It seems Sky Map locates itself by WiFi if on, but off it gets lost with no GPS. Rooted NC gets SkyMap, and you can bring up Soft Keys which will give you a menu to set your location, Long. and Lat.

I am not sure of the point of this post but I was playing with mock location today and trying to get MLB at bat to spoof my location in order to play the games during Saturday Blackout.
I tried more than 5 apps and from market and all forced close or did not spoof correctly for MLB at Bat except one. DummyLocations by arcshaft works. I am not sure if it is good for other stuff as the market only gives it 3 stars but for MLB at Bat it is the only one that worked on the NC to play blackout MLB games. It also worked to play the games on my DInc.

Is there any way I can get asphalt 5 working on the slide? My sister has a g2 and she has the game and its my favorite android game yet, but the slides screen isn't the right size or something to play it. Is there some way I can play it?

Not really, sorry bud. You can mess with the pixel density on your phone a bit to try to get it to fit, but it'll never be perfect. You can find it in build.prop and just push.
Tried changing density but couldnt get it to work, one thing about changing density that I thought was weird is that the rom manager app's icon changes. Its so wierd lol!
The game makers are too lazy to make a lower res one, only asphalt 3 was made for our res. here are racing games that work on the Slide:
-NFS shift
-reckless racing
-raging thunder 1/2
The Answer to your problems
hey dude i have a LOT of games (HD) working on my slide! just go to this site and download freely! None of these are viruses i have downloaded the vast majority of them, played them, and can verify functionality! word of caution, though, i STRONGLY recommend you have either a Froyo or Sense rom with data2ext (i use 3rd Sense Rom in the devs forums) becuz for some odd reason, CyanogenMod will not run them. for example, on Sims 3, i tried running it, and it would show the little EA logo w/ the (sims) diamond above it, and just exit to the homescreen! no force close message or anything! but anyways the games on this site were resized to HVGA (mytouch slide sized) screens and, like i sed, fully functioning! all you need is a mouse and a web browser that translates the page (i.e. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) have fun with your new games
Tell me your must have apps (apps, Games, Widgets, Wallpapers, etc.)
Airhid
Xscope
Es task manager
Root explorer
Launcher pro
weather channel widget
Moon phase widget
Bluegps
Vegan rom
loopback file system
Adfree
angry birds
Steam birds
Spagetti and marshmallows
Tank hero
Wifi analyzer
Gtech net tools
Too many to list but if you get all that working you have a rocking tab.
I installed vegan on top of tnt light, need to wipe but things run smooth enough... amazingly fast with xscope and the loopback mod.
Thanks....
Hey.. How did you get Tank Hero? Cant find it in the Market.
Thanks

Quake III!
Google Kwaak3 for details. Fun to put together and run on Vegan 5.
The weirdest thing is market was horked after adding the loop file system at that time I was running tnt, so with nothing to lose I installed vegan. Now I have much more market but there is no telling how much I am missing. Last time I searched TV.com I had 15 results now I get two. Lots of the trouble is probably Google.

No guarantees, but I've been messing with market, and I just got tank hero. I used Titanium backup and cleared data for market then for googleservicesframework, then started market, and bam. It was there!
Again, no guarantees!

It was frustrating me so I modified the build.prop and changed the fingerprint to the galaxy tab. Now I have tank heros. Lost tv.com but seem to have much more. I also noticed that some games are fitting the screen better.the biggest benefit I see I don't get the retry any more.

Have you figured out a way to control the game on the g-tab? I'm in-game, but all I can do is look around (no keyboard=no WASD to move). Thanks!

I'm using wii remote with nunchuck controller. I suppose you could use a usb or bluetooth keyboard and mouse though. The wii controls take a little getting used to, but the game runs really well and shows off open gl on the nvidia chip!

