I also saw that thing on many chinese android tablets ... volume button, home button back button ...

Why to do that if you have dedicated keys? It was created to bypass only one key on iphone.

Thank you for your replay ...
On iphone i know the "lack of keys" problem ... But chinese tablets have all keys ... and also the shortcuts in the status bar ... I only want the home shortcut, because it's more comfortable to press on the touchscreen than on the button ...

It could be ported but other users will see no point in that

I thought it was already ported for some other devices, and somebody would know how to do it ... Thank you

For those who need this solution I suggest the app Home Button on Play Store, it puts an icon on statusbar to go to home screen.

I believe Switch Pro has that feature. But you need root for that.

No option for shutdown.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
try quick boot works for me has options for
reboot, recover or bootloader.. but not shutdown
there are a lot of apps that do reboot, Toolbox, toolbox to name a few that i actually have, but that's a good question for the shutdown.
Hmmmm, I searched high and low and found one hopefully, over at android forums. Gotta register first then i'll have a look later.

How do you disable capacitive buttons on Jelly Bean roms?

Alright here's the deal, I got the semi common problem with these phones of the search button freaking out occasionally and I know about the cypress.kl file mod that works on ICS an GB but if I do that on JB noting happens, I love the Hellybean rom but I can't use it with my phone popping up the search thing every 5 seconds. Thanks.
I have exactly the same issue with my captivate. I didn't find any solution yet.
Yeah I've gone as far as opening every file in that keylayout folder and deleting everything about button 217 or the search button but all I can ever manage to do is either break the vibrate on key press or make it so none of the buttons work including my power button

The most recent helly bean has that option you are looking for! Just added today...

Care to share about ur actual nexus 7 screen resolution?cause mine is 800*1205 in pot

Wait wut ? anw how to know ?
Sent from my HTC One X
The navigation keys are part of the screen. Screen resolution is 800*1280 (there is exactly that many pixels, otherwise, where would nav keys be displayed)?
Apps can utilize full screen by hiding navigation keys, like MX player for example.
But nav bar is running not as an app, but as some deep system process, so it doesn't crash when some app crashes or something, that's why apps like night mode and apps that tell you screen resolution don't affect or take into consideration the nav bar.
Thanks very much!!

[SOLVED]Permanent "MENU" button in navigation bar.

now, i'm stuck with lights-out only displaying 3-dots instead of the supposed new 4-dots
not sure if it's only on navigation_bar.xml only or due to other things

What you mean by "close app on KK"?
Just press back button on navigation bar and if you want to kill apps from recents press third button on navigation bar and swipe them away...
