Tmobile 5.1 summary - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

There are so many different threads right now with repeat and/or conflicting information I am trying to sort some things out. From what I've either read or experimented with first hand, anything stock image based with any of the new radios will work, but aosp roms only work with the old 5.0 radio. The one exception to this that I don't understand is euphoria and the 98r radio work on Tmo. I am able to get and make calls while on lte. I don't have anywhere near enough knowledge to understand this so I'm hoping others can chime in and explain what's going on. I haven't tried the Tmo M build and I haven't updated my bootloader and I've only used banks gappps, if any of that matters at all.

terminus rom as well(released today). i can receive calls on lte with a new radio, and volte is working. yes, im on tmobile. btw, it is an aosp issue. but we have found whats missing, so soon itll work in all aosp roms as well.

Good to know, thansk for that info. So it's just a matter of the rom devs adding something to fix it? Why is it only Tmo users affected?

ATT WM6 upgrade path post request

Can someone please consolidate a post together for us of the method(s) of going from WM5(AT&T) to WM6(latest Voda Rom) + AT&T enhancements. All steps and or things we need to do. Since it seems that AT&T is never going to actually release a ROM and this will most likely be the only way any of us ever get it , it would be good to have a consolidated path so that more people will be able to understand and upgrade in a more consistent way. This way with all the steps in one place its more likely less people will brick their phones.
Thanks to the community for all that you have discovered thus far.

In all honestly, the leaked ATT ROM is more than likely going to the the official ROM. As someone who's tried both, I really don't see any difference, even with the ATT software installed on the vodafone rom. The speed people keep claiming seems to be more of a side effect of the hard reset required with flashing the ROM.

I tried both, I think Voda is better because ATT is (still) affected by the alert loss problem (as the wm5 cingular rom)

Possibly, however my money would be on the fact that this problem is actually fixed in the WM6 ATT rom, but without one of the Palm engineers actually telling us what's different between the leaked WM6 roms and the old ROM there's no good way to be sure.

Any recommended AOSP 2.1 for Non-Sprint CDMA Heros?

What are the top 3 AOSP 2.1 for Non-Sprint CDMA Heros?
Trying to avoid issues with PRI, Radio and to suffer from lack of Data while roaming or lack of voicemail notification. Thanks in advance.
darch droid is the only true aosp 2.1 rom here, the others are just stripped of sense apps but still have the framework. They are all excellent choices, however, and I suggest just flashing and trying, and develop your feel and opinion, as everybody's is different (and many phones seems to behave differently as well)
There is also cyanogen mod 6. Its the darchdroid version of 2.2.
Both roms will work with other carriers. You might have to change 1 or 2 things so it doesnt say Sprint, but it will work.
Thanks guys. Will try Darchdroid. Lets see.
Anyone try those listed on Cellular South?
I guess so... see these posts:

[Q] Got a 4.2.2 AT&T active that I've unlocked and put on T-Mobile. Now what?

I've rooted and modded every phone I've ever had including my last phone, an S3. Now I'm looking and kind of confused at my next steps here.
I'd like to have a slimmed down phone, definitely don't need AT&T bloatware now. I'd love to have tmobile's wifi calling back, but I can deal if I can't have that. Wouldn't mind having an updated version but again, I really just want a slimmed down system... Battery life over bells and whistles for me.
What should I do next with this phone. What would you do if it was your phone?
Oh, I read about a procedure for accessing some bands for t-mobile's lte but mine is showing LTE right now.
Thanks,
Gilligan

Really the only thing you can do is root your phone, and uninstall the bloat you don't want. You have a phone with a locked bootloader so you can't flash custom ROMs with custom kernels. Install SafeStrap and xposed, and that's about the best you can hope for.
Yes, I've read about this much... Wasn't sure if things might have changed.
So safestrap will be as close as I can get. What would be the best option for a ROM for what I'm looking to achieve? Is there a way (safe) to get to 4.3 or 4.4?
What is the best/safest way to "uninstall" the bloat one I've got whatever ROM I'm gonna run installed?
Thanks again!
Gilligan
Any suggestions?
I would REALLY love to have the t-mobile WiFi calling feature. Is this possible?

That is not possible. The only way to get WiFi calling is with a T-mobile stock ROM, and obviously there will never be one for the S4 Active.

Well ok, that makes sense... thought maybe someone may have had ported one over or something.
What ROM would be recommended for lightweight stripped down ROM?

Where are we at porting international ROMs?

A lot of questions are being asked in the 920F threads about T-Mobile functionality. Thought we could use a centralized thread for folks to pitch their ideas, thoughts, and solutions. Mostly we know that in call audio is borked when using on a 920T. @Goldie has made an awesome custom rom called "Alliance". And @mikeyinid is crushing it on the TMO forums, hopefully, we'll come to a solution soon.

I'd love to know more about this as well. I'm on a Canadian W8 with Telus and would really like to give @Goldie 's ROM a shot. Or at least something similar.
Guys. I know you wanna be able to run international roms, specifically Alliance, but you don't need to keep tagging us. I know goldie and his guys are looking at it, I've messed with it a bit and all I get is phone fc's. I don't know enough to be any help for this.

Time and testing! And it's way more involved than JUST the hardware. If that's the case just flash the current alliance and live without, volte, Wi-Fi calling, oh...sound during calls which no one needs in there phone. [emoji6] Remember once you port it, then guys will be b,,, itching about this and that and complaining like the devs got 10% of what they paid Samsung for this phone and stock Rom and owe them something. These same complainers are the ones that lack patients to wait for the Rom to be thoroughly tested to be as stable as possibly...I am no dev, but it doesn't take a dev to understand how time consuming a Rom like ALLIANCE is. Plus the continued support in threads for multiple devices!

the note 3 and note 4 had issues - not the same - but issues when attempting to use international roms on TMO phones - eventally some one came up with a flashable fix that you could flash after flashing an Interntational ROM on TMO _ that is what I am hopeing for - and maybe one day someone will do it.

Not international, but the alliance rom for the Tmo S6 Edge works on my Tmo S6 with the newest Ktoonsez kernel. At this time though, we should support the guys developing in the TMO threads. They put in a lot of hard work and make a great product.

I agree wholeheartedly - but for the sheer variety of being able to flash any rom made for the S6 - I am hopeful a flashable fix will be made soon - in the meantime - alliance for the TMO S6EDGE works awesome with Ktnoonze's kernel - great rom!

Yep, everything is working on it.
any updates on this?

Real answer.. pe3 on aosp

Anyone have a real answer to what's up with aosp/cm roms not working with the new bottloader.? It seems to me that it can be fixed since evevryone's pointing to a cm rom for verizon that works on our phones. So is it just because the developers don't want to rebase their rom? Or what, is anyone working on a fix ? It's nothing but problems with this going on soooo many people having probs and clogging up threads piss in people off
what for when you can just downgrade back to OK2 firmware/bootloader/baseband and flash AOSP and CM from there if u want.
I know this but others dont, I should have put that in my statement I suppose but this is still not an answer to my question. And for some the bootloader and modem may fix things they had issues with on prior versions. There has been issued with storage , partitions and who knows what else and we are a development community which I kno I come to to be cutting edge, get the newest patches, features and the like because carriers and manufacturers don't or wont do it.

they will most likely eventually fix it, but as of right now its not a PRIORITY when there are way "around it" to get it working.
I've fixed it myself for myself now so I really ain't pressed it just seems counter productive to me
What was your fix/workaround, I'm curious? Thanks!
