First u need a physical sdcard, not the internal sdcard.
If u have a physical sdcard and still cannot mount in recovery, perform the following workaround.
Workaround
1. Power off phone
2. Power up directly to recovery by pressing power button and volume down key.
3. You should now be able to mount sdcard
I've NEVER been able to mount my 16gig class10 card in Clockworkmod recovery, I just thought it was something wrong with the O2X version of Clockworkmod recovery. I have tried both Pauls and official. It makes no difference if I use the app to reboot to recovery or if I hold down power/Vol down.
I am not able to get into the reovery by holding the vol down and the power button it just stucks at Lg logo i have waited for 5 mins but nothing happned. I am able to get into the recovery via Rom manager but sdcard cannot be mounted. This is wierd.
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
have you guys formatted the SD cards before usage? I hear that helps in cases the phone does not recognize the card.
Solved I upgraded my phone with Lg update to V10c and pushed modaco recovery then rebooted to recovery via Rom Manager and I am backuping my system now. But I am still not able to go into the recovery by pressing the vol down and power button at the same time.

This is the CWM app. Just reboot into recovery and you can do a nandroid. Reboot into recovery or reboot your phone and hold down volume down + power + home buttons.

You would have to have somewhere to put the backup so definitely. I don't know why it wouldn't recognize either one.
I'm using TWRP on my captivate as a recovery, and while i was flashing my rom, I wiped everything, and didn't make a nandroid
Now my phone goes straight to TWRP and I can't boot to download mode to restore with Odin.. Any help would be appreciated
Mount USB in recovery and load a new package to flash. You cannot flash a stock image from recovery.

If you want recovery mode, do this:
1. Pull your battery
2. Put the battery in
3. Hold both the volume up and down buttons
4. Insert the USB
5. You are now in DL mode!

Unfortunately, my TWRP has problems with mounting, and my phone does not join in recovery mode... The only package I have in my internal SD is CM7 which I was trying to flash after using Team Nyx's ICS, but the problem is, when flashing, TWRP gets an error and my package will not flash (it's a mounting error with emmc). Also, I've tried about 4 different key combinations and can't get my phone into download mode, it just boots straight into recovery.
I guess there is no "reboot download" option under advanced like in cwm recovery. And i'm not sure if you could use ADB to reboot to download mode because of the ics.
Last resort, check my sig below if u r on a pc for links on how to make a Jig or where to buy one.

I'm a complete android noob, so I'm not sure how to use ADB on my pc to get my phone into download mode, and also, I no longer have an OS running on my phone, and I don't think you can reach ADB shell unless you have your phone in USB Debugging mode.
Anyone know how to get into recovery mode, seems there's no way to get in there. Tried vol-up Home & power button but nothing works.

Can you explain more details.
No adb-windows.exe this directory.
And what we do?
Read the build file damn.. we have full access to recovery .. on a powered on phone... forget the recovery ..
# Enable RecoverySystem to emit "factory-reset" reset string
# instead of "recovery" when doing a factory reset. This is

If you do the adb reboot recovery just once you should be able to boot into recovery by holding Power + Menu buttons.

Another method
1. Up the new rom that is rooted by odin. That's mean your phone has rooted
2. You install quick boot app from the market play. Then open quick boot and hit recovery

yeah, it also works with rom toolbox (-> rebooter -> reboot in recovery) and rom manager (-> reboot in recovery).

You need ROOT
Hi everybody,

Why would you want to flash another ROM if you already have the latest?
To "mount" the phone, you have to plug it to the PC without the battery and while pressing the Vol - key
I tried to install the custoNexus rom. For that (instructions) I have to wipe data and format system. So I tried this.
I used the lg recovery app, boot into recovery and wipe data, after that I tried to format system and get an error that the system couldn't be mounted.
Once again I'm sorry for my bad English

Turn off your phone, press and hold the VOL - key then turn on the phone while holding the key...
Once you see the LG logo and the phone vibrates, you can let go... it will enter the recovery mode... then you'll see tha "wipe data" option... select that with the power button... confirm once again and then reboot...

I don't know very well what you're trying to do but, if you're talking about reset the phone to factory settings just turn OFF the phone (with the battery), press "Vol-" +"Power button", you'll be in Android Recovery System".
Now select wipedata/ factory reset and hit power button, in the next menu select "yes" and hit power button again.
Wait untill you have the first menu and select reboot and hit power button.
If you're trying to install any rom from Dexter, pay attention to the tutorial. If you need ask him for help.

INSTRUCTIONs
Factory reset / WIPE before you install, as during installation of this ROM it will only install and clean system partition automatically. you are responsible for factory reset .
Alternatively - use original recovery where you factory reset as well. (VOL- + powerOn, remove usb cable, or you get to wrong menu)
Install the release using latest ClockWorkMod , using "install zip from external sdcard". this is a regular "update.zip" type of install.
This zip do not include the CWM installer i made, so install it seperately, but do NOT press install cwm, just use it to start recovery.
If you want some default apps removed, just delete those in the zip file. you find them these in the /system/app directory
Settings panel might be divided in 2 rows. If you like the old phone 1 row panel, enter ROM control -> General UI -> enable dual panel , and enable it. exit setting and reenter and unclick it. and you are done.

I have this common problem with the ace, low internal memory. Ive done all the system resets, app2sd, clear cache, uninstall stuff, move to sd etc Done it all and it won't sort out the problem. So after hours of googling, the solution appears to be rooting.
I have a 32gb sd card and want it filled with apps and games so im 90% sure on rooting. But how safe is it? how easy? does it work? someone said i can root my phone so my sd card can act as the internal memory. But if i do this, can i still eject my sd card, put it in my computer and take files off there? should i root? someone said there is a 1superclick to root and de root, anyone?
I know its a lot of questions but any help is great.
Thanks
For me rooting was easy, i used a different program, but the end result is the same. Yes there are scripts etc that will enable you to use a partition on the sd for apps. The main thing to remember is to back up your existing Rom just in case. If you look thru the forums here, there are tutorials on rooting and installing a custom recovery. Welcome to the forums

I rooted mine by flashing this file through the stock recovery.
I don't remember a lot about the stock recovery but if you can, before rooting, backup your ROM.
Download the above file and put it on the root of your SD card (ie. NOT in a folder)
Boot into recovery mode by powering off your device and then powering on holding power+home.
in recovery you can scroll through the options using your volume buttons and select an option by pressing the home button. pressing the power button will take you back a screen.
Choose apply update from sd card option
Scroll through until you find the AceGingerRoot.zip
Press the home button to apply the update.
Now when you reboot the system you should see an android pirate icon in your app drawer. This app should be called SuperUser.
From here on out, you can use app2sd scripts, unlock your phone if desired, change your recovery image (CWM 5 is recommended), play with custom ROMs, etc.
Be warned that your WARRANTY WILL BE VOIDED and that I TAKE ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE TO YOUR DEVICE (though if you follow the directions, nothing bad should happen.)
STAY AWAY FROM ROM MANAGER. IT KILLS ACES.
If AceGingerRoot.zip does not work, try this file instead: upd_1.zip
if that one fails use root.zip

Power on holding power and home buttons together.
When the Samsung logo appears, let go of power and continue holding home.
