I am trying to create a theme for my alma mater. I have it just about the way that I like it, however, I am having a bit of trouble with one thing. In the notification drop down where it says ongoing, notifications, and no notifications it is grey. I have editted ever png file that I could think it would be in the framework-res.apk file and I am not able to find what the source of this grey area is. I am attaching an image of what I am trying to change.
For background I am running CM6 RC3.
I was gonna post this in the Themes/Apps section, but I figured I'd try here first...
I know people have been doing mods of the notification bar though MetaMorph, which doesn't really work with the newest version(s) of SuperUser. So I'd just been editing files inside the framework-res.apk and pushing the modified file via ADB.
Does anybody know, aside from editing the images inside the /drawable-hdpi/ folder, what other tweaks/changes can be accomplished?
I've tweaked my battery gauge images, but what I would like to do is figure out how to ditch the clock in the notification bar, and/or tweak the AM/PM text so it's smaller, a la Android 2.2.
Plus, learning what can and can't be modified via the framework-res.apk would be cool too. Haha.
Thanks in advance y'all! And sorry for the lenghty post.
I am using the GalaxyS theme with Vegan 5.1 right now and for the most part I really like it, problem is the status icons are horrible. I tried pulling the green icons out of the GreenV2 theme and using ninjamorph to combine them with the GS theme. (I would just flash the GreenV2 theme, but I can't stand all the other green stuff in it) Anyway, whenever I push the framework back in with NM, I go into a bootloop.
Can anyone with experience with this stuff find it in their hearts to combine these two themes and create a flashable zip? All I want are the status icons and I can provide all the files needed since they don;t seem to be readily available on the forum anymore.

Has the Froyo status (notification?) bar with the Froyo stock icons
Does not have the notification pull-down toggles
Is compatible with 2.3.3 and/or 2.3.4 ROMs
That is otherwise stock-looking (non-Samsung) Android
Works with Serendipity 7
I've been looking for a theme like this, and I haven't been able to find one carrying these traits.
If there isn't, how would I go about putting one together, and is it possible to do it with the remnants of TouchWiz abound in the ROM?

That's a very niche, unpopular grouping of requests. I doubt you will find a theme like that. Here is how you can make one.
Start with a serendipity theme and edit the png files in the framework-res.apk. there is a tutorial in the theme section. To get the froyo icons find an old froyo theme, and pull them out. I think the toggles in the notification tray are hard baked into any samsung based rom. You can change the icons, but you cannot remove them.

