[Q] (SOLVED) Lost root when upgrading Darkys Rom... - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I recently upgraded my Samsung I9000.
I used to be on a rooted working copy of Darkys v9.5, now upgraded to v10 RC6.
Phone works like a charm, few issues I had on 9.5 are gone, but so is also my ROOT rights...
Im no hacker on Android/Linux, and would appreciate any help to get my root back working!
For example, Im unable to use Titanium Backup atm....

Darky is pre rooted so you should just download superuser from market

[Q] darky's mod 10.1

Greetings!
I flashed darkys mod 10.1 and it seems that everything is working properly. I had battery drain issues, but I calibrated battery and it seems to work well now. Some apps does have crash issues now. But most unusual thing is, after I flashed it my android version seems to be upgraded to 2.3.3 or so my phone info tells me.. how is that possible? But if it really upgraded from froyo to gingerbread app crashing is normal I quess.
Real problem is, while I start/restart my phone, screen flickers and has odd color mess and then phone starts and after my phone starts and I launch some apps it does the same thing... Is it really a problem or just some miniatyre bug?
I didn't clean my phone as I flashed it, but that shouldn't be anykind of problem.
Hopefully you'll understand what I try to say and thanks for help.

Sound like you didnt follow the instructions?
Darkys is based on gingerbread 2.3.3 if it was your first time flashing darkys it is recommended to flash the Ficeto JVH rom first, if you didnt do this, its probably why you are having problems.
But I have flashed darky before. I had 9.5 first. How can I get these problems off? Do I just have to flash JVH and then 10.1?

Oh. Now I got it. Yes I need to flash JVH... But I got new problem... I can't get to recovery. When I try to boot from recovery, it just boots, freezes with odd color mess and does nothing. When I press power button it powers up phone and won't go to recovery. And no I don't have CVM but it haven't been problem before..

By CVM I meant clockworkmod app

I downloaded CWM still it doesn't launch recovery... And yes I know darkymod and cwm recoveries are the same

Thanks
Checking it out now!
If you want to go to the stock, go to the thread by ramad mentionned above and flash UGKG3, it's the latest and greatest stock bell firmware, as well as being rooted and deodexed. I'm running it now, works great.

Ok ill take a look at that too. How long have you been running that on your phone? Will I be able to update my phone in the future via kies if I wanted to?

You can update using kies, it's detected and read by the kies client. I've been running it for a few weeks, never a single problem. It has busybox 1.19 installed in the bin folder, but you can just install an older one to sbin or xbin if you really need to. I really recommend it, I had a lot of trouble trying to root the stock 2.2.3 on my own.

[Q] - newbie - flashing jump help

Hi all,
I am wondering if someone will be able to clarify for me.
I have got the Darky 10.2.2 final and I want to install the Latest JVS from SamFirmware.
Will this okay or will this be dangerous? I just want to put it back to Stock and then root it using chainFire CF "Our Legend".
I am planning to just flash on top of the current Darky on the Phone.
Hope this make sense.
I am using ODIN and I have got JIG for download mode.
Thanks guys.
I went from Darky 10.2 to JVS (and then semaphore kernel) no problems..
I had no need to use a jig.

Thanks for the reply.
I am not too familiar with I9000.
Do i need to install the ext4 from CF afterwards? For the lag fix?
Reason i ask is because i noticed that CF has the addon file available for download.
Cheers
It's always a good idea to revert to rfs before flashing a new firmware (in case the kernel doesn't support ext4; i don't think stock jvs does).
Otherwise shouldn't be a problem
Flashed stock rom with pit included. Now using latest. Seems to be ojay. Dont think i will need lag fix
Cheers

Can I root sgs without a computer?

Hi there,
I'm running stock 2.3.5 jvt on galaxy s but wanted too root it. Is there a way of doing it without a computer as I don't have access to one any time soon.
I remember using z4root when I had version 2.2 but I'm not sure if that will work with 2.3.5.
Thanks in advance

Anybody know?

You can try the following gingerbread. Try to search and hope it works for latest firmware. I have tried this long time ago when I used JVK..
