[APP] Volume+ - Ringing tone too soft? Get this! - Desire HD Themes and Apps

Hi all,
I have been always been using ways and means to turn up the volume on my DHD until I came across this app which will really TURN IT UP!.
Highly recommended to those who finds that their ringtone and notification abit too soft. App is now free at the author website but is paid app at the market. So grab them while it is still free! heheh
Note: Only for gingerbread ROM.
http://androidaudiohacks.com/home/volume-gingerbread/download

Thanks, gotta give it a try.

Works!
Been using this for about 2 weeks and yes it definitely works. When you move ROMs and loose the app its immediately obvious what a difference it makes.

quality!!!! cheers!

I can't install it via CWM 3.x.x.x. on LeeDroid V.3.0.1GB..it say "Installation aborted"..any ideas??
Edit^ my fail, must rename *.zip to *.apk

do you have to run it ever time you restart the phone?

Noooooo. Do your setup and forget about it. Best to stay away from max volume just in case.

sounds good i will try it

How to decrease bass level (it's only +0db in settings, but no "-db")????

It's not working with RCmix 6.1.0.1
I am using DSP Manager and put the treble fields to maximum to boost the ringtones, now I can hear them lol
But I think the speaker can handle an extra boost before distortions

ARHD 5.1 with MDJ's Gingerbread V10 kernel works well, makes a difference for sure.

Thanks man, it really works

thank you it is working in my desire hd

Only partial luck here - Running CyanogenMod 7.0.3
The app itself works just fine, and clearly boosts the speaker volume for all applications - except the one I want - the ringer. When comparing the ringtone selected in settings to the actual ringtone when the phone is ringing, the ringtone itself is noticeably quieter than the boosted sound.
I got around this relatively easily, though. All my ringtones are mp3s managed with ringdroid. I transferred the mp3s to the computer, used the freeware program audacity to increase them to the same gain level as the volume app would boost them too, and then set them up as normal. The result is that they're all normalised and effective, and the volume app itself still boosts the sound for everything else.

Very useful! Needed this. Thanks

[Q] Edit camera to remove focus sound?

Hello there!
I know it's a feature in CM7 to mute the camera completely, including the focus sound. But i'm using Froyo(bread), because i feel it's overall better than gingerbread.
I've edited the camera_click.ogg and video_record.ogg to be silent but as you all probably know, if the phone isn't mutet there will be a loud BEEP BEEP sound when you take pictures.
I've learnt that this something that is coded inside one of the camera files, more precisely:
Code:
"android_packages_apps_Camera / src / com / android / camera / Camera.java", line 122, "private static final int FOCUS_BEEP_VOLUME = 100;"
Thing is, i'm no coder and even if i did manage to edit this, i'm sure it would need some sort of special compiling before it would work. Therefore im making this thread, in hope of any experienced users out there maybe being able to help me. Since i dont even know how to get to this Camera.java file.
Thanks in advance
Hi... I've FroyoBread too...and I don't like camera sound, so I renamed Camera_Click.ogg from system/media/audio/ui/ to any other name..example: "camera.click.ogg.bak"...now I don't have any fckng sound

That is not the focus sound. I'm aware of how to get rid of click sound, that is as easy as to remove/replace/delete the file from the .rar of the ROM before you even install it.

Boosting Call Volume

Hello, Can someone suggest me some tweak, app to increase call volume. I have to press my ears real hard to the phone to hear folks clearly. I am traveling next week, and wanna make sure I can hear my folks ( vice versa too )
using CM9 with [email protected] # 1 Kernel
checkout either glitch kernel or semaphore kernel. Both have "voodoo sound" implemented which includes a boost in call volume.
Sent from my AOKP icy-glitched Captivate via Tapatalk 2
tx, so I got semaphone, downloaded voodoo sound..just confused as to what should I set to increase sound? not speakerphone but from earpiece
Well the headphone amplifier setting pushes the speaker over it's stock limit. But I believe the call volume tweak is pre-built into the kernel. If you have a root file explorer, go to etc/init.d/ and there should be a call volume tweak in there.

You're correct. /system/ect/init.d/callvolumehack or something like that. And open and read the info and edit to boost it.

