Here is a Streak tilt-stand I found. - Streak 5 Accessories

How many times have you wanted your cell phone more visible on your desk instead of laying flat where you can't really see what is going on like incoming messages etc. Or to use as a clock or weather station? Check this out. You can make most phones work on this stand:
Since I can't find anything local made for this Dell Streak 5, here is a tilt-stand I found at the Barnes & Noble book store.
Perfect size for it with the gap for the cord at the bottom.
It is a stand for small paperback books. $13 Barnes & Noble.
Here is the info on getting yours:
Barnes & Noble sells our silver-black Bookhug™ in stores and online (look for a blue-silver box in stores).
We sell both our silver-black Bookhug , and our violet-plum Bookhug online at: www.bookhug.com , accepting payment by PayPal.
We're getting good feedback from customers who really like our Bookhug to hold their KINDLES and other eReaders, notebook computers, and more--even framed pictures. Some people put a small piece of craft foam to the inside of Bookhug's tabs to protect their 'electronics' (double-sided tape would hold the foam in place).

For those of you in Europe, you can order it here from Serious Readers:

When I see tilt stand I picture a tilting/rotating stand, that looks like a big business card stand. If thats what you need though, great find.

Actually, I didn't know the name of it as I threw the box away at the store.
It's fixed as you can see in the second picture. It is for a small paperback book to be hands free and hold the pages in place.
What made it perfect is it had the cutout needed for the USB cable.
I imagine you can find similar items at the bookstore.

I updated the first post with some new info

With minimal modification (routed streak charge cord, cut small hole, little glue.) I was able to make this type of PSP 1000 Dock into an ideal Streak Dock.
Just routed cord into side of base and cut a hole in bottom center of dock to route cord through, glued connector to it with superglue while it was in the streak (be careful) so it would be aligned properly, let it dry and this thing works perfectly.
This type of dock would work as just a holder without the modifications, but I wanted a charging dock.
20 min with a screwdriver and small drill was well worth it.

Doesn't do any good without actual pictures of the streak in it etc.
You know the cutting process, gluing with the streak in it, the final process.
I think you Hijacked my thread.
You should make separate post on your project, not use mine.

My apologies, I did not mean to offend or hijack your thread, I was just commenting on an alternative that I found that worked for me and was actually a response to eSZee's post above as it does tilt, but does not rotate.
I didn't post pics, etc. because I do not even consider it a "project", it's just a simple re-purpose of some junk I had laying around.
Again, my apologies for treading on your turf.

With an attitude like yours, how can I be mad?
My apology for jumping on you.

CaseLogic £5 - the perfect xda with ext battery case

Just found the perfect case (and its only £5.00) from Jessops! Its a soft zip up one, that is just the right size, not to big, not too small.
I hate cases that are "attached to the machine", and especially as both the xda standard case and the innopocket aluminium case dont accommodate the extended battery I've been looking for a case that zips up and has safe areas for memory cards as well.
The quest for a decent carry case criteria:
The theory was this, get a "soft case" that could;
a) withstand a drop from chest height (in theory)
b) and be easy to extricate the xda (in other words get it out!)
c) Comfortable when carrying "in your jeans pocket, or jacket.
d) Suitable for running the headphone/headset cable out of as well. Without compomising the case.
e) Stowing memory cards in without risk of them "dropping out"
f) Capable of taking an xda plus extended battery.
g) Suitable for zipping around the xda during non cradled charging.
After going in to buy a memory card, I asked Chris, the helful and excellent manager of the Jessops Tunbridge Wells branch if there was a suitable case I could use, having bought an excellent "Case Logic" one previously for my olympus 4040Z. He suggested this...

