If you are currently on 1.57 with root, skip to the second post
This information is out there, its just scattered all over the place and no one wants to take the time to look for it. So here is a (semi)complete guide to flashing your Atrix from 1.26 -> 1.57 -> 1.83. I'm saying this is AT&T only because that is all I have and don't want to mess up anyone's Bell, Telstra, etc phones.
Also, I'm not responsible if you brick your phone. This is the procedures I followed and have had no problems.
This guide is mainly for people who don't have root already and would like it.
0) Own a Motorola Atrix MB860 AT&T branded, a Windows based PC (XP or higher) with about 5GB of free space, and a MicroSD card if you want to root.
00) Read the Instructions thoroughly.
000) Read them even more thoroughly a second time.
0000) Read them a third time just to be safe.
1) Download and extract the necessary files. Go to 7-zip.net and install 7zip if you don't have anything that can extract *.7z files.

2) Backup your apps, data, and anything else you want to save.
SMS, MMS, Call Log Bakup
I recommend "Backup to Gmail"
http://market.android.com/details?id=net.cpedia.backup2gmail
There are other free ones but this is what I use.
Apps, data, and settings
If you want to backup everything, then Titanium Backup is the way to go.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup
3) Install Motorola Media Link and RSD Lite 5.0 (or 5.3.1 if you prefer).
4) Turn off your phone and disconnect it from your computer (if it was connected). Then hold down the volume up button and press the power button. Continue holding volume up until your phone says "Starting RSD Protocol Support".
5) Connect your phone to your computer (use the rear ports or a powered USB hub for safety) and let it install the drivers. Once the drivers are done installing, launch RSD Lite.
5.1) Click the "..." button and browse to the file you extracted from Atrix-1.26-Retail-SBF.7z
5.2) Click the "Start" button.
5.3) Be patient and go for a walk, this will take a while.
5.3.1) Helpful hint, don't put the .SBF on a flash drive. About 1.5GB of files are written to the drive during this step and a flash drive will slow it down significantly.
6) Once RSD Lite is done with it's flashing, boot your phone if it isn't already up. Go through setting up MotoBlur with your info.
7) **ROOTING STEP ONLY** If you want to root your phone, then follow this step, otherwise skip to 8.
7.1) Extract the GladRoot file to "C:\GladRoot" If you read the GladRoot guide you will know why. If you didn't read it, stop now and go read it. I'll wait here.......
7.2) Now that you have read about GladRoot, extract it to C:\GladRoot.
7.3) Enable USB debugging on your phone by going to Settings > Applications > Development then checking "USB debugging"
7.4) Connect your phone to your computer and set your USB connection to "None"
7.5) Open the GladRoot folder and run the "gladroot.bat" (if on windows 7, run as admin) file and follow the onscreen instructions. Be sure to enable sideloading.
7.6) Download and install Tenfar's CWM and follow the instructions from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1019143
7.7) If no errors have occurred, then continue to step 8. Otherwise ask questions here or over at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016060
7.8) If you want to have a rooted 1.83, then install the GingerBreak apk on your phone now so you will have it when we get to 1.83
8) Update to 1.57 by going to Settings > About Phone > System Update.
8.1) You will need to be on wifi to download the update.
8.2) Follow the onscreen instructions and wait until the update is done, this may take a while
8.3) Donate to a dev while you wait for your phone to update
9) Once your phone is on 1.57, we can now update to 1.83.
9.1) Repeat step 8 for 1.83. If it says your phone is up to date, then download the 1.83 SBF and repeat steps 4 and 5 but with the 1.83 SBF instead of the 1.26 SBF.
9.2) Take a walk, donate to a dev, or drink a cup of coffee.
10) Boot your phone if it isn't already up. You should now be at 1.83. you can check this by going to Settings > About Phone and then checking "System Version"
11)**ROOTING STEP ONLY** If you want root and have installed GingerBreak already (it should still be there). Connect your phone to your computer and pull anything you need off of your internal and external SD cards. Run GingerBreak ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765 ) and it should reboot your phone. You should have root when your phone boots up.
12) Now you can install titanium backup and be sure to update busybox for TiBu by choosing "Problems?" then "Get BusyBox" then "Yes, do it". You can then restore your old apps and data. NOTE: DO NOT RESTORE THE FINGERPRINT SCANNER DATA if you do, you will then need to do the following
13) Do this if your fingerprint scanner is not working properly.
13.1) Download, install, and update the Android SDK from here:
http://dl.google.com/android/installer_r10-windows.exe
13.2) Follow the instructions from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-977600.html
14)**Optional** If you have rooted, I highly suggest making a backup using CWM before flashing any new ROMS. That way you can easily get back to stock 1.83 (or whatever version you decide to stop at) if something starts giving you problems. This will not necessarily fix a boot-loop or soft brick.
If you are rooted, now you can install a new theme such as Gingerblur:
http://briefmobile.com/gingerblur-rom-for-atrix-4g
Greyblur:
http://briefmobile.com/greyblur-rom-for-motorola-atrix-4g
Steel Blue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1042365
HoneyGlow:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011516
ProDX Red or Vivid or Tangerine or Pink
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058989

