Hi I am paying for someone to make an app for me. It would be like the last.fm app where you can stream the music from the site, but it's for soundclick.com not last.fm. I would like to be able to sign into my account, view my favorite bands, rate/comment songs, Download songs to my sdcard right from the app, upload songs (for band accounts), and basically a fully functionally app that lets me use all the features on soundclick. I will pay $10 for someone to make the app. I will pay you via paypal, after the app is completed and being used on my G1.
An application like that would take a long time to create and cost way more then $10 to produce.
10 dollars? haha no comment
Lol, if you want an app like that you would have to pay way more than 10$. That app sounds really complex. I think you undervalue the amount of skill and work it takes to actually program an app. It's actually pretty hard ( I am a beginning coder myself ). Offering 10$ for something like that is almost an insult.
hmmm, but I thought making apps were free, all it took was time. and at least im offering something lmao. I could just be like I want some one to make it free lol. Well so it looks like no one's going to do it?

The SDK for android is free, but there's a fee to post things to the market. Not to mention that it takes a LOT of time to make. You're basically asking for months of someones time for $10.

yeah, but i'm not asking for it to be posted in the market lol I said for me lol. Whatever they decide to do with it when it's done is up to them . But I see where you are coming from .
Something like that would cost at least a few thousand dollar's worth of programmer's time. I don't know anything about soundclick, but it's very likely that it wouldn't be possible to make an app without their consent/help.
Your best bet is to suggest that they make an app themselves.

How would I go about suggesting it to them? Because don't you think i would be hard to contact the owner and have them listen to someone asking for them to make an app for android?

I would start at their Contact Page. Probably with the support email, then maybe business development if you don't get any response from support.
$10?!?!?
Are you out of your mind?
Make a real offer. I'm not a dev but I was thinking along these lines for Hero Mock Widgets:
Pay $500 per working mock Hero widgets plus 25% of profits gained.
Charge each widget $4.99 or $20 for the entire pack.
The demand for Hero ported to Cupcake is so large that I would make my $500 in less than a day (hell... maybe in just a couple of hours) since everyone would be purchasing the $20 widget pack. Then $5 would go to the dev for each download (say 1,000) download the first day (which wouldn't be too unrealistic given the demand) so the dev could easily make $1,500 for the work on release.
That would be a minimum offer!
$10... you won't even get an e-mail of interest for that. Even if it was going to be a free app on the Market. If anything you gave someone an idea to do it themselves, take the credit and charge what ever they want (like $0.99 for ten people like YOU that want it so badly) and he could make more than a lousey $10.
use imeem , they have an app

What are you talking about??? I dont want a widget. I dont even want rights to sell the app. I just want it made so that I can use it lmao.
wait for flash player then , once flash player is integrated u should be able to use all the features of the real site
Some companies pour millions into R&D for applications, $10 would barely buy them coffee. lol. Yeah, best bet is to contact soundclick and ask them if they're developing an app for android. Or hope there a dev out there that wants it as badly as you do, and is currently creating one.
YAY 600 posts.
The $10 is hilarious but besides that it probably isn't possible. There is no public API as far as I can tell. They also you a flash music player. Meaning there is no way to make the calls to stream the music.
Either email them and request it or wait till there is a flash player in android
So to sum everything up here: zayg1, it ain't gonna happen.
If you really want someone to write it for you try http://www.rent-a-coder.com there programmers will bid down against eachother for the job, you might only have to pay someone $1k
$10? Free to make? You don't know anything. Go read a book. Sorry.
Hey guys, I'm pretty sure I can't post any links cause I'm a newer poster. Just picked up an epic a few days ago, but I've been on android for a while (owned a G1 and a moto cliq ) Anyways, I popped on ANdrolib.com today to check out the goings-on, and I noticed that "VR Tunnel Max" Is free today, under the name VR Tunnel Max BBQ Edition.
Not really my thing, but cool to show it off, I'm more of an ascension Live wallpaper guy myself. Anyways though, a good way to get a good working live wallpaper with some cool features for free, while at the same time not being a warez noob. Haha Just thought I'd share the info
Thanks for the heads up. Always like it when people put things up free for a limited time.

