What happened to it in the app store? I saw it on there one day with two bad reviews and now it's gone. Do they take reviews seriously or possibly a fix was needed?

Reguardless of what they say, it WILL NOT work on your G-Tab. I'm in the process of working with their customer support over the issue it requires a IMEI number on your tablet (wich the G-tab does not have). Save your money!!!
I've actually tried it on several of the roms here and none of them seem to work with it. I'll update everyone when and IF they get this resolved for me.
I bought the USA only version from the market and it wouldn't download the maps. I emailed support and they sent me a link to the 1.13Gb file. Took 5.5 hours to download. It is working great for me, though. I'm on Vegan 5.1.1. They send the actual key a few days later. That activates it. When you first buy it I think it is only good for 15 days, until activated.
Working great on my gtab. Using the newest version from the market place.
I guess it's a hit or miss. I purchased the US version from the app store and it will not go past the check for an IMEI number. Their customer support has proven useless as they first told me they had escallated my problem to their engineering dept. and now I see they have marked my problem as SOLVED with no communcaiton to me at all.
copilot runs great on my GTab. I started with an older version and upgraded, so maybe thats the difference, but it runs no problems. I know me saying that doesn't help at all, in fact its probably a bit of salt in the wound as it were, but it may help to know it is possible.

Glad it runs for you... actually, you've been a LOT more help than their tech support. They keep saying, uninstall the program, delete the copilot folder on the sdcard and then reinstall. Same results everytime.

I was wondering if you could post your DeviceInfo.xml file from the \copilot\save folder? Their tech support keeps asking me for mine and I've sent it to them twice. I'd like to compare mine to yours to see where they are differnt. Or, if you'd rather not post it, could you look at it and see what it has for the Isphone and IMEI settings (<Isphone> and <IMEI>)? I'd really appreciate it.

Have they not given you a license key? While I bought my CO-Pilot a long time ago, from the website, and not the market, I understood that even market purchases resulted in a license key being e-mailed to you??
Once you have that key, you can use the .504 version.

Here is the discussion I've had with them concerning the product key:
Me:
Here is an update. I was able to get a previous version of the software. It is version 8.2.0.504. It installed fine and got past the IMEI error. Howerver, it is asking for a product number and I cannot find any reference to a product number on my receipt from the app market. Can you tell me where to find this? I'll be happy to use this earlier version if we can make it work.
CS:
Unfortunately, since you were never able to activate the device we never issued you a product key. And I can not give you one cause you purchased it through the Android Marketplace. I am very sorry.
Me:
When can I expect to hear of a solution to fix the copy I did buy then? I really want the software but if you cannot get it to work on my device, what are my options? Is there a way to purchase this outside of the app market so that I can get a working product id code?
CS:
You can purchase the $19.99 Northa America version from our webstore but I would hate for you to buy that and still have the same problems. We will get back to you as soon as we can about this issue. We appreciate your patience.
Little do they know that my patience is wearing thin!!!!
'Wearing' thin... I would have long since been 'worn'
I am guessing from their reply, that the activation process is what generates the key?
Here is an idea. Do you have access to another Android device (phone?) that you can install/activate the app on? If that generates your key, you can then de-activate that device (important step!) and then run .504 on the tablet.
While I did not do this intentionally, that's basically how it worked for me.
I purchased Co-Pilot 8 in late 2009 I think (maybe 2010), from their web-site for Windows Mobile. I later ditched WinMo for the Droid X. I de-activated my WinMoDevice, installed the Co-pilot app on my DX and activated it there.
Later, when I got the Tablet, I de-activated the DX license, and setup on the G-Tab.
Other than the most recent versions giving me IMEI errors, I've not had any trouble installing with my key.

Yes, I guess you have to actually activate the software on your tablet before you get your Product ID. So, I'm in that Catch 22 loop. Unfortunately I don't have an android phone. Windows Phone 7 here. I guess I'll wait to see if they can get me an answer. I'm planning on picking up a Transformer as soon as they come back in stock so maybe it will work on it.