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1019097
Deodexed 1.83:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1055851
If you currently are at 1.57 with root and would like to get to 1.83 with root, here are the steps you should take.
1) Download and install GingerBreak while you still have sideloading so you can root in 1.83.
2) Download 1.83 SBF and RSD Lite from the links above.
3) Boot into RSD mode (turn phone off, then hold volume up and press the power button once)
4) Launch RSD Lite and choose the 1.83 SBF you downloaded and begin flashing. Don't worry about any of your settings or data, it only updates, doesn't wipe clean.
5) Once the flash is done and your phone boots up, connect your phone to your computer and copy all your files to your computer in case GingerBreak wipes all your files.
6) Make sure your externalSD card is in the phone and run GingerBreak and then chose the Root option. Your phone should reboot.
7) Once It reboots, you should be rooted with sideloading. You can now re-install any themes or mods you like.
Do you really need 1.2.6? Can't you just RSD the 1.5.7 SBF for a stock flash?

Hopefully this portion of the guide can save a lot of grief for everyone. I didn't bother backing up my SMS, call log, didn't matter that much to me, but might to others.
Great guide for those people who are new!!

Good work on the guide.
I can't help with a decent free file host as I never host big files.
you can find the sbf files from your post linked here for download, those should be the only ones causing any issues. the others are fairly small and shouldn't cause any issues on dropbox
Updated the links. No longer hosting them myself.

Done. When I get some more time (currently in the process of moving into a new apartment) I'll do some research on the international versions unless someone wants to send me some links to existing threads.
I am new this this forum (Atrix dev that is) I had a captivate and did quite a bit of flashing, just a quick question are those SBFs the Stock roms for the Atrix and is this the method used if you want to revert back to stock? Like before going to the next OTA update etc...?

