Euro Tab
Just installed the Gingerbread official firmware from forums but Kies will still not show current firmware, when I installed a ROM before it changed the format.
Is there a way to put the Tab back to stock firmware so that it works with Kies again now that we have an official release rather than using Odin
Thanks in advance

English in the English forums please.....Whatever THAT language is it does not belong here.
Anybody
Still no answer is this not possible?
Just want to put tab back to out of the box state by re-flashing the tab using Kies.
I have done it using Odin and now have gingerbread but want it to sync with Kies for downloads again.
Well I did it.
I flashed Rotohammer v4 and used bootloader patch to see if there is a protected one. But as far as I know GB doesn't have protected bootloaders.
Then I flashed the P1000XWJJ4 firmware. Works for me. If this doesn't work try P1000XXJK5.
After that KIES recognizes your tab and offers you updates again.
Gtab DOES have protected boot loaders... They are generally loaded on from those official updates you seem to like... Be careful if you decide to put custom firmware on after reflashing stock as you might find you have a brick...
Can you clarify a bit more as I have flashed the official Gingerbread from Italy onto the device and it working fine apart from Kies does not show any firmware info.
Do I just need to flash the stock UK firmware including bootloaders when it is made avalible and then it should work again?
Tab states the following version info:
Firmware 2.3.3
Baseband P1000XXJPZ
Kernal 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #2
Build GINGERBREAD-XXJQ1
OK just tested again in Kies and it updated Kies to version 2
It now states:
This verision of the device can not be updated
Current firmware version: PDA:JQ1 / PHONE:JPZ / CSC:JQ1 (XEU)
Hopefully this means that when the UK update is released it will allow a force flash or something.

Hi,
I have Samsung Galaxy S I9000 running FROYO 2.2
I just wanted to know if there's an official update to 2.3 from Samsung. If it is out there, how can I install it on my phone? is it better for now to stay with the 2.2 or better to upgrade?
Thank you.
You can upgrade to 2.2.1, but there isn't 2.3 yet. CyanogenMod working on it, we don't know anything about official upgrade...
I'm runing 2.2 froyo and 2.2.1 is official or not? Or its just depends on the regions where we live?

2.2.1 is available officially from samsung for specific regions. Although it's not out for north america, I'm running it now.
OK, thank you. Is there a way to return back to my current version if anything goes wrong trying to upgrade? How can I back up the current version?

No you cannot flash using KIES you can download and install the firmware via the Samsung server to upgrade your phone if your network has an upgrade with KIES .
ODIN required to flash .
Dependant upon what you mean by flash .
Usual term flash is to install firmware on the phone that may be customized or non standard via a non standard method .
Where update means update your phones firmware via Kies to your networks released firmware standard customer update service .

If I install android using a non standard method then i can't use KIES? Is ther - using odin? And how I can root my device back.
No
Kies = official firmware for your phones product code
Odin = Samsung generic firmware not adapted by your network phone provider .
Samsung generic firmware is the firmware built by Samsung before it has been passed to the different network providers who often add their own stuff .
probably will not update via Kies .
But will update to 2.3 via Odin when 2.3 is released and well before your network supply's the update .

Tried to find information about this without luck.
I'm runing Roto's rom on my tab but is about to sell it and need to restore the original firmware and rom.
Is this possible? (didn't take any backup when I flashed)
I think the best way is to go to the samfirmware.com website and download & flash an original (jj3 in my case) rom following their guide, using odin?
I didn't try so, I'm running Overcome 1.1.3 myself, so I might want to revert back to stock also one day.
Maybe someone could comfirm or advice any correct way to flash back to stock?
Especially coming from ext4 back to rfs...
Might be worth a sticky :-!

How does this belong in the Development section? Should be in General.!
You're right, wrong section. But I can't see any way to move it.
A little update, I've successfully flashed it with original firmware from samfirmware, but I can't find a version with the scandinavian languages.
So, how did you do it? Details.
I also flashed back to a stock rom yesterday (was running overcome)
XXJK5 as I couldn't flash JJ3, it appears to be impossible to flash a firmware with a hiddenfs.rfs partition?
Flashed xxjk5 with repartition on and it was ok after adding also the multi-csc, otherwhise it boots into recovery with an error about "unable to mount..." and "datadb not found...."
The only thing, there must be some problem with this multi-csc file,
the list of salescodes doesn't contain XEU (*#272*imei#), while this xxj5 rom I downloaded was XEU.
KIES tells me by the way "this version cannot be updated" and I find only 3 apps in samsung apps :-(

Do you mean the input language for swype/samsung keyboard?
Because if you can't select your locale for the os, you could just install morelocale 2 from the market.