What is it - I hear you ask Its not a "real xda case"
I know! - I'm just fed up of the standard case etc. and those leather enclosing ones that make such a stylish machine look like a piece of 70s retro vinyl.
And best of all its cheap! And looks good.
Ok so its not got the tobacco tin styling of the innopocket one, but wow! how simple a solution to a problem can you get!
Its basically a "memory card case, its just the right size, and you can either completely zip it around the xda (enclosing the aerial) or zip it around so the aerial sticks out of the inner corner.
The loops inside dont "project" and are soft elasticated loops, which dont affect the capacity of the case.
The sprung netted pockets hold a mmc/sd card without risk of it coming loose inside the case when the case iz unzipped to get the xda out.
URL1
URL2
Its even good for leaving on a desk with the charger lead hanging out, as readers of my innopocket case review will remember I think charging it on a table with a lead dangling is dangerous for such a delicate device like "our preciousss"
Hope this helps people out... Its been perfect for my needs.
and does it fit in ur pocket? doesnt look like it unless your a greebo/bopper style person?
note point c)
Obviously if you have a pocket that will fit the xda "sans case" then it will fit. as I said it fits snugly, so is a similar size to the unit with the extended battery fitted. Dont go by the pictures, go to and try it out in a shop unless you're wearing tight "1970s style or 1980s" style jeans. The latter of course being stonewashed.
If being a greebo means wearing "black jeans" that arent drainpipe style or the ones above, then perhaps I'm one. Not sure about the bopping bit though!
Disclaimer:
All the above comments should be understandable by UK residents, who are between 25 and 40 years old. For these people, watch this thread and find out what a Greebo is... My guesses its not someone who has green antenna and threatens smugglers in bars.
Answering phone calls
Hi Derek,
Thanks for sharing with us the usefulness of this case. Just one question though- when a call arrives, is it quite a bit of a fumble to unzip the case quickly to answer the call?
I am still looking for a slim enough case that offers some protection and yet allows one to use the xda functionally without too much fuss. Anyone with other suggestions?
Thanks
V
takes about 5 seconds roughly... to get it out of your pocket, unzip it and answer the call. I just wanted something that would not let me worry about having the xda loose in a baggy pocket.
and take the battery, and not spoil the classy look of the xda in use, which the standard case and others do. imho.

Awesome Bike Mount

I love cycling, and hated that I couldn't combine the power of my Dell Streak with cycling. Until I found this bad boy. This thing works perfect, and is very secure.
I use Run Keeper to track my progress, and Ulysse Speedometer to track my speed, and the new Android Music app to listen to music. It makes for an awesome cycling experience. Who needs a wimpy bike computer, when you've got a Del Streak.
I'm a new user, so I can't post links, but if you go to amazon.co.uk and search for "ULTIMATEADDONS Bike, Bicycle, Motorbike Mount Kit and Holder for Dell Streak Mini 5 Smartphone" you can find it.
that looks awesome! I'd be extremely paranoid of it getting splashed or rained on though! :-\
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
The back cover covers most of the phone, and protects it. I also live in an area that doesn't rain very often, so I'm not too worried about that.
ultimate addons, = gpsforless, or my near neighbours.
I've heard of people breaking the mounts inside their car, so be careful..
I want a mount for mine for the inside of my velomobile, but haven't got around to it yet.
when I'm mtbing it lives in a rigid glasses case inisde my rucksack
sweet find, thanks dude!!
Seems to hold it nicely but very little protection for the Streak if your bike goes down.
Do u think I can set that up on my sportbike?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
If my bike goes down and damages my phone, I've got bigger problems than a broken phone. Also, this is more secure than putting in the back pocket of my jersey, which I was doing prior.
The mount fits on most handle bars, and says it will fit on motorcycles, but I guess it depends on the bike.
Looks great for casual riding but I wouldn't chance it if your a serious rider ie off roading. My bike usually end up covered in mud and occassionally flying through the air so I'd rather have it in my backpack covered in a waterproof bag for extra protection .

I want one but the mount holes look to me like they would be easily jarred loose over a bump. Is there more to it than this 3 holes, which look like something simply snaps into them?

Looks cool..
I used to ride on bikes in my previous country..

Yes, it slides down and snaps in and is very secure. I've hit some bumps with it and nothing happens. I have been very impressed with how well this thing holds up. Highly recommend for cycling.

Errr, so amazon.uk is the only place to get this?

I did not set out to prove how secure the mount is, but after today, I am very confident in how securely it holds my phone. I had a moderate crash today, and after I gathered myself, and assessed my injuries, my first thought was, is my phone ok? Sure enough, not a scratch on it. In fact, it continued playing my music as if nothing happened.
Any chance of a photo of the actual bike mount hardware? Does it swivel, or is it perma-landscape?
I have this on my bike:

and then I gorilla glued the Dell car mount to the diamond shaped bracket.

CAREfull all
Just to let you all know.. please be carefull with the mounts.
My bike-mount gave up last week! (while on a ride!)
I was doing like 60 kmph (40ish mph), and a very small undulation in the road.. and the mount (plasticy at the section where it broke off) just broke!
My Streaky was in a Silicone case - which I thank a lot (for taking good amount of impact on the corner- and some nasty skidding too!) saved the day for the phone.
Otherwise, It was a big FAIL for me!
The phone was saved!
I would suggest use some tape/glue ( just to make sure!)
(Fail section is just where the phone clamp part connects the Ball part. (that is plastic in all mounts, right? - that should be metal man!)
Thanks,
Sony.

Does *MY* perfect case exist?

