Hi I installed JVK no probs then installed the ext 4 but something went wrong so i flashed back to JM1 with odin using 3 files and checking re-partition, which is what ive got now but i am tring to root it so i can restore in CWM, but i cant root it, so far ive tried Z4root. OCroot. and flashing chainfires kernel all of which does not work. I also have a copy of O2 file from JJ which i have tried to flash but that just goes to loop. can anyone helpplease im starting to pull my hair out. I can get download and my pc does have drivers many thanks
flash something newer using odin.
JM1 is really old now, flash to froyo and flash a kernel such as speedmod, then flash what you like from recovery

Odin gets stuck when trying to flash JV1....
Gladly I can still use download mode so I'm able to restore my galaxy s....
But I really want to install gingerbread... any ideas on how to install it?
I uploaded an image of the part where the flashing gets stuck... in the image iim using pit 512 but I have also tried with 803 and I get the same result... after odin fails I can disconnect my galaxy s... and boot into download mode again
Have you tried to download odin 1.3 maybe this one is corrupted. Try to restart pc, run odin, put all files, connect the device.

And it didn't work either =/
I was also stuck and i flashed darky's odin rom. Than i have flashed stock gingerbread, flashed 2.2 speedmod kernel and finally i have flashed ultibread via cwm.......so try flashing other rom

Sadly that didn't work either... D:
I'm downloading the JV1 rom directly from samfirmware and if ir doesn't work again I'll try flashing from another computer =)
Well now that JVK has been released I tried flashing that too...
And I can't
It's really weird the bootloaders just don't seem to want to get into my phone x3
I tried using odin and heimdall using the version with the safe bootloaders and it never flashed completely.
Gladly my phone hasn't been bricked... maybe it's because odin and heimdall don't ever get close to flashing the bootloader?
Anyway... I have a mexican galaxy s... I think the name of the model is I9000T
Can someone help?
Hello.
So i've got a problem with my I9000.
I've upgraded it to froyo, official release, so i'm stuck with the 3e recovery.I recently flashed the voodoo lagfix kernel via Odin. I would like to get clockwork recovery to replace 3e, but I understand i have to flash it via Odin, too. My question is : Is clockwork's kernel going to replace voodoo? If so, how can i have them both?
Thanks a lot in advance.
if you upgrade offical froyo then u must first do a root..the root files can be find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108...download correct root for your firmwire phone...then flash it tru odin..when u done with that u must download a rom manager from market...and install it to get clockwork mode =)
I wouldn't follow the previous poster's advice.
If you're going to use cwm, why do you want stock firmware? Try flashing speedmod kernel to get cwm, which has built in root and lagfix accesable from recovery. Or just go to a custom fw like docrom kitchen.
Best procedure for going custom with the sgs is a single flash of speedmod w/ cwm from odin, and then flash anything else via cwm.

I tried flashing a gb boot loader from ics and it didn't work so I flashed back to stock gingerbread 2.3.4. I tried rooting my phone like I did when I was on froyo but it didn't work..I can't find any other methods.. any links that could help?
You have to use a kernel swap method, our flash Boogs kernel which has a root option in cwm.
You flash the fugu root mod with Odin, which is a kernel.
Then flash the stock kernel with Odin.
You could also install the Corn Kernel and use the CWM options to install root. From there you can choose whether you want to keep running the Corn Kernel or flash back to stock.
If you're just going to go back to ICS, you don't need root

I use Odin one click first then. Odin 1.7 to flash speed kernel use CMW from it to Flash GB or ICS ROMs.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA
Or better yet, Odin to KK4, let boot until your passed the 3G screen, Odin the Talon kernel, boot to CWM recovery, and then flash your selected ICS ROM... (don't flash the ICS kernel first... it will cause problems... I found out the hard way)

if you don't want to do kernel swap or any flashing you can install superoneclick on you PC and then connect your mobile and click on root button on superoneclick and your crappy will get rooted
I rooted mine crappy running gb with soc about 3 months ago

How? That shouldn't work on gingerbread.