market...not working for me.
Initially, I downloaded and installed pacman and shop savvy. After the upgrade came through which put me at RC28, the market doesn't seem to work properly. When I click on the app I want, it looks as if the download is happening, but when I check download notifications, it says download unsuccessful. I've tried this on several apps...all have failed.
Heads Up - Market
In case you haven't looked lately, there are a dozen or so new apps today
and still nothing worth downloading
I second that. I am about to put the g1 up until something worth a sh*t comes out. But that's just me.
when did u get the update and did u have a choice to update or did it do it automatically,i'm just curious cuz i haven't got it yet
Did you try the download with 3G on??
If not, try it with 3G
We needed a new thread for this info?
The following morning after I got the phone.....there was a window after the unlock sequence. There did not appear to be an option, it just executed the update. I've tried both wifi and 3g....both don't work.
I noticed that I am having issues with some applications in the market. They will fail... I kept redownloading them till they finally came thru.
I haven't got the update yet. I think this is just because the market is getting soo many new applications and such it probably is having hard times with it all.

I read by Nov. 2nd it getting out there, hang in there.
As long as the software states that its a trial in the listing I dont have a problem with it. Someone will write a free version at some point. I would want to be paid for my work too
Most of the apps aren't trials, and the ones that I've seen that are thus far are clearly marked.
I don't mind, since it's not some large majority of applications that are timebombed or limited trials. You would expect some people to not want to give away their stuff, and there's not a huge flow of apps just yet.
Like all open source, I'm very enthusiastic to see what the market produces in the free category - I'm sure it's going to be impressive.
I don't know if the location of were I am located in the US but the I downloaded the widely talked about SHOPSAVVY application and doesn't seem to work well. Sure its free but it doesn't give me the nearest stores and only one or two online suggestions. WEAK SAUCE in my oppinion. I also saw and downloaded (by accident) trialware which I too believe should be in a different catagory. There were not a big selection of apps that were worth my time. Dissappointed
funny you say that because I always have my GPS on and I did it while I was outside. OH'well

This is ridiculous and I dont know who to contact to fix this. All these (****ty) apps are popping up in the app store as free, but really are trials, or even ADVERTISEMENTS for the actual product you must buy. I hope who ever is running the app store fixes this. Im disappointed because they said the apps would be free until next year but developers are making their own way around this rule to charge users for their ****ty apps.
This is one of the reasons i miss my windows mobile phone so much, because of all the excellent developers who created software for free, and diddnt try to make a pretty penny.

Its BETA so developers are going to put out BETA apps for people to test then they will charge for the final product. If you don't want to pay for apps then don't. Stop *****ing the damn phone/OS just came out. There will be free apps eventually, you can't even compare to Windows(WHICH HAS BEEN OUT FOR A LOT LONGER).
I understand your anger. Trial versions in my world ARE NOT FREEWARES! It's called SHAREWARE and are completely another kind ob beast. I'm REALLY PICKY at what I'm adding to our directory of free Android software and there is no chance for a trial, shareware or a demo to get inside. I'm myself sick of all these "smart promotion strategies" by developers and I hope Googlers at Android Market will sort this out soon (but I fear they won't interfere too much). Let's see!
On the Nexus One, when I go to my university's website (pipeline.wayne.edu), and enter in my credentials, I get an error which says:
uPortal Error
Sorry, but uPortal encountered and error that is preventing it from rendering. The error must be corrected by system administrators. Try again later.
I looked this problem up but it seems not many people have come across a website which gives them this error, so no solutions have been found.
But most troubling of all is that all of the discussions and threads I found on this seem to show that the people who had access to other phones (G1, MyTouch, iPhone), were able to access the websites without problems that were giving them the uPortal error on the Nexus One.
I don't think google is going to even bother looking into this problem, so I'm hoping that a dev can figure out what the issue is. Anybody find any solutions to this or encounter this problem?
I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you haven't contacted your universities' system administrator.
Do that first.

You're missing the point here. The university and Google themselves aren't going to worry about 1 or 2 people out of 40000 who can't access the website on their smartphone. They're going to say "So what's the problem?....oh, you're trying to access our website on your phone?? well, just try it on a computer." And that would be the end of that, it wouldn't solve anything.
The point is that the G1, MyTouch, the iPhone even can open pages that give the Nexus One this error.

