Somehow while Rooting and Updating I lost all 3g service on my Verizon Tab. This is a replacement Tabe sent to me by Verizon. When I tried to restore the info from my prior Tab this one came up "No Service" I tried going back to stock, all the previous backups still on my SD card. Nothing works. Anyone know what I need to do to get the 3g back......
Oh ya
The baseband version is unknown
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=955342
You need these I had a similar situation, but these are all the files you need including the modem for 3g
I followed those instructions when I tried to go back to stock. Do I just need to add the modem file in the modem spot in Heimdal or do I need to put all the original file back as well?
i did a complete reload when i did mine using heimdall
Hold down power and volume down to get into download mode.
factoryfs.rfs in factoryFS
zimage in Kernel(zimage) and recovery
this is important read carefully before selecting
there are 2 param. files you want the param. lfs it goes in param.lfs slot
cache in cache
and modem in modem
Those are the only files you will need. It worked from me I have been working on themeing the tab using the deodexed roms posted in development so i have really got stuck before and these have saved me everytime. Hoping to post and accurate battery mod ported from sbrissen over on the fasc forum he has been helping me on it and i think i have a stable version
hope this helps
chris
No luck, tried flashing the files twice no change. Still no 3g and the baseband still says unknown.
you said after you restored from your previous tab, What happened to the previous one? the same thing? and how did it get that way?
On the previous tab I was running KhasMek's K-leanMod v3’s Rom and KhasMek Voodoo Plus v5 Now with Full Voodoo CwM Kernel. I wanted to go back to stock so I could get the latest Verizon update. I wanted the Bluetooth HID access. After I converted back to stock I was unable to load the update. It would download but not install. The Verizon tech was unable to help me so they sent me a new one. I realized that I forgot to disable the lag fix before I went back to stock.
This time I Rooted (using super one step root), installed Titanium backup and installed my backed up apps. When I rebooted I lost the 3g service.
did you remove root and tb b4 you tryed flashing the stock files? Also did you have voodoo active if so deactivate before flashing back to stock.

I recently updated and the 3g performance seems incredible slow compared to the stock rom. Is ther a reason for this or is there a stock rom dl out there that I could go back to?
Thanks

It's because of the MODEM.. Use a different MODEM.. Try UGJL2
ok im a total noob to andriod. I can pretty much do anything with a computer.. SO is it the modem driv er on the flash that isnt playing well with the hardware? How does one update the modem settings?
Thanks

Good place to find some if the modems that are available. You want modems that are cwm updates.
Down load modem, move file to internal sd of phone
Boot into recovery
Install zip from sd
Choose zip
Select the modem file
I would suggest jk4
ok loaded jk4.... no change if not worse.... Where can i dl the original fl6 for cwm.... This really sucks.. im thinking i never should have flashed

The downloads are all zips. You flash the entire zip. Did you pull the modern from the zip?
Get into recovery by long poss on power select recovery from extended power menu
Try putting your phone in airplane mode, then restoring service
well that didnt work either. the jk6 jacked up phone calls too. heres the current incarnation on ATT
firmware 2.2
baseband i897ucjj4
kernel 2.6.32.9
cognition 3.04
Market is dog slow... if it will dl at all... I cant use the original stock modem with the 2.2 upgrade can i.
jk4 not jj4. That is not the modem I said to try
Jk4
i did use jk4. that was the one that hosed everything up. i couldnt call out but could txt. i went to jj4 just to get it working again i cant find the original modem rom anywhere
Like the others said. When you download the modem it will be a zip file. Leave it as is and copy it to your phone. Boot into recovery, choose install zip from sd, choose zip file, navigate to where you saved it it and flash.
Be careful changing modems. I9000 modems dont play well with captivate kernels. Cog is pure captivate, so if you flash jk4 modem you should probably flash another kernel, ie, Firebird or speedmod.
I can assure you that if you are in a good service area, Cog 3.04 kernel/modem combo are great. I would personally flash back to stock and start fresh.