[GUIDE] Easiest Step-By-Step Tutorial for Upgrading the Bionic to 5.9.902 (+ Root):
I created this 10-step tutorial because there were so many various How-To's floating around the internet on how to do this but the wording was either over-complicated or contained conflicting information. A lot of techies have good intentions and are very good at what they do, but are not so good at explaining it in a way that makes sense to the end user. In this guide I have attempted to do that the best I can to make it the easiest and most concise method on the net for upgrading the Bionic to 5.5.902.
Sidenote: You can also use this guide as a stepping stone when wanting to ultimately upgrade to ICS: Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.x). I will also make my own tutorial for upgrading to ICS when the build becomes more stable.
OVERVIEW/CREDITS: This tutorial utilizes dhacker29's revert/upgrade tool and Dan Rosenberg's (@djrbliss) universal rooting tool for Motorola phones. I have also included any dependent files that are needed for dhacker29's tool and compiled it into one executable that will self-extract then auto-launch. No effective code has been changed, but rather I have just made the process more convenient and seamless. All credit goes to the previously mentioned user's, while the steps below are my own.
DISCLAIMER: This is to be done at your own risk. I assume no responsibility or liability for anything that may happen to your device. This disclaimer sounds scarier than it really is, as this is already a proven process that will work on any Bionic in any software state, but it must be said none the less.
STEPS: Perform these steps on your Bionic only AFTER you have backed up all user data: pictures, videos, txt (sms/mms), email, settings, docs, etc. You do not need to backup any data from the external card (sdcard-ext), as nothing will be deleted from there; however, the internal storage (sdcard) will be formatted, so be sure to backup anything from there that you feel is important. Also make sure that you have at least 1GB free on your external SD card.
Motorola Drivers: Download and install the latest MotoHelper drivers from Motorola's site: HERE. (Be sure to download the "USB Drivers", not the "PC Charging" ones).
Prepare the phone: Once the drivers are completely installed, plug your phone into your computer via the USB cable and make sure it is in "Charge only" mode by pulling down the notification menu at the top and tapping "USB connection", then tap "Charge Only", then "OK". (If applicable, wait for Windows to recognize and auto-install the phone hardware).
Initiate updater software: Download and run BionicUpdater_v5.9.902.exe from here (4 parts, links are interchangeable):
PART 1 of 4: http://mir.cr/03XXOT1W
PART 2 of 4: http://mir.cr/0CJ9KA4B
PART 3 of 4: http://mir.cr/DDDSX4F4
PART 4 of 4: http://mir.cr/0UHATF5Y
Once extraction is complete you will see a white window with blue text. Press [ENTER] at the prompt to continue and display the updater's main menu.
Revert to older stock ROM version 5.5.893: At the Menu, choose the right option depending on your phone's current version:
Press "1" if the version of your phone is lower than 5.9.x
Press "2" if the version of your phone is 5.9.x or higher.
NOTE: You can find your current version by going to your home screen, tapping Menu, then Settings. Scroll down and tap "About Phone", then look at the "System Version" number.
Complete reversion to 5.5.893: Follow the prompts as it walks you through the process, reading carefully for any instructions displayed by the updater along the way. Once it completes, it should take you back to the main menu (This may involve multiple phone reboots along the way)
Prepare for copy of 5.9.902 update file: When the updater's menu reappears, put your phone into 'Charge Only' mode by pulling down the notification menu at the top of your phone and tapping "USB connection" then tap "Charge Only", then tap "OK".
Copy 5.9.902 update file: Now, back in the updater program on your computer, press 6 to copy the 5.9.902 update file to your external SD card. Follow prompts to let the updater walk you through the process. If you get any errors, make sure that you are in 'Charge Only' mode as described above then try again. (Do NOT run the 'OTA Rootkeeper' or 'Forever Root' options at anytime in this process). Once the copy is complete, you can close the white updater screen by clicking the "x" at top right.
Upgrade to 5.9.902: Your phone will reboot and you will see the Droid exclamation icon. Don't worry, just press both volume buttons and a recovery menu will appear. Select the option to install an update (Use the Volume up/down buttons to select, then press the Power button to confirm selection). Browse to the file that was just copied to your SD card, then begin the upgrade.
Wipe data: Once the upgrade is complete, go back to the main menu, and tap the volume down key until "wipe data/factory reset" is highlighted then tap the Power button. Another Confirmation screen will come up. Tap on Volume down key until "Yes" is highlighted then tap Power button. After all user data is cleared, the "reboot system now" option will be highlighted by Default. Tap the Power button to reboot the phone. You are now running 5.9.902 unrooted.
Root: On your phone, walk through the initial phone-setup process until you see the Home screen icons. Make sure your phone is in "Charge only" mode by pulling down the notification menu at the top and tapping "USB connection", then tap "Charge Only", then "OK". Download and run motofail.exe to root your Bionic. Once rooted, the phone will reboot. You are now running 5.9.902 rooted. (This last step is optional and only required if you want a rooted phone).
COMPLETION: You may continue to setup your phone to your liking by reinstalling apps and restoring settings and user data.
DONATIONS: If you want to give donations as a 'Thank you', please give them to dhacker29 and Dan Rosenberg (@djrbliss).
Please leave comments/feedback should you run into any hiccups along the way so that I can make this guide even more user-friendly than it already is.
Hey, just wanted to say thanks for this guide. I ran into a problem when I went to copy the 902 update to my sd card. It kept saying that it was unable to copy it to sd-ext. I tried twice and made sure that Mass Storage was enabled, but I couldn't figure out what was going wrong. I ended up just booting up the phone and pulling the OTA update. Then I went back and used Motofail and didn't have any problems.
One question I do have....is Motofail the same as using forever root? In the respect that it's permanent? Or is there a chance that I can break the root somehow?