The point is that your university knows what configuration your phone needs to be in for it to work with it's own network.
(I couldn't get on my school's network because I had neglected to set up a specific setting)
You school's tech support is there for a reason. Believe it or not these cool little smartphone devices are really common, and your school has staff to deal with these things.
Good luck, I've been complaining about this for months. Nobody cares. And yea the nexus is the only phone with the problem so google should address it. If a website works on my old ass g1 it damn sure ought to work on my nexus. I'm not interested in contacting my schools support, I shouldn't have to. The answer to problems with phones should only rarely be "fix it your self" but around here that's like the only acceptable answer. I love android but its ok for consumers to demand things. That's just the seller/consumer dynamic. Its not a bad thing.
Why are you people afraid to get in touch with IT?

Well firstly no need to say "you people" you racist (kidding). But I took your advice and contacted my school's IT department. They could care less if it's not on a Windows or Mac computer. So yeah...exactly what I predicted.
So we need a fix on the phone itself.
is there any website i can surf to right now to see the problem on my nexus one ?
The only website I know of is my university's website, on the page that is supposed to load after you log in. So I can't tell you any that will reproduce the problem. But if you look up "nexus one uportal", on google (without the quotes), you'll come up with a few results, and the people who are talking about it are usually trying to log into a website...and also they're having no problem doing it with other phones.
I'm reading through alot of the google searches and this apears, to me, to be an issue with webkit browser more than anything. You may see a surge in response soon as alot of phones are moving to 2.2 and newer webkits.
i found this entry pretty funny:
If I try to log into our portal from a phone running Android 2.1 or 2.2, I get an error:
uPortal Error
Sorry, but uPortal encountered an error that is preventing it from rendering. The error must be corrected by system administrators. Try again later
Being the portal administrator, I've tried contacting myself to correct it, but I'm stumped. A friend with version 1.6 of Android on his phone has no problem. I've tried switching the user agent, tried from a real phone and from the Android SDK's emulator, but no dice.
Sungard Support was kind enough to open a defect 1-COTA77 for me, but let me know not to expect much because it's not a supported browser.
Anyone have any ideas about what's causing the problem and what to do to fix it?

Yes, and skyfire. It doesn't work.
Hey, new to the forums here, but I've been having this problem for quite some time and it is quite annoying. I've found it works on Opera Mini, but no other browser. I've also been following this problem on Google's Nexus One forum. I hope Google will fix this issue because I really dislike using Opera!

Opera Mini won't work on a lot of sites.
I've found a temporary solution.
Fennec will open my school website which was giving me the uPortal error. So I hope this helps others.

Giving Fennec a try. Didn't realize how gigantic the file size is. I still don't feel like it is as smooth as the stock browser. Sticking with the normal browser for everything but the website.
Fennec was a nasty alpha that barely worked. There is a Firefox 4.0b1 out today for Android. It's still pretty massive but it's better than the Fennec build was.

On the plus side, Firefox has gotten smaller, and I have more memory onthis one lol

Has anyone given the AT&T apps a good try to see if any of them are good to keep?
I see instructions out there on how to wipe AT&T off of our phone, but haven't seen anybody comment on why they're wiping the apps off besides to "get rid of the AT&T apps".
I'm just wondering if there might not be one or two of the included apps that are actually worthwhile to keep.
I know one I won't be sorry to delete is the mobiTV one. I loaded it up to the welcome screen then had to step away for a couple minutes. When I came back it kindly told me my 2 minute trial was up... LOL nice! So yeah, unless it really is an incredible piece of software worth buying I'll be dumping that one at least.
Many if not all require additional fees and subscriptions, despite free alternatives.
For example, the AT&T navigator app is $10 a month, but Google Maps is free.
There's also the matter of principle... the fact that AT&T made them non-removable is a compelling reason to get rid of them.
The only at&t app worth using is the att my wireless app that you can down load from the market place. It lets you keep track of your minutes usage, data usage, and change your plan.

I agree. Funny thing is, that's the only app AT&T didn't preinstall on the phone IIRC. I guess they expect you to pay money for their crappy services by default (or by mistaken clicks), but don't want you to have a way to track it so easily.