/system/ect/init.d/90call_vol to be exact.
Use root explorer to edit the file, I change all values to 2 and it works good, not too loud, lol, lines in the file to change are:
INCALL_BOOST_EARPIECE=0
INCALL_BOOST_BLUETOOTH=0
INCALL_BOOST_SPEAKER=1
INCALL_BOOST_HEADPHONE=0
Change 0,0,1,0 to 2,2,2,2 then save file and reboot, calls should be nice and loud(er).
Has anyone tried changing values to 3? LOL
Thank you for correcting me. And some people do use 3, they still have a hard time hearing.

you could try new devil kernel! Volume hack is just released in it! And much more!
Could you provide a link to the latest devils kernel? Also doesn't call quality depend on the modem that you are using?

About half way down this page. Make sure you read all of first three posts to get all advantages of this kernel. It is amazing! In regards to modem, call quality yes, but volume no.

Try Samsung service mode
Dial *#*#197328640#*#* press debug the audio and increase value.
What are you looking at shortbus......
Volume tweak sorta works with Semaphore. Here's how - increase volume to 3 in init.d. Then open Voodoo Control and set to +5db. I had to set Voodoo volume to +2db to avoid speaker crackling.
I use volume + which works well. It has a setting to up in call volume, boost speaker volumes, and headset volume. You can download it from the marketplace or you can download the pro version. Hope it helps

[MOD][ROOT] Audio Hacks and Modifications + New Insanely Loud Volume Hack!! (post 2)

PLEASE READ: I've noticed quite a few ROM devs are using my files without crediting me or linking back to this thread. I don't want people to start asking my permission or anything, feel free to use these files in your own work, but I worked hard trying to get my head round these files; finding out just what everything does and what the volume limits are. If you do use the modified files or modify your own using my guide please at least give me some credit. Thanks.
I've also made an Application that can do this for you. It can be found here.
PART 1
File: 'System/etc/default_gain.conf'
Hey everyone!
For those who remember my old volume hack on the T-Mobile G1, this is essentially the same thing! For some bizarre reason, Samsung decided to map all the maximum volume levels to an easily accessible file (system/etc/default_gain.conf), which is different to 99% of Android phones out there because it's usually built into the kernel or something harder to modify. Cheers Samsung!
THIS MOD WILL MAKE THE PHONE'S SPEAKER AS LOUD AS THE OS ALLOWS. ANY LOUDER AND THE AUDIO BREAKS! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Things this modification can achieve:
Louder Speaker Volume (Ringtones/Messages/Videos/MusicPlayer/etc.)
Louder In-Call Volume (Earpiece and Speakerphone)
Louder Headset Volume (Perhaps - untested)
Louder Bluetooth Volume (Perhaps - untested)
Louder Analogue Dock Volume (Perhaps - untested)
Louder Digital AUX Volume (Perhaps - untested)
Louder FM Radio Volume (Perhaps - untested)
Click to collapse
There are a few others in that file too. It's weird that instead of defining the Headset Volume for everything, things like 'incall' and 'FMradio' are all separate.
How To Modify
Any text editor will do but I strongly recommend Notepad++ because it's just awesome!
How To Apply
1) Download attatched file ('default_gain.conf' inside 'VolumeMods.zip')
2) Use a file manager or ADB to push it to "system/etc" (back up existing file first!)
3) From ADB or the Terminal do:
Code:
killall mediaserver
or reboot your phone!
4) Enjoy
PART 2
File: 'System/etc/Volume.db'
This isn't really an audio hack as such, it simply allows you to disable some irritating sounds you cannot normally disable.
What this mod disables:
Camera Shutter Sound 1
Camera Shutter Sound 2
Camera Shutter Sound 3
Boot Sound
Camcorder Sounds
AutoFocus Sound
Click to collapse
All this is so far useful for is to disable the camera sounds without modifying the camera itself.
There are most likely other things this file can do but I've not had chance to play with it properly yet, I'll keep going and update this post if I find anything else.
How To Modify
I strongly recommend using the free "SQL Lite Databse Browser". Any program that can open .db files should work just fine though.
How To Apply
1) Download attatched file ('Volume.db' inside 'VolumeMods.zip')
2) Use a file manager or ADB to push it to "system/etc" (back up existing file first!)
3) From ADB or the Terminal do:
Code:
killall mediaserver
or reboot your phone!
4) Enjoy
All the usual warnings apply: I am NOT responsible if this breaks your phone, speaker or ear-drums and I am not responsible for anything else negative that may occur. If you rooted your phone you should know how to recover from potential soft-bricks, etc. It's your responsibility, not mine.