If you were in Mass Storage mode but it didn't copy then you should change it to Charge Only mode and try again. If it still gives you an error then you don't have enough free space on the card.
Motofail is better than Forever root as it can be redone again after any update. Forever root didnt root my 902 but Motofail did. Foreverroot is not really "forever".
Thanks for the info. It really was very easy using this method. Thanks for compiling it and taking the time.
If I run into any problems, having taken the OTA as a work around, I'll try it again and try the toggle between "mass storage" and "charge only". I definitely had more than enough room (more than 6gb).
Thanks again.

If this didn't work for you, then you selected the wrong step early on in the process or didn't follow the prompts in the updater app. This is a universal guide for all Bionics. The Bionic's nature dictates that this process has to work.

-EDIT-
My bad you all! I corrected the mode you need to be in for Step 6! It is in fact "Charge Only" mode. The updater app will take care of copying the file to the SD card via it's own method. It actually cannot access the SD card if you have it in Mass Storage mode, so that was the problem. I just tested that step again on my phone in Charge Only mode and it worked.
In fact, it looks like you should be in "Charge Only" USB mode throughout the entire process.

That was pretty immature and unnecessary.
Besides RDSLite is one step in a multi step process. This guide is much easier than the RSD process and does much more than RSD.

hey wondering if im doing anything wrong. ive installed motohelper the usb drivers 4 times and the updater keeps saying waiting for device no matter what i do ... dont know if it matters but my phone is still on 5.5.886 and wont recieve ota updates and verizon is being no help so i figured id try to update manually and yet again i still cant update. at this point i dont know if its my phone that has the problem or not
I followed the steps to a T (whatever that really means) and all seems to work, except that I haven't been able to connect to 4G since doing this - that's about a day's worth of 3G in places where I was always getting super-fast 4G (central Austin, Texas).
Any chance that I didn't do something right? Is this related at all?

Kevin, try using a different usb port on your computer. If you have a desktop, usage reports in the back of the computer, rather than the ones on the front, or on a usb hub. If that is not the case, then try a different cable.

Try going into your settings menu, then under Mobile Networks, toggle the LTE/4G option off them on again. You can also try booting the phone without your SIM card, them reboot with it back in. It might shake things loose.

Hello. First off, I want to thank everyone for their hard work here. I have followed many tutorials and have seen many great conversations to keep noobs like me from making mistakes when trying to delve into the world of ROMs and rooting. However, I did encounter some troubles while installing the ICS rom onto my bionic (running on .902). I think I may have accidentally overwritten the stock rom backup that I made with safe strap or whatever that app is (I'm sorry, like I said, I am a complete noob). Is there a way to restore the phone to stock, as in before I even touched it, even if the backup I made during the process is gone by my mistake?
I'm sure this has been asked a million times, and if so, I apologize, but as I noob, I have no idea how to even begin to search for clues. Walkthroughs would be nice, but links are fine too, since I'm sure there are plenty of the same questions out there.

Yeah I'm sure you can.
Get on stock .902(here).
Install SafeStrap.
Backup Stock Rom by Toggling "SafeMode"
Boot up ICS.
When you want to go to Stock .902 undo "SafeMode" and the Stock Rom should boot up on Reboot

Enable Usb Debugging and Unknown Sources. Download Motohelper drivers
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk
I'm sorry I probably should be a little more specific. I have both of those enabled and I do have the Motohelper drivers installed. I am following the steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22758211#post22758211
On step 8, I do not see a file named FXZ or a file with that extension, but I figured it was the file with the name that the zip file had. I chose that file after clicking "..." and hit Start, but it doesn't do anything.
I am running the ICS version cyanogen mod 9.0.0-rc0-droid_bionic-kang build number alpha_2012_02_10
I already have SafeStrap installed (used that to get this rom on). So, looks like I'm stuck on or around step 8 from the other steps posted. Once I can get past that, I can continue with the steps posted in this thread!
Thanks!!!