My suggestion is to try another rom or flag back to stock
That's what i think im going to have to do. I just got a full titanium backup done. Stupid question is there any way to flash back to original config with cwm or rom manager
Yes and no. you can flash the jh7ota package that can be found in the development section.
If you were going to do so you must didable lag fix first. I am not suggesting this though.
If you are going back to stock, I would use odin. Do you know what build phone you have, located under battery, something like 1008
sn r1xzc87098a no 1008 anywhere under battery
It will be anywhere from 1006 to 1012
ok gutting it and doing a reflash to 3.04... will see what happens.
odin
get odin 3 1 click downloader. put your phone in download mode. then click Start. that will reflash back to stock JF6 firmware. then once booted back up. put it back into usb debugging then hit master clear. that will completely wipe out sd and put stock firmware back on. its too easy. Now if you sent phone back in to samsung they will still know you hacked it. Because in october ATT sent a firmware update to JH7 2.1 update 1. to get it back on to be COMPLETE out of box. download samsung kies. and it will update it for you. poof. now there is an odin 3 one click for leaked captivate froyo. it looks like stock but has more options and its froyo. uses ji6 modem. works very good for me. just have to get super one click root 1.6.5 to root phone and enable app side loading.
New to android roms and accidently a I9000 rom (Ultimate) onto my I9000M. It now boots showing "Galaxy S GT-I9000M" and then changes to show "Galaxy S GT-I9000" and then stops there.
I am able to get it to boot into clockwork and have tried the restore all. But it is still messing up when booting.
How can I fix this? I am currently on a linux box, will I need a windows box with Odin?
Flash a i9000m rom, you can use heimdall instead of odin probably
Good I9000M roms?
Ok I have Heimdall and am still reading up on it. But looks straight forward enough.
Now to find a stable I9000M rom. Every reference to a I9000M rom I can find seems to be controversial, can anyone with a I9000M vouch for a rom? Is there a list of I9000M roms somewhere? Is there a link to the rom files of the official BMC 2.2 release? 2.1 is fine too don't really care just want to get back onto something stable for now.
i9000m is bell right ?? canada ?? if so try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845558
that should do the trick
You can install I9000 roms on the I9000m, I have done with no problem maybe you install just got corrupted, reinstall the stock rom then flash the one you want over it. I know that darky and Docs roms work very well with our phones, I m on Darky's 9.2 with bells JL2 modem and it works fantasticaly.

