Apologies to those of you who come accross this thread in the anticipation to see an absolute killer of a boot animation, but I am afraid I have a noob question for you all.
I can see a lot of different boot animations in the roms that I have tried it today (my first time doing this ****), and I found some really amazing ones and some that are just pants.
What are the best boot animations in your opinions?
Furthermore, how easy is it to apply a boot animation to any rom that you download and install? Can I make one myself? Is it a GIF format? Are boot animations specific to devices? Eg: Will a boot animation from a droid work on my Nexus s?
I do however love the boot animation that is installed with NEXUS SENSE ROM. i mean WOW... have you guys seen that? I wish there were others like that around, but my search efforts on XDA as well as google were fruitless.. everything is crap!
Prepare to get flamed... This isn't the section bud, please learn to read the forum rules. You're more likely to get your answers if you posted in the proper section...
inc flames.
The search button is your friend. furthermore, boot animations aren't the territory of development, thats more of a theming thing and finally, threads like this that don't release things are generally a nono in XDA unless they're in general or Q&A.

And of course its threads like these that causes the remarks.. I honestly don't see how you "looked". Though if I werent educated in Android, I probably would've posted without really looking, or searching, either.

There's no way you looked... that thread I linked you to was literally 5-6 threads down the page on which you posted! Next time just search and look before posting a new thread... chances are very high most questions have already been asked. That will save you the embarrassment of getting flamed, and yes it's deserved if you learn from it, and will cut down on clutter and the rash of pointless and/or repeat threads in our beloved forum.
new to the forum need help my sprint hero is 1.5 i want to root it and overclock but i do want to keep sprint tv and sprint nav thnx
Have u read up on the process of rooting.?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
yes i did but all seemed geared at the 2.1 update so can i root or do i update to 2.1 then proceed
There are directions to root 1.5 and 2.1 everywhere here you just have to give some actual effort to look for them. I'd suggest going to geekfor.me and use the kitchen to autoroot it.
Why root 1.5 when your going to upgrade to 2.1 anyway? Why not just RUU to 2.1 and then root it?
OMG...what is going on...SEARCH! ALSO there is a Q&A section specifically for these problems. This is the ANDROID DEVELOPMENT section. Im not trying to be mean but please read the rules about posting before posting.

I completely disagree. There are a mere 3 stickies in the Development forum, of which one clearly, in the title, says "Don't post questions here!" This was a question, which directly violates the rules. Not only that, it's the most basic question of all (how to get started) which is also answered in the stickies. Why should we make any effort to help the OP (and many others on these boards) when they obviously made no effort of their own?
If you don't agree with me and feel the "purpose" of XDA is to baby everyone, I'd encourage you to check out some of the other sections that still have some activity and mods who care. You will find them to be a drastically different experience.
I'm sorry but clearly he had to open the main cdma hero forum part. He SHOULD HAVE seen Q&A. Then decides to post in development. I'm not trying to be a prick I'm following The rule's. Like above..if he would of bothered of making an effort he would have seen the sticky saying don't post questions. I just feel when some blatantly makes no effort to search or follow rules they should not be handed something. And I did answer his question if u guys would have looked at my post.

No problem man, simple mistake.
I do like the rules that are set here (with the stickies and such) but I do remember the feeling of just finding xda (which was my first forum experience) and how overwhelmed and confused I was. I did mess up in the beginning, with my posting, but I was never bashed. I know you guys weren't bashing him (well I hope not) but you have to realize that he won't make this mistake again, it was a simple mistake. I didn't even know what a "sticky" was when I joined in January haha.

Everyone cool your jets. you got rockets in your pockets? I see nothing wrong with what t12icky0 originally posted. He answered the questioned and suggested what everyone else would have suggested--searching & reading more.
I also have to agree. There are other forums obviously specifically for questions or general talk along with the sticky here saying that as well. I'm not bashing OP. It just never hurts to do your best searching for your answer, and if you come up short, post.
Also let's chill with the foul language.

Maybe the OP did not bother to search on the net or on this forum before. Maybe that was more than a week ago and it changed since. Maybe the OP learned to search before opening a new thread. Maybe you're trolling. Maybe you're just supporting opening threads the subject of which are already discussed in detail on the same forum. Maybe you did not bother to see if there were threads about rooting v20* at the time this thread was opened.
A lot of maybes. So what?

Where's the fun in that? The question's been asked and answered on this very forum dozens of times. "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime".
BTW., ridicule is not an inappropriate answer to the ridiculous.

You talk about a useless thread then post a useless answer.
This is a forum that's supposed to help not browbeat and insult posters. If you don't have something useful to post then DON'T POST! This is the q/a section, questions are going to be asked. If you don't like the question, or the way it was asked, ignore it.

If you think there's been a breach of forum rules, report it to a Mod, don't take it on yourself to insult noobs. Talking about rules, did you skip over the one about making rude and insulting posts?

patience is a virtue some people here have yet to receive, cuz they clearly can't figure it out themselves
camera and mic really depend on drivers for the touchpad being released/leaked/found.....and if we know what they are then we can find those drivers.
There is a project regarding this at rootzwiki but its kind of a "stop-start" routine.
Dalingrin, the dev who came up with android on the touchpad pretty much has said that it'll be a very long to impossible time for those two to be working on the touchpad, but hey you never know we might get lucky
Very helpful answer, thanks a lot

Ok so any questions about the phone? Had to stop visiting Sony forums as I can't stand the continuous complains:crying: XDA is not just for developers but also in general for people who want to learn.
Just a few basics:
1. Always use the search button. Many, including me are particularly annoyed by people who can't be bothered to search
2. Press the thanks button for helpful posts. It helps a lot by pointing out the useful replies and for the poster's ego...
3. Finally, the video
