[Q] Galaxy Tab with gingerbread 2.3.3 no 3G connection - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, need your help please!
Like subject, I've flashed it, (no problems by this) and then verify the correct setup of APN values. But the Tab now goes only on "H" connection, no 3G
Someone have the same problem?
Thanks a lot

H is better than 3g. .if ypu are getting those speeds . . Or just could be a icon change

hehe H is good nothing to worry about. It's faster than 3G. Looks like something was probably not right before you upgraded.

Yes, as these other guys are saying "h" is 3g

Thanks all guys!
The tab is branded by Orange, so maybe this is the reason? Now at startup I've the classic logo Samsung.
But if H is better than 3G, thanks to Gingerbread! :-D
Cheers

Flashed TMobile Tablet no 3g
I flashed my TMobile branded tab no problem there. Now I only get EDGE. Please advise what I can do. Read somewhere problem is no 3g + phone. I'd like to eliminate phone which showed up after I flashed and just go back to 3g + wifi and no phone option

You will have to go to the modem thread - its a stickie - and get the T-mobile modem. It will give 3G data and no voice. Flash with Odin in the phone button/line.

Thanks
Ranger Captain your tip helped me resolve my problem. My tablet now runs on 3g/4g.

Glad for that! Enjoy.
The best cellular speed the tab is capable of is 3G on a good tower.

1, I assume you have good phone signal.maybe internet signal.weak.in your area?
2. Try another sim maybe smart or globe?
im have good phone signal but no 3g or edge. ill try out other networks.

i tried using globe. 3g/edge works fine but with sun its not working. i think my apn is wrong but i alrwady tried every apn setting for sun that i found on google but still no signal. i doubt that it has something to do with no signal in my place becuase no matter where i am its the same still no signal.

Obviously if globe works then nothing to do with the tab ;-)

International note with rogers canada?

Anyone useing the international galaxy note with canadas rogers carrier? If so is there 3g data networks and cellular network working fine on the note or do you have to add the rogers apn settings for data? Any good rom recommendation for the canadian international note user? Thanks and hope this was not asked already

I'm using the N7000 with Bell and I get hspa data speeds. I don't see why it wouldn't work with Rogers.

Ok awesome did it automatically do the data without adding the apn settings for bell? Hows the data speed you thlink so far any issues?

I didn't have to input any apn. Not sure if you will have to with a Rogers sim. Data speeds are good. Slightly better than my Galaxy Nexus.

You may have to... just Google them, aren't hard to find at all. I'm awaiting my note as well (putting it on Rogers too)
You might want to disable fast dormancy on the Rogers network with the N7000. It should help your battery life a bit.

Fast Dormancy is a protocol established between the cell masts and the radio in your phone. It allows both ends of the data transfer to co-ordinate switching between high and slow speed data modes. If your carrier supports it then it can save battery power, running at the less energy intensive slower data speeds when you aren't transferring large amounts of data and switching the HSPA+ when needed.
If your carrier does not support it then you typically will see slightly reduced battery life with it on.
As far as I know, in Canada, only the Bell/Telus network support it.

Thanks! So here's the 2nd part of that question. How do you turn off fast dormancy?

Notice the "Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium" signature. You seem to know a lot so you should know I can't search at the moment. Should have been a simple answer on your part, smartass.

Wow, thanks. Notice my smiley face at the end of my sentence?
Install a browser on your phone and search. It's not hard. Shows what a person gets for trying to help someone out. I gave you an explanation you asked for but I am not going to spoon feed you too.
Canadians are generally known for being polite and kind. So much for that assumption. Must be some sort of stereotype like beavers and polar bears.

Q and A forum. Ask questions to get answers. Pretty straightforward...
Back on topic, you can definitely use this phone with Rogers. Just tried it with a Rogers sim and the apn appeared after a few seconds. Enjoy!

Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G network 4G/3G

I live in Dominican Republic and use this phone with Claro RD with 850 freq, for some reason i installed a jellybean slimroms rom and my internet was H+ but when i returned to gingerbread software it only says 3G, do any of you know how to get this phone to show 4G or at least H+ with 2.3.6 stock software?

i may not explain this right, but it has something to do with how its coded. u still get 4G but just shows on 3G. there is a patch to show it back as 4G

HSDPA is "3.5G" and therefor some roms classify it as 3G, some roms classify it as H, some roms classify it as 4G.
There is a zip file floating in one of the rom threads that appends the 3G icon into a 4G icon, but it's only cosmetic, there's no actual difference in speed for any of the roms, it's just which icon it shows.
interesting prompted me to look into the difference in cellular data tech didn't know there was a difference before

Losing connection

Hi, I have the i8190L and i'm on a t-mobile network. I'm not sure if its only me or is it for everyone, but I lose connection to the T-Mobile network ALOT. Like sometimes i drop to 2g Alot! I'm not sure if it's the baseband or not but yeah. Is there any way to fix this?
Which area are you from and does it only happen at that specific spot or everywhere you go?

What do you mean which area am i from? It's everywhere I go, but when I tether for hours, it doesn't disconnect or anything at home, but when i go around it disconnects and makes me select the t-mobile network again.
bump ;/ this still happens to me.
The 8190L has a baseband of 850 while the 8180 is 900 tmo uses the 900 Prob that's why

LTE question

I know our phones Hardware is exactly the same as the att note so my question is.. If it's identical hardware wise and with tmobile now has LTE wouldn't our phone be able to access the LTE? I'm on 10.1 and there is an apn that says tmobile LTE and I selected that. and in preferred network I put it on LTE/GSM/WCDMA... and the data all works and it does seem to be faster. I did a speed test and got 5 mpbs. I usually get 3-4....maybe I got partial LTE?? any expert advice is embraced! Thank you

I think you have to patch the radio to get it and even then, your battery takes a hit. I get a constant 10mbps down here in Los Angeles using the stock radio on HSPA+. If you are just changing your APN settings without patching, I'm not sure you are getting anything from LTE, especially if it's only 5 mbps.
Hey fraughtsiguewolf nice to see u reply... How or where can we find the patch?

I don't think there is one for our phone. I only saw it for the Nexus.
Darn...
