Problems with Exchange and JPY - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
we have a new SGS (everything stock from T-Mobile, i think it is JPY). I tried to connect the phone with out Exchange 2003 server without success.
There comes a message that i have to accept a Samsung EULA. If i do this, the connection fails.
On my own phone (private with Darky ROM RC6) i had not such problems. There is also no Samsung EULA.
Has anybody a idea?
kind regards
srkonus

I just flashed 15 Samsung Galaxys for a customer. Stock JPO(2.0, most *new* phones have that as stock) wont work with Active Sync for some reason (same problem pattern like you have), however, JPY (2.2.1) should work flawless.
Check it by typing *#1234# into the dialpad. It should tell you, what version you have.

Thanks for your answer. I hope to get the phone back on monday and then i will have a look.

You can also use SG2 Email.apk
delete original email.apk with SGS tools.
download new one, install it.
Then use root explorer and move the installed E-mail.apk from data/app to system/app.
restart the phone.
Finished

Hi fomax,
thanks for your answer. Rooting and changing apk files is no opinion.

[Q] Kies no longer works with JPKXX

Hi Guys,
Upgraded my SGS to xxJPK and loving it.
Kies no longer recognises my phone (I was running earlier version then tried upgrading to latest and it still doesn't help), which is not the end of the world as I don't use it much but I like to get apps off the samsung store sometimes through Kies.
I can still download the games but they come in 2 files. One is a .app file which looks like it is the main part of the program as it's the largest. The other file is a .img file which I assume is some sort of reference file for the application.
Is there anyway to install these on my phone without using Kies?

[Q] Official Froyo issues

Hi There
I updated my phone through Kies and got version: I9000XXJPM build FROYO.XWJP6
I did a factory reset so marked would appear and so I could start on a fresh.
Everything seems to be working okay, but my email client (not GMAIL), lags a lot, and I’m unable to delete mails using IMAP. When I delete a message and refresh, the mail just appears again. This worked on Android 2.1update1.
I tried to root my phone, hoping I could fix the lag issue, but I can’t make the 3 bottom download mode trick work. Then I looked at this fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=785201 but got stock at step 5 and 6. I don’t know what to do and where.
Does anyone else have problems with the email client using exchange and imap? Can you guys delete imap messages?
And regarding the root issue: I only need this, so I can change my default homescreen to number 3, so if there’s a better way to do this, please help. And also if it can fix the email problems.
Thanks
-Michael
There is already a standalone thread about the issues after the official Froyo update just under this thread which you have just created...
Posting here now
Thanks

Root your device using SuperOneClick. I did.

[Q] Camera Failed

Hi all, the camera on my Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 was working the first day I got it, I installed a few apps, and uninstalled a few as well. The second day I tried the camera, a 'warning - camera failed' window appeared. Since then I have tried a factory reset and I have also upgraded the firmware from eclair 2.1 to froyo 2.2 using Kies. My camera still does not work, can someone here advise me? I live in Trinidad in the Caribbean and the phone was purchased online and shipped to me. There is no Samsung office in Trinidad.
same thing happened to me... had to send the phone back for repair.
If you have rooted try this:

Delete/rename the old camera.apk from /system/app/ and put the hacked camera to same folder.

[Q] Can't connect to Twitter?

I'm in Canada, on Bell. using the baseband version i9000UGJL2. Its not rooted or anything.
it started yesterday, but I can't connect to twitter, through apps, or even through the web browser. It will work if I have the phone on Wifi, but it won't work on 3G/HSPA. All other apps and websites work fine.
There's appearantly a new firmware out, but Kies won't let me update to it. I tried using the registry editor to force the update, but when the process starts, it stops and says its not available for my firmware version.
I had to use Kies (older version back around the new year) & the 1.7 reg editor to force update to froyo. Is there anything else I can do with what I've got? Or do I need to look into rooting it? I'm kind of new to all this, so any help would be appreciated. TIA
What new firmware ??
Most likely a Twitter/ your Twitter account /settings problem as its both an app and web problem .
Rooting will not help that's only gaining administrator rights over your phone .

How to access Kies contacts w/o phone?

Hi all.
I have a backup of my contacts on my PC with Kies. I just recently installed MIUI on my SGSi9000 so I now cannot connect the phone with Kies.
I know I should have researched earlier but I didn't, and now I would like to be able to access the contacts (as there are a few to say the least...) so I can sync them to my GMail account, which will then be synced with my phone.
Was wondering if I could find a way to open the files (from my Contacts001 files there is a .spb, .spb.bak, .spk.bak2, .csv.bak, .csv.bak2 * .csv.bak3).
If there is no possible way, how can I get rid of MIUI and go back to a Froyo ROM? Can I just flash a 3 file FW w/ .pit or is there another way I need to go about and do it?
Any help is appreciated.
-Gee.
Fixed it myself... Opened Contacts001.csv.bak in Notepad and there were the contacts and their numbers next to them. Thanks anyways.
