Tried 2 different Hero ROM's 2 fails

I am using a G1. I have have been running Cyanogen ROM's for a while now.
I wanted to try a HERO ROM. I pulled jachero2.3.6 and kingklick1.6.
I booted into Cyanogen 1.4 Recovery, performed my backup, and flashed the HERO ROM's. They both failed with E: can"t chown/mod/system/xbin/nano (No such file or directory)
E: failure at line 42: set_perm 0 0 04755 SYSTEM:xbin/nano
Installation aborted.
Anyone got an idea if I'm doing something wrong?
Do I need to complete reformat my Card and recreate my ext partitions?
That would suck.

First, do you have the newest radio and danger spl? If so you need to wipe, wipe ext, flash, wipe, boot.

hm...sounds weird... try mligns new hero. its like 2.49 or something? his are always super fast and really good...what size sd card and what class do you have? what about the size of your partitions?

Help! No longer able to flash a hero rom!?

Hi everyone, so after I flashed to cyan's latest 4.1.9999, I can no longer flash a hero rom. During the update process of MLIGN's 2.5.7, KingKlick's 1.9, and MghtyRed's 1.9.1, i get this error or something very similar to it during the update. This is towards the end of it when it is Formatting system and copying files.
E: Can't chown/mod /system/xbin (No such file or directory) E: Failure at Line 77: set_perm_recursivce 0 2000 0755 0 6755 SYSTEM:xbin
Installation aborted.
Can someone please help. I don't know what happend. I even went back to both my cyan404 back up from bart restore and my cyan41999 back up from bart restore and used both hard and danger spl's and got same errors. Thanks!
BTW: I did wipe, wipe ext, repair ext, wipe and then updated. I even wiped dalvik-cache after ext wipe before as well. So i know how to wipe etc and haven't had problems with updating to hero's before in the past. Not sure what the deal is now...

Sounds like a SPL problem to me. Update to Haykuro's Death SPL and try it again.

Are you sure the danger spl flashed properly?

Have you tried re-downloading the roms you are trying to flash? A bad dl (though unlikely with 4 different roms) could casue problems. Might have just had bad connection when you grabbed them.
Can you install other non-Hero roms from update rather than restore?
If all else fails whip out dreamimg.nbh and start over.

Which rom?
Did you edit anything?
partition?
Do you have root?
What spl?

and im not sure what spl

you need danger or Haykuro, there both the same.

i flashed the danger spl and now it says failure at line 363

Partition Problems, trying to flash to a new rom

hey need a little help..
Okay so I rooted my phone, then installed haykuro spl and then JF 1.5
but I want to flash over to eclair 2.0.1 by manup so I realized I had to partition my harddrive..
I used sdparted.txt to make my hard drive partitioned then did a factory reset (alt+w) from my system recovery
now when i Open my sdcard in the reader or the phone I have a blank folder nothing in the partition... is this the partition i need to upload the update.zip to so I can flash over to the eclair??
if not what partition do I use and how do I push my update.zip there???
I place the update.zip in the empty folder and when i try to flash from cyanogen 1.4 I get the error

E:Can't Mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(I/0 error)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Installation aborted.
Please Help

bump still looking for help..

perhaps something went wrong when partitioning your sdcard. Try doing it manually through the recovery console.

After reformation not work i downloaded 29RC and downgraded it, flash new radio, spl and rom!