I've seen this only once for the iPad, I've looked for something similar for various Android tablets with no luck. Here I am with my N7 hoping that such a thing may exist...
I know everyone wants to go slimmer, but for my ideal situation I would really like to find something that is more of a true "padfolio" style case.
Opened up on the inside left a pocket that holds a standard "small" legal pad, in the spine a spot for a pen, on the right a holder for the N7. I saw one for the ipad that held a full sized yellow legal pad at one point in time, but I don't know who made it. Sometimes notes on the N7 is just too slow and would be faster to just jot something down.
So has anyone ran across such a case? My searching has been unsuccessful so far. I don't care about standing it up or anything like that. A magnetic clasp and smart cover would be nice. If I can't find what I'm looking for, I'll probably just get the Blurex ultra-slim now that it is prime eligible.

You want something that will most definitely add bulk to the device lol, the direct opposite of what most people want.
The closest thing so far is this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Folio-PU-Le...?pt=US_Tablet_Accessories&hash=item3cc921a483
It has a pocket where you can put a small notepad in it if needed. Other than that no dice in my quick searches.
Well a legal pad is about the same thickness as the n7 so it would basically double the thickness. Yeah hat case is about as close as it gets, but I don't like how it holds the device. Sigh. Ohh well. Maybe someone will see this and think it's a good idea.
Not sure how the N7 compares to an iPad, but Booqpads are the type of thing you're looking for?

Yup that's exactly what I want only for the nexus 7 with a standard small legal pad. I have some ideas though...

There was a similar thread where someone found a case very similar to how you want. I'll try and find it out.

Sorry to bring this one up again.
I'm looking for exactly the same thing. A case like a booqpad for the iPad or something similar.
Are there, after nearly one year, any news? Does anyone have seen something that could fit or maybe something homemade?
Thanks!

Homemade Car Magnet Stand

I do a lot of homework comparing specs when shopping for devices, but always forget to consider accessories.
I guess I am also cheap, but spending 75$ + on smartphone holder seems silly. So, like with my GNex it's time to build docks and stands again.
More will come, this time with turbo charging and Qi instead of pogo pins.
This stand was a quickie until I get a chance to do more serious tinkering.
The section base is from an old broken and undersized universal stand
The main bracket is from some IKEA cabinet I cant find link to.
The magnets are neodymium similar to BAC6 BAC6
The rest is random screws & bolts from the junk box.
I still need to cut/drill the bracket to allow for connection of car charger, pics to follow when I get access to tools next week. It holds good on kevlar back especially with the slight support from bracket lip underneath. Finding a good suction surface in the car is another story...
I open the floor to questions.

Thus the home-made in the title.
There are a little bit less than ZERO accesories for sale here in Norway,, and I enjoy tinkering.
If you check out the Galaxy Nexus forum there were many people creating their own cool docks and chargers.
I don't use the phone as a status symbol, so it doesn't bother me.
I won't switch to an iPhone just for the accessories so I gotta make my own.

You are right, that would be cool. I wish they would make a screen protector that wraps around the back of the phone and connects into the battery-- the screen protector could be a mini solar panel, and any light the screen sees would be converted in to energy. How about that for an idea?

that's an interesting thought. But the issue with be the solar panel but the circuitry to regulate and control the power. A phone case would be thick enough though. Intergrate seven Qi wireless solar power charging. Boom!
Edit: I used speak to text to write that. You have failed me Google. But I'm not fixing it, figure it out
Nice bit of handy work. How comes you didn't just go for one of those universal type holders? There's plenty available on the market with most shipping to Norway?
Either way, good work on the one you made :good:

Looking for a clamp-to-desk mount with magnet-to-phone gooseneck arm

Happy new year folks
I've been looking for something like this for a while and have come up with nothing. I'm at the point where I think I have to buy two items and jerryrig them together to get what I want.
What I need is a gooseneck arm for my phone on my desk. The phone needs to be held on with a magnet and the gooseneck needs to be clamped to my desk.
Basically I want to combine this

with this
Every gooseneck I've ever seen has a clamp on the phone end. My thought is to glue the above circular magnetic mount to the gooseneck and then just cut away everything else with a dremel.
Has anyone ever seen what I'm looking for?

How did you find this? I swear, sometimes my wife, who sits behind me, and I can both do a search on each of our Windows 10 Pro desktops, in Chrome, using the same words, and get different results.
The Benks Magnetic Cell Phone Holder is completely, EXACTLY, what I have been wanting and looking for five months!!!!
Thanks so much!!!!
I just ordered the Benks Holder from amazon. I found it at aliexpress for six dollars less, but I keep stuff in my amazon shopping cart that all apply for free shipping and when I get enough of them to qualify I place the order (I'm not Prime).
Thanks again!!!
lol. understand about different results. i think google bases results from what you've searched for before. (since they keep every little scrap of info for years and years).
yay! glad that one fits the bill and you were able to find it even cheaper.:good:
for slippery desk surfaces , you could always put a small square piece of thin rubber between mount surface and desk surface. just a thought.
That arm had the desk clamp, but it also has a phone clamp. I need the phone to be held on with a magnet.
