It is very easy to obtain a KDZ image of the roms from the LG servers...
Smartflash is way easier.
Yes, but I can obtain the KDZ images directly from LG Servers without problems, and the smartflash format not.
I suppose too (I'm not sure) that with the KDZ formats I can UPDATE (without wipe) the ROM.

I have a FIDO LGP990hn which I had updated to Gingerbread from an unbranded .kdz using kdz updater and it worked fine. I then decided to go back to Stock Rom and used smartflash to flash back to stock now there is a new kdz for FIDO LGP990 and kdz updater won't install it using the lg update tool saying this model is not supported and if I use KDZ updater directly the program on windows crashes. Is there any other program I can use to update a kdz file.
I am using Windows 7 64bit and unfortunately no one in my house has Windows XP for me to test it on.
Would really appreciate some help and any other options in updating.
VM Ware + WinXP?
hi,
I have bought a KU5900 (Korean LG P970). At factory mode, it is Froyo. I try to upgrade it via CMW but it can't mount sdcard.
I tried smartflash and now it can run well. However, about 5GB internal sdcard was lost. It disappeared. I had to put an 8GB external micro-card for storage.
Any solution to take the internal sdcard back? My LG is KU5900, not P970.
Thanks
When you flashed your phone with smart flash did u used a proper firmware or you used one for p970? if you used a 970 the firmware doesn't recognize that extra space.

I am using firmware for P970, however, when I upgrade v20L (for KU5900) by KDZ updater, it also couldn't recognize the space. I don't know how to extract kdz files to flashable files for smartflash.
Do you know how to?

Thank you very much. I have extracted the kdz successfully. But the BIN file is about 667MB, it's too big. Is it error?
Yes it seems to be too big, the p970 .BINs are around 410 MB. Maybe it works only for P970 kdzs or the korean .bins are bigger? You should ask in the LGextract thread.
Meanwhile you can try to extract a P970 firmware to compare. Firm from here: http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=1

I know there are some threads here for flashing KDZ (rom) files, but just sharing this information for newbies who can easily understand the simple language and screenshots.
This LG ROM KDZ flashing guide is there since around 3 months time and working well. I have used this for my three LG phones I own. Many a times, I flashed KDZ files on LG Optimus 2x (P990) at least 10 times or more with the help of this guide.
Though this guide is created in LG L9 thread it is applicable for all all LG phones for which KDZ files are released.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085344
The method explained in this guide is "Flashing with Offline Fix", that means LG Update Tool is fooled by a small web-server app and flashing continues ahead with a file on your computer, instead of downloading from internet.
Thought I should share it here also. Please have a look and give feedback.
How can I revert my LG 2X back to stock? Currently running CM10 with the new bootloader. I have found multiple threads about this but I'm afraid to brick my phone because there all outdated.
Can someone provide me with a step-by-step guide thats more up-to-date?
Thanks very much.
Well you won't get that kind of guide, cuz only small part of users still using p990 (my guess) got back to stock, so all the guides are a bit outdated but shouldn't brick your device. Saying it short, use the old guides

Easy method:
Use smartflash to install an old baseband like 20S. Then use LG update tool to flash the latest stock for your region. Alternate, use AIO tool to flash both baseband and stock. You will need to download .kdz file and extract it to fls and bin file in AIO tool prior to flashing. Fls are baseband and bin are the rom
i am in need of the link to download the latest lollipop firmware on lg g2 verizon brand in TOT extension. i.e vs9803AA.tot please pals
I have not been able to locate the 3AA TOT file, unfortunately. However, here is a link to the 3AA KDZ if that would help - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24269982087007457
I successfully flashed this KDZ using LG Flash Tool - no issues whatsoever. Good luck!
