For some reason mine won't sync? I can use the phone in USB mass storage mode, but if I just connect it to the PC and open PC Suite, it says "Connecting..." and, after a few seconds "Device is not responding".
I have the "USB Mass storage device only" option unchecked in the phone's settings.
I installed the USB drivers using the LG Mobile Support tool by entering the IMEI # of my phone. I tried reinstalling the drivers and reinstalling PC Suite but still nothing has changed.
Any ideas? I'm running Windows 7.
Try to unlock the screen of the phone and reconnet it again!
Check your devices info from the control panel and see if the device is recognized correctly (driver, status, etc..)

I see:
- LG Android Phone
- LG Android (Modem)
- LG Android (NMEA)
- LG Android (Serial)
- LGE P990 USB Device
In my device list. For what it's worth, I rooted the phone and I think it worked fine before I did so, because I remember getting it to work once when I first got the phone.
I'm also unable to update it using the Mobile Support tool, it gives me some kind of critical error and tells me to remove the battery and try again (which doesn't help).
´I have the "USB Mass storage device only" option unchecked in the phone's settings.´
PC Suite IV works well for me.
My settings:
USB Mass storage - off
USB debugging - on
Stay active - on
Others as usual...
rooted P990

Problem solved.
It's because I froze "LG PC Suite" using Bloat Freezer.
Related
Bought a LG P970 Optimus Black.
Installed LGMobile Support Tool into my
Windows 7 64bit.
Installed the LG 3.2.1 drivers using LGMobile Support Tool.
Then, I connected the phone to the computer.
Result of drivers installation:
LGE Android Platform Composite USB Device - Ready to use
LGE Android Platform USB Modem - Failed
LGE Mass Storage Device - Failed
LGE Android Platform USB GPS NMEA Port (COM6) - Ready to use
LGE Android Platform USB Serial Port (COM7) - Ready to use
I wasn't planning to use the phone as a modem, so that driver does not worry me, but the USB storage problem is annoying.
In the phone, it does look as it connected. It offers the option to activate USB storage on screen, and if I click on the button, it says it enabled it, but nothing happens in the computer side.
I tested to uninstall everything LGE from the computer and restart from scratch, but same problem.
Ideas?
Update:
The LGMobile Support Tool in Windows says the phone IS connected, and that the software in the phone is up to date.

No. Nothing at all.
In "Devices and Printers" I have:
Under Devices:
LG Android Phone
LG Android (Modem)
LG Android (Serial)
LG Android (NMEA)
Under Unspecified:
LGE Bluetooth TransPort (COM4)
LGE Virtual Modem
In the "Device Manager" I have 1 "USB Mass Storage Device", with a yellow warning sign.
Under its Properties, in Device Status, it says: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)
If I try to "Update Driver" Windows says that the right driver is already installed.
FIXED !!
Updated LG driver to 3.5.
Still didn't work.
Then, I turned off the phone.
Removed the battery.
Put the battery back.
Turned on the phone.
Connected it to USB.
This time the USB driver started ok, and when I activated the USB storage I was able to see the drive under "Computer" in Windows Explorer.
I had turned the phone off and on before, so I think removing the battery did something that simply turning off and on wouldn't do.

USB 3.0 External Storage Device driver not getting Installed- [Solved]
Issue: USB storage device is not working on my computer, be it a USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 it just doesn't install the driver for storage device and my USB mouse and webcam does work.Everytime I plug in a USB flash drive of USB 3.0 External hard drive it beeps and gives error message that the device driver could not be installed.
Here is the steps I took to troubleshoot this issue and it got fixed.
1.Open registry by going to Run-> Type Regedit.
and Navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{36FC9E60-C465-11CF-8056-444553540000}
Highlight this key ({36FC9E60-C465-11CF-8056-444553540000} ), on the right pane, and then check if “Upperfilters” and “Lowerfilters” value are present. If so, please right click on the values and select "Delete" to remove them.
2. Now go to "C:\windows\inf" folder and check if these three files USBSTOR.SYS, usbstor.inf and usbstor.pnf are available. If it was renamed change the name as I wrote them or if they are not available copy them from "C:\windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\usbstor.inf_x86_neutral_83027f5d5b2468d3"
And then go to "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Drivers" and make sure you have USBSTOR.SYS and usbd.sys available if not copy them again from
"C:\windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\usbstor.inf_x86_neutral_83027f5d5b2468d3"
and paste it to Drivers folder.
3. Open Registry editor by going to Run-> typing Regedit and Navigate to the following key:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBSTOR" and ensure that the Start value is 3. and restart the system.
It will work..
thx

hi, when Rocket Rom 7 (ics) came out, i installed it. after doing this, when i connected my phone to the pc, the system detects the phone as Samsung_android and shows 2 removable drives in the system. however, if you click on them they dont work
it no longer detects my phone as GT-N7000
what i have noticed: when i connect the usb cable, the phone doesnt show "MTP connection" anymore... instead, it shows USB connected.
what has been done:
flashed rocket rom 10, nogo
reinstalled kies: nogo
reinstalled win7 (yes i actually did that even tho testing on other pcs showed the same issue)
the phone still charges and the only way i can connect my phone to d pc to view files is by clicking "usb storage"
any advice on this?
Uninstall kies, and just install driver (find latest from toolbox on my signature)
use different USB port, and dont use any extensor cable to connect device.

