I was in 2.3.3 and i wanted to install MIUI so i installed Froyo(but kept the bootloader from JVK) then i followed all steps and everything went well until i came to the last part(installing MIUI.zip with CWM) when i went into recovery, CWM dosen't respond if i try to do anything the menu disapperes and all i got is the background image(the orange hat), i tried the procedure twice and always got the same problem. Any ideas?
flash back to froyo, with a froyo bootloader and start again.
follow the instructions exactly and you shouldnt go wrong.

thanks, i'll give it a try
I installed a FROYO bootloader and still the same, any help??
I also had problems. You really have to follow instructions to the letter. It will make it work for sure
well after watching the video i got it to work, all i was doing wrong was instead of pressing the "power" button in recovery i was pressing the "home button", feel kind of stupid for that

I just flashed a battery mod on my galaxy s.
But i think i downloaded the Wrong one!!! When i did a reboot, the process 'android.phone' stopped working. Mmmm.. OK.
Tried a factory reset through the 3 button menu. Well now it does not do anything, i can see the boot movie, but then i get a Black screen with an heartbeat on the vibration thingy.
I did not panic and tried to flash an other firmware. Well it did not work. I see the boot movie, but then the screen blacks out and nothing works......
I searched for this, but i didnt get a good answer on how to solve this.
So if anyone is kind enough to help me, and tell me what to do in simple steps.
The same here. I used version D for JP6 & the 2nd method.
I had to reflash the softwear.
Exact same problem with me, had to reflash. Could someone tell the guy who has the battery mod thread?

1st. You need to flash a fresh firmware I suggest a official one so you can download the latest JP6 from kies without knifing the registry. you can get those firmwares from http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-i9000.htm but you need to register first. And here are the intructions how to flash http://samsunggalaxysforums.com/sho...and-and-flash-newer-firmware-to-your-Galaxy-S
2nd. After a succesfull flash go to recoverymode (shut down device, hold: vol-up, home and power)
wipe cache and do a factory reset just incase, and boot your device.
3rd. Install JP6 through Kies
edit:
BTW im a noob who did just this after i messed my phone to a state like mentioned in op So i dont take any responsibility about any damage you do to your phone. I did something like this and now i have official JP6 inside my sgs and its flying
Hi all,
Tried to flash ICS 4.0.3. Had flashed CM7 and it was working fine but the flash was purely so I could put ICS on, installed the zip through CWM but now it is bootlooping. I see the Galaxy S original bootscreen then what I am presuming is the custom ICS bootscreen then alot of CWM text with the android robot then the android robot dead with a phone through his chest
I have tried removing the battery a couple of times.
I am a bit of a newbie so any help is much appreciated
What shouls I do?
BTW I can get to download mode so flashing through odin is always a last resort but if ICS is redeemable then thats much preferred!
Josh, you didn't listen to my advice on your last post did you?????
I'm too drunk now, hopefully someone will be able to help you.
However if I were you, I'd pull the battery, get back into recovery, flash ics again and then it should boot fine. This has happened every time I have flashed ics and is well documented in the threads.
And next time read up some more before flashing.

Could not figure out how to get back into recovery mode and I needed a quick fix so I reflashed Darky via Odin as I had the files handy, I may try ICS again another time.
Thanks anyway.

When your phone is Boot looping like that, just press and hold Vol up + Home + power for about 10 seconds. The phone will then restart into Recovery. From there reflash the ICS build again.
Have been told on another forum that it is fine to go straight from any GB rom to ICS simply by flashing the kernel then the rom then again the kernel. So I could therefore go straight from 10.2 RE to ICS?
Is this true as it seems to contradict the guide in OneCosmic's post?
Whatever Rom I flash, I always follow that particular Dev's instructions. That way you avoid Boot Loops or Force Close errors!
How long should the initial boot of ICS take? Successfully flashed it (I think) but it seems to be on the fancy moving panel bootscreen thing for quite a long time. Is this normal?
Edit: Up and running, thanks to everyone who helped
Could not download from the market so I read around and noticed it was a common problem and that you neede to wipe data/factory reset now I am stuck in a bootloop and cannot get into recovery mode is there an exact way to press and release the buttons or is it a case of: take out battery, vol up home and power and just hold?
I find my newly purchased tab 8.9 very laggy with the stock TouchWiz
Before returning it I wanted ti try the Overcome rom to see if it can get any smoother.
I carefully followed there instructions but I am unable to go past the downloading droid. once I validate with the right button volume, the tablet simply reboots.
Does anyone else have this issue?

