, I think we are talking about two different types of units. I think you're talking about straight Android head units, what I am looking at are Android Auto compatible units. Like these Pioneer units, for example: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/androidauto/

no sugestions which one is recommendable?:crying:
Well... I recommend NOT THAT UNIT.
Unfortunately, if you want something that isn't complete garbage, you're going to be spending a bit more than your target price.
1) NONE of the aftermarket chinese Android head units will support Android Auto, but *some* will be able to run an open source re-implementation of Android Auto called "Headunit for Android Auto" -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/paid-software/android-4-1-headunit-android-auto-t3125252
2) Thing about running "Headunit for Android Auto", is that it requires certain hardware video codecs to be available, which I *understand* to mean that ONLY the head units running INTEL SoFIA SoC will have. In other words, just to get off the ground with your requirements, you will have to aim your sights at the *BEST* chinese head units.
3) For a moderate price bump ($40), I suggest that you narrow your focus to the ones that ship with 2GB of RAM. For example, any of these: https://www.carjoying.com/new-android-car-radio/quad-core-2-din-android-car-audio.html -- you will note that you will be looking at a price of around $300 US.
If you want paid for real Android Auto support that is guaranteed to work consistently, then you need to set your sights on the more mainstream brands of head units that are carried by big box stores. For example, Pioneer, Kenwood, etc. Of course with those, you'll be looking at a very significant price jump, even for their LOWEST END models.
definitely get a unit with 2GB of RAM

Glucose Monitoring, will it happen and when?

I am am watching the watches per say and the Blood Oxygen level and EKG stuff is really cool, but for me to drop money on a watch I want Glucose monitoring ..... It seems like technology is slowly getting there with companies and products like Dexcom's the G6 and the FreeStyle Libre.
Also in mens watches I guess 45mm is nice, but I would like to see something more along the lines of a 51mm watch. ( When the Note was released there was allot of hate,) but it is one of the most popular phones now.... so why can't we have a "Note" or phablet sized watch....
I am sure Samung has thought about glucose monitoring as a feature in its watches, its just a matter of getting technology to make it work.
Which brings up the next question...... Privacy...... all this data collected is skimmed by google, and then skimmed by Samsung (or Apple in the case of the Apple Watches) so how do you trust these companies and their employee's with personal data.
I'm not sure this can be monitored with existing infrared sensors. I believe you need an implant under your skin that then sends the readings to your watch or other BT device.
But who knows. I'm pretty blown away they can estimate BPM without a cuff.

Right, I am sure there needs to be a skin based sensor right now, it looks like a company in Europe is working on a watch for glucose monitoring that requires some sort of patch below the watch. I guess it will come sometime.
I believe it is possible with LEDs alone. About 6 or 7 years ago a friend who is now in his 80's wrote me about such a device. (He had developed age-related diabetes.) In the 60's and 70's, along with dozens of other medical equipment, they developed a device that used light to monitor blood flow and levels of certain blood factors including glucose. Whether or not Samsung has rediscovered this method or purchased something similar is anyone's guess. (And no, he didn't work for theranos... his clients were NASA and OHSU.) It sure would be a game changer if it made it into a smartwatch.
Is there any app to grab Dexcom G6 sensor readinga from the android phone app?
Používám G-Watch
Would be a nice feature...
It exists / under development in France : named K'Watch.

Dassault and Sanofi recently have been investing in this company, promising. Watch isnt as nice as GW3 though right now

Thanks for sharing this its very helpful for me. I found more information about best watch $5000.
The last update on PK Vitalities website was like 2-3 years ago, they have to have improved it by now. This is sad because this 1 feature alone if it works on a watch would open a whole new market and probably kill the i watch and samsung watch sales unless it gets licensed into them.

Best Android Universal Headunit Money Can Buy?

Hi,
I'm looking for 9 inch LTE/4G enabled Universal Android Head unit. Been using several head units but almost all of them are fake China head unit (wrong Android details, wrong screen resolution, etc)
Any suggestion for the best head unit money can buy that can support Cam 360 and include DSP?
Thanks
you're in the wrong forum, Head up one and go to Android Head Units. Short answer they are all Chinese Head Units as no US company will make one apparently. Names like Joying, IDoing, Daisata, Teyes, seem to at least be truthful about the specs, if not the features. I'd head over and do some searching. Personally I just put a 9" IDoing with CanBus in my '18 WRX, it has some quirks, but generally does what was advertised and is "true" android 10 if someone cobbled together and limited and true 720p. As you will be reminded most of these units are all basically the same with only a couple true manufacturers and a lot of assemblers and resellers.
If you do some research of features you want and go in with moderate expectations(so far my expectations have been FAR exceeded).

Good day me Ladies and Gentlemen

Hello everyone.
My Name is Seppo. My background is a physisist, so i'd count myself as an experienced linux user. I got into alternative operating systems and Google free devices through a Fairphone I bought as a gift. Suddenly I'm getting more and more into the LineageOS world, now in a Samsung S6 zeroflite.
So: Good Day!
Ciao Seppo,
Just got a fairphone recently as well... not as gift (would be pricey) but for myself. What phone do you use, especially since you mentioned alternative and google-free?
Welcome to XDA
What's your current device?
Fairphone is an interesting concept.
I find Google dropping more balls than making touchdowns especially in the last 3 years. Samsung has been sacked by their own poor design choices, omissions and amnesia.
Perfect.
The first Fairphone (presented to someone very near my heart) lead me to an FP2 for myself.
But with the Fairphone2 design, I startend experiencing trouble in the interconnectivity between the screen and motherboard. Then a truck drove across it ... (True story!) so i had to find an immediate exchange.
A friend oft me had this Samsung S6 lying around so i kind of got stuck in it... (Why change a winning team?)
I am currently using my third Samsung S6. It is sufficient for all my needs and cheaply available in the second hand market. But the winning has become arguable by the time, since it now is a rather old device.
I think a lot of the interconnection trouble has been fixed with the FP3. But I am also experiencing a lot of good stories around the SHIFT phones. The repairability is comparable to an FP with a slightly different idea but still a step into the right direction.
But lets see what the future holds.
Edit: the Samsung currently runs a LineageOS17
