[Q] USB Mass Storage Device driver failed - LG Optimus Black

Bought a LG P970 Optimus Black.
Installed LGMobile Support Tool into my
Windows 7 64bit.
Installed the LG 3.2.1 drivers using LGMobile Support Tool.
Then, I connected the phone to the computer.
Result of drivers installation:
LGE Android Platform Composite USB Device - Ready to use
LGE Android Platform USB Modem - Failed
LGE Mass Storage Device - Failed
LGE Android Platform USB GPS NMEA Port (COM6) - Ready to use
LGE Android Platform USB Serial Port (COM7) - Ready to use
I wasn't planning to use the phone as a modem, so that driver does not worry me, but the USB storage problem is annoying.
In the phone, it does look as it connected. It offers the option to activate USB storage on screen, and if I click on the button, it says it enabled it, but nothing happens in the computer side.
I tested to uninstall everything LGE from the computer and restart from scratch, but same problem.
Ideas?
Update:
The LGMobile Support Tool in Windows says the phone IS connected, and that the software in the phone is up to date.

No. Nothing at all.
In "Devices and Printers" I have:
Under Devices:
LG Android Phone
LG Android (Modem)
LG Android (Serial)
LG Android (NMEA)
Under Unspecified:
LGE Bluetooth TransPort (COM4)
LGE Virtual Modem
In the "Device Manager" I have 1 "USB Mass Storage Device", with a yellow warning sign.
Under its Properties, in Device Status, it says: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)
If I try to "Update Driver" Windows says that the right driver is already installed.

FIXED !!
Updated LG driver to 3.5.
Still didn't work.
Then, I turned off the phone.
Removed the battery.
Put the battery back.
Turned on the phone.
Connected it to USB.
This time the USB driver started ok, and when I activated the USB storage I was able to see the drive under "Computer" in Windows Explorer.
I had turned the phone off and on before, so I think removing the battery did something that simply turning off and on wouldn't do.

USB 3.0 External Storage Device driver not getting Installed- [Solved]
Issue: USB storage device is not working on my computer, be it a USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 it just doesn't install the driver for storage device and my USB mouse and webcam does work.Everytime I plug in a USB flash drive of USB 3.0 External hard drive it beeps and gives error message that the device driver could not be installed.
Here is the steps I took to troubleshoot this issue and it got fixed.
1.Open registry by going to Run-> Type Regedit.
and Navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{36FC9E60-C465-11CF-8056-444553540000}
Highlight this key ({36FC9E60-C465-11CF-8056-444553540000} ), on the right pane, and then check if “Upperfilters” and “Lowerfilters” value are present. If so, please right click on the values and select "Delete" to remove them.
2. Now go to "C:\windows\inf" folder and check if these three files USBSTOR.SYS, usbstor.inf and usbstor.pnf are available. If it was renamed change the name as I wrote them or if they are not available copy them from "C:\windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\usbstor.inf_x86_neutral_83027f5d5b2468d3"
And then go to "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Drivers" and make sure you have USBSTOR.SYS and usbd.sys available if not copy them again from
"C:\windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\usbstor.inf_x86_neutral_83027f5d5b2468d3"
and paste it to Drivers folder.
3. Open Registry editor by going to Run-> typing Regedit and Navigate to the following key:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBSTOR" and ensure that the Start value is 3. and restart the system.
It will work..

thx

USB Device not recognized

I've searched and tried everything I found but my phone just can't be read as a Mass Storage Device....which means I can't transfer any files.
When I plug the phone in the USB debugging icon shows up on the phone but the option to transfer files isn't there. And on the computer it says USB Device not recognized and it's listed as an Unknown Device.
What I've tried so far is uninstalling the driver completely and plugging the phone back in....some sort of software automatically installs itself whenever I do this. However it still doesn't fix the problem. Also, I've downloaded some drivers from the internet but when I try to "Install driver from specific location" and direct it to the folder, it says there was no updated drivers found.