This is a Samsung app. We'll get it in new ROMS.
Look at about 1:05 on this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3QwvMsBGjE
Yeah I have to say that music app is pretty nice.
Although I just installed one called "Moodagent" that is kind of neat. Haven't had a chance to fully explore it, but it appears to have quite a few features along with the main interface that's a bit gimicky, but cool. It has sliders that you adjust up or down (Sensual, Tender, Happy, Angry, Tempo) and it adjusts the playlist according to the levels you set. Probably old news to everyone else but interesting to me!
everything that is labeled att_nameofprogram is pretty much useless. the other programs like allshare or instant messaging may still be usefull.
Allshare
If you interest in using DLNA, the Allshare app may be a good one to keep. Although, I have one major problem with it: you can only add 1 song at a time to the Queue. What a pain.
But I haven't found any good alternatives yet.
I opened the 'Where' app, and (stupidly) breezed past some part about a monthly charge if I don't cancel. Has anyone else run into this? And if so, do you know how to cancel?
"Where" does AT&T get the idea they can charge for this?
You probably want to call AT&T ASAP to make sure you don't get charged for using the Where app. Also, stop using the included one and download the free one!
Funny story about the Where app:
I had a Nexus One and saw that Where was on a lot of "best app" lists for Android so I went to the market to get it. It was nowhere to be found. After a bit of research, I found some vague explanation about how AT&T had a deal with Where and that they blocked it. This really pissed me off since I paid full price for the N1 with no subsidy from AT&T -- how dare they block apps? Anyway, I found the APK online and installed it.
Later, I rooted my phone and installed the MarketAccess app. Now I could find Where in the Market and installed it from there -- still free of course. When I got the Captivate, the first thing I did was root it. When I saw that Where was pre-installed, I thought "great, now I don't have to jump through hoops to get it." Luckily I saw the warning about being charged, what, $2.99/month to use an app that is free for every user of every other Android phone? I promptly used Titanium Backup to remove the pre-installed version and then used MarketAccess to download the free version from the Market.
The point is that AT&T is really trying hard to charge extra for things that every other Android user gets for free (maps, navigation, Where, etc). Very frustrating. My employer pays for the service on my Captivate and I will be moving my wife's phone (that I pay for) to the Epic 4G at the end of this month after being an AT&T customer for 7 years.
What about AT&T Hot Spots?
I visit Starbucks frequently and occasionally McDonalds. Both offer free WiFi, but require you to check a box and click a button to agree to terms before using it. I know that's not a big deal, but it is a little bit of a hassle especially if I am not planning to use the browser anyway -- I just want to go straight into another app that uses WiFi.
Since I got the Captivate, I've noticed that as soon as I turn on WiFi while at either of these places, I get a notification that says "AT&T Hotspot Detected" or something like that and I am able to use WiFi without having to visit the agreement page in the browser.
Does anyone know whether this app is required for this detection and agreement bypass to function? I have thought about making a backup with Ti Backup, uninstalling, and testing it but am worried that it might not reinstall properly. Also, it might be handy for finding hotspots when traveling -- making it the only useful AT&T pre-installed app.
ATT wifi hotspot app seems to be useful to connect to Attwifi hotspots without having to manually agree to terms
does anyone have a copy of it ?

I have it and will try to make a backup and post it within the next couple of days. It might be Monday before I can do it, unless someone else beats me to the punch.
Update: I still have it on my phone, but it seems that Titaniun Backup only backs up the data, not the APK. I also tried Mybackup Pro with the same result. I currently have a Xoom Wi-fi being used here in the Caribbean (Netherlands Antilles) and the state of Android Market simply makes it unusable, even when using USA VPN Connection.
I did find a solution here in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1065698 (a combination of root + build.prop of a verizon xoom)
But what about using the Xoom without root? For the normal user. Let's say I decide I want to sell the Xoom, for a normal user it would appear to be simply unusable, unable to buy or download a good junk of apps. Without all this tinkering I would constantly get: "The requested app could not be found" or cannot be installed on your device to cannot be installed on your carrier. My country seems to be supported: http://www.google.com/support/androidmarket/developer/bin/answer.py?answer=138294 , but after asking some devs to enable an app in my market, most tell you that they made it available to ALL markets already. Especially this part I find particularly troubling as the devs clearly want to maximize their sales and make it available in as many countries as possible, yet for my country (and many others) where supposedly even paid apps are enabled, we cannot download/pay for them.
My question is basically isn't there an easy way around all of this, without root, basically in an out-of-box state? I guess this is also a cautionary tale that without all this tinkering/rooting....a wifi Xoom is pretty much usless in certain markets.
I Hear u on this! I Wrote to google asking about this situation, but havent got any replies yet!.
They have a form to contact them in the market help!.

THe list of countries we are given to deploy to as a dev is not exhaustive, if it's not in the list, there is nothing we can do about deploying there (as developers) it's up to google to sort out whatever problem it is thats keeps your country off the list.

