[Q] Recovering Galaxy S - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello fellow XDA members,
I'll just cut down to the chase . A while ago I completely wiped my phone with CWM. I formatted the internal and external SD with CWM (I still have the efs folder don't worry) and all the other options except the bootloader ofcourse. So I flashed my phone with ODIN to Darky's ressurection edition (since it was the first ODIN flash I could find). I factory reset my phone and flashed doc's v11.1. However my native language (dutch) and all other locales except English and Chinese were missing. The gingerbread keyboard kept force closing... had this for a while wasn't happy with it started fixing it.
I formatted my phone again and flashed to stock froyo with multi CSC so the dutch language was available again . Everything worked perfectly it was exactly the same as when I unboxed it.
Then I installed doc's rom v11.1 again and the Dutch language was gone and the gingerbread keyboard kept force closing. I fixed the missing language with flashing CrySiS RevolutioN theme since locales are embedded in the framework. For the gingerbread keyboard I found out a lib was missing.. found the lib put in the right place and voila working. However for some strange reason the tab in the launcher 'my files' is still 'my files' and not 'mijn bestanden' (translated it to Dutch). Not a really big deal but alright....
Now comes the weird part however. My little brother bought a Galaxy S too... and I flashed mine and his today... with the exact same ROM from the RomKitchen. But our phones are not the same after the flash... his gingerbread keyboard was working fine immediately and the dutch language was available on the fly... Well now my questions are: what is wrong with my phone? What are the differences between his and mine and how to fix those differences. My main question I want to start from zero again total factory settings and then build up again. (I'd prefer the last question to be answered since I think that that is the easiest way ^^)
Thanks in advance!

Tbh i think the rom im flashing with is actually messed up... however it's from the romkitchen... with the right settings...

2.2 will not work on my Droid

I'm posting here because I don't know what else to do, my phone freezes using any froyo rom. It happens randomly and sometimes will not happen until I reboot the phone, but it makes my phone pretty much unusable. I've tried the leaked froyo rom, BB, CM 6 1&2 and countless others. I've tried wiping data / cache and formating the SD card (worked until i put my music back on), and I'm about to just try stock 2.2 and exchange it for a new one if it wont work.
Anyone else have this problem that could help me?
One thing I didn't see you do...
Have you at all root your phone to install the desired froyo rom for your phone?
Yes I am rooted, I'm currently on CM 5.0.8 and very happy but I would really like to get froyo working.
Alright. This is what I've done to get Froyo working on my Droid: I rooted my phone, downloaded BB v4 and changed the name of the file to update, installed Rom Manager on my phone(then found out I can download the roms from here as well), reboot into recovery through rom manager, wiped data & cache, selected install zip, then selected reboot phone. It took a bit to register but it converted over with BB v4.
I think I've found my problem
droidforums.net/forum/tech-issues-bug-reports-suggestions/67526-music-sd-card-causes-bb-4-freeze.html
this sounds like my exact problem, I'm going to look through my library and see if there is a corrupt file then try again
Hopefully that is the source of the issue and that'll be solved quickly. Good luck to ya

[Q] Theme and market problem (should be easy for you lott ;D)

Hey everyonee
im having seriouse trouble with my SanFrancisco phone from orange ( Zte Blade )
iv successfully rooted my phone and have clockworkrecoveryMod Working fab
but i have a couple of problems, i recently upgraded to froyo (android 2.2) using this page: Orange San Francisco phone handset – How to unlock, root and upgrade Android 2.1 to 2.2 FroYo The IT Bod
i have done this correctly and im happy with the result, (apart from all my data been lost, but i dont mind as long as i have froyo
but heres the problem,
I realllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy like this theme
Minimal Matte 1.5 CM6 Full Rom! 8/7 - xda-developers
http://www.xda-developers.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/matte.png
so iv saved the theme as update.zip and put it in the root of my phone,
then i opend clockwork and selected the theme correctly, and installation was succesfull,
but when i boot up again after the installation the android startup screen is stuck,
and also, using this new froyo, i cant seem to download and install apps of the market?
anyone helpp plzzz )))))))))
Just do these commands, you need to reflash your froyo rom, but your data is lost i think. Open your recovery and make:
1. Full wipe
2. wipe cache
3. wipe SD:ext
3. Flash your froyo rom, than reboot and you get back the original froyo.
Don't forget: every rom has a special theme for itself, you can't flash every theme with every rom. If you want an alternative read about metamorph.
is that rom even for your phone? Use the theme porter to inject the theme into your rom.

