Hi, i have just updated my galaxy s to the latest gingerbread rom using odin 1.7 and all was ok with that bit. But when the phone rebooted i got an error saying UIDs on the system are inconsistant, you need to wip your data partiton or your device will be unstable. i click the im feeling lucky button and it goes in to gmail process stopped unexpectedly force close, my uploads is the same as well. and if i try to run any app its does the same. Even the setup wizard forces close when i try and set it up the it goes in to a reboot loop. i have tried to factory reset by tiping in the number on the dail pad and going in to recovery mode all to no avail. i have tried reflashin with older roms eg 2.1 2.2 but this makes it worse. has anyone got any clues to help me????
Thanks

But just incase how can i tell if i have?
Dont know if this helps but
I have managed to get Dark Core Recovery - By Ficeto on my phone i have formatted /system /data /cache /sdvard /sd-ext Although it looks like its done bugger all. i have done a wipe/factory reset wipe cache but no avail...also wiped Dalvik repartitioned SD for 512mb and a swap file of 256mb. also fixed permissions. I could really do with a hand as i feel naked with out my phone lol....
Here is a 3 file 2.1 rom if you want to try it.
It's DTJG4 which is an Australian eclair build, but may get you out of trouble.
Flash it with a 512 pit and re-partition as previously suggested.

I'll upload again.. I'll post a link in a few minutes.
You can try this one. It's a self extracting 7zip file, so that's why it's an .exe.

What about EFS.....
Odin 1.7 is the wrong flashing program for the i9000 you should be using v1.0, 1.3 or 1.8.
The numerous versions of odin are version specific and you need to be using the correct one for your phone type.

Okay, what lagfix could you possibly use than? Mimocans? If yes - than the method is same. Flash 2.1 and apply mimocans kernel. If something else that converts, shifts data than also the same.
If OCLF - it is unimportant, it is deleted during flash.

Your only option is to flash back to stock and give it for repair.

than you did the repartition during flash to voodoo - which you shouldnt do. Repartition + flash to 2.1 and flash to 2.2 (use Doc's rom - safer and easier).
i used the oclf and flash with more than one firmware and the same problem

Yea, I got that same message last night when I tried to flash JPM with 512.PT over my already-installed JPM (reasons for doing this are irrelevant).
What you gotta do is;
1 - Download JM8, JPM, Odin 1.3, 512.PIT and 803.PIT
2 - Flash JM8 with 512.PIT - select Re-partition option
3 - Once it's done and booted all the way to TW, go to recovery and wipe cache and factory reset
4 - Flash JPM with 803.PIT - make sure Re-partition option is NOT selected
5 - Once it's done and booted all the way to TW, go to recovery and wipe cache and factory reset
That worked for me
You can find all these files, flashing instructions, and booting to recovery instructions all over this forum.
Good luck, champ.
it does not work thank u
ive tried fixing this for the past 2weeks but no luck..
If anyone could help me with this im willing to give bounty.
Flashed with different roms but no luck..sir hardcore told me to flash dxjpa which is suitable rom for my country but no luck again.
Basically the problem is i can do a hard/factory/cmw mode reset of my galaxy s but when i reboot it, apps everything are still there in my internal sd..
And its bombarding the phone with lots of force closing apps.
Im try the cmw mode of reformating the system but no luck unmounting it gives me an error..
Ive tried to reformat thou the data/cache and internal sd it gives me the success but when i reboot the phone it hangs in the galaxy s logo..
Im also trying to repartition the internal sd but no luck also in cmw mode.
My bluetooth is also force closing
i cant use it any more.
I cant do/put update.zip in intermal sd..
Everytime i put it using masstorage and applying it in cmw mode it vanishes.
Apps that i delete come back whenever i reboot.
But the phone is still working, manage to apply hardcores speedmod kernel..
Any help will be very much appreciated..and a bounty ofcoures.
50$....i think the problem is the partition of internal sd anf the 2gig rom for apps..whenever im trying to install new app first 15mins its running ok..after that it force closes.

Well you need to flash a new firmware with odin.
Do use pit 512 and for tick re-partition.
Then go into recovery when the phone start. It should do that once after the flash.
When the phone reboot pull the battery fast.
Then put it back in and go to recovery mode.
Now format the internal sdcard . Do a factory reset.
Do wipe the catch and format the internal sdcard again.
Now reboot.
You have lost all of your data, but all should work.

sir its still the same followed your instruction.
when i format internal sd it says:
formating internal sd
updating media:
updating media finished:
it didnt say that it is formated..
why is that?
when it reboots all apps that must not be there are still intact
but cannot be open as it force closes..
im wondering also why is my bluebooth not functioning it force closes also.
dont know what to do any more..
not sure if this would help you .. but i was getting the infamous "cant mount /dev/block/stl11" errors everywhere ..
to fix the partitions i flashed my phone with the PDA and Modem files from the JM8 firmware and the CSC file from JPU along with the 512.pit via Odin with reflash ticked.. you could always try that

As i undrstand you want to formate the internal sd card but you cant, if you have root explorer installed then check the permission of one of the folder in sd card it might be read only. You can check thus through adb but i dont know it. If it is read only than changd it to write as well than try to delete folder.

ok here it is..
flash to stock rom dxjf4 partition ticked..
flash again diff rom pda without partition dxjpa..in recovery mode reboot pull batery fast and put it back. recovery mode format internal sd/ factory reset/wipe date cache and format internal sd again..then reboot..
ok done..
waiting...still apps are force closing..try factory reset.. still apps are there..
flash again to stock rom same procedure..then to jm8 pda (trying diff pda's)
after flashing e: cant mount dev/block/j11o
cant flash with jm8 pda that error occurs.
ive been using the stock rom for the meantime..dont know what to do anymore.
cant reformat my internal sd card..
apps are keep coming back.