SafeStrap disables ADB(that Im sure of) which will not let RSD run(im pretty sure) you have to select the xml file
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk
Yes, the XML file is the one I select. However, it will not do anything in RSD. Is there anything I can do to enable ADB in order to let RSD run?
Update: I found a way to do it. I think things are going okay so far. Looks like it is installing. If it does install successfully, I would like to do everything perfectly right going forward.
So, after this is installed, I will want to:
1. Get root access again using Motofail? I assume doing this return to stock will remove root access.
2. Install SafeStrap. Once that is done, I toggle Safemode to enabled, which will backup my stock rom and protect it from being overwritten?
3. Then, flash ICS from the zip files on my sdcard?

Safestrap shouldn't brick your phone, it works by tricking the system into using the preinstall partition as a new system partition and writing the new ROM there. I also have backups of the Bell preinstall and system partitions, which are available online (search other threads).
Make sure your internal SDCard has at least 4GB before begining this process, and your phone is fully charged (or mostly charged)
1) Root the phone ( use ZergRush or SuperOneClick - http://shortfuse.org/ )
2) Download and install SafeStrap, on your phone navigate to http://bit.ly/wwqy6y and install the APK
Full SafeStrap description here : http://blog.hash-of-codes.com/how-to-safestrap/
3) Download the following files:
a) Get the ROM (Use AOKP or CM9, I have had AOKP working better with my phone and recommend that. Recently, some users have experienced phone issues, ie calling and data signal with AOKP and switched to CM9- I had the opposite experience)
For AOKP : http://t.co/fRCJ2fpx
For CM9 : http://t.co/bDTznUiX
b) Google Apps for Motorola: http://t.co/Sjda8UXJ
c) XT860 SubPatch (by Rick#2) http://bit.ly/A5hb6d
3) Restart the phone, after the "M dual core technology" a safestrap boot screen will appear, press the menu button.
4) Select safe boot menu -> Toggle Safe System (use the first option) and confirm. This will backup the entire data partition to the SD card, and change booting to go to safestrap. This process will take a little while, please be patient.
5) Once the safe system is toggled, go to the main menu, you should see on the second line "Safe System is: ENABLED" that mean's we're ready to go.
6) Go to Install Zip for SDCard, and navigate to the internal SD card's Download folder, install the ROM first, then repeat the process to install the Google Apps, then repeat again to install the XT860 subpatch.
7) Reboot the phone and enjoy your new treat!
Hope that helps,
BTW, I noticed you have Wind listed as your carrier. The Bell XT860 doesn't operate on AWS frequencies, so are you sure you're not roaming all the time on it, or did you do something else that we don't know about?

I can't get safestrap to work on my phone, I installed it, I opened and pressed Install recovery, then I power off and turn it back on and nothing. I just cant get any menu to come up unless it is the regular motorola window where I can clear my cache, do a factory reset or apply a zip file but that is it. What am I missing?
... my first couple of attempts at installing Safestrap failed as well, until I started trying different versions of Busybox... might have just been coincidence tho. Keep at it!

