hi,
I have bought a KU5900 (Korean LG P970). At factory mode, it is Froyo. I try to upgrade it via CMW but it can't mount sdcard.
I tried smartflash and now it can run well. However, about 5GB internal sdcard was lost. It disappeared. I had to put an 8GB external micro-card for storage.
Any solution to take the internal sdcard back? My LG is KU5900, not P970.
Thanks
When you flashed your phone with smart flash did u used a proper firmware or you used one for p970? if you used a 970 the firmware doesn't recognize that extra space.

I am using firmware for P970, however, when I upgrade v20L (for KU5900) by KDZ updater, it also couldn't recognize the space. I don't know how to extract kdz files to flashable files for smartflash.
Do you know how to?

Thank you very much. I have extracted the kdz successfully. But the BIN file is about 667MB, it's too big. Is it error?
Yes it seems to be too big, the p970 .BINs are around 410 MB. Maybe it works only for P970 kdzs or the korean .bins are bigger? You should ask in the LGextract thread.
Meanwhile you can try to extract a P970 firmware to compare. Firm from here: http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=1

I've noticed a few people looking for Thrill/O3D firmware/baseband for reverting back to stock.

It is also possible that AT&T told LG not to put the kdz file up on their server. I know certain phones that that do not have the stock image allowed to download.

I think that's more likely. Plus I'm actually trying to get stock for as many different 850 UMTS devices since were the redheaded stepchild. I want to try my best for you guys. ;-)

And this is why my next device will be unbranded. I'm not dealing with the shaft again. I'm going to deliver it. I'm going to keep my Thrill for Development, but I'm going to get a Galaxy Tab 7.7 since it supports voice. (And 850 UMTS from the box)

ok. We need ANYONE from brazil with a device that has or was going to update to the Brazil V20a to enter the following link and get us the bin format link back as the bin format firmware is what we need to get JUST the baseband. Elsewise we may need to flash the WHOLE firmware and bin flash downgrade to root and recovery partition. I'd rather not put more people through this headache....

can i help anyway?
If you have a friend with the unbranded p920h, yes. Otherwise we're unfortunately in the same boat with a missing paddle. :-\
Sorry for the double post, but If you flash the V21A euro over it you get the euro baseband. So, we're either struck without root (unless we can convince some root gods to visit us), be lucky enough for an LAM exploitable firmware or have a euro GB bin for the V21A fall into our laps (we could flash it over the V20A LAM). Ugh....
Edit: Note, I'm decent at kernel building but not good at the base level stuff such as rooting. I wish I was....
tell me what file you need?? i download a lot of files and keep in my pc, maybe i have the file that we need.
From what ive read and tried you have to get the cab file from the kdz then open the wdb file but there is no way to open it all the lg utils things require a inf_webdnld.dll that our cab file does not have. I spent most of yesterday trying to open it with no success. But in that wdb there should be files that make up the bb we need
LG Thrill 4G on O3D GB
Exactly. We actually need at this point the bin zip as it had the bin and fls files. Though through downgrading and upgrading, I have a feeling the LAM GB baseband is similar to the froyo basebands. I've bin downgraded and it works with froyo, the LAM GB but not euro GB. I'm also working on the back end with someone on a possible V20a root as well.
any luk wit te bin zip???
Have u tried rooting v20a with superoneclick 2.3.3
LG Thrill 4G on O3D GB
No luck. Tried. Reaching out to someone else to see if there are alternatives.
Hello there, I have some issues with the speaker in my OB, so I need to send it to LG for repairs. My Question is how can I completely revert my OB to Stock (Unroot, Stock Firmwire and removal CWM)
Regards
EDIT: I checked in the The Big N00B how-to! Thread and this referred me to the R&D Test Tool, but they sugest the SMARTFLASHTOOL because those issues with B2C.
So my question is rather, what is the best way to unroot my device so LG has no clue that it has been rooted at the moment?

There is now tools to automatically convert the kdz to bin and fls and inject CWM. Search for P970 ROM converter and get the kdz file from lg-phone-firmware.com