Optimus 2x + PC Suite IV

For some reason mine won't sync? I can use the phone in USB mass storage mode, but if I just connect it to the PC and open PC Suite, it says "Connecting..." and, after a few seconds "Device is not responding".
I have the "USB Mass storage device only" option unchecked in the phone's settings.
I installed the USB drivers using the LG Mobile Support tool by entering the IMEI # of my phone. I tried reinstalling the drivers and reinstalling PC Suite but still nothing has changed.
Any ideas? I'm running Windows 7.
Try to unlock the screen of the phone and reconnet it again!
Check your devices info from the control panel and see if the device is recognized correctly (driver, status, etc..)

I see:
- LG Android Phone
- LG Android (Modem)
- LG Android (NMEA)
- LG Android (Serial)
- LGE P990 USB Device
In my device list. For what it's worth, I rooted the phone and I think it worked fine before I did so, because I remember getting it to work once when I first got the phone.
I'm also unable to update it using the Mobile Support tool, it gives me some kind of critical error and tells me to remove the battery and try again (which doesn't help).
´I have the "USB Mass storage device only" option unchecked in the phone's settings.´
PC Suite IV works well for me.
My settings:
USB Mass storage - off
USB debugging - on
Stay active - on
Others as usual...
rooted P990

[Q] USB Debugging/Mass Storage Mode connection to computer issue

Hello folks,
I'm facing this "please insert a disk" issue when connecting my Note to computer via USB Debugging mode / Mass Storage Mode.
I'll let screenshots in the attachment explain itself. #1 shows the screenshot of devices menu when the phone is plugged into the computer in DEBUG mode; #2 shows the screen after I've clicked "connect USB storage" from the drop-down list of the phone; #3 shows what happens when I try to open one of the two "removable disks".
MTP mode works fine, as well as Kies connection. As I finally started exploring the potential of Android platform, I realized that MTP and Kies connection are the most useless connection options for me, and I'd rather leave it in debug mode all day. So has anybody experienced this issue, or had any suggestion on the solution?
As always, many thanks in advance, and many thanks button clicks afterward!
p.s.,
Desktop OS: Win7 Pro X64 SP1
Note: 2.3.6 Stock LB1 Open Germany Firmware, CF rooted LB1 kernel.
Also, I should have all the latest official device driver from Samsung, as I have the latest version of Kies installed (and I discovered a driver folder under Kies' installed location). I'm not so sure about adb driver, but I was able to find the Note to be listed under devices by typing "adb devices". So.. I don't know where could've gone wrong.
Help anyone?
This really sounds weird... I was facing problems of the Galaxy Note not being detected on several Windows7 32/64-Bit SP1 computers as well but this was gone after I installed SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.
You are right - from all that i know all required drivers should be available when KIES is installed on your system. Whatis even more strange is that your device seems to be detected as two partitions are available and are displayed in Explorer...
So I would test the following:
- check if your device manager lists any unknown devices
- Uninstall KIES and try to find the SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones and install those
- check all available USB ports and see if this solves the problem
- try another USB cable
- make sure your (external) SD card is formatted with a Windows compatible file-system e.g. FAT32
Hope this is helpful and helps solving your problem.
Thanks for your reply!
My device manager basically listed all the drivers/devices associated with the phone:
My Device manager shows devices:
Samsung Android Composite ADB interface
Android UMS Composite USB device (x2)
SAMSUNG Android USB Modem
USB Mass Storage Device
USB Mass Storage Device (Android)
I've attached the screenshot when all the drivers being installed when the phone is firstly connected to the computer. Also in the device manager, everything shows "this device is working properly"
I then decided to test with another Note of my friend's (On the same computer). Her Note has no SD card in it, and is completely stock ROM non-rooted LA4 Open Germany firmware. The same thing happened.
One thing worth mentioning: Yesterday, this worked only for once. When I initially encountered this issue, I restarted my computer, and boom, my phone was connected in Debugging mode! However, once disconnected, and I tried to connect it to the computer again, this issue came back. And afterward, no matter how I restart my computer, the phone won't get connected.
I also tried all USB port (USB 2.0 and 3.0), three different cables (2 of them are Samsung OEMs) and failed to address the issue.
I'm nearly exhausted but I will never give up, as this is my only computer and my only phone (haha), and without solving this issue, I'm never gonna be able to view the phone as a USB storage and easily transfer the file from my computer to the phone.
I'm going to try the last thing that I haven't done from the list you posted:
- Uninstall KIES and try to find the SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones and install those
I believe that I can keep the driver folder in the Kies' folder, as I believe those are the newest Samsung driver, given that the Kies was the latest release version.
So far, I can only conclude that this issue is not related to specific phone but the Windows 7.
And thank you for your help btotaku!
If anyone has any insight into this issue, please help me. Thumbs up for you!
BTW, I was able to extract both SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe from under Kies' installation path under Program Files x86 folder, and an uncompressed folder of all kinds of drivers for Samsung device, called "USB Drivers".
And looks like I was wrong. The newest version of SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones I had was 1.4.8. While the driver that came with the newest Kies was 1.4.103
I'll post back soon
Reinstal Windows on your PC bro.
Problem fixed.
is that your internal memory or the sd card?
Same thing happens either with SD card in the phone or not