Insane Volume Boost
As the name suggests, this extra little mod (to the same file) will increase the volume even higher. Seriously high. I wouldn't recommend doing this as it distorts to hell and will most likely damage the speaker in the long run.
For those of you crazy enough to give this a go, here are the instructions:
1) Take the 'default_gain.conf' file (attached to the first post)
2) Search for the following section:
Code:
Modifier "Normal" {
Supported Device {
"Speaker"
}
Enable {...
and then look for
Code:
{ "AIF1 Boost Volume",
Change the value after that to whatever you want. The highest I've dared to go is 55. 55 is PLENTY loud enough, but you can probably go higher.
DISCLAIMER
The volume is getting absolutely ridiculous now. Be seriously careful if you decide to do this because it can go insanely loud and will most probably damage your speaker. You have been warned!!
Enjoy
"THIS MOD WILL MAKE THE PHONE'S SPEAKER AS LOUD AS THE OS ALLOWS. ANY LOUDER AND THE AUDIO BREAKS! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!"
Can you clarify this please. Do you mean that you have cranked the values up as high as sound quality allows??

I've turned it up as loud as the phone will allow. It's currently set to '63' but setting it to '64' breaks the audio so you end up with no sound until you change it back. It doesn't seem to distort that much either; the SGS3's speaker is surprisingly good!
Okay, I'll be the first to try it out...reporting back in a min

Probably just me but I didn't notice any difference except that MAYBE the drop effect during unlock was louder

Aokp is no Samsung rom, so it can't be there. But probably the kernel supports the file as cm9 kernel is based on Samsung open source code. However if it is a proprietary module that reads the file that is not in the rom, then there is no way.

You don't have to modify anything, just download the attached zip, move the 'default_gain.conf' file to your phone and use root explorer or something to put it in the 'system/etc' folder. Or you can just "adb push C:/link/to/default_gain.conf' system/etc".
Much quicker and easier than flashing a zip
Nice!
I'm using Omega;s AOKP & it works great. Had to move the 2 files to /system/etc is instructed from the OP.
TYVM!
I nearly went deaf after starting ME, had to lower the volume down. I can tell the big difference with this mod, no more blasting the volume at max to be able to hear anything.
Stock headphones .
4 ok. 5 bit to loud. 6 far to loud.
This mod.
1 ok. 2 loud. 3 to loud. 4 no way.
Problem is constant background hiss .
Think I will lower the numbers s bit in the file and see the result.

[Q] low notifications volume

i don't know where to put this question, i hope this is the right place
situation is like this, when i got sms, or any kind of notification, my notification ringtone is not in the level i set it in settings
in settings volume for notifications is bumped to max, but when i get something, ringtone is in like half of the volume, while ringtones for calls are normal and loud, and have no lower volume from what i set it to in settings
is there some fix for that or is that bug in all 4.3 based roms, it's quite annoying when i get an sms but can't hear phone if i left it in another room or few feet from me when watching tv, i had that situation with stock cm kernels and custom ones
i am using vanir rom 4.3 now , and used before that slimbeam 4.3, cm 10.2 nightly, and cm 10.2 arararagi customised, on all of them notification volume is lover

as far as I'm aware it writes to the system and then reboots, so if you uninstall after it'll just remove the app which then just acts like a headset notification app (little beats symbol appears when plugged in)
so if you don't want that removing should be fine. but obviously every time you update the rom you need to re install regardless

also, i noticed only certain apps are causing the notification delay. the system(unplug/plug in charger0, facebook. while some others worked fine(whatsapp doesn't cause any delay, at all). we should list down all the events and apps that causes the delay together with a logcat if possible to track down the real problem.