[GUIDE] Easiest Step-By-Step Tutorial To Upgrade/Reset Your Bionic to Stock 5.9.905 + Root
<< This is for people who need to upgrade or get back to the latest Gingerbread Stock ROM release. >>
OVERVIEW: This guide will get your Bionic on the Stock 5.9.905 release (Gingerbread). These steps are universal for all Bionics, and work as long as you have not upgraded your phone past the .232 ICS leak. This process is called 'performing an FXZ' (in other words, 'resetting your phone to the latest factory default state').
CAUTION: Before beginning these steps, make sure you have backed up all personal data that you do not want to lose. This process WILL wipe all internal user data, apps and settings! You can put your backup on your external SD card if you like since this process will NOT modify any files on your SD card. As with any user guide, do this is at your own risk.
DEPENDENCIES: This guide assumes you have a Verizon Droid Bionic phone and are running as an administrator user on Windows XP or later.
Be sure that your battery has at least 75% charge and make sure your phone is NOT plugged into your computer. Do NOT attempt this process with a battery level lower than 75%.
Power off your Bionic and make sure it is not plugged into anything
In Windows, go into Control Panel, "Programs and Features" (or "Add/Remove Programs" in XP) and uninstall any existing Motorola phone or USB drivers.
Download and install the latest Motorola USB drivers [mirror] and RSD Lite v5.7 [mirror].
On your Bionic, while holding down both volume keys, press and hold the power button until you see a black and white menu selection screen. Press Volume Down twice, to select "AP FastBoot" then press Volume Up just once to activate that mode.
Plug your phone into your PC (If you are using a Desktop, then be sure to use one of the USB ports on the BACK of your computer). Let Windows complete installing the multiple device drivers necessary for the Bionic (do NOT unplug it during this time). You may be prompted to reboot; if so go ahead and do it.
Right click on RSD Lite, and select "Run as administrator" (or just double-click on XP/2003)
Your device should be showing in line 1. Click on it to select it, then click the browse button to the right of the "Filename" box - it looks like three dots, [...]
Download this 5.9.905 FZX zip file and place it in the root of your hard drive (e.g. C:\). Select this file then click the "Decompress And Start Flashing" button.
Your phone will now go through a 15-20 minute flashing process. Be patient! Once finished you should see it load the "Welcome" screen with the picture of the large green android. You are finished! You may now setup and use your phone.
NOTE REGARDING STEP 10: It is VERY important that you be patient. Even if you think the process is frozen, it probably is not. Some of the parts that get updated take a very long time (especially the 'Webtop' segment) so just wait it out. If you see "Failed" or "Error" text at any point, then you should unplug your phone and start this process over again from the beginning. If you continue to see these errors then try a different USB port on your computer, or a different computer altogether.
===
OPTIONAL: How To Root 5.9.905 (or any Gingerbread ROM)
OVERVIEW: Once you have completed the above steps to get your phone into a stock 5.9.905 state (or any Gingerbread ROM for that matter), then these steps will help you root your phone. Rooting your phone allows you deeper access to your phone's file system and gives your phone other more advanced functionality.
A. Enable Unknown Sources: From the home screen on your Bionic, tap Menu, Settings, Applications, then enable the checkbox for "Unknown Sources" then tap "OK" to confirm.
B. Enable USB Debugging: From that same screen, tap "Development", then enable the checkbox for "USB debugging", then tap "OK" to confirm.
C. You should already have the Motorola Drivers installed from STEP 4 above, so plug your phone into your computer and let Windows install any necessary device drivers needed.
D. Download Motofail-GB to your PC and select "Run as administrator" (or just double-click on XP/2003). Press enter when prompted, to begin the rooting process. This may take about 2 to 3 minutes, and may reboot your phone multiple times.
You are now rooted! Enjoy.

Quick question: is this OTA? So if ICS is ever released for the Bionic, one can just upgrade to it? Or do you have to first go to .902 and upgrade to .905?
edit: also, I'm interpreting as OTA as "on the air" please correct me if it is actually "off the air".

OTA stands for "Over the air". No, this is not the OTA, this is a "leak" from Motorola.
To get the official OTA, you would have to FXZ to .905. Forget about .902 - you do not need that anymore since the full .905 file is available to directly flash.

Huh? I think you misread my post. .905 is just the latest public stock ROM from Motorola/VZW. It is Gingerbread (the one in this thread). To get the ICS OTA (whenever it comes out) you'll need to FXZ to .905 first (then you can get the OTA when it is available). Make sense?

Hmm. I think you might have misread my post actually. I followed these instructions and FXZ'd back to. 905 using the files in the thread. I then asked if this is OTA, as I'm about to send my phone in and don't want anything but the official ROM on my phone when I do, but you said it's not and that it's a leak and that I'd need to FXZ back to.905 for OTA. I thought I just did that! Did you think I was posting in the ICS guide thread? My question was (is), if following these instructions will put you back OTA on the most recent official release. Thanks again, sorry for the confusion.

OK, before I do this, I should back everything up with Titanium, the when I get to ICS, I'd root again, install Titanium, restore (most) settings, correct?
And as far as we know, we can re-root under ICS, correct?
NEVER use backup apps like Titanium. Just backup user files (like photos, music, etc.), then go through this process, then manually download/reset up all your apps.

Hey, I am trying to revert my HTC desire 510 to stock, i do not have a backup. I found files on the htcdev.com and thought they were Roms (easy catch). Unfortunately they are not. I don't even know what to do with these files in order to get my ROM in place.

Best way of downloading is having the Mega downloader app on your computer.
Tested and approved for share. I thank all the developers out there. FYI, the RUU's do not exist on the htc.com/uk site. I do not know why. Those of x86 have theres on htc.com/us site.