Let me get this right: you sucessfully flashed Overcome, and want to ODIN but when you try to get in Download Mode, it reboots, is that it? If so, that's the first time I've heard this issue. How are you trying to enter Download Mode?

I see. The Overcome thread also has the CWM Recovery as a .zip file which is flashable through Stock Recovery (same procedure as flashing Root). You just put the file in your internal SDcard and flash away. If you still have doubts, read a little bit here, as I'm sure that will clear any doubts you might have.

Perfect it worked! And I was also able to install the Overcome ROM It seems to be more battery hungry and a bit faster

Yes I have done that and I get to the menu with the droid blinking with "downloading" written under it. The issues is when I validate instead of showing the dowload menue it simply reboots...

Don't expect perfection from a port, ever (port = a ROM that's not native to the device). The motley kernel, along with UV can help you in the battery department.

Sorry to comeback to it but after having flashed a couple or ROM with CWM I want to come back to the stock rom using ODIN and I cannot enter the dowload menu.
My system right now is a stock ROM us retail P7310UEKHA flashed with CWM and CWM and I want to install a 3.2 stock ROM using ODIN.
The way I try to access the download menu is
1. Turn off the tab
2. wait 30 sec
3. restart with the down volume pressed
4. when the reaching the menu between recovery and dowloading. Select dowloading with the down volume button and validate with the up volume button.
Result: a black screen for 3 seconds and then the tab reboots

A corrupt bootloader that may be. Reflash KHA (CWM version alterbridge posted) to see if it solves it.

Thanks lupu666ro. I've tried installing stock Rom with CMW but nothing works. I have found very sparse info about nvflash. It looks like the solution but I'm a bit wary about tring this without a instructions. Could give me more info or point me to a tutorial
Thanks!
Still no luck...
So I have tried reflashing the stock US retail ROM and ran the EULA3 OTA update over it. I can't seem to figure this out.
The OTA update entered the download mode for a few seconds during the update so I am wondering if I don't simply have a locked bootloader.
I have made a video to show the problem: http://youtu.be/b09-x31ldbs

On the download warning screen you are hitting volume down, not up. Volume up is the button closest to the headphone jack..

No idea but FYI thats a unsafe kernel Hope you read the OPs instructions or your likely to end up with a brick.
^^ Copy that. Be very careful now. I guess you should first revert to GB if your recovery is opening and you have all the pre requisites. Once upon a time , when I used to be in the Touchwiz craze I faced something like this while installing RocketROM. I reverted back to GB n went ahead again. and it worked fine. But refer to your OP that what he has to say about it. GB revert is the last option which you can safely end up with.
I couldnt check with OP since i cannot post in his thread.
Anyhow, the phone boot loops and i cant get into CWM recovery by press Vol Down, Home and Power - that would bring me to download mode. However, i don't know the exact steps to take from there and need some advice to prevent being a bricked note statistics.

If you can get into download mode, then I suppose the safest way is to flash through PC Odin any of the already-rooted or directly-rootable ROMs in dr Ketan's post.
GO HERE
That's what I'd do, but do hold on for a second opinion.

Maybe i read your post wrong but from what i gather you say you cant get into CWM by pressing vol down home key and power button? if i read that right then the reason you cant get into it and its bringing you to download mode is because CWR is, Vol up Home key and power button,
Vol up= CWM
Vol down= Download
So, I've managed to restore my phone to Rocket V2. But, there are problems which still exists. Firstly, i couldnt install (or rather, it installed, but wasn't shown) the RR2 theme. Further, i read in the thread that some people had luck with Abyss 3.9 or lower, but after flashing 4.2 and V2, it is impossible for me to install 3.9.
Is there some writing problem that i'm seeing?

Check if you still have full root. Try to paste a file into the system folder.
Nope, tried to create a folder using Root Browser but wouldnt allow me to do so. I selected SSU and states the SUBinary unable to update. I, however, am able to restore apps from TB