Thanks for the info dude! I just downloaded it from the market where it is also available for free for the time being, and applied it as my wallpaper. Its cool how it uses the motion sensor to make the view of the tunnel move when you tilt and turn your phone.

Yeah thats where I had to get it too, through the market. I agree free things are fantastic. Oh and BTW Androlib.com just lets you view the market in a different way/ with diff filters, and then refers you to things Via QR Code. Yeah, but, hope you guys enjoy! (I didn't create it I just stumbled upon it) I'm sure you'll be seeing more of me around here, regardless. So cheers!
Gotta love free stuff. Good looking out
One of our own made it into Round 2 of the Google IO challenge! Developer teleknEsis had this to say about it...
The first round was just 6 obscure Android questions that we had to answer in 30 minutes. Top 200 people went on to round 2.
Round 2 was to create an Android version of the HTML5 countdown clock on the homepage of the google io site. They changed up the site today for St Pattie's day and changed the bouncing colored balls to floating 4-leaf clovers, but it's still the same concept more or less. We had about 20 hours to do it (although less for me b/c I had to wait to get off work)
So I created an app for Android that has little bouncy Androids instead of colored balls.

And a little about himself..
Finally made the transition to full-time Android developer about a month ago. Spent the previous couple years playing around with Android and last 6 months staying up all night coding pet projects. It's good to feel as though I have 'arrived'.

HERE'S a little more about the contest itself. I'm sure everyone will join me in congratulating teleknEsis and wishing him luck in the future. Hopefully he'll be able to update us with his progress here.
Thanks.
Thanks for letting us know and good luck to our XDA Dev!!
Good Luck! I hope He wins.
Sent from either my Nexus S, N1 or telepathically using two tin cans and some string.
Thanks!!
Thanks guys, I definitely appreciate the support! I don't think I'm going to find out if I won until April 4th but until then I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
If anyone would like to test the app I submitted send me a PM and I'll send you a link to download, and in the mean time I will let you guys know if I hear anything!
Please keep us updated!
And if you want to make your app free public in XDA I can write an article about it.
Let me know via PM
Good luck!
Congratulations for getti this far dude! Hope you win!

A not so happy ending...
Well, I'm sad to announce I was not one of the top 10 Android winners
It seems they gave a lot of credit to final app size (even tho mine was still 20 kb) and a few of the people used some tools to shrink the final apk. Once I found out about this I did it to my apk as well and was on par with their size (11 kb).
It's disappointing, but at the same time, I'm still incredibly happy how things turned out. I was w/in the top 38 people who competed and that in and of itself is something to be proud of.
I also learned a TON from this challenge because prior to it I had never done custom animations or even worked with the Canvas class - both of which I can say I'm very comfortable with now. So in only 9 hours I learned how to do custom animations and created an awesome app - AMAZING!
So, long story short, while I may not have won, I'm still holding my head up high and there's always next time.
I did, however, turn my submission into a live wallpaper and made it the system clock rather than a countdown clock. I stuck it on the market for $0.99 so who knows, if it sells like hot cakes then maybe I will have enough $$ to buy an I/O ticket on eBay.
So.... what are you waiting for?! Go buy my app and check it out!!!

Anyone have Transformers Go launcher theme, please share in here

xda is not for sharing paid apps. If you genuinely struggle to afford this then sell your phone. If you can't pay in your country contact the dev for an alternate payment.
If you are just too cheap then look elsewhere.

While it's really nice, unfortunately it caused me to eat my phone. Now I'm out $100 from opening an insurance claim.

That was the intention! And you can't sue us for any damages!
Thanks for the comment. And if you have a minute, an honest review on the app would be really appreciated!
Bump!
