[Q] [help] mmcblk0p1 of milestone - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

My milestone had done the process of
flashing GOT rom,
flashing vulnerable_recovery_only_RAMDLD90_78 and
putting open-recovery with cm rom into sdcard.
But when I try to access the open-recovery,
it does not work because of
"Cant Mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1"
What should I do?

Please, help me!

Could be a problem with your sdcard. Try formatting it again. Save you data first.

I have tried to format my SD card but it still not work.
Still "Can't Mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1

I had also tried another 2GB sd card.
It becomes another problem "signature verification failed".
I have used Recovery_90.78_Version and Crack_90.78_Only but it is still "signature verification failed".

Try this.
Format sdcard. Copy a fresh copy of AOR 3.3
Flash GOT 2.2.1 to phone using rsdlite. Vulnerable recovery is already injected in GOT, so no need to flash seperate.
Try recovery menu.

Sorry, I don't understand about the "AOR 3.3".
What is it? Where can I find it?

ok, i try it on both sd card and i reply you later!

2 sd card had been formatted and installed AOR 3.3 with cm7 rom.
Now, it becomes "signature verification failed" without using vulnerable recovery.
I have tried vulnerable recovery and crack 90.78 but it still not work.

Crack_90.78_Only.sbf is another type of recovery like Recovery_90.78_Version.sbf.
Some users of Milestone can only use Crack_90.78_Only.sbf to flash rom successfully.

Never heard of it. You are using the A853, right?
Also signature verification failure means a problem with update.zip file. Just to be sure, can you post the exact steps you followed?

New captivate will not flash 2.1

I've got a newer captivate just recently through warranty due to it no longer charging. Well this one came factory with 2.2. I know 2.2 had 3e recovery and I've done the fix to flash unsigned files and was able to get into cwm but it failed everyone I tried to flash a rom. I've tried to flash standard 2.1 and rogers 2.1 via odin3 one click and odin 1.81 via the pit and tar files. Neither way will get my phone working on 2.1. So I have to resort back to the stock 2.2 or rogers 2.2. What am I doing wrong? I just want my custom roms back!!! Please find it in your hearts to help even though I've pissed off a few people with my 3e recovery question.

Try using the 3e recovery fix in Trusselo's sig - just unzip and use the .bat file with your phone plugged (in debugging).
It should let you flash a custom ROM after that. No need to go back to stock.
As for Odin, your phone could be a recent build and you need a specefic odin for 1010 and up.
EDIT: What was the error when you were trying to flash a ROM through cwm?

I unzipped the modified recovery file to the /bin folder via root explorer. Haven't read anything about a .bat file though.
Here is the error I received in cwm after selecting the rom zip:
E:cant mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0p1)
(device or resource buys)
E:can't mount SDCARD:ROM.zip
Installation aborted

Well it's not really needed but the .bat file will run a command that will place the recovery for you through your computer.
Not needed since you moved it yourself using root explorer (make sure you're in mount r/w).
Did you try it after placing the new recovery and rebooting your phone?
what are you trying to flash?
how are you flashing it? with the fixed 3e recovery? or with cwm?
did you rename it properly 'update.zip' for 3e?

I was trying to flash continuum 4. I tried flashing it through cwm in recovery mode. Named the cwm file update.zip rebooted into 3e recovery mode (with the modded recovery file) selected "reinstall packages" then tried to select the continuum rom and thats where I got the error message.

when you select reinstall package, it searches for a file named update.zip on the root of your sd and flashes it so there's nothing more that you have to do.
Now did you fix your problem? I can't tell by the way you wrote that lol
Did you name the file update.zip? or did you name it update?
If you named it update.zip.. it reads it as update.zip.zip as it is a zip file. So all you have to do is to name is "update" with the ".zip" being the type of file.

So youre saying that I can flash roms without going into cwm ? I get into cwm by naming it "update" so I can open it up by selecting "reinstall packages" in the recovery menu. I cant have cwm renamed as "update" and the rom I want to flash as "update" right?

If you moved the 3e recovery fix in /system/bin, you will get into cwm recovery after reinstall package (I believe you have to to it twice as the phone only reboots the 1st time).
Now most of the new ROM have a kernel with built in cwm recovery in their full flash. Which is why you can rename the file to update and reinstall package.
But if you're on 2.2 - you do need the 3e recovery fix so you can get past the signature verification.
Also, you can only have 1 file named update(.zip) in the root of your sd and you want it to be the full ROM file.