hmm, im not too keen on wiping all the data again :/
the phone originally came with android 2.1 but you can root and update it to 2.2, is it possible that the rom i installed just doesnt support the themes? do i need to install a patch? im not even sure i backed up correctly, even thought in the rom manager i clicked backup" it didnt really do anything, this idea of injecting sounds good, but wouldnt the same problem occur?
thanks for replying

nah nothing wrong happens when you port the theme to the rom you are using. i've ported like 5-6 themes already.
iv been using clockworkrecoverymod to install the themes under update.zip
but theres also the problem with the market, iv done alot of searching to find out y the apps wont install of the market, any ideas? thx
im gradually thinking it would be best to start clean, and if i were to start again how would i install 2.2 android onto a zte blade without hacking it?
thnx alot ;D

[Q] "Application is not installed on your phone" Error

Hi all,
I've done a search on this (both XDA-wide, and Google) and no-one seems to have a valid answer for me yet.
I am running Gingerbread (PDA = XWJVB, Phone = XXJVK, CSC = XAJVK) via a Doc's beta RomKitchen build. I am aware that I am running a beta and things can get a bit hairy, but this problem is really annoying.
Basically after the rom flash, I went and got Titanium Backup working again, and started restoring my favourite apps and widgets. All worked fine, then I had to do a reboot for some reason. All the restored apps are still in the apps folder , but greyed out and with an SD-card image overlaid to tell me they are on the SDCard. They ALL no longer work but give the "application is not installed on your phone" error, which is annoying, because before the reboot, they all worked.
I have tried twice to restore them from Titanium backup, and each time they only work until the next reboot breaks them, meaning the only apps I get to keep are the system apps and the ones I cooked into the Rom.
Anyone have any ideas?
Anyone at all?
Hi, I had a similar problem, with one difference: it started after a while. I had Doc's JVK installed, I restored my apps with Titanium Backup and it worked flawlessly for a while. At some point I noticed that the apps installed recently would disappear after a reboot. The worst thing is that even the market disappeared at some point.
To solve the problem, I flashed several times a WIPE version of Doc's rom along with several wipes from recovery. It didn't work right away and it took me several reflashes.
No problems since then.
Cheers
Thanks for that.
After much reading, I reckoned it was probably the Fugu kernel doing most of the damage, so I flashed a Chainfire XWJVB kernel, then a recooked Doc rom without the Fugu kernel. Lubberly Jubberly now

Home button and Lock Screen issue with custom ROM

I am new to the Motorola Atrix world coming from the Cyanogen 7 ROM on my Nexus S.
I rooted my Atrix 4G for AT&T and flashed the Ginger Blur and Ginger Grey ROM's and could never get the lock-screen or home button functions to work properly.
I tired doing clean installs and using the fix permissions in recovery, but still had the same issue.
I flashed the GladaAtrix ROM which has the MOTOBlUR app installed and just by chance I logged into my MOTOBlUR account and the lock-screen and home button functions started working again???? I am confused why this happened, but it fixed the problem on my device.
I think it would be a good idea to have a flashable zip file with the MOTOBlUR app just in case someone else has the same issue.
Just thought I would pass my experience along in case someone else has the same issue.
I have the same problem, i can't use my buttons anymore (Home - Back - Search - ...)
I've flashed to custom rom, bricked, succefully flash SBF... And now, my touch screen is not calibrate correctly. When I push on home or search button, it active the bottom of the android display...
I'm the only one with this kind of problem??
My home, search, lock button stopped working couple weeks ago after doing a tb restore due to sluggish performance. I had to do a hard reset and now its happy days again. From what I've gathered, this issue is common among android devices. As far as the atrix goes, doing a hard reset is the only fix.

You have to sign into your motoblur account thing and your buttons will work. Same thing happened to me.
Lock screen still doesn't work perfect for me

I'm on GreyBlur custom rom... don't have MotoBlur thing... Can I install just bloatware file? I've to re flash to a rom with motoblur? maybe gladiatrix? There is not a apk file?
I think I tried to flash SBF file and setup my account motoblur... but don't remember well..
Thanks for help (sorry for my english, i'm belgian user )

If I'm understanding the issue - I believe it's due to flashing the rom without being on the proper version of the atrix - when I flashed gingerblur the first time none of the buttons worked because i flashed from one version too high.
Also- please keep questions in Q&A, this is dev board.

Searching for stock ROM euro SGT

Hi,
I've been trying for a couple of days now to find the stock ROM for the european SGT, with Norwegian language. After trying 2.3.3, I found there was no option for my language, so my keyboard dock is essentially useless now.
Been searching web/forums, but haven't had any luck. Am quite the noob, so that might be the reason
Anyways, I wanted to try going back to the stock version, and wait for the official update, so that my language is included. I should of course have backed up my ROM before trying 2.3.3, something I thought I had done, with titanium. I saved an update.zip file to my ext.sd-card, but when I tried accessing it, it said somthing about a missing signature of some kind
Appreciate any help!
