Help!! hanged at boot after restoring Nandroid backup! - LG Optimus 2x

My O2X had some problems recently and I decided to use "fix permissions" in the CWM recovery to try to solve it. Before this, I did a Nandroid backup using the latest ROM Manager (with CWM recovery 3.0.2.8).
After the backup, I did "fix permissions", then reboot. But most of the texts on the screens and menus are missing!! that's very strange. Luckily I had my backup.
So, I reboot into recovery and then did a complete restore. But the worse thing happened... the phone hanged at the boot screen with the LG logo (before the animation). It just stopped there... I tried to restore some earlier backup as well, it's the same!
I'm totally lost, because CWM recovery had been so reliable before... I had used Paul's version many times before and it worked without problem... is the newer version buggy?
Anyone know what's wrong? and how to recover??

Dunno whats wrong but if you want ur phone to work again use smartflash.

It happens when restoring CM from backup as well, the solution then is to reflash after restoring.

you mean reflashing the baseband?

No, the cm zip file. Obviously not what you want if you're on a stock ROM though.

But even if you're on a stock ROM, you can download and reflash a stock ROM over the top .

Thanks all for your kind advice. I have flashed the whole firmware and restored an older backup.
And i have reverted to use v10a rom as the v10d and the new baseband seems causing a lot of issues.

Changing the ROM doesn't touch the baseband. You need to flash that separately.

Unable to make a CWM backup

Guys, I hope that you can help me with my problem.
I tried to make a ordinary backup, usin CWM. It went fine this time. Sometimes it has occured problems with doing a backup also.
The problems come when I try to restore that backup. When I it starts, and then closes. The log says "MD5 error", I don't remember if it is exaktly that, but it is something similar.
Does anyone of you have any solution on this problem?
Thank you!
Best Regards
Jimmy
I'm having the same problem.
Can't create a backup. Error while backing up system or sometimes error while backing up data?
I'm running darky rom, note core kernel and cwm touch 5.0.0.4.
I want to try out Paranoid android but don't have a backup to fall back on!

That sounds like a nandroid backup to me. Do NOT restore any nandroid backups in CWM on stock ICS roms/kernels.
Use Abyss kernel. Flash it. Reboot Recovery. Restore nandroid.
The actual backup should work in CWM though.
Please if you dont mind, would you explain why its not a good idea to recover the nandroid backup with an ICS kernel and so on....will this produce a bad emmc?
Currently I'm on PA Rom, I also couldn't make a nandroid backup , it says error while backing up image of /sdcard/.android_secure/
Any suggestion would be appreciated , thanks.

Stock firmware problem after Cyanogenmod

A friend of mine suggested that I try Cyanogenmod, so I decided to flash my Galaxy Mini. The first problem was the bootloop, and no matter how many times I wiped the phone, it was always stuck at the Android text. So I decided to try the Honeycomb mod. Same happened. So I decided to flash it with Android 2.3.6 from sammobile.com. At last, it started working. However, Google Play still sees every application as "installed" (but of course they aren't), and when I try to delete from GP, nothing happens. After trying to install other applications, I realized that I cannot install anything from the market. Any idea how I could solve this problem? I would be very grateful.

Yes I did. I used CWM 5.0.2.6. The funny part is that after being turned off 3 times, Google Play started working But if there's a solution to the bootloop problem I would love to hear it. I searched this forum and the internet and nothing, even though I followed a cyanogenmod wiki's guide.

How old is your sd card? because same happened to me. I needed to format my sd card.

Anyway, tour problem is the CWM you used, didnt u see the DONT USE sign in the version 5.0.2.6 thread? 5.0.2.8 would avoided those errors in flashing custom ROMs

So I downloaded the new recovery, flashed it via Odin, and now nothing works. When I enter recovery it says that it can't mount /cache/log and /cache/recovery (I think it says these two). I looked around and found that it could be stuck in a bootloop, but luckily Android loads. However, I can't root my phone due to several errors, so I can't install Cyanogen mod. I think I'll give up now But thanks for all the help!

Thanks very much Here is what I did step by step:
I returned to the stock recovery by installing the stock firmware. I rooted the phone with stock recovery. Then I installed CWM recovery 5.2.0.8, but I still get the same error in CWM: it can't mount a few things. I still tried installing Cyanogen without wiping, and of course it's stuck at the boot screen with the Android text (I had a feeling that it wouldn't work if the recovery is not fully operational, so I did not want to lose every contact for nothing again). I read that this problem can be solved by formatting the SDCard, so I tried formatting it with PC and the phone also, but nothing. So now I'm back to the stock firmware and recovery with my phone rooted and no idea how to solve any of the problems.

This was just a trial run due to the new CWM recovery. If you read back, I already wrote that I tried wiping both data and cache before and after flashing Cyanogen mod. This "mounting" problem only came up with the new CWM recovery, 5.2.0.8.
The basic Google Apps were all there, since I used a rom from sammobile.com, downloaded programs like poweramp were the ones that did not work.

