[Q] Noise when charging - LG Optimus 2x

Hi, does anyone hear the very high pitched sound when charging your phone?

Nope, mine's on charge right now and silent. What charger are you using?

I am using the original LG wall charger. I found that some phones were having this problem too, and some had this problem just for a certain rom @[email protected]

Its not the rom its your charger.Even if you leave the charger plugged without charging the phone after some hours you ll hear it.. original charger from lg!
Dont know why though..

Is using 2A charger safe?

Hi everyone.
Recently i lost my orginal charger that comes with GN.
And i decieded to buy a new one.it is samsung branded but for tablet and the output is 2A.
If im not wrong the orginal is 700mA.
Now when i put the phone into charge i feel a little lag and slow down while its charging.
My question is why such a thing happening.?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Original one is 5v 1A
| message swifted from Note, travelled in the air to gateway and wi-maxed to [email protected] |
The original charger output rating is 5.0V 1.0A....well have charged my note many times through LG and nokia chargers but never faced any lags or slow performance..

I am not sure with the note but I have experienced this with previous phones. using different charger of different diff rating damages the battery life
| message swifted from Note, travelled in the air to gateway and wi-maxed to [email protected] |
I use both, 1 and 2 A
Anyway the charging current is controlled by kernel.
If I remember right it is limited to 2A
(been a while since i looked into the driver code)
Once i had issues where when my touch response was very jumpy I mean was unable to type a single correct word.. Later on i plugged the charger directly to the wall socket and it was fine. It was a problem with the spike buster, some grounding issues and the charger was original samsung note.. Was able to replicate the same with dellstreak on the same spike buster..

So its safe to use 2A charger.
And is there any advantages to charge by higher amp?
I mean maybe faster charging time.
And the other question remains with lags and performance issue....!
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Yes it charges much faster. However as stated before, it might have a negative effect on battery life.
Then again the price of a new battery won't kill us
For now my battery is still ok and I bought my Note last year...
Ok i switched the wall AC plug to another one. And no lags anymore.
I think it was that grounding thing our friend said before.
Currently im using 3250 battery gold.china made. Hope new charger wont couse any problem to this battry.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Just check in the beginning that it doesn't run hot while charging.
Acually it was hot with orginal charger while charging before.
But now its totally fine.

My friend bought an SGN2 yesterday and I saw that the original charger that came with it was 5.0V2A.. I was surprised but i want to try it out.. for sure it would slash the charging time in half.. >

And take the battery as well with it in half the time!!

yes it mite damage the battery
Yes the more amps the better so long as the volts match . Better a more powerful, than weak.
The phone draws what it needs no more
It will not screw the batt. It draws what it needs .underpower is worse . The charger could blow...not that way

In my experience using phone while its on charging progress will not effect the process and time with 2A charger.
In any case using 2A is best.
I bought an orginal samsung tablet charger which is match with other orginal accessory that comes with phone.nice....

Following Ohm's law, assuming we have the same resistance (the battery/charging circuit), the AMPs (current) would not rise as long as the Voltage wont rise..
So as long as your charger is pumping out 5v, the charging circuit on the phone would take control of the current.. 2A on the charger simply means it can pump out 2A max when the charging circuit demands that much.. I have a 12V 30A power supply and I'm using it to light some LEDs.. They dont burn out.. They only take the current that they need...
Simply saying, even if you have a 5v Unlimited Amp charger, It wont kill your phone.. The charging circuit will take control of the current limit.. If it senses that there is an overcurrent in the system, it will cut it off.. If you have a charger that pumps out more than 5v (I'm sure that is a non standard USB charger) then thats the time you have to worry..
thats a lot explanatory
---------- Post added at 06:14 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:13 AM ----------
so its safe to say 5V & any Amp is ok

Buzzing AC / wall charger / adapter

Anyone else dealing with this? It was so loud when I went to sleep last night I had to get back up and hunt the room to find the source.
It's the wall charger. It buzzes when plugged into the wall, with or without the USB cable attached, but only without the phone ALSO attached and charging.
I come from a Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus and neither of those had this issue (nor any other wall charger for the myriad of electronic devices I've owned).
I'm not gonna reach around under the desk to unplug the adapter from the wall each time I'm done using it with the phone.
My usage scenario is probably really common in that I leave it and the USB cable plugged in, with the phone end of hte USB sitting on my desk. Plug the phone in to charge, otherwise phone is elsewhere. So, more often than not there is no phone plugged in, and it's thus buzzing.
Of course, Google can't or won't just send a replacement charger - they want to do a complete warranty return of the phone and everything. Such a major hassle for a small simple piece.
Does anyone know if the LG Optimus G has the same charger? I'm tempted to go to some local cell shop and try some other of the same charger to see if the problem is beyond my particular unit.
Happens to me too. As long as it charges I'm going to keep using it. If it goes I have a couple backups. I wouldn't return the phone though. Just pick up an after market charger and you should be fine.

