Guys, I hope that you can help me with my problem.
I tried to make a ordinary backup, usin CWM. It went fine this time. Sometimes it has occured problems with doing a backup also.
The problems come when I try to restore that backup. When I it starts, and then closes. The log says "MD5 error", I don't remember if it is exaktly that, but it is something similar.
Does anyone of you have any solution on this problem?
Thank you!
Best Regards
Jimmy
I'm having the same problem.
Can't create a backup. Error while backing up system or sometimes error while backing up data?
I'm running darky rom, note core kernel and cwm touch 5.0.0.4.
I want to try out Paranoid android but don't have a backup to fall back on!

I'm not trying to do a nandroid. I'm just trying to do a backup using Clockworkmod Recovery.

That sounds like a nandroid backup to me. Do NOT restore any nandroid backups in CWM on stock ICS roms/kernels.
Use Abyss kernel. Flash it. Reboot Recovery. Restore nandroid.
The actual backup should work in CWM though.
Please if you dont mind, would you explain why its not a good idea to recover the nandroid backup with an ICS kernel and so on....will this produce a bad emmc?
Currently I'm on PA Rom, I also couldn't make a nandroid backup , it says error while backing up image of /sdcard/.android_secure/
Any suggestion would be appreciated , thanks.

There is a chance of triggering the EMMC_CAP_EREASE command when under heavy I/O load

My O2X had some problems recently and I decided to use "fix permissions" in the CWM recovery to try to solve it. Before this, I did a Nandroid backup using the latest ROM Manager (with CWM recovery 3.0.2.8).
After the backup, I did "fix permissions", then reboot. But most of the texts on the screens and menus are missing!! that's very strange. Luckily I had my backup.
So, I reboot into recovery and then did a complete restore. But the worse thing happened... the phone hanged at the boot screen with the LG logo (before the animation). It just stopped there... I tried to restore some earlier backup as well, it's the same!
I'm totally lost, because CWM recovery had been so reliable before... I had used Paul's version many times before and it worked without problem... is the newer version buggy?
Anyone know what's wrong? and how to recover??
Dunno whats wrong but if you want ur phone to work again use smartflash.

It happens when restoring CM from backup as well, the solution then is to reflash after restoring.

you mean reflashing the baseband?
No, the cm zip file. Obviously not what you want if you're on a stock ROM though.
But even if you're on a stock ROM, you can download and reflash a stock ROM over the top .

Thanks all for your kind advice. I have flashed the whole firmware and restored an older backup.
And i have reverted to use v10a rom as the v10d and the new baseband seems causing a lot of issues.

Changing the ROM doesn't touch the baseband. You need to flash that separately.
Good morning!!!
Recently I have made a backup of my current Kuyadroid ROM with xrecovery. Everything went smooth. Now when I try to restore my backup it says MD5 mismatch...
Any clues?
Thanks in advance...
Im not sure but i think that since kuyadroid installs throw cwm, so you should do your backup throw cwm too....

I will try that. Thanks for the advice.
acctually it dont matter what recovery you use x or cwm they will restore backups properly. listen mount your phone to pc go to sdcard save all other roms to your desktop but leave the backup of the named rom. then go back into recovery and restore and it will work 100% its because you have to many backups on your sdcard at this time
Mayb dont space your filename...
MD5 mismatch is wrong filename try to rename last backup and dont space ok
Ok. I will try to rename file in the evening and try again to restore.
I will inform if i succeeded...

are some people stupid :S DO NOT rename the file you will corrupt it and will make it not flashable. you get MD5 missmatch when you have to many backups on your sdcard NOT wrong file name if that was the case it would state wrong file. please do NOT comment and tell him to do something which will destroy his backup only post if you can contribute and help not **** it up even more!!

I removed all other ROMs and backups from my SDcard. Then I tried to restore once again and again I got Md5 mismatch. To tell you the truth I only once managed to restore my system and it was Stock Eclair. If I remeber correctly I was on Kuyadroid ROM at that time when I rebooted to xRecovery and restored. The backup was made while on Kuyadroid as well.
I would really like to make it work somehow, because what is the point in making backups if i cannot restore them.

Ok. I deleted all the backups in the xRecovery and backup folder. Then I made a new backup of my current GDX v017 ROM and it is actually restoring now. I don't know whether it is going to restore my system later on. But at least I made some progress.
Restore complete.
I will try to restore my ROM in two days and notify whether I succeeded or not.
Thanks for all the help.
Ok. Restoring works now. I still managed to brick my phone with flashing Gingerxperia V8. Now I repaired it with PCC and restored my GDX version.
Thanks again for all the help!

Hi to all!
Well, yesterday i was using xGin 6.2, but trying something, my phone got stuck at boot, and i was not able no enter xRecovery or CWM recovery. So, i restored my phone with PC Companion, and i'm now in stock rom.
But, when i was on xGin, i've made a backup of that rom. What happens if i go to my CWM recovery that i've installed on stock rom, and i restore the xGin backup? can i do that? is that possible?
waiting for a response
Yeah, sure! That's what backups are for!

But now that you've found the path to PC Companion (enlightenment!), wouldn't it have been more fun to try restoring the backup then ask for help should things not go as planned? It helps the learning curve.

Exactly! I dont know about the rom you mentioned, so if it is based on custom kernel i think you should flash the kernel first or else you will brick your phone again...

I did read well (though you rhetorical question smarts of sarcasm - I'm merely trying to help).
Quite a number of kernels have recovery built into them. It's as simple as:
- flashing a kernel with recovery
- restoring your backup
- flashing the kernel compatible with your ROM (if the current one isn't)
- booting your ROM!
Unless your ROM is one of those that give hell when trying to restore from backups (I've encountered a few of such; won't say no names)
Hey, I got a problem with restoring a backup on my SGS+. I' m using CWM 6.0.1.2 and in the middle of the restoring process, when it says it' s restoring mobi.cyann.natools-1.apk ( i recored a video so i can see what it is because it dissapears very fast ), phone just turns down. Hopefully i can boot, as it restored the boot image, but half of things is not working. I know i can flash rom again, but i really need files from that backup. What can i do?
EDIT: I tried with older backup i found on my pc and it' s the same, phone turns down. Is it a recovery problem?
And sorry i posted it in i9000 section, but i9001 has only a single post in Q&A and it' s a bit messy.

you need same recovery as your backup for it to work, workaround is to use a Nandroid browser ( free app from play store) to copy what you need to new ROM

With CWM i think that backup is called a nandroid... im not sure
the question isnt clear, are you unable to make a backup? or unable to boot after restoring a nandroid backup?

Some times it can be due to system type if you restore a backup of rfs system on ext4 it may get into bootbloop........not sure but i think iread about this somewhere before
if you think i helped you then hit thanxxxxxxxxxx.
When you make a backup on cwm make sure it displays backup complete. If it doesn't then there might be a problem with the backup and when you restore it it may cause problems so you will need to do the backup again. This doesn't help you now but it may in the future.
To answer your question, no, you can make and restore nandroid backups on cwm recovery with d2ext+. I don't think you can restore a backup that didn't have the script and then install the script before restarting because you are supposed to install the script before you install any user apps (I. E. Right after flashing ROM) If you are trying to do that it might be causing your boot loop. Without more information it's difficult to know what is causing your problem