Any custom rom - Boot loop

I've tried in twrp and cwm/cwm touch - I get a boot loop no matter which rom I flash
I made a backup of my stock 404 on cwm and twerp so It's easily reversible in either.
Similar to this post - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45795997#post45795997
It involves flashing Pi-llama 1.4 via adb and then installing the custom rom over the top.
Ran into all sorts of issues, would hang on the third data write, so I cancel it and then it would continue etc... and install
Now I'm up and running I've got half PiLlama and this rom I put on, battery drain is bad and the clock process crashes when I try and set an alarm. Otherwise it's great.
Any ideas? Seems to be the data partition causing the problems.
I'm rooted and unlocked, thought I'd add.

I you want to flash a custom rom just don't wipe data and don't do a format /wipe data
The problem with that is it has previous rom stuff still installed.
I like a clean fresh install of a rom, so no contacts, messages, apps etc...
There is no way to do this without a bootloop.

Get to the rom boot animation and it does the updating apps then boot loops back to the moto screen and rom animation then repeats until i power off and restore a backup.

Yes, I'm using cwm. Tried touch and twrp.
Tried the above, same bootloop.
Only works if i leave my stock 404, push pillama 1.4 via adb and then flash the custom ROM over that in cwm.
This leaves residue from 404 and pillama on my phone though.

I have the same problem and I am on Stock 4.1.2. I have given up and no longer have a rooted phone with a custom ROM. I would, however, be grateful if someone could find a solution
If you are on 404 and trying to get to 4.1.2 you can root your phone then use the following method to unroot and install 4.1.2. You can then root again if you wish.

Thank you will give that a go.
I've got a problem now after trying the official 4.1.2 upgrade which failed miserably, the boot image has changed to the warning unlocked phone bla bla bla
My SMS centre number keeps disappearing stopping texts sending. Receiving and calling work fine. Tried the fixes online but all work for two minutes then it disappears again.
Can't factory reset, just boots back up with everything as it was when it turned off. Can't get into the stock recovery so stuck with CWM or twrp
Any time I flash a rom it boot loops.
Ideas on how I can get a clean official 4.1.2 onto the phone? Re-lock bootloader, remove root and then try?
So locking bootloader and removing root does not work.
I'd advise anyone that doesn't know what they're doing to avoid it.
It pretty much soft bricked my phone.
I've started a new thread in q&a with another issue regarding multi flash in fastboot hanging on the third or fourth download.
Im certain parts of the 4.1 are still there even after formatting everything in cwm and restoring my original backup.
Having network issues, 3g and wifi etc are fine. Sms, calls and anything to do with changing network operator just stops a few minutes after boot. I can still receive fine which is odd.
What's the deal with putting a radio on over an official ROM? Yey or ney

[Q] Note Stuck in Bootloop

Good evening,
I have a N7000 with Stock ROM 4.1.2 and the phone is rooted. Today after a periode of time I started the phone and it did the usual updated, including the Superuser.
After the update it freezed and in rebooted it pressing the power and home button. Ever since then I end up in a bootloop with reboots. I still can enter into recovery (Philz 6.0.3.1), however if I delete for example Dalvik cache the phone reboots (don't know if it ends the operation, or if it fails).
I am afraid that the bootloop is caused by the SU, however I am not sure.
I would need some advice, how the exit from the bootloop. Do I need to redo the rooting and install the SU?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Thx. I did the backup, however as mentioned before it seems not to finish the operation and reboots instead. The date of the backup is shown as 2000-01-01...which looks quit wired to me. Time set in recovery is not ok either, but this might be due to taking off the battery earlier today.
I can try to restore my old backup but what would happen if it fails?
The date is not right because of the battery pull. Why does it not finish the backup? Any errors? Try an advanced backup of data partition only and see what happens.
If everything using recovery fails then you can use Odin method to flash a stock firmware..

Here is an extract from Philz Recovery available at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191 that will help you with the confusion.
What kernel to choose:
The important part is the Kernel code:
XWLPX-NEE
Kernel code is in red (LPX), for this example, you need an LPX ROM. However, often, you can mix kernels when they are close: LPF kernel with LPG ROM...
NEE code doesn't matter at all, I add it for reference. It is the CSC
XW: mixed, often doesn't matter for close regions. For example, XW and XX are often interchangeable. However, mixing a BU with an XW ROM or inversly, sometimes works, but often ends in a bootloop. In that case, either boot into recovery or download mode to reflash

Lets use an another odd method that I once got something fixed with. Only if you choose to take your time.
First do a nandroid backup of your device. Then flash stock ROM and wipe everything via flashtool. Afterwards root it, and install a recovery. Then from that recovery restore your nandroid backup.
Things to note:
- Make sure integrity of your nandroid backup
- For safety backup your apps through Titanium Backup too
- If SP does not boot after restoring nandroid, flash the ROM zip again. This may have to do with the kernel.