Having the same issue, really annoying. There seem to be many faulty units...
But I fear they won't just replace them for free, because they are working well, just with this annoying noise. :S
IMO its just a charger. My phone is fine so if I have to use another I will. Walmart has some for like 10 or 12 bucks. But your right, charger shouldnt be faulty with that annoying buzzing sound.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Mine does the same and its only when the phone is unplugged from it. It takes a little while to build up the buzz. Its like they used a low budget capacitor or something. Who knows..
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Same here, doesn't do it when the phone is plugged in so I don't really care. You can only hear it if you are right beside it.
Have the exact same issue with my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4 charger...
This is the 3rd nexus I've had due to various faulty reasons and all 3 have had the buzzing in the earpiece and an even louder annoying as hell buzz in the wall charger. The last 2 also have the rattle while the first didn't but I don't care anymore I still love this phone and will live with the annoyance. I don't really hear the earpiece buzzing unless it's silent in the room
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Mine doesn't buzz, but squeals at a high pitch (15+KHz). It's not a constant tone, but warbles up and down in volume making it almost impossible to ignore. Swapped to the charger for an old iPhone one I had lying around. It only has a 1A rather than a 1.2A output, so it'll charge a little slower, but it's worth it to avoid the racket.
I am having the same issue is yours charging really slow some time I left mine overnight and it was around 25 :banghead:

Having the same issue as well with my charger. Very annoying. After I unplug it from the wall it still buzzes for about 30 seconds then stops.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Buzzing is just a capacitor inside charger.
When there is nothing connected capacitor is getting current, but with phone connected current goes to your phone.
Buzzing last even after charger unplugged because capacitor is like a temporary storage and gets discharged in few seconds.
Capacitors prevent power fluctuations, and help prevent ditect damage to device if there are fluctuations in power supply board.
Nothing to worry about it, many industries use capacitors to maintain their power factor (voltage/current) ratio.

Yep, experiencing this problem too. Personally, it's really annoying for me, the charger is just 30-40 cm away from my head when I'm sleeping.
I wonder if I could use another charger, I've one with OUTPUT of 5.0V and 700mA, that should be fine right?

Who's worried about it? It's annoying and obnoxious.
Person above: any USB charger is fine. The higher the possible current, the faster the charge (to a point, the phone will only ask up to a certain amount)
Yeh I have this on my UK charger.
It is recommended to unplug/switch off at the wall anyhow as a charger will be using power even when not connected to the phone.

An ancient 'wall-wart' transformer PSU maybe, but a modern switch-mode PSU will be using a handful of milli-Watts at most when idle. Not really worth unplugging to save power: home electricity is measured in units of 1kWh; at 10mW, you'd have to leave the charger plugged in for over 11 years to use 1 unit.
mine buzzes very loud too. both my nexus s chargers also buzz but not as loud as the LG one.

All the phone chargers iv used have got pretty warm when I've accidentally left them plugged in with no phone. They are using power so it just seems common sense to unplug (or switch off at the wall, which is what I do in the uk).
I'm not sure where you got your numbers but a quick Google found these :
the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, who measured several devices in each category, a cell-phone charger draws an average of 3.68 watts when the phone is on and charging; 2.24 watts when it is on and charged; and 0.26 watts when it is just hanging out in the socket

I have the same problem with my Nexus 4 charger. Decided to use my Sony Ericsson Xperia charger instead.
This problem still annoys the hell out of me because my charger is next to my bed and I can hear it all night if I don't have my phone plugged in.

Help! My phone isn't charging.

One day I was away from home and my battery was low. So I had to use a Sony Xperia charger. But now my phone has problems charge.
problems such as:
-it won't charge
-it only charges to 50%
-the charge cuts in and out
-I have to leave it still or it won't charge.
Has anyone had these problems occur. This is really annoying and I would like to find a solution ASAP
*and the only charger that doesn't cause this problem is ny nexus 7 charger. But I don't want to use it. Because when I tried it, it said it's not compatible and will damage my device.

Unfortunately it sounds like the micro USB connector port may be partially broken. Did you try a different USB cable with the stock charger?

Sorry, that was my only work around. I think you need to get the hardware repaired.

If your phone is charging half way through then It should not be the connector. Try charging through the use if laptop. Try clearing the battery stats if rooted else back up your phone and try restoring it to factory settings.

HI
greetings,
I think its a hardware problem
might be the micro usb port of the cable has to do something
try any of your friends htc cable and plug and see if the problem exist then its not the cable but the phone ....
best way is to take your phone to htc service centre

it's factory.. there is no fix for that .. in the manual says that you better don't use the headset while charging .. it consumes more power than the coming..
I think that it's protect for li-ion battery in xperia Z.

What charger are you using? If the 1500 mah wall charger that came with it, then it should charge just fine.
If some other charger thats rated lower, then you'll end up using more power.
When I got my GPS working and screen set to 100%, my phone uses 800-900mah or so. My 760mah car charger is hardly able to keep up with it.
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
The 'out the box' charger will charge the phone in its sleep state pretty quickly, however if you start using it (which isn't recommended might I add) you'll use more juice than the charger supplies pretty easily. Things like gaming or music will drain the battery quicker than it charges.
So try this...
Turn your screen brightness right the way down
Avoid gaming or music, or play music through a BT speaker/headphones
Turn off your internet connections
and finally....buy a better charger

About charging (strange...)

I bought dock dk31 and Magnetic charger they working ok before.
But now both charger not charging
When in charge the light does go red
But just not charging.even battery drain
Fast.any one had this kind issue before?
Now only way to charge is using usb charge.(sorry for my English)
Sent from my C6903 using xda app-developers app
A friend of mine had the same issue. The cause was that his cable was somehow broken.
Also check if your magnet charging cable is really mounted on the phones magnet dock. It already happened to me that my phone was in a state where it shows that it's charging but still drained battery. Readjusting it a little helped me.
Thanks for reply
I did adjust every time when try to charge
But samething.
It happened after one night I forgot to charge my phone and battery drain out
I wake up morning try to charge the phone but can't chagre then i hard reset chagre it again.it work again but i was using usb charger. Since that my both dock charger and Magnetic not work