Thanks BitBanger! Using the wii controller is a great idea. Although I will admit that I was hoping someone had created a touchscreen overlay for kwaakk3!
I don't know why - but every time I get another gadget, I immediately want to see it run Monkey Island (probably because it is the one game that can almost define my childhood)...luckily, the Gear does it pretty well! I was able to side load ScummVM, but like some other side loaded apps, it wants to run in landscape, which doesn't work well for a watch. Well - I found Rotation Locker (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20718991) which turned out to be a really useful app for the Gear. It enables the ability to force orientation to portrait, so it can be useful for any apps on the Gear that want to go landscape...
I've also played around with some other SCUMM based games and get a kick out of playing them on such a tiny device...I remember my cousin with his 286 in 1991 being so excited because he just bought an 8 bit sound blaster (for something like a hundred and fifty bucks) so we could actually hear the audio on Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island. Amazing that we had $2,000 computers and were amazed how they ran these games that we can now run on a watch.
The only shortcoming is that the save option in ScummVM is initiated with the menu button, which the Gear does not have. A workaround I found is that you can setup 5 minute auto saves - not the best option, but it works.
So...anyone that wants to check out some classic point-and-click games on the Gear should definitely give ScummVM a try!
So I have one of the $49 Kindle Fires and I have successfully installed Google Play, Play Services, Account Managements, and Services Framework and gotten everything to work. One of the games my kids enjoy playing is Disney Crossy Road. I know this is in the Amazon App Store, but one of the issues with it being in Amazon is they don't save progress, plus I use my account across my kids devices. If I make each kid a Google account, they have their own cloud save for the game. I got this all working on my daughter's Fire and it syncs with her Google Play account.
We just recently purchased my son one of the $49 Kindle Fires and I tried to do the same thing for him. I used Method #2 found here: lifehacker[dot]com/how-to-get-google-play-on-a-kindle-fire-and-install-any-1790706649 to install Google Play on his Kindle. I have installed 4 games from Google Play on his Kindle including Tiny Tower, Township, and Disney Crossy Road. I have the settings to allow non-Amazon apps to run. Tiny Tower and Township sync up with his Google Play account with no problem. But his Disney Crossy Road does not sync with Google Play. Google Play says it is installed and I can click the Play button from it and it will open the app, but none of the achievements pop, and when I open it on my daughter's Kindle, in the settings, there is a button with the gamepad icon to show it's synced. I cannot get this icon to show on my son's Fire. I have reinstalled the app 4-5 times and rebooted the tablet. I even tried downloading the app from apkmirror.com to see if that would help, but I cannot get it to work.
Are there any suggestions on how I can get Disney Crossy Road to sync with Google Play? Thanks for your help!
"Google Play" is a whole suite of different apps, not all of which are installed by default when you sideload the "Google Play Store".
Open up the Google Play Store, and search for "Google Play Games". Install that, and see if your games start syncing then?
EDIT: This is what I'm talking about:

If you can't install Google Play Games from the Play Store (-505 error) grab a copy from APKMirror and sideload.

Wow, I swore I responded yesterday but I also have Google Play Games installed. I am able to see his achievements for other games through this, that is how I know his other games are syncing properly. Any other ideas?

Not at the individual app level - sorry.
So I was playing around with this a little more and went into the Google Settings app. Inside here, there is a link for the Connected Apps section and I noticed Disney Crossy Road is not here. Any ideas if there is a way through here that I can try to enable the connection?
Thanks again!

The app must request access (typically on initial launch)...and you must grant it. There is no mechanism for auto-authorization or forcing a manual request (obvious acuity implications).
So I got it to work last night! I don't know which of the two things did it, but I reinstalled the app again but this time in game, I set his age to 18. Then from Google Play, I said I wanted to record in game footage. After playing the intro level, it synced with Google Play. For my daughter's Fire,I put her actual age and it worked. That's why I'm not sure which change fixed it, but now it works! Thanks for your help and suggestions!
I picked up a Fire 10 HD 2017 version, and followed guides here to add Google Play (and other 3 associated APK files), which works great. - I was able to installed several Google apps and other apps from the Google Play store.
However, I have hit a roadblock with YouTube TV (not regular YouTube) - Google's streaming TV service. They have a free trial if anyone wants to test this out, but I get an error screen on launch that says "We can't determine your device's location" - and I can't get it to load. All the settings for Location-Based Services are toggled on (overall and specific to the app, and all apps). I have tried with option for Google Play as a Device Administrator both checked and unchecked. Google Maps detects my location and works fine. I am not running any VPN or similar apps, so this is purely GPS based. Tried to use a fake GPS location app (and allow that in developer settings) but that didn't help.
From what I have read, others have had GPS problems - some sort of conflict between the Amazon GPS and the Google GPS expectations. Something about "AGPS" being limited in some ways on the Fire 10 HD.
Has anyone seen this issue and found a workaround or solution? Could be for a related app maybe. I was also unable to get streams to play in the Chrome browser, which would be a fine workaround, so I need something to work here. One of the main purposes of a tablet for me will be YouTube TV. Thanks - appreciate any help.
I'm having the same issue with the Hulu app and the Maps app that comes with the Fire HD 10. I installed Google Play Store and Google Maps (using the APKs like you). Google Maps didn't work at first, however after DISabling the tablet's location services and trying Google Maps again, I got a prompt for enabling current location for Google to which I clicked on yes. Now Google Maps is working!! Sadly, the generic Maps app and Hulu are still not working. Have you had any more luck?
P.S. after speaking with an Amazon tier 2 support rep, they said they are going to get in touch with a developer and get Hulu working. I'll believe it when I see it!
