If its true, WOOOO!! I have been sending official requests to them, using the GPL licence for the basis of my request (pointing out that not publishing the source code for the already shipping compiled code, was a GPL violation, and violation of the Legal contract on their page...).. i would love to think all of our prodding would make it happen faster...
I checked, and the code listed here IS the new source code. I dont know if i helped, but i am glad it did not take the weeks predicted...

If by "fix" you mean use the fix after it's added to CM7, then yeah.
which kind of improvements and/or new functionalities could we expect from this source? I saw on development thread that dalingrin starded working on this, but at the moment the ROM is really unusable... how will this merged into CM7?
Thanks to all s here at xda!

So I guess Htc/VZ decided to release the source: http://member.america.htc.com/download/RomCode/Source_and_Binaries/incrediblec_cc1c2268.tar.bz2
good luck.

We have been down this road before with several other devices...
HTC has ALWAYS released the source code....within a few months or so.
You can email all you want, but your going to get generic responses, and its going to be released anyways.
The phone is only available for pre-order and its not even the 29th yet...so give them sometime.
Cheers!
Will having the kernel source for the Incredible make rooting the device easier because of the potential for "work arounds".
From what Paul is saying over at Modaco, it seems HTC is going out of their way to make the Desire and Incredible "more secure"... which means locking down bootloader, kernel, etc. More of a pain for rooting... agh!

Glad to see you getting involved...
We blasted HTC before with thousands of emails, and even got News sources involved, but since all that they have always released the source codes within a few months or so.
Cheers!
Droid Eris was released on 11/6/09; kernel source code is still not released.

LOL...good job catching yourself
My my I think it worked. Congrats!!
Its a marketing strategy because they know people are going to mod it anyway, so this way if people mod it, they are more inclined to stay with the device and HTC.

So, looks like someone got hold of the kernel for the Adam from NI, post from NIH's blog:
I like it when members are kind and willing to share…
Zero,
I’m a registered member of the Notion Ink Hacks community and a developer myself. I sometimes hang out in the IRC and watch Roebeet, Rothnic, Rayman, DJ_Steve, Dougie and yourself work on various projects and find myself astounded by the talent. One of the things that I would like to do as a token of my appreciation is leak the Kernel source and some additional goodies to you and the entire Notion Ink Community. You all have waited far too long for this.

That zip is 512 megs... kinda big for kernel sources... maybe they forgot to "make clean" before zipping? Or is there other source in there besides the kernel?
Also, shame this has to "leak"... hopefully there will be a proper Notion Ink source drop (in compliance with the GPL) when the code is more mature?

It's a GIT repository, so that why it's so big.
This kernel source take only 80 megs.

Yeah, NI aren't actually complying with the GPL by not releasing it at the moment so it's a shame this hasn't come through official channels.

Good riddance to the bugger. Takes all of 5 minutes to start uploading a tar file with the sources.
Seeing as how the previous thread for cm was closed due to peoples *****ing. Thought i would start another that might actually be helpful.
First, I am not a good dev. And currently on the road so unable to assist until august. I want to thank faux123 as he seem to be our best bet so far.

well i will help where i can, currently i do not have a ton of time for atrix but, I probably can work a little each day, I ran the extract-files.sh and through up the build files and gave it a make just to get an idea of where its at... we should compile a list of things that need to be done so we can work and check things off as we go , like I said though thanks everyone for the start ... your much further than I was *I am more on the AOSP route but hay it all works the same

I'm getting:
Code:
make: *** No rule to make target 'vendor//olympus/proprietary/lib/libaudio.so', needed by 'out/target/product/olympus/obj/lib/libaudio.so'. Stop.
I'm stumped... though I'm tired. It's probably something blatantly obvious.

Not updated
4.5.7 might not have required kernel changes...
---------- Post added at 08:06 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:03 AM ----------
Also the owner of the kernel has a few days to post it.. Usually after the update has completely rolled out.
Two things.
First might want to have a look at what Linus has said before about it, before he hurts your feelings.
Second. Good luck really doing anything. As OnePlus is out of China nothing anyone can do will make a difference.
I am not saying it is right, just giving you a heads up.

I was told by a kernel developer the company/person has 30 days from the full roll out of the update to update the kernel source. I think you need to learn about GPL licensing. One+ has done a great job at releasing source even though some commits are squashed together.

He is wrong. The gpl doesn't allow for any lapse between release and source posting. It has to be made available the same time the kernel is released. As we know not everyone follows it.

The GPL license does not have a specified time for release. The most common interpretation is immediately but that is not explicitly stated anywhere. So my answer is still correct. Also my friend works for an OEM.

Saying he works for an oem doesn't mean a lot. Many oem violate the gpl every day.
It is stated that it has to be made available upon request. Which means at any time after the kernel is released. Doesn't matter if it is 30 days or 30 seconds. It has to be made available.
