hey as some of yall have seen ive been trying just about everything to get better 3g lately lol. however heres my question after a few nights of googleling i found that ppl have hacked and modified att gsm radios and got crazy speed increases so im wondering if the same thing could be done with a cdma radio saftley that is because flashing a radio is one of the riskiest things you could do. Major props to anyone who thinks they could pull this off and i would deffinitly be down to test if the time came.
Yes, it is possible and there's a post on how to do it somehwere here on XDA. I can't seem to find it, but if you search you should run into it. I haven't done it yet becasue I don't have any signal issues and, based on the poll, about half of the people noticed an improvement.

You know what, i look at this forum everday hoping to improve my phone. I don't know anyone else who does this, and those that know I do think i'm mad.
All i'm trying to do is get a good sigal on my phone. I've tried flashing every radio ROM and and its time to face up to it... we'll never get a decent signal on these things.
I get two bars in my house. Just put my sim into a nokia n82 and its constantly on full bars! 3.5g too constantly.
Have I got a duff phone? or are all these HTC TDs just crap at what their primary purpose is ... to connect to a mobile network properley?
Shame. i'm thinking of buying an i900 Omnia instead, Is this any better for signal strength? maybe i should use my old nokia 2110 from the 90s. prob has a better battery still than the HTC TD!
Just out of curiosity... Why are you posting this as a new thread in the rom development forum?
I'm also looking for better signal strength... Have been ever since getting my diamond. I've also flashed all available radio roms... But this is (at least in my experience) quite common with these phones... After a couple of month (and a couple of version updates to radio roms) for the most part resolved...
The diamond is the first phone which give me full bars at my home. Using .05 radio.
No probs at all.
I understand your beef with eh signal man but this is not the correct place to voice your issue as this part of the forum is for ROM development.
Have you tried other Radios too?
To see 2 or 5 bars - it is a question of programming. This does not mean, you will have a "better" signal on a different device.
On the other hand, your handset can be also defected.
BTW I think this is not the right forum to post this problem.
Because i've been trying all the radio ROMS here and they don't seem to make any difference to the RF. Maybe battery power is improved. I read that elsewhere that the poor signal was just down to the ROM.
Does a Radio ROM exist that actually improves reception?
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks again
Mark

Please can someone move this thread into another section? I don't think i'm going to be able to sleep otherwise!
goodnite. now u can sleep.
ps: jus cudnt stand seein u get mad on ur own!
I have a complete opposite exprience. Before i had orange i had no reception in my house. Neither with the sim in my diamond. I changed to hi/kpn and got 2 bars inside and 2 outdoors (with radio .03). With radio .05 2 bars inside and 3 bars outdoors. With .07 the same as .05 only faster gps fix. Now with .08 i have 3 bars inside and 4 outdoors.
ill sacrifice a bar or two ANY day to have the coolest device in the world. im almost batman!

With duttys roms i always got gps issues, using swiftblades 6.0 lite now. I get a gps signal in my living room (near windows) which was not possible with older phones i used or with any of my girlfriends phones.
But i can tell you it was a hard way of trying roms and settings to get my diamond working nearly perfect.
I think its a good mix of a rom, radio and settings.
Only way is trying.
...its no advertise for the diamond. Its still a nice ppc but i prefer other devices.

I'm with you on this, if all we wanted was better reception we'ld never be buying these things. (Mine last almost a year at best) It's all about tweaking, playing & most of all coolness (My teenage kids will kill me)
Hi there.
I've had HTC devices for quite a while, and ive heard about this forum, lookd a bit, but never dared installing anything.
Atm. I have the Diamond, and im ok happy with it, the battery lives and it works and GPS is uber fun
(I am from Denmark btw)
I have looked at the radios, and read that this .05 should give battery life and more speed, is that true? And it says it needs Hard SPL to function, which I dont really see what use it? What is it used to and why do I need it?
On the Radio page theres barely any info on the difference on the radios either, which is very confusing :S
Ofcourse I guess it kills the warrenty?
Then regarding roms, is any of them danish at all? with danish t9?
there are sticky's in the ROM development section for most of this.. or you can look at my site for some details and instructions..
it seems ppl think that .05 radio is a bit better for some stuff.. it can get a bit subjective. You really need to try them for yourself to be sure. you need hard-spl cause you don't want to own an expensive paperweight if something goes wrong with the flash.
there's not much info on radios cause htc doesn't necessarily list out the differences.. sometimes its little tweaks for battery life or network coverage.. some radios add the fourth band as well..
please go search the ROM development forum for the ROM of your choice.. next time you should do it before you post.