azzledazzle, yup it's a Sasktel phone but they get all their phones from Bell Canada anyways.
So downloading the I9000UGJK3.tar right now. I guess what I am still not understanding is what all would have been overwritten by the Ultimate firmware when I flashed it in ClockWork Recovery? And what all am I going to need to overwrite to get back to working? I was on stock 2.1 when I flashed Ultimate. I900UGJK3 is a 2.2 rom as far as I can tell.
From what I have found the firmware would replace all sections of the PDA/Code: rootfs, kernel, param.lfs and the recovery partition.
Are the PIT files some kind of partition table? And would Ultimate have touched them?
Still can't find a good explanation of the CSC. Anyone help me out on what that actually is?
I am unclear if the boot loaders would have been overwritten at all? At least one of the went unwritten as I still have clockwork recovery. Is the ClockWork Recovery contained in one of the boot loaders or does it get a separate partition that the boolader just points to?
Modem is the radio firmware, I assume.
stock firmware will erase any traces of modifications including root lagfix apps anything you have done... if the firmware your downloading comes in 3 files use PIT and Re PARTITION in ODIN, this will completely restore the phone to the day it was made.
if it doesnt come in 3 files and only comes in 1 PDA file DO NOT USE PIT OR REPARITION.
but flash anyway and see what happens, ideally you will be needing a 3 file firmware.
but i only use I9000 I have no idea how the other SGS spinoffs work sorry.
Here is a link to JL2, the latest 2.2 ROM for the I9000M. I use it and I am very happy.
Working again
Ended up on JL2. Thanks to everyone for responding.
There were actually 6 files when I untarred (rootfs, zImage *kernel, param.lfs, secondary bootloader, CSC cache and modem). But it was pretty obvious how to load it into Heimdall. Turns out that part of the update was the second bootloader. Probably what was giving me the issues before.
Still curious if there is a developer or some documentation that can put a little bit more of an explanation of exactly what the param.lfs, Sbl.bin and cache.rfs (CSC) all do. I want to learn and become less of a button pushing monkey.
My LG E400 shut down and won't turn back on
hello
i think i had installed a wrong rom so my phone turned off and dont want to open again even in recovery mood
any help please
Gotta go back to to stock cause my samsung is having the search button issues and it has to go back for warranty. Odin 1 click isback to stock for AT&T phone, and the one for Rogers, is confusing me to all hell. [STOCK ROMS] i896 Rogers 2.1 and 2.2 Warranty ROM Remove ATT boot, no dbdata error!! - xda-developers
Can anyone clarify this for me, im a little lost, they said to go back to stock AT&T bootloaders, then to re-flash the Rogers stock rom?
Edit: i got most of it sorted out, but im looking for the 512 PIT file and cant find it. They said it came with ODIN, but i dont see it there in the file, (all it was a .exe file)
This is so well documented in here. Did you do a search or look through the Q&A subforum?
I did a quick search, but i admit, i didnt have alot of time when this happened this morning. Ive been searching more and more at work. Mainly i just use google though. I managed to find a 512 FILE that was in another captivate thread and emailed myself the link. Going back to stock seems to be quite a task when you havent done it before. Ive read the instructions on the site a few times. Gonna have to look over it again when i get home.
any advice when doing this?
Okay, so im attempting to do it in the next 10 -15 mins, i just want to clariify something.
This is the steps im about to take :
Unzip files to one location
Download "APN backup and restore" from market on Phone & Backup APN settings
Boot phone into download mode. (Powered OFF, hold VOL UP & DN, plug in USB)
Open Odin3 1.xx flashing utility (NOT ODIN3 ONE CLICK RESTORE TO STOCK)
Use the .tar file from the stock ROM .zip in PDA box of ODIN
Use the 512 .pit file that came with odin3 and check re-partition and check auto-reboot. PIT FILE IS A MUST IF YOU HAVE FLASHED ANY CM7 / MIUI Ginger ROM!!!!! If NO GINGER+, pit should be OPTIONAL.
Click start.
Download APN b & R and Restore APN settings
Now, im using S7, which is a 2.3 ROM, do i need to flash the bootloaders too? Thats the most confusing part for me. The rest is cake.
I tried ODIN for the first time the other day to install JVQ then JVR.
When I did that, I selected repartition with the 512 pit. Everything went somewhat fine, but because of issues I was experiencing, I went back to Stock 2.2 KC1 (i9000m).
When I did so, I noticed all the Bell Bloatware was still missing (the install of KC1 was done through KIES after spoofing the firmware to think it was JL2.)
So the phone still appeared ot to be completely stock.
I went into recovery mode and tried everything. I noticed it would fail when trying to apply update.zip. Something about a signature or whatever.
Now that I applied the new KG3 (Gingerbread) from Kies, the Bell Bloatware is still not there, and I notice I don't have the normal shutdown sound that was there with the original KC1.
My question is, did repartitioning cause a complete delete of everything on the phone, including the update.zip?
If so, how do I get this thing back to complete stock? I mean out of the box stock.
Its not like I want the bloatware, but I just want to make this thing original again, to ensure no corruption in what the new Gingerbread is trying to do.
Thanks
Ok confirmed via another user in another thread that the Shutdown sound is no longer a part of KG3.
Now if I can just confirm the rest in my initial post.
Any help guys?
I upgraded last night to Jelly Bean using these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775373&page=11 . The last ROM i had flashed was a gingerbread Apex ROM a long time ago, and I think it had i9000 bootloaders (I think this because an i9000 screen pops up first thing when i turn it on, before the devil kernel logo pops up). I ran in to some issues while upgrading so I used Heimdall 1 click without bootloaders to get me back to stock gingerbread and then when I flashed Jelly Bean and the Devil Kernel everything worked (camera, music, etc.) except it doesn't detect any wireless carrier, APNs aren't saved, it doesn't detect when I take my SIM card out, and it also shuts down randomly. I suspect the problem is with the i9000 bootloaders, but what I have read on this forum makes me think installing new bootloaders is somewhat dangerous so I wanted to get advice before I tried anything else. How should I try to fix this? And if I do need new bootloaders, what is the safest way?
Thanks

Will do as soon as I get home from work. Should I use the same Heimdall method?
While you are in Ginger Bread, you should back up your EFS Folder. I believe that your IMEI was changed in the flash process, and the network could not recognize your phone. In should a case, you could copy the backup of your EFS folder to your JB phone, and restore the IMEI.

I used titanium backup before I flashed, and also copied all of the contents of my internal and external sd cards to my computer before tinkering with things. So do I already have my EFS Folder? If so, how do I restore it? And if not, how do I back it up when I get back to GB?
For anyone else that might come across this problem, I solved it by flashing this modem, then flashing the kernel again
