it's factory.. there is no fix for that .. in the manual says that you better don't use the headset while charging .. it consumes more power than the coming..

I think that it's protect for li-ion battery in xperia Z.

What charger are you using? If the 1500 mah wall charger that came with it, then it should charge just fine.
If some other charger thats rated lower, then you'll end up using more power.
When I got my GPS working and screen set to 100%, my phone uses 800-900mah or so. My 760mah car charger is hardly able to keep up with it.

The 'out the box' charger will charge the phone in its sleep state pretty quickly, however if you start using it (which isn't recommended might I add) you'll use more juice than the charger supplies pretty easily. Things like gaming or music will drain the battery quicker than it charges.
So try this...
Turn your screen brightness right the way down
Avoid gaming or music, or play music through a BT speaker/headphones
Turn off your internet connections
and finally....buy a better charger

Time to charge the phone

Hi,
how long do your XZs need to charged? I got a 3m usb cable to charge my phone using the docking station and have the feeling it was taking longer than before. Currently it charged 50% in 1h 40min.
I hope it isn't bad for battery health

How are you charging the phone? Via USB 2.0 on a computer OR using the supplied Sony charger that came with the phone?
Also, what dock is it?
Sony DK26 dock, Sony charger

If you are charging it via PC via usb 2.0 (black) it will only charge at 500mA which is really slow. If you try a USB 3.0 (blue) slot it charges at 900mA which is faster. If you use the charger that came with the phone it will charge way faster since it's 1.5A (1500mA)
As I already said in my previous post, I'm using the original Sony Charger.
It charged so slow that it must have been about 700mA per hour. I think I'll search for another micro usb cable, that allows me to charge faster

Slow charging is better charging! I use a charger from an older smartphone.. 875mA..
Takes about an hour to get 20-70, another hour for the remaining 30%. But I keep it at 20-80 at most times because most guides told me so .
Over night i plug it to pc. and it actually had 0 to 78 on 5 hours so its pretty slow

Sorry misread that lol. I don't know why the USB cord sony supplied can't be longer? My SGS3 cable was way longer and i liked that. I wonder if a usb extension would be a better choice since the original cable is really good quality....

Interesting, I have a 1.5m USB cable (not the sony) and using the OEM sony charger it will just barely charge my Z. So maybe my issue is the cable length.. I'll try it with the sony USB cable tonight to see if this fixes my problem.

Xperia Z - Charges very slow or not at all on OEM charger

I'm not sure how many of you are using the stock OEM charger that comes with the Z. I''ve been using a generic 5v USB wall charger which I've used on many many phones for a while but a few nights ago I decided to use the Sony Z OEM charger (which comes in the box) and put my Z on charge over night.
In the morning I noticed, that the OEM charger only charged my Z about 5% extra over 7-8 hours while I was sleeping. However if I use any other USB charger, or connect it to my laptop or desktop PC, it charges very quick - I plugged it into my work PC this morning and it was full in less than an hour...
Anyone else out there having a similar experience? Its almost as if the stock OEM charger is underpowered, or faulty...
I would suggest you have a faulty charger as my OEM unit is very quick to charge from the wall.

Anddd there is a catch. There is something I've noticed. If the phone gets hot, phone doesn't charge at all, even it's connected to the charger.
So while playing a game or browsing via 3G/Wifi, phone stops charging.
But while normal texting and stuff it keeps getting charged
In my opinion, Sony has done a great job for keeping the hardware safe at any cost.

Actually I solved the problem today. I have a Nillkin hard case on my Z. Its an awesome case, but the design of it prevents me from inserting the Micro USB into the slot 100%, so it was probably popping out during the night..
I need to find a slim fit Micro USB cable now... All the ones in my house are too big! Alternatively I will have to mod the case.

Charger + usb cable and current monitoring

I lost my xperia z' s charger and so I brought a samsung note 2 original charger, since it is a 2000mA charger it can charge xz faster than its original cahrger ( xz can support 2 - 2.1 A charging current at max), and then due to loss of my usb cable along with the charger, I bought a 1.5 mts china cable. Ofcourse it do the charging, but its charging time is slower than what I get using a 1 mt high gauge nokia cable.
So this is what I learned, to get proper charging, we need to use original charger and a good quality high gauge usb cable too.
But since I wanted a lengthy cable of about 1.5-2 mts, I am going to buy a high gauge lengthy cable. Now here is my question;
Do anybody knows an app which realy works on xperia z which can detect the charging current properly?? I tried current widget, samsung charging current apps, and few others, all those apps shows some random numbers which changes randomly ( eg :- 300,206,540,750) , some does shows -ve values also, which totaly make no sense since I am plugged into a 2A charger!!
Thanks in advance.

Try Android Tuner app by 3c(available on playstore)
In app>>battery manager>>status shows the battery flow also the current capacity and a lot of other info
Also a negative value does makes sense...once your battery is fully charged the current flow is "cut-off" to prevent overcharging the battery and eventually damaging it.
If you feel that I've helped you in anyway, please hit the thank button

I already have that, think its not correct, coz I used a 2amp charger, ( note the charging current) this is why I asked. I think the stock kernel is not reporting it correctly???

About charging (strange...)

I bought dock dk31 and Magnetic charger they working ok before.
But now both charger not charging
When in charge the light does go red
But just not charging.even battery drain

Now only way to charge is using usb charge.(sorry for my English)

A friend of mine had the same issue. The cause was that his cable was somehow broken.
Also check if your magnet charging cable is really mounted on the phones magnet dock. It already happened to me that my phone was in a state where it shows that it's charging but still drained battery. Readjusting it a little helped me.
Thanks for reply
I did adjust every time when try to charge
But samething.
It happened after one night I forgot to charge my phone and battery drain out
I wake up morning try to charge the phone but can't chagre then i hard reset chagre it again.it work again but i was using usb charger. Since that my both dock charger and Magnetic not work

No, if phone is limited to use 1.5 it will drain only 1.5 no matter of how much strong charger you connect it to.

You probably mean 2A (or 2000mA).
I don't know if 2mA will work though.. Maybe you will need to charge it while it's off, and it will still take a few days (weeks maybe?) to fully charge.