HOW TO INSTALL:
What is changed?
Not much is changed.
Bellow are the app replacements I made:
1. Sense Home ---> NOVA Launcher
2. Sense Messages ---> Google Messages (Material Design)
3. Sense Calculator ---> Xlythe Calculator (Material Design)
4. Sense Calendar ---> Google Calendar (Material Design)
5. Sense Clock ---> Google Clock (Material Design)
6. Sense File Manager ---> ES File Explorer
7. Sense Weather ---> AccuWeather
4. Sense Keyboard ---> Google Keyboard
He removed a lot of HTCs and Google’s useless apps and other things, that are taking up space and resources.
From Google apps you have left:
1. Google Play Store
2. Google Chrome
3. Google Play Games
4. Google Drive
4. YouTube
5. All other background apps and services that are required for the Google apps to function properly.
From HTC apps you have left:
1. Camera app
2. FM Radio
3. Gallery (I couldn't find a decent replacement)
4. Music
5. Photo Editor
6. LockScreen
He removed the HTC Browser, Zoe, E-mail and other useless stuff from HTC.
He has included:
1. Clean Master Lite - It's much faster than the full blown app and gets the job done. Lots of people hate it but it works like a charm on this device.
2. DiskInfo - With this little app you can see all of the partitions on your device. Regardless if you are S-ON or S-OFF.
3. Glim Lite - A set of beautiful Material design icons for NOVA launcher.
He didn't include an E-mail app because the Play Store is full of them and I couldn't choose. This choice is up to you.
How to install it?
First of all you need an unlocked bootloader with a TWRP - custom recovery installed on your device.
To unlock your bootloader go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/desi...e-510-t2910233. Follow that tutorial to get your bootloader unlocked. After a successful unlocking you'll need a custom recovery.
Download this file: https://dl.twrp.me/a11ul/twrp-3.0.2-0-a11ul.img. This is the latest TWRP recovery for our device. Now we need to flash this file on the device:
Before starting put the contents of the ZIP file on to your SD card. And make sure that it has this folder structure:
Code:
--SD CARD
--TWRP
--BACKUPS
--Your device serial number (The name of this folder should be the serial number of your device otherwise TWRP won't see the backups in this folder)
--2016-04-17--13-49-21_KTU84L_release-keys (Don't change this, I don't know what will happen if you do)
All you do is replace the downloaded backup with your backup, 1st delete your files..... DO NOT REPLACE THE FOLDERS, ONLY THE FILES IN THE LAST FOLDER
1. Power off your device by pulling the battery out and putting it in again.
2. Press the Volume Down and Power Buttons until you see the HBOOT screen.
3. Press the Power button again to enter Fastboot mode.
4. Connect your phone with your PC using an USB cable.
5. Now open your terminal (I'm using Ubuntu but it's same in Windows as well) and type:
Code:
fastboot devices
This will show you an output like this:
Code:
--your devices serial number-- fastboot
If it doesn't show you an output like that then you probably didn't install the drivers correctly or you have a faulty USB cable.
If your output is the same as above than we can move on.
This command will flash the TWRP recovery on your device:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery /full/path/to/the/recovery.img
Example:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery /home/denny/Downloads/twrp-3.0.2-0-a11ul.img
Now you have TWRP on your device.
To boot TWRP press the Power button to go back to the HBOOT screen and navigate to the RECOVERY option with the volume keys and again press the Power button. After a few seconds you'll see your new recovery.
Restoring the backup
First we need to wipe any potential data that will cause conflicts with the new system.
1. Tap on "Wipe"
2. Tap on "Advanced Wipe"
3. Select all but leave the Micro SDCard option unchecked.
4. Swipe the slider to wipe the data.
After that is complete press on the house button on the lower end of the screen.
Now we are going to restore the backup:
1. Tap on the "Restore" button.
2. At the lower left corner tap on "Select Storage" button.
3. Choose "Micro SDCard" option and press OK.
4. Now you should see the backup folder. Open it.
5. Select "Boot" and "System" and swipe to start the restoring process.
6. Press "Reboot System" after the restoring has finished.
After you setup you system, remove the battery again, launch in to recovery and flash this boot.img

Not yet downloaded it. i was told that that I can only use that of vodafone UK (x.xx.161.x).