[Q]Does not show GT-N7000 when connected to pc

hi, when Rocket Rom 7 (ics) came out, i installed it. after doing this, when i connected my phone to the pc, the system detects the phone as Samsung_android and shows 2 removable drives in the system. however, if you click on them they dont work
it no longer detects my phone as GT-N7000
what i have noticed: when i connect the usb cable, the phone doesnt show "MTP connection" anymore... instead, it shows USB connected.
what has been done:
flashed rocket rom 10, nogo
reinstalled kies: nogo
reinstalled win7 (yes i actually did that even tho testing on other pcs showed the same issue)
the phone still charges and the only way i can connect my phone to d pc to view files is by clicking "usb storage"
any advice on this?
Uninstall kies, and just install driver (find latest from toolbox on my signature)
use different USB port, and dont use any extensor cable to connect device.

hi bro... didnt work... i dont think its the driver... its the phone... coz i tested another note, its working fine
My Galaxy Tab has similar issues. I believe it would be due to the architechture of the ROM forcing you to have to mount your device to your computer before being able to load the Device Internal SD, and the External SD.
Click USB Storage when it shows, this should pop up a window which has a Lil android dude, and USB Storage Message with a button stating 'Turn on USB Storage'. After clicking it, you can click 'Turn Off USB Storage' to unmount the device.
thanx for that.. hehe.. i stumbled across it the other day.. at least i can transfer files... but just dont like the fact its not showing...

Driver issue

Hi all,
First a quick info:
The Problem -- Nexus 6 internal storage doesn't show up when connecting to my main desktop computer.
I have had my Nexus 6 for almost a year now and since the beginning I couldn't make my main computer to recognize the phone's internal storage.
Whenever I connected the phone to another computer, the driver installed just fine and I was able to access the internal storage.
I previously had a first gen moto g and I thought the problem was because the moto g drivers were causing some mess with the Nexus so I uninstalled the old drivers and plugged my nexus so windows automatically downloaded what is shown as "Google Nexus ADB Interface" under Android device in Device manager.
I also have installed Android SDK tools in my PC since I had the Moto g and I cant remember how many times I have updated it. The Google driver is shown as installed.
The device is unlocked but not rooted.
Here comes the weird part... If I have USB debugging enabled then I can see the camera files in my PC when I choose PTP in USB configuration. However.. if I disable USB debugging then I can't even see the pictures.
I have tried selecting PTP and changing back to MTP as suggested in some threads with no luck.
I also tried turning the device off and then boot into fastboot, then plug the phone into the computer as this worked in some other computer.
This is driving me crazy, I know this is a computer related problem but I don't know what else to try.
Could you help me please?
Thanks

Install the Nexus Root Toolkit on your PC.
In a sub directory of that kit you will find several usb drivers. Do some trial and error with those drivers.

Hi, thanks for the reply,
I forgot to tell that I tried that one too.
I followed the driver installation guide step by step with no luck.
Tried the recommended solution at step 3 of the guide and since it didnt work then I tried the manual installation with a couple "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" devices that are shown under Other Devices in Device manager

Because it works on a different PC. I assumed a driver issue.
My Suggestion is to install the driver manually.
Open the device manager.
After connecting you must see a change in the device manager. If not change USB-port and/or cable. And change on the Nexus 6 the charging
mode to data mode.
When still no 'internal storage' back to device manager and update the driver by right clicking. Try automatic and search on my computer - navigate to the drivers in NRT.