According to the list my country falls in "Rest of the world" and has support for both free and paid apps. So I don't understand what's the problem.
Also as a dev, i think it's important for you guys, as I know many international users would like to buy certain apps, which is a huge untapped market, all potential sales going to waste.

yes, it's very true, so which country are you in? I don't know which list you are looking at, but I'm looking at the list that is presented to me when I upload an application for sale on the market, I have to select countries and prices, with, by default, every country is selected.
Im located in Netherlands Antilles (Not Netherlands) I'm looking at this list: http://www.google.com/support/androidmarket/developer/bin/answer.py?answer=138294

Well, I just checked the market dev account for hte company I work for and our product is currently available in Netherlands Antilles, tell me if you see anyhting on the market from "Zubadoo", if not, then it's a Google problem, because you are certainly listed in one of the countries that can purchase our products.

Yup, they allow me to purchase your content. But like you said, it's a problem with Google, especially when the dev has enabled the apps in all markets and the market allows for paid apps, yet you can't download or buy them. Very frustrating.

So are you saying that even though you can see our apps, and others, you can't download/buy them? Including ours that you can see?
Actually its not such a big issue. I bought a Xoom wifi from the US. I live in the UAE and initially I had the same issues though Market access worked fine. Now though after using the update and getting to 3.1 even that isn't needed my Xoom is recognized a Verizon Xoom (since I used the US wifi files).
PS: UAE isn't on any of the lists :0) there might not be an official solution but there sure is a work around.
Cheers.

Yours works, but in some cases of games like riptide it simply didnt allow it.
I had to root and do some stuff to allow it. Which means Google/Market has a few problems

How come your Xoom is seen as a verizon? Isn't it a WIFI unit? Did you do anything special?
Just used BRD's method and I am guessing those files were specifically for the Verizion wifi device.

Link? Does it require root?
Yes, even market access requires root.

The rest of world can do blood pressure stuff with the watch 4 & 5, but not the US. I hear it was a FDA regulations issue that was blocking things got sorted out. Any solid info or rumors on when an official release to make it work? I've seen a few hacks floating & at least 1 rumor after talking to a customer support person saying on official release was suppose to be in December. But as December is almost over that seems dubious. Not planning on fighting with side loading, rooting & what not for the time being, unless the BP stuff is a long ways off.
idk
https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-enable-ecg-blood-pressure-monitoring-samsung-galaxy-watch-4/ for reference on how to do it on the Watch4. I believe it works on the 5, but am not going to be fighting with it for a bit.
Yes, that reference should work on the W5...
Not one to install unknown software in fear of data stealing, trojans, viruses... I bit the bullet and installed this work around. It in fact works great. Did the calibration and pretty darn accurate. BP measurements was the main reason I bought this watch 5 and can finally use it.,

Just a slight clarification.. there is nothing unknown about the software you installed. That guy who wrote and supports it is well known. But it's nice that you reported that you got it working. I'm waiting on the watch now and will do the same as you did. I would like the reporting too.

I understand. But side loading apps can be risky, never as safe as getting it through the play store, but yea, some bad actors there too. Google tried to verify it on download but gave me a message file too large. Recently bought 2022 Turbotax which most vendors sell as downloads and yep, the vendor was pushing a copy with malware and bogus serial number. He was using a very larger retailor to offer from. Luckily I almost always first install to a sandbox to be safe, and test, and did, Just saying its getting nuts out there.

I hear that & I'm in the same boat. Use to root, run Cyanogen, mess with bootloaders & all the fun stuff for years. These days stock usually is good enough & auto-updating makes life so much easier & safer.
Still debating if I just wait for Samsung, or break down & side load semi-trusted molded stuff.

First, works great and well needed app on my wrist. As for loading an 'unknown' sourse, Dante63 has done so much to allow us, and he keep maintaining new releases. I have his 'unknown' source since early W4 days (and I had the watch from proably the day it was released). With github release, text install files, video, github, and support for the community for free, what exactly is he going to take from you exactly? If you have Tiktok I would be more worried.. and if you get the google time line as I do once a month, this is REALLY big brother style report.. So if you connect to the internet, you already gave up on privacy.. and they know everything about you already.

According to APK Mirror, the latest is Samsung Health Monitor 1.1.1.221 so I believe this is the latest you can ask for.