Yeah the missing languages is one part of the problem, the other part is that kies just says "this device isn't upgradable"

Hi!
I am from Norway and thinking about rooting my Galaxy tab. But having previously almost screwed up my android phone doing this I am having second thoughts.
Before I am doing any rooting I want to make sure that I can revert back to an unrooted tab. And then I will need to flash my original firmware with odin right? But I have not been able to find this version of my firmware. Can anyone help my find my firmware? Or can I copy the firmware from my tab somehow and copy it back?
My Tab:
Model: GT-P7510
Android Version: 3.2
Kernel: 2.6.36.3 [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Dec 7
Build number: HTJ85B P7510XWKL1 (Norwegian/Scandinavian)
I need the correct so i can get the correct input languages.
search for "check fus" program, it downloads the latest version of your tab
Okey, first of all, I'm a complete noob when it comes to this, so I need some help.
After long browsing I was able to root my Samsung Galaxy.
Now I want to update my Galaxy from 2.2 to Gingerbread.
Since I rooted my Galaxy it won't connect to Kies anymore, so I guess Kies won't work.
I have an Samsung Galaxy S I9000,
FROXO.XWJPA,
Kernel Version 2.6.32.9
Is it possible to update, if yes, how?
Thanks
anyone? :l

Download a FW from Samfirmware, the latest is I9000XXJVR (Its 2.3.4), then via Odin you flash a 3 file's, its CODE, MODEM and CSC, and pit file and tick re-partition
Xooley,
I'm new on the forums so cant post any links but if you search for "how to use Odin" then it's really not that difficult.
The biggest decision you have is whether to stick with a "stock" copy of firmware i.e released by the manufacturer or install one of the modded versions from the hard working developers on XDA.
if you have a rooted phone then this wouldn't normally prevent KIES from working, so it might be that your carrier (orange?) hasn't release a Gingerbread version yet.
You can get most stock roms from samfirmwares as stated above. If you've never installed a rom before, make sure you read about it (checked youtube) to see if there are any problems with the one that you have chosen.
best of luck
Hi friends,
i was an iPhone user since 2007 but now i bought Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000, it has "Movistar" logo on its back,
i m completely noob on Android so please guide me.
when i bought my phone it was on 2.0 Eclair then i connected my phone with my laptop with data cable and Samsung Kies.
After connecting:
Samsung KIES showed me Gingerbread Updates
So First KIES updated my phone to 2.2 Froyo
And then it updated it to 2.3.3 Gingerbread.
"""i have read many posts here and as far as i know i think i m on Stock firmware and i updated my phone using Official updates from Samsung KIES and one more thing i want to clear here is before updating my phone my SIM CARD was working perfect no issues and after updating my phone still my SIM CARD is working absolutely fine so i think my phone is fully Unlocked (Please Clarify if i m wrong)"""
So after that long time has been passed i am waiting for Official updates for my phone of Gingerbread 2.3.4 or above but did not find any.
i used 2.3.4 on my friend's phone it works much smoother and faster than 2.3.3 thats why i want to upgrade it unofficially because i cant update it officially.
Can you Please tell me the procedure to update my phone to the latest Gingerbread Stock version unofficially?
Here is what written in "About Phone"
Model Number: GT-I9000
Firmware Version: 2.3.3
Baseband Version: I9000BGJV1
Kernal Version: 2.6.35.7-I9000BGJV5-CL307695 [email protected]#2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.BGJV5
I updated my sgs to 2.3.4 JVR which works great for me, and I used a guide on the website androidsoul.com to go step by step how to do it with odin, and if you search around a little there are plenty if guides here on xda as well

Which firmware should i go for there are so many
XXJVP = 2.3.4
XXJVR = 2.3.4
XXJVS = 2.3.5
and many more
And what is the difference between firmware with boot loader and firmware without boot loader ?
Sorry for so many questions i m new to Android.
you should go for XXJVS, or for XXJVT, i use a JVT ROM, and its pretty cool.
well, you always have a boot-loader... BUT, you should not flash a boot-loader, because that is one of the rare ways to really "brick" your phone.
the things you need, are odin, the .tar files you want to flash (you should find jvt or jvs here to download, as well as odin)
and just google for flash guide odin, or sth like that, after a few minutes you wil know what to do.
read carefully! and if some points aren't clear for you, don't bother asking.
(The reason why we don't write a full "how-to" is, because it is really done quite often and should not be hard to find)
I have flashed XXJVS Successfully and its working faster and stable than 2.3.3 its amazing. Thank you All for your Support

if you really mess up and brick your phone its mostly the same as if an update via kies fail and brick it
I heard 4.1.2 official Samsung update is rolling out.
I connected my N7000 to the computer and opened KIES after a long time i didn;t opened Kies. It said that a firmware is available, and also said a new version of KIES is available.
I thought I should update Kies first, so I did.
After Kies updated I connected the G Note again, and this time Kies said:
"Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies"
Current firmware version: PDA:LPY/PHONE:LPT/CSC:LPY(KOR)
my device information is:
4.0.3
N7000XXLPT
kernel version: 3.0.15-N7000XXLPY-CL474507
Build: IML74K.XXLPY
Does anyone can tell me why KIES doesn't let update firmware via KIES?
I bought my phone few month ago from somebody and he said that the phone can get official updates.
Is the phone info and firmware/build etc. is an official firmware?
I don't want to put non official ROM or 4.1.2.
Thanks for any help!
Probably because you have a non-stock kernel. Flash the stock kernel that goes with your stock rom and try again.
It's because you probably have a German rom and the csc is set to Korea. Dial *#272*IMEI# and choose DBT.
Doing this will wipe your phone. So make sure you are on a safe kernel and backup your important data.

How do I find the device IMEI?
and what do you mean by " make sure you are on a safe kernel"?
thanks again!
all the data is backed....
You are on ICS stock. But i dont know what kernel you are on and what info about the kernel you have mentioned, seems to be stock. Stock ICS kernels are not safe to do a reset.. so to be safe you need to install a safe kernel ... I would recommend flashing Philz kernel LRT zip from stock recovery..
IMEI is either by daialing *#06# or its in about device > status section