hi bro... didnt work... i dont think its the driver... its the phone... coz i tested another note, its working fine
My Galaxy Tab has similar issues. I believe it would be due to the architechture of the ROM forcing you to have to mount your device to your computer before being able to load the Device Internal SD, and the External SD.
Click USB Storage when it shows, this should pop up a window which has a Lil android dude, and USB Storage Message with a button stating 'Turn on USB Storage'. After clicking it, you can click 'Turn Off USB Storage' to unmount the device.
thanx for that.. hehe.. i stumbled across it the other day.. at least i can transfer files... but just dont like the fact its not showing...
I have this strange problem:
when I connect my Samsung Galaxy S Advance to my PC, the phone is recognized and I can start downloading my pictures, but, after a while, the download is interrupted and phone is not recognized any more...
Symptoms:
- Phone detected at first time is not detected any more after a while.
- After detection failure, if I try to browse my phone content, either in phone or SD card memory, Windows Explorer freezes.
Tried solutions:
- I've tried disabling and enabling all Developer Options on my phone, but the problem persists.
- Also, I've noticed that, while my phone is connected and recognized by Windows, the command
Code:
adb devices
returns an empty list of devices.
These are my system characteristics:
Phone specs
- Model code: GT-I9070
- Android Version: 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean)
- Baseband: I9070XXLQE (Germany)
- Kernel: 3.0.31-1122398 [email protected] #2 SMP PREEMPT Tue Apr 9 14:55:54 KST 2013
- Version build: JZO54K.I9070XXLQE
- Root: NO
- SD Card: 8GB working and recognized
PC specs
- OS: Windows 7 64-bit
- Installed Software: Samsung Kies, SDK
What can I do?
Thank you very much!
Try reinstall the Kies driver...

i'm not an expert but i would try disabling samsung kies, reinstalling samsung drivers, then plugging cable in different usb port, also could be faulty cable, dirty connectors @ phone, firewall... :fingers-crossed:

I have the same problem, the connection is lost when you turn off the screen.
Now I can't even connect the phone to the PC, it is not recognized...

If you have wi-fi use samba filesharing.
The problem is with your usb cable-usb port-windows
Control panel -device manager -print screen with universal serial bus controllers

Unfortunately I don't have Wi-Fi.
Yes, the problem must be with my USB cable, port or Windows.
I attach the screen-shots of the device manager.

Yes, I've tried to turn on USB debugging but this PC doesn't even recognize the device... I've tried to install drivers from the device manager, without success.
On other PCs I have no problems.

Unfortunately, reinstalling Windows on this PC is not an option.
I've tried to change USB port and the automatic driver installation gave the attached result: a partial error... still no recognition as MTP USB device
I cannot see the phone content in Windows Explorer... I don't know what I can do with the successfully installed device "SAMSUNG Android ADB Interface"...
I attach some more screen-shots of the connected and partially recognized Android device properties...
It seems that the modem function of the phone has been recognized by Windows, but I just need the USB storage feature!

Thank You for your reply in that other topic. Now to this matter.
1. What option did you choose under lock screen? Swipe or None?
2. Even I have faced the problem and the solution i found was simple. This happens when our phone goes into deep sleep and to bring the files back you just need to unlock the phone. Just press the unlock or homescreen button and windows will start recognising the phone again.

Hi,
1. None.
2. The screen is always on, Windows loses the connection without apparent reason in the first minute or so of connection. Now is even worse, I've just connected the device and I can't explore the phone folders because Windows just stopped recognizing the phone...
This is what I see in Windows Explorer after connecting the phone: Windows seems to lose connection to it, failing to find files and folders...

This is good and works for re-establishing the connection when it is lost.
I'll tell you if this is the final solution or if the problem keeps showing up after a while.

Did you scan your pc for a virus? If it works on other PC, then obviously it is a problem with the one you use.

My S Advance I-9070 recently got formatted. I was able to recover my installed Apps, photos, music via gmail account. However Contacts which were on the phone, couldn't get restored. Since i have a contacts.spb recent copy, on my PC, tried to connect S Advance to this PC and it is not getting detected as additional device. The Samsung Kies software also doesn't recoganize the phone. Except that the phone battery gets charged when connected. I tried different cables and PCs, and took to a service center, this phone didn't get recognised. I have backed up all data to SD card on the phone. Is this a new issue with S Advance ?
Please help.

Try this one
This is when your Samsung not popup usb notifier at phone upper menu bar.
Resolution
1. Unplug the USB cable
2. On the cell phone, dial the following number: *#7284#
Once the last # is hit, the PhoneUtil application is launched. Choose USB -> Modem and then USB -> PDA mode.
The good mode should be PDA. Even if the mode is PDA, switch to Modem and then back to PDA.
3. Plug the USB cable.
Try settings-more settings under wireless and network. There are 2 to try. Usb utilities if that does not work. Try turning kies on or off on the phone. No idea why but kies on the phone does it on both computers I use with my 9070. Drivers can be a real pain for this too. When i upgraded to LQG I had to update the drivers too, but that could be my computer too.
Hello.
Sorry for my English first of all.
I have JB 4.1.2 v20b EUR.
I have already rooted this phone, so I wanted to go ahead and unlock the bootloader but I am doing something wrong probably,
because when checking by the command "adb devices" the list is empty.
Already I have done:
1. Installed in my PC - LG PC suite.
2. I think I installed some drivers - adb, fastboot etc. - from here
3. On phone i turned on usb debbuging.
The problem is - when in settings on my phone -> Connection to PC -> Type of connection (IDK how it's called in Your language but I will translate it as: ) LG Software is choosen, and after connecting to PC,
phone starts to loop on connecting as usb debugging and as to Software LG...
What I have done/doing wrong?
P.s. Later I will upload some pictures and vid.

Maybe you should comnect as a MTP device. If this doesn't work go into the startmenu on your computer -> right click on computer -> manage -> device manager on the left side. If there are any devices marked with a yellow triangle it is a driver problem.