Recovery is working, But i do have the error here : " Your storage is not prepared yet etc etc etc.."
And download mode also working...
Is there any rom that I can put ?
if you can get download mode working you can flash another ROM thru Odin, start of on a stock ROM then work your way back to a custom ROM if thats what u want.

I've got the same problem. Phone boots in both download and Recovery mode, but it cannot access internal SD since it was formatted in Ext4 by the lagfix (yes, I forgot to bring it back before using Odin).
Is there any way to solve this without sending the phone to Samsung?

Edit: all worked no worries anymore
Hi. I recently tried to update my rom to on from the rom kitchen and something didnt work. so after waiting 1.5h on the boot screen i opened clockwork and tried to restore a backup I made right before flashing. The thing is that what ever I do I always end up booting into clockwork again.
I did not disable lagfix prior to first flash and now I cant because it reboots to clockwork.
Anyone have an idea, or solution? Can I install another rom through odin with my ext4 lagfix on?
in clockwork do a factory reset and also clear cache and so on.
go and flash a stock rom thru odin from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846913 and then start all over again
providing you have download mode you should be ok
Thanks!
Are you shure that I can flash a stock rom on a ext4 filesystem? everyware I read thay say I must disable lagfix before start
If you want to return to RFS by default just flash a stock ROM and then do a wipe/factory reset into Recovery 3e.....it should work (it works for me! XD)!
Should re partition be on in odin?
only if you have all 3 files, if not dont use pit or re partition. flashing a stock will erase the ext4 and convert back to rfs so dont fret about that.
ideally you would want a 3 file firmware so you can re partition but most firmwares now only come in 1 file, so you may need to dig a little deeper if the 1 file doesnt fix your problem. i've never had to use a 3 file firmware so i couldnt direct you to one sorry.
if you really want the 3 file + pit + repartition on samfirmware.com there is the JS3 in Yellow.....it's the 3 file rom with pit and repartition!!

I can use the Odic OCD to return to stock 2.1 firmware no problem. However I can ONLY use the final-REV0 version of the Odin OCD. I have another version but it doesn't work. It will run through the downloading screen, download the files say PASS! and then it won't go past the AT&T globe boot screen. I don't understand why this is happening? Also if I root the phone (which is always successful) load up CWM and try to install a custom ROM, it does the same thing.
stay with what works for you, since cappy has different build numbers.

for the custom roms clear dalvik cache.
also there are 2 ocd versions one is a froyo internal beta and is buried somewhere deep in the pages of the development section so any reference to ocd is assumed to be the 2.1 jf6 version. other than that it is not a ocd(one click downloader) but is a full version of odin.
you should have odin3 v1.7 for flashing the captivate if you choose not to use the one click version. also dont click repartition if you dont have the pit file in place. and if you have the pit file and you select repartition you need to make sure you are not flashing a rom that lacks .rfs images for data or dbdata or other.

Here is what I did, step by step.
Bought my phone 3 months ago
Opened I897UCJF6-final-OCD-REV0 version of ODIN OCD.
Held down volume buttons
Plugged in phone
Booted to download.
Hit start button in I897UCJF6-final-OCD-REV0 version of the ODIN OCD
Waited for the phone to reboot, I didn't even touch the phone until it was done, and in ECLAIR.
Phone info shows:
Firmware version:
2.1-update1
Baseband version:
I897UCJF6
Kernel version:
2.6.29
[email protected] #2
Build number:
ECLAIR
Went into settings, and turned on Debug
Ran Master clear in I897UCJF6-final-OCD-REV0 version of ODIN OCD.
Restart phone
Boot into recovery
Root phone....successful
Boot into recovery
Load CWM (it's weird though, after I loaded into the recovery menu and hit re-install packages instead of jumping straight into CWM it restarted the phone, I had to go back into recovery and hit re-install packages again, and then it loaded CWM)
Install .zip from SD
Choose .zip form SD
Install Serendipity.zip
Install ran
(IN CWM)
Go back
Go back
Reboot phone (select)
Phone shuts off, turns on, shows ATT globe screen, and won't go any farther. I have let it sit for 3 hours once. Nothing. I can no longer go into recovery, but I CAN go to Download. This process has been going on for the last day and a half. I have tried different ROMs and even tried going to GB. Am I really stuck with a rooted 2.1 ECLAIR Cappy? Even though when I bought the phone it had Froyo on it?

I know. It's very frustrating. I want to run GB, and I can't. I am stuck with 2.1 Eclair! I don't know what to do.

why can you not run GB?

The four digits below S/N?
If so, it's 1007.
All of my problems seem to be related to zImage. I deleted the zImage file that comes in the Updates folder of Serendipity, and the phone actually tried to boot. It tried to do its thing (what a ROM will normally do the first time it boots) but I got an error (I expected it, but I now know that all of my problems are related to the zImage file. My phone will accept and use the one with ODIN OCD, but nothing else.
zimage is your kernel, in case you didnt know.

Ok. Well that explains why I can't load any other Kernels. Is there anything I can do without updating to a different Kernel?
Anyone have any thoughts at all? I'm still having this problem.