Hi Everybody, This post is for two reasons:
I wanted to post all the mods / hacks that I've made for the Tiamat Moray Rom in one place, instead of on random comments.
I've made a theme for my Xoom, to remove the blue glow that exists on a lot of the stock Honeycomb elements in the main interface.
Here's what I've accomplished so far for the theme. Click on a picture to enlarge:
What I've Done:
replaced the back / home / multitask / options icons on the navigation bar, the Wifi / Battery icons in the notification area, and the Apps / + icons on the top right of the launcher, with the icons from the GalaxyTab 10.1 Touchwiz UX Theme. They are all very similar to the stock icons, but don't have a glow effect on them. (See pic #1).
changed the clock colour in the main navigation bar to a grey, to match the new navigation icons.
removed the blue glow & outlines from the popups around the notification area. Also, removed the transparency in these popups, and recoloured the top one a dark grey/black combo. (See pics #2 - normal, #3 - pressed, and #4 - quick settings).
removed the blue glow & outline from the program tiles in the multitasking popup. (See pic #5).
replaced the settings background, where there used to be a blue glow, with a single-colour image in dark grey (see pic #6). This also had the unintended but pleasant side effect of replacing the background on the browser bookmarks window (see pic #7) , and in some programs like File Manager HD (see pic #8). I guess they all use the same image that I changed in the framework-res.apk file.
replaced the calendar background, from white with the two blue glowing ellipses, to a subtle white to grey gradient. (See pic #9).
"solidified" the clock font on the quick settings menus and lockscreen, to remove the semi-transparent two-toned effect. (See pic #10)
removed the blue glow from the inactive tabs in the browser. (See pic #11)
Downloads (Themes for Tiamat Moray 2.2.2):
Here are CWM flashable zip files. They all edit the same files, so do NOT flash more than one of these at a time, expecting it to work.
Stock Battery and Wifi Icons - Replaces the custom Battery and Wifi icons in the Moray Rom, with stock honeycomb icons. This is 100% compatible with Moray as the System and Framework files were taken from Moray and the battery/wifi images were replaced. Nothing else has been edited, so your Xoom will still look 100% Honeycomb.
My Theme - This is my theme. If you do not want the clock font changed, open the zip file, and delete the system/fonts/ folder. Do not delete any of the apk files in any other folder.
Restore to Stock Tiamat Theme - This is a restore package, in case you want to go back to the stock Tiamat Moray theme. It contains original versions of the files I changed in my theme, so that you don't have to flash the entire Rom over again.
Downloads (Mods / Fixes / Other):
Here are CWM flashable zip files, that contain each of the Mods.
GMail fix - The GMail.apk file from the old Tiamat MantaRay rom. It fixes a force close problem that some users get when multiple GMail accounts are in use on Hammerhead 2.1 or Moray 2.2, it is unnecessary on Moray 2.2.1/2.2.2.
Alarm Clock fix - The DeskClock.apk file from the Asus Transformer. It fixes a force close problem that some users get when turning on an alarm via the check mark in Moray 2.2. As a bonus, it also installs a very minimalist date widget that you may choose to use, or not.
Arial Clock Fonts - Changes the clock font for the lockscreen / notification area / settings popup to an Arial font, similar to Touchwiz UX on the Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Blue Striped Wallpaper - The background wallpaper in the preview pics above.
I would like to give a huge thanks to Bazar6 over on Xoom Forums for his tutorial "How To Theme Your Xoom" - without it, I would not have been able to do any of this! I would also like to thank the Tiamat team for making such an awesome Rom!
Suggestions are always welcome. If you can think of any other changes I can make, let me know.
Thanks!
MasterSlacker.
i go to try it, looks good.
Nicely done. I was never fond of the blue glow.

Will these work with 2.2.1? Thought I would check first.

I did it based off of the 2.2 Rom. Give me a day or so, and I'll update it to 2.2.1 - I just need to figure out which of the files changed from 2.2 to 2.2.1, and I'll need to update my own Xoom to 2.2.1 as well
Cool! Will give it a test go. Without having a glow it looks like it might possibly sport a cleaner look than before with the glow. Let's see how I like it. I'm curretnyl using the Galaxy theme already so it should be just fine.
EDIT: I just installed the theme: It's not bad, so far I like it. I think I will keep it for now. Nice work so far.
Alright, updated the theme for Moray 2.2.1 - files in the first post.
Thanks so much. This link is now added to "my favorites"
Great work, thanks!
Edit: I cant add live wallpapers. Just me?

I use ADW, but cleared defualts and can't add them from Stock launcher either. I only flashed Arcterus kernel. And 2.2.1 first.
I do use Honeybar and virtual bar. And wallpaper wizardry
Wow. I was sold on the stargate theme but this is gorgeous. As I want 2.2.1 might use your theme with widgets etc from stargate so I get best of both ;-)

Glad you got it all working ... whatever you did
really nice work, MS, thanks for sharing your theme... had been using the ported touchwoz theme, but this is simpler and I like it better... tried replacing the clock fonts (renamed yours with .old and copied mine, based on ubuntu) and got thrown into a bootloop from which I couldn't recover without reflashing moray entirely - any ideas what might have caused that?

Thanks for the suggestion, but to be honest, half of that went right over my head. It's been so long since I was in the software development industry.
Right now, I've only been editing png images. I've tried editing XML files, but for the life of me I can't get it to work. So what I've done to make it easier for me in the future, is to have a directory tree of all my edited images, in each respective folder, of each apk file. That way, if and when you release a new rom, I can just open the apk files from the rom download, and copy my edited pngs directly into it.
Also, my "mods" aren't really modifications to the way the rom works - I just did some experimenting with alternate GMail and DeskClock apks, and the force closes that I got on Hammerhead and Moray 2.2 stopped.
I hope this makes sense. I definitely appreciate all the work that you and the rest of the Tiamat team have put into this amazing Rom for the Xoom!
Downloading now...Thanks