Ok I've been searching the forums for a while now to find answers to my questions and I've answered a few of them but I think I need a little more advice.
I'm using the HTC Touch Diamond and the Model NO shows DIAM500 on the back I've got MP6950, ROM version is 1.22.557.1, Radio Version 1.03.06F. I'm a CDMA user (Pretty sure anyway) and my carrier is Cellular South.
I love my Diamond it's just my carrier that seems to be a problem. I live out in the boonies so my reception is virtually non-existant at home. Not a major problem but an annoying one. It's not just with the Diamond it's with every cell phone I've ever had. Also the battery life could be better I think, I get about 4 hours with pretty moderate use while I have signal (at work). Haven't really done any tweaking YET but I've started messing around today.
Now this brings me to the reason I'm posting. I was looking into updating my ROM but was not able to download the latest from the HTC site (I figured out why). So as far as ROM's go I'm a little confused with all the custom ROMS posted here, I don't really know which would be best for me and if they will work at all and not screw up my phone. Can anyone offer some advice on what ROM is should use?
And I also want to play around with different Radios because I'm under the impression that it could help my reception issue, and then again it probably won't since I've always had this issue. So has anyone had luck with a certain radio helping poor reception? Is there one that would be better for me than the others?
I'm sure these are fairly regular and annoying questions but I just want to make sure I don't throw away the purchase I just made by updating the ROM and radio.
Most of XDA Forum is not for CDMA.
You can always find custom ROMs. Each ROM is different from the others (included applications and options which affect memory usage and performance). So there really isnt a "best ROM." You can check out the thread for CDMA ROMs and make sure you know how to install new ROMs and that you have the needed applications (HardSPL for GSM I dont know if its the same for CDMA). If you have what it takes you can try several ROMs and radios to find the most suitable one for you. Normally this shouldnt harm your phone unless you dont read well before attempting.
Hope this helps.
Hi Guys
Flashed a few roms on my sexy nexy but my brother had recently flashed a radio and told me of the signal improvement. I'm using Kang O Rama rom and wondered whether anyone could suggest a good radio to flash?
Cheers for any help

First one to say it: Wrong Section
Should be in Q&A.
But, to answer your question, I have seen that it really depends on your own experiences with each radio. I found that none of the 5.XX radios worked well for me. So, I'm running the older radio. But mos people say that the newer ones are better. So, you should just try them out. Just be careful when flashing
Cheers for that. I noticed that I had posted in the wrong forum straight away but didn't know how to move it with tapatalk.
Thanks for the info. Anyone got any recommendations?

same here:
5.12 horrible battery and terrible internet speeds
5.08 terrible battery
4.xx no problems
and the same bad reception on all of them
=> UNLESS you actually have a PROBLEM with the radio, leave it alone!
5.12 radio here, wonderful battery and blazing speeds. No problems at all.
There are so many different threads right now with repeat and/or conflicting information I am trying to sort some things out. From what I've either read or experimented with first hand, anything stock image based with any of the new radios will work, but aosp roms only work with the old 5.0 radio. The one exception to this that I don't understand is euphoria and the 98r radio work on Tmo. I am able to get and make calls while on lte. I don't have anywhere near enough knowledge to understand this so I'm hoping others can chime in and explain what's going on. I haven't tried the Tmo M build and I haven't updated my bootloader and I've only used banks gappps, if any of that matters at all.
terminus rom as well(released today). i can receive calls on lte with a new radio, and volte is working. yes, im on tmobile. btw, it is an aosp issue. but we have found whats missing, so soon itll work in all aosp roms as well.
Good to know, thansk for that info. So it's just a matter of the rom devs adding something to fix it? Why is it only Tmo users affected?