Thanks, although the patched bin download link in getzilla is not working anymore, anyway you can reupload that in mediafire or zippyshare maybe. Thanks.
Patch it yourself, download the kdz and then follow my how to, it's being done in less then 10 minutes...
Thanks man. I was able to root my OB now. I downgraded to Froyo first using Smarttool then rooted with Blackjack. damn gingerbread is hard to root, what more when ics comes. i hope not.
To keep the overview, here the place where you can find all the stock ICS builds made by me.
Flashable CWM versions available (no full wipe required) as well es NVFlash versions (full wipe only).
The CWM versions can only be installed by those already running new unlocked bootloader + CWM.
Essential update November 16:
New NVFlash versions (v28E & v28G) are available.
New features:
fixed bootloader, so Smartflash will work again for everyone
CMW Recovery 6, no more too big font in CWM, also no more /cache errors
fixing sizes of recovery partition and boot partition
NO full wipe required!! New NVFlash version can backup your /data partition and restore later (Internal SD will still be wiped!)
Noob-secure flashing process. Telling the user exactly what to do and asks for confirmation before doing anything.
Stock LG ICS content for internal SD card can be flashed as well (user is asked) - gives some extra music, apps, videos
No more deodexed version. I think odexed works best.
Google Now (Online-version) preinstalled, still about 25 MB free space in /system partition
additional widgets from SU660 preinstalled
the new installation scripts are available for both Windows and Linux (tested by me extensively)
Windows APX driver included (for Linux not needed)
some minor things. A custom kernel by me will come as soon as we get the final kernel sources!
New CWM ZIPs are available as well! Please be aware that they do not upgrade bootloader (=fix of Smartflash Bug), CWM (from 5 to 6) or fix partition sizes for boot and recovery partition (were too small, could cause problems lateron). Only NVFlash version does that. So you might prefer to, as a one-time-upgrade, use NVFlash version. You can, with the new NVFlash versions, backup and restore your /data partition, so your settings and apps won't be lost. Only Internal SD will still be wiped.
The new ICS builds are available in download folder, in subfolder "Second Generation ROMs (improved, recommended)".

Deodexed version of v28G also includes some more widgets (those from the Addon-packages).
You have to read the installation instructions on NVFlash versions and CWM versions in this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1986097 (installation procedures are explained in first post).

Because of the high compression I chose for the archives! Sometimes compression works more effective, sometimes not.
You can believe me that I ONLY removed demo videos (~26 MB) and the Rom updater app and the LG remote controlling app (both together about 2-5 MB or something).
Thanx a ton for your rom Stefan.... its amazing.... can you brief about the advantages of the new V28G over the older version, is it highly recommended to upgrade to the newer one....??

So far I can tell you it has got a new kernel and many updated apps and binaries. I don't know the exact changes though. But upgrade of course is highly recommended! You can make an upgrade without full wipe from my v28E version.
A millions thanks Stefan, downloading now v28g flasheable zip, you're best.
Can someone confirm if smartflash is working with the new bootloader...?? I tried to flash the new V28G baseband but was unable to get the phone in software upgrade mode....
Try to enter smartflash with battery inserted

Smartflash is working again!!!!!
I'm at v28G NVFlash version currently. I just flashed v28G BB with Smartflash.
Can somebody please try if it works for CWM version v28G as well??
If NOT, then you will just have to install the updated recovery image with different CWM. I will soon provide it. I'm not sure yet if the NVFlash bug is related to recovery.img.

The kdz contains multiple images and the baseband. it's not only system image. the kdz contains system.img as well which has the same size.
Might be a silly question, but can anyone tell me, in few words, what the difference is between LGP990_ICS_v28G_Stock_NewBL_Root_CWM_initd_NVFlash.7z
and
LGP990_ICS_v28G_Stock_Root_initd_4CWM-NewBL_NoFullwipe.zip ?
I just want something stock with maximum smoothness, I don't care about flashing new stuff and all that
which is the better ?
-rebuild the phone (install all program and everything) from startup ( nvflash )
-v28e --> cwm --> v28g ?
i wan't a stable, smooth, good working rom without any issue
Are you Angel sent by God for 2x user??

Hello, I'd like to update my phone using Smartflash.
I have an official V20B rom which is rooted. I would like to install a new official rom but i'm completely lost when it comes to choosing the right version !
Where can I get the official V20S stock rom (which can be installed with smartflash)
Also, is there any official ICS rom ? (same, for smartflash), if so, is it fully stable ? Where can I get it ? (LG Mobile update says my phone is up to date... Huh)(I have read that you need to change the boot partition or something like that with ICS roms, is it valid for official ICS roms from LG too ?).
Do I have to unroot my phone before installing a new rom with Smartflash ?
Thanks.

1. Make sure that you have P990.
2. V20B should be a gingerbread.
3. If you read one post below yours, you could’ve find exactly what you ask official ICS for smartflash.
Cheers.

I will update via LG Tools with the kdz instead of smartflash. Is there anything to do specifically to keep my data in the phone or is it saved automatically in the LG Tools update process ?
Thanks

I think updating via LG Tool doesn't erase data on your phone... however I would strongly advise you to synchronize your contacts with gmail and backing up you apps with titanium backup in an external sd card.
Update via LG Tool didn't erase my data when I went from 2.2 to 2.3