Yes. It will take me to cwm. But after I select install rom from sd card and select the rom is when I get the error message I posted above.
I will try flashing it by renaming the rom update.zip and see if it will install that way.

If it takes you to cwm.. You can just "install zip from sd card" - What the file is called won't change anything.
And believe me, once you're on a custom ROM, you won't want to go back.

I understand what you're saying about flashing the rom from cwm but as I said before it gives me an error message as soon as I select the rom from my sd card. Could the rom file be corrupt or does that error message seem more phone related?
And I meant it as I wanted to go back to my old captivate and 2.1 bc I had no problems flashing roms on it. I've already flashed cognition and serendipity on my old phone with little problems. This new captivate is being a pain in my ass.

Haha.
Well I'd say to try a different ROM. I duno which one you're trying to install but make sure of 2 things:
1. It's Froyo based.
2. It's a full flash ROM (not only a update)

Kinda broke my O2X..

Right so I had this fantastic idea to install this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102720
I booted into CWM, wiped cache, wiped dalvik cache, then installed the zip from SD card. ->> Rebooted phone and infinite boot loop.
Decided to try another kernel, to see if it did anything, used this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029799 (eternity)
Now it gets past the white "LG" logo, and the color logo comes up, but freezes and then reboots again.
I have tried using standard kernel but it's the same affair.. I did back up my ROM before I did this, if I restore the ROM will that fix the loops?
Thanks.
Try restoring, if that doesn't work, use NVflash.

New issue, I have my old ROM backed up, the file name is 2011-10-05.zip etc, but when I go to "Install zip from SD card" and select it, it says "Finding update package, opening update package, installing update, installation aborted".
Now I know I'm probably doing this wrong, but if I don't use Install ZIP from SD card, then what else do I do?
When I go to "Backup and restore" it tells me "Couldn't open directory, no files found".
Thanks for your help so far btw.
Edit: reinstalled STOCK 2.3.4 GB ROM, and all my files are still intact, programs etc. Seems to be working fine now.. My kernel is 2.6.32.9, is that stock?

Try this recovery for ICS maybe work. If boot work maybe in ICS the problem is recovery.fstab
The partition is different of HoneyComb?
Greetings
I just tried it on ICS B4 and get the same "Can't mount /data!" error after backing up the boot image, recovery img and system that I got with CWM 4.0.1.4.
Backup to internal card errors with "Can't mount backup path". Whoops! I didn't mount the EMMC. Probably would get the same error as with the external sd.
Recs designed for HC wont wont on ICS as ICS has different partitions.
If we ever get an ICS build that uses the same partitions then the recs for HC will also work on it
Edit: 5.0.2.8 is mirrored and linked to the wiki now

Any with ICS, You can enter the recovery (CWM 5.0.2.8) and go to Advanced-> Show Log
After this reboot to system. Open Root filemanager and go to cache/recovery/last_log (To read the last_log must copy it to another route) & copy the info here.
And repeat the process with Stock Recovery of ICS (Attach ICS Stock Recovery of the ICS B4 of DJ_Steve ROM).

Actually iam trying to flash a recovery mode but there so many threads that i dont know wich one is better. I tried some of them but i dont know where to start. I only end up at the fastboot mode and not pass that.

and you ran "fastboot flash recovery ./recovery.img" ? And you made sure your device is in fastboot mode first?
ok this what i did, i Press VOL + AND POWER at the same time and gave me fastboot.
Then plug in the phone to the computer and the computer detects it but when i go to the computer devices it does not show anything available.
I do have the ROM MANAGER app Installed and flash the recovery mode but it does not show up when i press VOL - AND POWER, It just turns ON.
just type in "fastboot devices". if you see "? device" than you are good. If not you need to install the fastboot drivers.

Here is the process I used for flashing both imgs in case you were curious: shift + right click in the folder with CWM img, fastboot flash recovery "name_of_the_recovery.img," fastboot erase cache.
Once again, this didnt do a thing, I just keep getting the same error when i touch "choose zip from sdcard" ---> E: Can't mount /sdcard/