Hi there, I rooted my GT-I9000M on KG3 FW using this FW http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23560333&postcount=498 , downloaded Superuser and busybox, downloaded ROM Manager, flashed CWM, but when I'm trying to install custom roms, it boots up on Android System Recovery 3e instead of CWM Recovery. Did I missed something or I need to do something else to make it work ?
I've got the exact same problem.
Flashed stock kg3 pda,phone,csc
Flashed rooted kg3 (pda only in odin)
Installed superuser and busybox which seem to work correctly
installed rom manager and download cmw recovery.
Tried rebooting in cmw recovery and it does not work...
I don't think the cwm is the same...I believe that is just the simplest root directory possible, nothing more. Try flashing jvt or jw5 in pda and root that after with appropriate root kernel. Then you will have no issues. Besides there are no custom roms for kg3 anyway.

This is a good guide by All Gamer. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379650
I already saw that guide, but the JVP ROM is not available anymore. I googled it and I can't find it !
Guys just flash jw5 under pda and use the kg3 modem and csc. Then flash semaphore 2.7.4. tar. Problem solved. I have a bell Canada phone myself and this setup works great. Then you can flash ics or whatever in cwm. If you don't like ics, I recommend Dmore3.3 for jw5.

Is there any rooted kernel out there which I could use with stock kg3 rom and modem without losing anything at all?
So I could use cmw recovery for a nandroid backup of my phone?
thanks
I just did what vanisleryan said, but I still got the Android System Recovery 3e not the CWM Recovery. I'm totally lost now ...

Bud I'm running a custom rom installed through cwm and the instructions I gave are what I'm running right now. If you're rooted with the semaphore 2.7.4 kernel than you have cwm. Not sure what you did wrong? Go and install the cwm apk I think it's available in the chainfire thread.

OK, I figured how to get to CWM. When I'm trying to install the MIUI ROM, I got bootloops. Did I do something wrong or it's just an imcompatible ROM ?

Not sure but I think you might just need to pull the battery when it boot loops and go back into cwm with 3 button combo, install again and should complete install. It probably tells you installation instructions on thread. Man if you don't end up like miui then try Dmore3.3... It's rock solid and resembles ics but runs on gb.

I successfully installed MIUI and I love it. The only thing annoying is that it's showing numbers instead of my carrier name.
Maybe you need to install a different modem, where in the world do you live?

Hi,
I have a problem when trying to flash my galaxy s and install ICS Dark night v5.5.
When I try updating the kernel using ODIN, my phone gets into bootloop.
It is a froyo installed phone. Also, I am unable to get recovery mode. It enters download mode though.
Can anyone help me out in this??? I am very new to this stuff... I am a beginner...
Held up in this for a couple of weeks.....
Thanks,
Sridhar
If you can boot into download mode, use ODIN to flash a stable rom, then get CWM and your back to where you were, hold off the nightly builds or post in the Cyanogenmod official thread or forums.
Thanks a lot... That did work.. But now i have got Mobile network not available error after flashing.....
Probably best to mention which version of software you are using and the source...
Best option is to flash stock gingerbread version via Odin.
www . theandroidsoul . com / xxjvu /
sorry can't put correct address in yet dont have enough thanks...
it would be better to update to any stable stock rom, go to sammobile.com...
i suggest you update to the latest firmware or ics stock rom for i9000 via odin then root that firmware you have chosen(CF-ROOT) and then update the custom rom darknight v5.5 via cwm...
I think you need gingerbread bootloaders for ics.. You were on Froyo, so it won't work.. You'll need to install a stock gingerbread rom with the pit file and repartition.. After that you can try an ics rom..
I found this thread. After attempting to get CM9 onto my S it wouldn't boot so I used odin to install a stock from from sammobile but now the phone just boot loops.
Could someone please help me.
More info:
After the odin flash - I get a screen like the recovery menu saying things such as "E:Format_volume:rfs format failed on /dev/block/stl10" and things of a similar nature - will have to see what the others say.
Any ideas?
You probably flashed a rom without bootloaders. Try flashing a 3 file rom from here and repartition with 512 pit.