That up there, old...... I got the solution, thanks to the developers that helped me. Am now posting the links here. Choose which your phone is based on. The link includes different RUU's, not only that of Vodafone.
I did not upload anything, so i will not take credit for that job. On the other hand, i will take credit for widely sharing. (Easy Find)
Best way of downloading is having the Mega downloader app on your computer.
Tested and approved for share. I thank all the developers out there. FYI, the RUU's do not exist on the htc.com/uk site. I do not know why. Those of x86 have theres on htc.com/us site.

Hey Zubagy. I have been searching for an RUU for vodaphone for ages!! Is this the stock?
Could you advice me on how to apply this after after rooting my device. Will this lock my carrier again. I am actually on a different carrier, but they can't detect tethering because I bought the phone from vodaphone.

Any time, yes... the version is 1.51.161.10. It doesnt lock the operator, your phone is just based on the Vodaphone make but you are able to use any operator. Iam in Uganda and i use the phone for Airtel. The Vodaphone part of it all is to jst show who the makers or promoters are in this case. But all that is Bloatware. I have updated my Blog and added the necessary links that you are intrested in, and how to install. (Debloated rom)
in this case am assuming you have x64 based HTC.
Sorry for the delay in the response this time, I went offline yesterday.
That rom is a '.exe'. this means you will have to ran it on ur windows computer and all u do, is insert the phone when you are asked to, and let the computer do the rest.
If you need further help, dont hesitate....especially when it comes to flashing the fdebloated version, the developer of that version is not replying, dont know why

Many thanks, you have been very helpful,
So all I have to do is download the Vofaphone ROM and run it on my computer after my phone is rooted? Do I need to make sure that boot loader is locked and any other precautions I should take? I wish to unroot the phone afterwards and leave it as the vodaphone version.

No, no need for relocking the boot loader, just go a head and insert your phone as it will tell you too Just make sure you have battery of around 50%+.
your wish will come through to unroot the phone, but trust me.....it is boring. the debloated rom is far much better when it comes to performance. the phone is actually smoother and you get space for other applications. What i did with my phone, i installed the debloated, added a memory card of 8gb, partitioned it so that i can push some apps to the phone..... but hey, anytym......You need more help..... dont hesitate.....will be right here.
hit thanx if this helped

Hi Zubaggy, I have just two more questions.
After I have opened the .exe file and installed the Vodaphone ROM on my phone, do I need to also install the 1.51.161.10 Kernel from the HTCdev website, or does the ROM have that inside it.?
Thanks

But i employ you to try the Debloated version. It is awesome
I am getting error 155 when I try and install the ROM?
---------- Post added at 10:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:59 PM ----------
I have tried installing several times (vodaphone UK 1.51.161.7) and at first it gave me error 115 and then the next 3 times was stuck on 0/7 install for 30 minutes. I have rooted using dips root method but this ROM doesn't work. Can you help me?

When you are flashing a RUU, you need to unroot the phone, install the stock recovery and relock the bootloader before you start the install process. The errors above tell you that you haven't done something from the things I mentioned.

I installed the recovery I made using philz touch. I believe I am now unrooted. I was told by Zubaggy that I don't need to relock boot loader. How do I do that anyway?

When you run the RUU the installer expects the phone to be in original shape. That is way it gives our errors when it detects a custom kernel or a custom recovery.
This is the stock kernel:
https://mega.nz/#!LQIDQZzK!pdmMgPrh5clCYWuyAczfzyIhKBFDyysYWAOLRhx0pZM
This is the stock recovery:
https://mega.nz/#!uMQ0ETpB!5YLSOjAHGfDMCrDHIN3smSTjPI35LcD1wSJf4BZ6Luc
Flash them using fastboot and after that relock the bootloader and try the RUU again.
If you have any questions please ask.
EDIT: You can relock the boot loader using the command: fastboot oem lock

Thanks Danny for your fast responses I have been responding to you in my thread but would like to keep it here.
Philz touch is installed on my system and I don't know how to remove it.
Which should I flash first the stock kernel or recovery.
Surely I can't use recovery while I have one already, what if I install the stock recovery and then I haven't got a back up file.
What commands do I need to enter in CMD to flash those files.
Thanks.
